Please could someone help. I have TnT lite 4.2.4 installed on my tablet. This morning I tried installing angry birds, it downloads fine but gives an error when it installs. I had previously deleted it. I tried installing from the market as well as sideloading it from an APK. Still don't want to install. Please help!

I don't know what file manager you have installed on your gtab, but I suggest to use Root Explorer or Rom Manager to do this, or install Terminal Emulator.
If you use Root Explorer or Rom Manager, when you go to these directories, change mount from r/o to r/w. If you use Terminal Emulator, make sure you are logged in as su (super user).
Check the following locations for AngryBirds files:
1) /data/data/ directory - Remove any com.rovio.angrybirds directories2) /mnt/asec/ directory - Remove any com.rovio.angrybirds directories
3) /mnt/secure/asec/ directory - verify com.rovio.angrybirds files are gone. If not, remove.
4) Go through the list of programs in Titanium Backup, and double-check to make sure you don't find Angry Birds listed anywhere (not crossed out). If you do find an entry, use Titanium Backup to uninstall.
Reboot into recovery. Wipe cache only, then restart.
Then, install Angry Birds from Android Market.
Hi
Thanks for your response. I managed to remove that file and now it installs perfectly!
You are a star!
Anry Birds still not installing
I am still having "Installation error - unknown reason -18" when trying to install Angry Birds. I cannot find any rovio files/directories using Root Explorer and Titanium backup. No "rovio" files returned when searching with Root Explorer. I am running Tnt Lite v4.40.
It was preinstalled and working on the stock ROM when I bought the tablet new from CompUSA if that makes any difference.
Any help would be appreciated.

I couldn’t install the Gmail.APK from the Android Market. It kept saying something about "installation unsuccessful".
I backed up and uninstalled using Titanium Backup, then I downloaded the APK and installed it.
Synced my accounts and good to go.
installed fine for me...running CELB Froyo.
Yeah, I'm running KaosFroyo v31. Maybe upgrading to the latest version fixes it. I'll try it later.
If you get a signature failure when installing from market just do the following:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
rm /system/app/Gmail.apk
pm uninstall com.google.android.gm-1.apk
it may need be /system/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk or even /data/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk
and you should be able to install fine from the market.
Running KaosFroyo v35-1, I kept getting "installation unsuccessful" errors when installing from the market or from this downloaded apk (Thanks a bunch, btw!)
Got it to work this way:
1) Using Root Explorer, renamed gmail.apk to gmail.bak in system\app\
2) Reboot phone
3) Ran the gmail.apk acquired here, though I assume that the market installation may work at this step, too.
So good I said it twice!
I tried uninstalling it and then installing from the Market and it still failed. I had to install from the downloaded APK. I have no idea why.
It installed just fine in Nonsensikal 7
Just installed successfully on KaosFroyo v35.

is it just me..or when I installed 35-1, I swear the new gmail came with it...or it auto downloaded from the market and I didnt realize it... but I just went to the market, did a search for GMAIL, and downloaded it which installed correctly.
When I loaded the "downloaded" one, it looked like the one that came with 35-1.
Did I miss something?

I tried this method. However when I rebooted, GMail (or rather GMail_V2.1.1)reverted back to being a .apk file. It is as if the changes carried out in Root Explorer are not sustained following a reboot.
Guessing this is Froyo Only...

I tried to this and it won't work on my rooted desire, after I reboot I've noticed in root explorer the gmail revert back to .apk. Even when I try to uninstall using titanium, the app is still there on my phone.
Updating Google Apps fail on Tazzv5, but if I uninstall that app with titanium and reboot it will install correcly
Downloading now.. Thank u!!
I tried this command: adb remount
I always get this error:
remount failed: No such file or directory
But, I can find my device with adb devices

Got my G Tablet the other day and installed ClockworkMod and TNT Lite 4.4.0. I was able to get a few apps to install from the market, but most caused the launcher to force close once they hit the install phase (downloaded just fine).
I downloaded ConnectBot from the developer site and figured I would use adb to install the apk. Turns out that also causes the launcher to force close and so does putting the apk on the sdcard and using the file manager to open it with the installer.
Ideas?
[EDIT]
BTW, the symptom was that the launcher would close and I'd go back to the boot animation for a few seconds and back to the lock screen.
Update:
I rebooted and went into clockworkmod and did a factory reset. I'm now able to install everything I want except.... I was able to install Angry Birds Rio, which had been on there before the wipe. I cannot install Angry Birds or Seasons (both on there before). They both fail with unknown reason: -18.
I've wiped the cache and dalvik cache in clockworkmod as well used the fix permissions. Still cannot install those apps.
Ideas?
USB connected. Went into Master/Apps and found an Angry Birds APK file. Removed it to my laptop and then tried the install. Worked and so Did AB Seasons.
SOLVED!

Just reinstall it from the market once Gingerblur is installed. If you cant, then enable side loading via gladenable and then you can install it from the sd or internal memory granted you have the apk.
Edit: If you paid for it legitimately then there will be no problem getting it off the market again, you wont have to pay for it again. There is a way to pull the apk off, but your going to have to tryout that search button for that one, I dont have time to get it for you as i am at work and should be working lol.
well the problem is that for the atrix the market version of NFS isn't compatible.Only the one that comes pre-installed so I don't know how to get it to work, and being that I already bought the game i'd hate to not be able to use it I really like this game.
Get root explorer and navigate to \data\app. Copy the apk to sd card then move it too your pc for safe keeping while you ginger blur. Move back to sd card and install, phoned must be rooted to use root explorer to pull apk off phoned and sideloading must be enabled to reinstall it.

Assuming you're rooted, couldn't you just as easily use TitaniumBackup to backup the apps and then restore it once you flash the rom?
well yea I am rooted and when I used root explorer to look for the NFS apk prior to flashing rom there was no apk.Remember that since it comes pre installed as a demo with the option to purchase. The only place I was able to find anything NFS was in the pre intall folder wich contaned an md5 nfs file and another nfs fine that was the size of the app itself.
I really should have bought titanium backup maybe I'll flash back to stock and back up and reinstall ROM.....its gonna be a long day
This just dawned on me. On the Gingerblur 4.5 website there is a link to DL the bloatware restorer after gingerblur is installed. I just checked it and NFS shift is included. A CWM install and all the stock installed apps will be available again, NFS shift included.
You should then be able to just copy your save files back into their respected folders and back full tilt again. Hope you get this before you started the process over again.
Actually I just restored NFS,Flash 10.3 and Quick office through root explorer very easy once someone told me where to look, also changed the boot animation and that's all it took was changing some names of file and rebooting and then was all good. Also if you use ADW launcher free you can run gingerblur on landscape on the homescreen.
Long story short, i have had the Droid razr for about a month and as soon I got the device, I flashed over the Black Widow ICS rom. Everything worked fine and smoothly but then a noticed a problem and hopefully you guys can help me.
There are updates for various Google Apps (Gapps) that i installed when flashing over the ROM. If I look at my apps within the Google Market as a whole, under the Installed tab, nothing needs updating. But for instance, if i click on Gmail, theres a update for it.
So first i was like cool, Ill try to download it. Downloads fine when it tries to Update, it says " Error - Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again" I understand what the error code means so I think to myself, "ok ill just delete the app and download using the Market."
Go to Manage Apps, and all i can do is Disable the so-called app but i cant uninstall it. So i thought, "ok ill try to uninstall it through the Google Market. Nope, the only two options are UPDATE and OPEN.
So i need you help. Should i download a newer version of GAPPS or is there a easier way to uninstall so i can just re-download it again.
Thanks EHB
Use a root browser (like es file explorer) make sure the /system is accessible and root enabled.
Go to /system/apps and delete the .apk for it
Same thing happened to me with the Arctic rom, maps wouldn't update, so i just got maps from the market after deleting it

Use Root Explorer as then 2 apps above is not powerful enough to delete the system file. Be sure you are on R/W mode, you can check on the upper right part of Root Explorer. That should do the trick.
You said you flashed a new Rom, which means you know how to use recovery. From the text it shows when you install a GApps package, it deletes the old files before adding the new ones. Now, I haven't actually looked at the install code but I wouldn't imagine Cyanogen or whomever the builder of that package is, would lie about something that thousands of people use?
Anyways, just try flashing a new GApps package. A few of the ones I have flashed have had Gmail included while others have not.

hi,
long story short i ended up with angry birds partially installed on my system. Titanium backup pro is not able to restore the application(hangs on restore), when i try to side-load the app im getting Application Not Installed error. When i try to install it via market, im getting incompatible update error. Angry birds is nowhere to be found in the system(root) folder and also i cant see it in "installed apps".
I tried to unmount SDcard(SW and also in real life), remove everything with ROVIO or ANGRY from root, wiped dalvik and cache partition.
So i was wondering, where does the system store installed application list?
Is there any way how to force install the apk?
I have found 2 possible solutions, modifying Androidmanifest.xml of the apk or loading the apk with package installer. will any of those help?(i wont have access for PC for several hours).
thanks.
