The volume down button on my Streak does not work so I cant get the Streak into Recovery Mode. I have tried thru the PC using the "adb reboot recovery" command but it just reboots normally. I also tried the app "ROM Manager" which has a option to reboot into recovery but again it just boots up normally. I had a relative try with ROM Manager on his Streak and his just rebooted normally also. Am I missing something? Anyone have any suggestions?
If your Volume Down button is defective, suggest you get a replacement from Dell while your warranty lasts. I don't recall an alternative to Vol Up + Vol Dn + Power to boot into Recovery.

Unfortunately no warranty as this is a Streak I put together from 2 broken Streaks. I knicked the ribbon cable that connects the side buttons to the mainboard, thats why the volume down doesnt work.
Try using fastboot then.... Think the command is "fastboot reboot-bootloader".
quick boot in the market it works for me must be rooted
I tried Quick Boot, gave it su privileges when asked, but it still just booted up normally????? What ROM are you running on your Streak. I was on 305 and just updated to 318 last night.
I'll give fastboot a try once i get my pc to recognize the Streak when it's in fastboot mode. So far no luck with changing the driver but I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
Took a while because I had to figure out that you need the option "-i 0x413c" in the fastboot command line or it doesnt work. So the command "fastboot -i 0x143c reboot-bootloader" doesnt work on my Streak either. It just reboots up in normal mode. I had someone else try on his Streak and it didnt work on his either and he is running Streakdroid 1.8.? while I am on Stock AT&T 2.2.
Still looking for a way into recovery mode without using the volume buttons.....
when nicked a micro cable on my old dj580 radio. i wrapped a very thin paper clip around end of solering iron and left half of it sticking out. bit of flux on either end of nicked cables and a tiny dab of solder, wiping off excess...fixed cable without applying too much heat....but it was an outer wire not sure which one you nicked....if your brave enough !
Have u tried anreboot

The niched wire is the outside conductor but it is minuscule. I'm sure I would mess up more if I got anywheres close to it with a soldering iron, lol. The thought had crossed my mind though, thanks. Tried AnReboot but when choosing "Reboot Recovery" and allowing it su privileges it only rebooted normally. Thanks for all the things to try. I might contact www.dellstreakrepairs.co.uk/ and see how much they will charge for this part. It is a thin plastic film that is sticky taped to the plastic frame of the Streak and runs along the side, under the physical buttons. The other end of this strip loops around and plugs into the mainboard, which is where I nicked it. I tried taking it off another bricked Streak I have but ripped it in half, doh! At least I was smart enough to try it on the broken Streak first and not my working one, lol.
Try adb reboot-bootloader

Running TnT lite v5. Normal boot was fine except for an error "System UIDs Inconsistent". I wanted to fix that but whenever I try to boot into recovery it hangs on the Viewsonic screen after the 2nd line of text (something like "Booting recovery kernel image"). I do not have an external card in it right now, but I have tried booting from one with no success.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Another bit of information, "lsusb" does not show the tablet.
happened to me to. put in the gtab-cwm-v08.tntlite5 before i was gonna run the 5.0 tntlite. what i´m gonna do now?
I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-934595.html
Looks like there is a process that involves opening the device up. Does anyone know if this actually works? Here's the process outlined in the thread:
1. Disassemble the tablet. Remove the four rubber stoppers on the bottom of the tablet (put them aside). Next, unscrew the screws under them (keep those too). Next we need to get the back half of the tablet off. Put the tablet face down on a piece of paper or another protective material. Gently work one corner of the tablet until the two halves are slightly separated, then use something thin like a business card to keep them slightly parted. You can then use something thin and strong, like a plastic gift card to zip around the edges and break the seal. Prying will only damage your plastics.
2. Disconnect the battery lead (a flat connector with multicolored wires, probably held down with tape. Look near the battery.)
3. Connect the device via USB.
4. Short (connect) the four contacts circled in the photo. (A smallish square of tinfoil works well for this. Be careful.)
5. Press the power button for 2-3 seconds and release.
6. Disconnect the tinfoil shorting tool.
7. The APX device should be detected on your computer.
8. NVFlash a working bootloader.
9. Disconnect the AC adapter.
10. Reconnect your battery.
11. Reconnect the power until your device is charged.
You have pushed a wrong set of buttons ... you need to hold the "volume Down" botton and then power it up so you can restore it with NVFLASH, you will have a BLACK screen... no need to opend it ... if you see a message on the screen it's means you only boot in recovery (Volume up + power)
tried this...nothing different. still frozen. any other ideas?
[Alternative Low battery in Ap fastboot fix
Tested and confirmed to work on Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR XT912
I softbricked my Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR XT912 while testing some stuff out when it got bootloops. I hard reset it by holding the volume down and power button for thirty seconds. when it restarted it got the all black screen with white letters saying Boot Failure in Ap Fastboot mode. I could not flash the factory Rom back on it to make it operational again cause my battery was below 50% charged. So here is what I did.
I used a 600ma charger cut the end off and then cut the wire coating back exposing 3/16 of wire. With charger unplugged I attached the red to the + and the black wire to the - terminal being extremely careful not to touch anything else in there causing it to arc and possibly causing damage. I recommend that you download the IFIXIT APP in the market to a tablet or use their website so you can get the instructions on the removal of the back plate without breaking or cracking it. Once removed you can use the torx screwdriver to remove the negative screw. It has a washer too I just placed the wire neatly under there making sure not have any individual wire sticking out everywhere and re-tightened it. Then done the same to the positive side.
Now that you have done this you should very carefully flip it over taking extreme care as to not have the wire break or fall out. I placed mine over the edge of the table so I could inspect it before plugging it up. If all is good plug it up then hit volume up and down plus the power button at the same time. When done correctly the Boot Mode Selection Menu will show. Use volume down to scroll the list to AP Fastboot highlight it select by pressing volume up. Usually it'll go straight there cause it's bricked and in bootfailure. The RAZR will now say BATTERY OK. Run RSD Lite and install your Fastboot files with RSD5.7
Fast boot file listed below is for the verizon edition.
ICS 4.0.4
VRZ_XT912_6.7.2-180_DHD-16_M4-31_1FF.xml
After it fully installs turn device off and carefully remove everything paying close attention not to touch the cut wires to anything and also be very careful with your torx screwdriver. Then snap the back cover on and power it back on. Worked twice for me since it keeps soft bricking every time cause of Bootloader being locked.
Update, Thanks to whirleyes and the app called Bootmenu which allows you to partition some space for a second system (dual boot) i'ts located on the market. I'm able to flash without any problems now.
If you find this helpful give thanks.
600ma charger was the one i was willing to sCrifice to get the phone back up and running. Search motorola droid razr stuck in fastboot with low battery on youtube or mikevipsr. I really didnt want to put a charger with to much charging power like 850-950ma cause i was thinking its hook up directly to the battery and its not getting filtered through any hardware before it gets there. I had to open my phone and do this out of nessicity since my rom crashed and i was in boot failure. All the button presses and didnt work.
I need to update this because i do not need any help with clockworkmod. I have moved on to a really great app called Bootmenu its even on the market and the razr guy has a great video up for it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmMgcVi7tgU&feature=g-user-c

Can you do this with just a regular USB cable and USB power adapter?
Any usb cable preferably the factory cable that came with it in the box.

Hey, I recently tried using AnTuTu to benchmark my (non-converted) Optimus G and the phone just shut off on me. From there I couldn't get it to turn back on, it will only boot loop the charging logo when I plug it in. I'm pretty sure the partition tables are all messed up.
Anyway, I'm attempting to completely flash back to stock with LGNPST and I've tried every combination of installing drivers and I've tried going to "Tools>Load Ports" (can't remember exactly what the menu said, I'm using a mac now). However I plug the phone in, however, it isn't recognized, I've tried opening the program with it plugged in in download mode, and plugging it in when the program was running in download mode.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!
EDIT: Probably worth noting that recovery gets stuck at a black screen and no adb access. Can't flash a ROM using fastboot flash zip, I get the following error "FAILED (remote: partition table doesn't exist)", that being said I have access to the bootloader and fastboot.
Gotta take the battery out. Use a t5 torx for the bottom 2 screws, then starting by the sim card slot work an old credit card all the way around the edges popping off the little plastic clips. Gently lift off the back. The camera will still be attached to the back so be careful. Gently remove the camera from the back panel of the phone (not the ribbon cable!) then remove the 2 tiny phillips screws holding down the battery connector, pop it up, wait a few seconds and reassemble. Be careful when putting the camera back in the housing, and put the top of the back panel back in first. Sounds like a lot but pretty easy if you take your time.

I Think Before Messing With Your Device Internals,Do A Overnight Charge,It Should Probably Solve Your Issue.

While flashing my LS990 back to stock (was rooted/TWRP) my dog hit my laptop and the USB cable unplugged and the battery popped out right in the middle of the process. Now when I try to enter download mode it simply reboots to the LG logo and when trying to enter recovery I get the same (says Entering Recovery then just reboots). Am I screwed/bricked? Is there any way to recover from this or am I buying a new phone? UGH UGH UGH.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - I work in technology so being without a phone, even for a few hours won't fly so I may be driving to Sprint here in a few minutes...

When you have it plugged in is it not recognizing or what is it doing? The reason I am asking is because, depending on how your dog pulled out/ stepped on the wire may tell you if the adapter in the phone is broken. When your in flashtool and it is searching try moving the wire in phone up and down till you find a "Sweet spot" then just hold it like that till it is done. Also change the usb on the computer you are using like try a different usb port. Not on the software on the sides
If you need any more help like really fast just PM me or else I wont check this till like tomorrow
First thanks for taking the time to help. It's never recognized by my Windows 8 box as it never gets into recovery or download mode. When I try download mode it simple reboots back to the LG screen and with recovery it says its entering recovery then reboots. So the PC never ever sees it in device manager at all as it won't boot that far. Honestly I think it's toast and I'm just gonna have to replace it. Ugh.
-Ross
Since your phone is in that little area you maybe able to run the command: adb reboot bootloader
defiantly try the wire jiggle thing that maybe the reason I had a similar problem with a nexus 4 my dog stepped on the wire while it was charging and the bottom adapter messed up and I had to hold a wire for like a half hour to get it to flashback then I just had to return it to t-mobile.
All change usb port use another one that you know works.
It's not a physical connection issue now - that works fine. it's that since it got cut off mid flash I think the boot loader is only half written or something. So it never shows in ADB since it just reboots over and over and over. Nothing can get it to stop/settle down.
I assume I'll be taking it to Sprint tomorrow to see if they'll be nice to me...
