Any way to get built in linux movies to play on phone? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

While the Atrix was in the laptop dock I noticed there were 4 built in demo video clips available. Has anyone saved those videos? Is there a way to play those videos on the phone without docking? These were 720p movies BTW.

Can the Flyer play high-profile .mkv movies?
Also, can you transfer a 5-8 GB movie file to the Flyer and play it flawlessly?
The Playbook does NFTS storage so you can play 6 - 8 GB movie files. I don't know if the Flyer can do NFTS or not.
you mean, you'd like to know if you can format your SD card as a NTFS drive, and copy large video files on it?
No it won't play. I tried loading 720 mkv and it doesn't play. But the SD card is supported.
I tried to with an app downloaded from the market, it does play with sounds, but the picture is not that great.
I am using Plex to play all my videos (all file types including mkv). Plex re-encodes on the fly, saving you from having to re-encode your video for your specific device.
When I had my Transformer, I was not happy with the quality of the video. But on the Flyer's 7" screen its acceptable.
I need to set up a remote server so I can watch my vids remotely away from home.

:O i'm gonna try it, thanks for the info
Using Plex Remotely
Using this guide below, I was able to remotely access my Plex Media Server with my Flyer tethered to my HTC Thunderbolt.

Of note: To test your remote connection, make sure your Flyer is not connected to your home wifi network. In my case I tethered my Flyer to my Thunderbolt.
It works beautifully I might add.

I've read the vplayer and rockplayer should support MKVs. Supposedly you can get a cable for 1080p HDMI playback on an external source. I have not tried any of the above.

Maybe you can connect in 1080p but from what I've read the chipset does not support 1080p video decoding.
vplayer and rockplayer would not play back 720p mkvs for me. it would play 720p avi.
I cant remember which one it was, but one of the video players i tried would play them back on "software decoding" (as opposed to "hardware decoding"), but it didn't look good.
Try Moboplayer. It plays back 720p mkvs for me. Its not super smooth but its the lowest frame drops i've seen.

Motorola Webtop and codecs

I recently bought a HD Multimedia Dock in hope to see movies on my phone connected to the tv instead of my computer. Well, of course it wouldn't work so great as I thought it would. Most of the movies and series can't be processed.. well the Movie Player app which came with the Atrix can't handle it either. MoboPlayer have been working, after I've "Soft Decoded" the file. Is there any codecs they will provide us with later? Because this wasn't what I was looking forward to. Also its not totally fullscreen, all the menus are visible around the screen when I'm using MoboPlayer.
I recently push several videos on 720p and 1080p
First I can't play with original player
soo, I installed mobo player, vitaplayer and MX VideoPlayer
All players work....but omg...why?! 15fps?!
really 720p in 15fps?! I don't try the 1080p because obvious always need more processor for decoding
soo, it is caused by software or hardware?!

[Q] Screen rotation while using Videos app??

I'm wondering if anyone has found a way of making this happen, or if is even possible. I'd really like to be able to sit with the cable plugged in while watching a rented movie, but with the cable coming out of the top of the tab rather than the bottom. Thoughts or ideas?
Didn't test on stock video app but it works for me with Dice Player.
Edit: I just started stock player.. watching normal videos upsite down works too. Don't know bout rented videos
Well ok then does anybody know if there is a video app other than the stock Videos app that can play rented movies from the Market (I feel like this isn't possible, but I figured I'd throw it out there).

Still can't watch Google Movies over HDMI?

We still can't watch rented Google Movies over HDMI?
Audio comes thru to the TV and youtube, other videos, games, etc work fine.
Anyone able to watch Google Movies over HDMI?
google movies aren't high resolution anyway, right? I've watched in browser and I think it was 480p, not too good on a hd tv..

I used Kalemsoft with WebOS. It played 1080p and blue ray rips wonderfully. Android, and in the other hand, has problems still with video playback.
Press thanks if I helped!!

In webOs I use touchPlayer, in Android, meridian, mxvideo and moboot play just about everything for me.
webos.. kalemsoft works great. plus setsup and streams from another pc on lan or pc from out of lan hotspot..
all features work great and automatic
I use touchplayer for compatibility but it chokes on big HD stuff.
For anything serious I just encode it specifically for my touchpad. Then it plays fine even on the stock player. Including seek/skip.
I do a ton of encoding for youtube so doing a few movies for my touchpad is no biggie and even if I had a program like the fabled Kalimsoft that can play anything I would still encode it for my touchpad because I would rather have a 1.5GB movie instead of a 7GB one on a 32GB device.
I have no reason for a movie larger than the touchpads screen resolution since it does not even have a TV out feature like some other devices so its not like you will ever see it displayed in any resolution other than the screens native.
And yes I know my stuff so I made a tutorial on how to do it: http://youtu.be/6ayiV9e23-4
