Gingerbread sound issue - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've installed the leaked version of Gingerbread on my Galaxy S and now I'm having trouble with the sound.
When I call or receive calls from someone I cannot hear anything but the other person CAN.
When I play a video I can see it but I cannot hear it.
When I try to play a song with Mortplayer I cannot hear anything.
BUT when I set the ringtone settings or the phones volume I can hear everything. I can even preview the songs I want to use as ringtones.
Can anyone assist? I really need to be able to make/receive calls ASAP. I'm currently applying for several job offers and waiting for a response.

Insane development to this matter. When I plug the headphone on the Galaxy S I can hear the sound through the SPEAKERS!!! If I pull the headphone jack out there's the speakers stop playing the sound again.

it seems you haven't read the OP in the gingerbread i9k port threads because this is a known issue with them and there is a toggle headset widget that "fixes" this.

Would you happen to have the link for it?

i'm not going to spoon feed you when it's in the dev section

Could you at least point me in the thread's direction? The original leaked gingerbread thread was deleted so I really don't know which thread do you mean.

[Q] CM7 Thunderbolt sound problem

I wasn't able to post on the dev. part of the TB forum since I don't have 10 posts, I searched and couldn't find anything that really fit my problem.
My problem; I've been on CM7 for maybe a month now and it's starting to drive me crazy. When I'm listening to the radio or music or something at work and a notification sound plays, well it doesn't really play it just makes my music go silent for a few seconds then continues to play my music. That's a little annoying but I learned to live with it, but more times than not when I get a text or any other sound that will play over what I'm listening to my sound completely cuts out and doesn't come back, I hear a sort of static sound so I have to restart my phone. I ended up disabling all notification sounds so it doesn't do that but sometimes when I even load up skype when it has that sound play it does it. What would the problem be? any help would be great, thank you so much!
A little question, this is my first time installing a rom, lets say I want to update it, I get the latest kernal, that doesn't wipe everything on my phone right? It's basically just like an update? Again thank you so much!
CM7 is amazing, thank you for putting your time and effort into making it!

installing a kernel will not wipe your rom, but installing a rom will wipe out the kernel you had previously to whatever comes with the rom. It's also better to post questions generally here than the developer's forum.
FWIW I'm on stock rooted and every now and then I'll lose the mp3 player sound (player will show its playing, but no sound from headphones or back speaker) after the phone rings or some other alert goes off, and the only way I've found to get the mp3 player to provide sound again is to reboot.
So this might problem might not be limited to CM7.

[Q] Force mono sound

Hi folks,
I was hoping someone could help me out with this. I'm unable to hear in my right ear, so i need to wear one earphone. The problem is, obviously, that i miss half the sound of a lot of songs due them being played in stereo. I was wondering if there's a way to force all the music through the headphones to be played in mono?
I've done a bit of searching Google on this, didn't really find very much, although there was vague mention of being able to edit a system file on a rooted device to achieve this. Anyone know if this is true, or of any other way to get mono sound?
Any help would be appreciated!
Friendly bump! :fingers-crossed:

I appreciate the reply I did come across this app, I was hoping there might of been a way to do it whilst using standard headphones, instead of bluetooth. I guess there's no way this can be done at present

Stock headset not working?

Just curious if anybody else is having issues using the samsungs headset that comes with the phone. They work great as headphones, and i can hear ringtones while listening to music. The issue is that as soon as it goes into a call i cant hear anything. When i make a call i cant even hear it ringing through the headset. I have tried it on touchwiz based roms and aokp/cm roms. When i hang up the call, it plays the call dropped tone through the headset so i dont get why it specifically wont play the phone call. I will add that when i plug in my regular headphones i can hear the call but only through one side of the headphones. I just find it weird and very inconvient cause i cant make any handsfree calls.

[Q] Skype Voice Calling on 4.4+

I use voice chat on Skype a lot, but I also love the speed from 4.4.1 + crpalmer's kernel + bionic libs, however, there's one thing that's keeping me away from that speed, and that's voice chatting being broken on 4.4..Does anyone know a fix for this or know what kind of problem it is? Is it a 4.4 ROM problem or a kernel problem? Whether stock kernel or crpalmers, whenever I initiate a Skype call, it literally kills my ears, it makes this extremely loud screeching and static-y noise that never goes away unless I restart my phone...Anyone know what's up with this?

Have you tried last night's CM 11.0 nightly build? I specifically posted in that thread (which is where you should be looking to see if there is anything new) that I had pushed changes that *might* fix Skype problems and asking for feedback and yet I received 0 feedback.

Oh alright, I'll try it out right now, I'm booting into recovery, I'll get back to you with results in about 5 minutes.

Sorry for double post, I just wanted to make sure you saw it, but, Skype calling still makes that horrific static noise as before, thanks for trying to help anyway though.

What version did you install? (Specifically)
Are you using your phone as a phone, speaker phone, headset, bluetooth?

I'm using my headphones to test the Skype call audio, and I'm testing 20131211. I'll try speaker phone audio right now.
EDIT: I don't even hear anything when Skype calling through phone speaker, no call tone or anything.

That sounds like the behaviour prior to the changes I pushed. I just double checked an a wired headset is working fine for me.
What does your phone say in Settings >> About Phone >> CyanogenMod Version?

Android audio routing

Hi,
I got a problem that my Samsung Galaxy S5 route all audio to earphones.
I would like to route all media to speaker and all phonecalls to headset (and if possible bluetooth).
I don't mind customizing ROM if needed.
Any idea how can I do that?
Thanks!
Help?
first: ask with understandable words. lol i don't know what are ur plans
i know this is really old but to anyone having these issues, install soundabout you can use it to force audio to a certain output for calls, media, ect really helps when your headphones start to break and android doesnt want to detect them even though they work
EDIT: I misunderstood the last post as a question. Didn't mean to repeat the same answer to an old thread.
Not really a full answer but I am currently having similar issues. There seem to be audio routing apps like Audio Router (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=audiomix.audiooutputsource) and SoundAbout (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix) than can do the job. I can't exactly tell how they work but maybe someone else knows. Or you'll figure it out.
Feel free to post your results
Have the same problem. But neither Audio Router (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ooutputsource) nor SoundAbout (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oneroutingfix) can't route SMS notification away from headphones.
Sounds terrible. Most modern android smartphones are worse in this regard than ordinary simple cell-phones.
I wonder how things are in this regard in Windows Background.
