hi all
Do not have any idea for solving this problem .

Im not saying this is correct, nor am I responsible if you mess your phone up. But this is the method I use to move the apps to SD.
I have apps to SD, it moves some of the items but alot of them say they cannot be moved. I use Titanium backup pro to move those. you can long press the item and it has an option to move to SD. The only thing that I've found that doesn't work when moved to the SD using this method is wigits and some system apps.
1 - load Titanium backup
2 - click backup restore
3 - long press the app you want to move
4 - select move to SD card
once moved test the app to make sure it still works.
I've tested this on the default system for my t-509 as well as Mik's Cyanogen 7 mod.

use move2sd enabler from the market
i forgot were i saw this but i didnt come up with it.
if you use this app your able to move apps like google maps to the SD. after you install it and choose external then apply, you must uninstall Gmaps and facebook. re install then and then you should be able to move hen to sd via settings. i haven't tested this on all system apps but it worked on google maps and facebook which i never been able to put on SD and both are pretty hefty. so far i got no problems with the apps at all ill post more apps that work.
just realized that titanium back up is a better method thanks Jmodix

This appliable only in case when you are taking backup as in copy /data/app you also need to take backup of app apeksha from sdcard also that's why we have backup software's.

Hello!
I am a newbie to Android just migrated from a Symbian. I own a Samsung Ace, and also plan buying an Xperia Play.
When installing an application in symbian the phone asks if we want to save it in the memory card or the internal memory. How do we do this in Android phones and specifically (if it is different for every phone) in Ace and Play?
For example I installed talking tom cat 2 in Ace, the moment I opened it asked my permission to install another package, only once that was installed I was able to use the application. Then after sometime I uninstalled the app. using task manager. But the question is how do I get rid of the extra package and where has it been installed any ways.
There is no place where this information is available for a newbie.
Android at first seems a little confusing.
Also what is this ROM thing, tried to search it but didn't find anything?
Please reply soon.
Thanks.
Everything, go to settings>applications>manage applications. This should be uniform across android devices.
Normally downloaded data goes to sdcard/Android/data. Check in dis directory.

Like mentioned in the prev post it might either be in /sdcard/android/data or in the appropriate folder names under /sdcard
In your case, i think a folder named "talking tom" might be created under /sdcard
Your mishandled/broken files would be in /sdcard/LOST.DIR

installed data goes to your system/data, what the hell are you talking about?! You mean if I take out my sd all apps mysteriously disappear?

If the app is installed in SD card then for sure it wont work when u remove the SD card.
When you uninstall an app the folders and files particular to that app in /system/data would get removed automatically and the files n folders on those in SD card needs to be removed manually.
Correct me if im wrong, Thanks.
PS: Im not in for any argument and happy to correct myself

ur actually correct. any leftover on sdcard wont be remove by default when uninstalling particular app that created them. eg many games will download its data when running it for the first time, and that data will be placed on sdcard. furthermore that data wouldnt be deleted when we uninstall that particular game that creating it, it need to be removed/deleted manually. i think same goes in op case, that "talking tom" app download its data when on first run and put it in sdcard.
Okay, I see the logic now. OP mentioned installing an additional package and that's probably not an app but just data, am I correct? Sorry for getting too heated up

You mean normally the applications we install like facebook, twitter, talking tom cat 2, angry birds etc. etc. go directly to the SD-Card ?????
I thought, in Androids, it goes to the internal memory.
Because a friend of mine said that the only reason people still opt for iphones instead of android is this; that you can't enjoy the use of an SD-Card.

Okay.
But my question is : Can I somehow install the application (like tom cat) directly in the Sd-Card in the first place. I am not worried about removing my card, because I have a 32 gb one.

Hello!
Thanks for the reply.
But I don't think this is the ROM they are talking about on this website. The one you mentioned is Hardware. What they are discussing seems to be some type of software.
It's called read-only memory. It's like your xp in your computer, or windows 7, or Linux.
Edit: some applications cannot be installed into the sd card but with darktremor a2sd script it can make most apps migrate a portion of its space to the ext partition of the sd card. Do a search on google about a2sd. Also, installed data normally goes to /data/app which is internal storage. Certain apps may move their data to the .asec folder in the sd.
Hi guys, I am running cm10.1.3RC2 (so my device is rooted) and I want to utilize my 32gb SD card. Does anyone know how I can move apps to my sd card?
Also, does anyone know a safe way to re partition my internal HD so I can free up the 8.xgb of data that touchwiz used that I no longer will?
Please let me know if you can help!!
I would suggest buying and download Titanium Backup, an EXTREMELY useful app for more than just what you are asking for. With this app you can move them as easy as this! There are also several free apps that should do just what you are asking: AppMgr III, App2SD, Apps 2 SD. If you use any of those, be sure to read their instructions as the first of those three requires the SGS4 to be updated to the latest ROM first (which I don't think you want to do).
Here is a list of bloatware you can delete to free up some space. Some may take up next-to-nothing, but others may be taking up quite-a-bit. Notice that they are using Titanium Backup to make a backup first, just in case you delete something you wanted to keep or need.
You can also find ROMs like AOSP ROMs, which should help in recovering a lot of that space. But be sure to research, there are always things to take note of (i.e. many people believe the TW ROM has a better quality camera than the AOSP ROMs).

Thanks for the advice! I downloaded app2sd and it says my phone is not supported. Additionally, with the flashing of the CM10.1.3RC2, I deleted all bloat ware, but still only have 9gb available.
When I follow the directions regarding moving to sd from titanium, when I clock backup/restore, no apps show up. I am using the pro version (the free version, not the pay-for version), could that be the issue?
Thanks!
I use "folder mount" as a way to move folders from my device to my sd card. I bought the app.
I'm not real sure if tibu can move them. But, to find out, go into preferences, scroll down to backup folder location and click on it. See where it has your back ups going to. If it is not to your external sd card, see if you can create a path to it. I'm not sure if it will or not, but look at it and see. Other than those two suggestions, I guess you can take the ota update as that is supposed to let you move things to the sd card, I think.

I believe you need the paid version to do most of the useful things on Titanium Backup, I was never ever to accomplish anything with the free version.
You could try gimpy's suggestion of Folder Mount.
Nandroid Manager may let you do something in their free version, not sure though.
You can also try this method, but this will just make sure everything from then on will go onto your SD card (which will act like internal memory).

RootExplorer is free and you can move and rename any folder. I would use this over folder mount just in my opinion. Easy to find your apps and move them right to your extsd card. But there are a ton of options. And for what your talking about on Titanium you have to have the pro version free doesn't let you.
i am trying to find the app described in the title. i looked around for a bout 5 hours and found some things similar but nothing worked for my purposes. I'm new at rooting android but managed to root my little sisters LG L9 P769. After installing a trying a few apps like, "gemini app manager", "MoveToSD", and others... They all say can not move app or your device dose not support moving apps, but i thought that was the whole point of rooting it?....
i just want a simple app manager that will allow her to move the apps to the sd card because of the minimal internal storage. if there is anything i can to do to make this happen please let me know. any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

I use Titanium Backup to move app to sdcard. Click on Backup/Restore tab, select app. In app dialog goto Special feature tab, "Move to SD card" is in there.

Hi ODeezy2EZ, you could create an ext2 partition in your SD card and try link2sd, it's not exactly what you have described in the title, but it works fine for me.
Cheers. Good luck.

Oh, I don't notice that my rom has swapped internal/external sdcard so it has move to sdcard option in Titanium backup. if you root your phone and on P769 LG stock rom, there're some thread about edit a line in build.prop to enable move to sdcard in LG stock Settings by @kuma82. Please search for it.
I moved some of my apps to SD card with this program. Everything worked fine until I rebooted phone - apps disappeared. I can find them at the bottom of list in Titanium, gray, crossed and instead of app name there's for example:"com.google.android.youtube". I can't move apps back to phone or even uninstall them. I'm total noob with original ROM, root acces (via Lucky Patcher) and with any kind of App2SD or something like that.
Sorry for asking stupid questions but I was trying google the answer for a long time but didn't find any. Want to make proper root asap but need my apps back first. Think there could be a way - move apps manually with Root Explorer etc but donno where to look :silly:
Thanks for any help! :good:
