Hi All,
Been a while since I've posted on XDA, but then my Desire is running perfectly!
A friend of mine has a T-Mobile G2 that has never been updated and now she'd like some 2.1 goodness!
I've tried setting the date forward, *#*#checkin#*#* and *#*#682#*#* without success so I'd like to try it manually.
The phone is running 1.76.110.6 with radio 63.18.55.06U_6.35.04.25 and HBOOT-1.76.0004
Is there anything I need to do first or can I just flash straight to:
RUU_Hero_T-Mobile_UK_2.73.110.26_release_signed_NoDriver
and
update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26-signed
??

I have tried several times to do a firmware update for the T-mobile G2 (Dutch version). I don't think there is any difference between the dutch or the english version.
Everything goes until the firmware updates really starts. I get a message bootloader starts over again! and then that the firmware update fails.
My G2 has been rooted, but i turned all back to the original backup. (I Think)
Modelnr: T-Mobile G2 Touch
Firmwareversion: 1.5
Smallbandversion: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Buildnr: 1.76.110.6 146733 CL#47214
Softwareversion: 1.0.0.A6288
Is there anyone who can help me so that i can use the firmware update. I hear a lot of complaint over this update, but I need to be able to acces a WiFi network.
Are you using the RUU process? If so, it's probable that it is failing the CID check as you are T-Mobile NL rather than T-Mobile UK (though I'd expect to see a message to that effect!).
What is wrong with your WiFi?
Regards,
Dave
My problem with the wifi is that i can't setup security certificates. I read that it become possible from the new firmware.
Someone told me it was possible to install the T-mobile UK version. But then i have to wait until the dutch supported version. Thank you for your response.

I believe that is part of Donut, and not in the current update ROMs. However, if you install a rooted ROM, it is possible that this app may help:

To reiterate - you *MUST* have a rooted ROM in order to use this application.

Hello all,
Apologies is this has come up in the forums before but I hve looked through and couldn't find an answer.
Basically I bought a used G2 from ebay that was locked (& branded) to T-Mobile. I had it rooted/unlocked and now am on a Vodafone 30 day contract. It is currently running android 1.5.
I have not been prompted by the OTA update. I am unsure whether I use Vodafone or T-Mobile software for the update, or whether there is maybe a generic HTC version available? I want to make sure that the phone is left open to work on Vodafone after the updgrade also.
If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated,
Thank you very much in advance!!
Keith
If you're going to stick with the official releases just flash the WWE version (which you should be able to find a link on here somewhere). Bear in mind that this will permanently lock you into v2.1 official releases as there is no known method to gain root on 2.1 as of yet and custom rom's will be out of the question.
The Vodafone and T-Mobile versions of the software mainly contain advertisement rather than actual changes.
duno if it helps but i was gettin pissed waiting for the t-mobile ota update, so i created a gold card using the method in another section, downgraded to the generic rom then run both ota updates when my phone promted me (setting my date 1 year ahead) i did not like the 2.1 as it was running peep and teh rest that i never use, i just reflashed it with the generic 1.5 rom i used originaly, installed flashrec and a recovery image, and is now running, happly, vallian 12. i was originaly on the latest t-mobile firmware.
duno if that helps? or was it a cooked version of 2.1 it downloaded via the ota system?
i is still happly rooted.
Hi,
I have a Hero (A6262) bought in australia (from australian retailer) and have successfully rooted/ran custom Roms previously.
I currently have Arman's bootloader installed and can easily switch between custom roms.
however, I simply want to revert back to the shipped rom (for warranty purposes) but every single original HTC RUU I have tried errors with "invalid custom ID". I've tried every single WWE stock RUU from the "[ROM] Official HTC Hero RUU ROM + Radio Links" list... but to no avail...
Could anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong, or to point me to the correct RUU please?
thanks for your time
found my issue - well I think i did ....
it now works after updating to the latest RA Recovery rom... all ID issues resovled.
weird ;-)
Hi, were you able to find an Australian RUU? my hero cannot get pass bootloader screen and it would be really great for me to have the Australian RUU.
thanks
I too need a stock AUSTRALIAN hero RUU or ROM. I don't care if its 1.5 or 2.1 just something completely stock and local.
Ok with a little more searching i fond this [ROM]RUU_Hero_hTC_Asia_AUS_3.39.710.1
I cant post links but search this and you should find it
About to try it.
Hi there,
I'm planning on selling my Dutch G2, so i unrooted, installed the official T-Mobile UK 1.5 from the HTC site. And now i got build number: 2.73.110.26 CL#69351
But no OTA is appearing, not even after these tricks:
- set the date 1 month and/or year ahead;
- switching from 3G to WiFi and back;
- rebooting and try any of these steps again;
Does anyone have any other tips?
It's really frustrating that 1.6 and 2.1 are still not downloadable as zip..
Thanks, cheers.
After two days I finally got the updates! i guess forcing an update is simply not possible anymore (with the G2)..
i had the same issue but it worked when i forced FOTA (if it is corect to say that) using the code *#*#682#*#*
Hi, last December I bought an international One X+ at Vodafone Czech Republic (unbranded) and started playing with it immediately. After trying out several ROMs I decided that I was most satisfied with the stock version, only with root. Unfortunately I lost my original backup of the stock ROM so I used the link towards the stock RUUs in hasoon's toolkit. Then I was stupid enough to flash the newest European RUU I found without knowing which one I had originally: 1.17.401.1. I also flashed back the stock recovery since I believed that it will enable OTA updates in the future. Everything was fine until today when I wanted to update to 4.2.2 and encountered a problem - the update downloads successfully and the installation starts only to be interrupted approximately one third along the way and the phone reboots. Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks a lot guys!

You might try it a few times. If you are unable to download the OTA - it means you are good to go for OTA...
