Hi guys! I have had the fascinate for quite awhile and never knew it was wifi "N" capable. My phone syncs fine with wifi G, but how do you connect to N? When I go to the wifi options it just sees my "G" network. Before you say have you check to see if the "N" network is being broad casted it already is. My xbox 360 and laptop are sync to the N wifi network. I would assume someone has figured this out because the specs shows wifi 802.11 b/g/n networks. Thanks dudes.
I only run an N network and mine connects no problem didn't do anything fancy. I am using wpa2 instead of wep don't believe that would make a difference since usually anything that will do wpa2 will do wep lol. double check make sure you N network is broad casting at 2.4Mhz range and not 5Mhz. since you say you have both I'm just assuming you have a dual band router and that might the problem. again just assuming there, but the fascinate will not pick up the 5Mhz range

Here is my current wifi settings. I tried disabling just the "G" network and leaving the "N" on. When I rescanned for wifi networks from my fascinate it didn't detect the "N" wifi. Is there a setting some where I'm missing on the phone or in my settings?

Nevermind I think I answered my own question with your previous answer lol. I have the g and n wifi named as "b33zuG" and that's how it shows on my phone. My screenshot for 2.4 shows as b/g/n. But if this is the case how do I know it's the true N network and not G since there both in the same 2.4 bracket?
if is in the 300mbs mode then it's broadcasting the N network because G only maxes out at 54mbs.
SC2.8 WP7 Revolution
also I have the high end 300-300 netgear router and if I enable the 5mhz n-network it won't let me run N on the 2.4 st the same time only lets me either do G 2.4 N 5 our just N on 2.4 so maybe when you have both on your only getting the G?
SC2.8 WP7 Revolution
Yea, I have a dual band router at home and the phone's wifi scan only detects the G.
I have different SSIDs set up and my N network isnt listed...
I'm gonna put it in manually when i get home tonight and see if it does anything but I'm interested if anyone has a solid answer for this
Our phones wont do N in the 5Ghz spectrum, only 2.4Ghz.
I've connected to N at work and it drains my battery faster than anything else that I do to my phone. I am curious if anyone else had experienced this. G is great for battery life

My wifi N network seems yo run fine on my fascinate. Although its mostly on a charger so I can't comment on battery life

Seems like under honeycomb I could connect to my phones tether easily. Did the upgrade last night and now I can't connect. Just sits at obtaining IP address.
I was running a older 2.x build of it, so went to the homepage and tried 5 different versions on 3.x beta.x and none of them helped the situation.
Any others?
sh*t sorry, I don't know how I was in this forum! Please move!
I just moved and my cable and internet has not been hooked up yet so I have been using my phone to tether and it works everytime. I stopped usuing wi fi tehter app it doesnt seem to work anymore. I have been using open garden and it worked last night to update my transformer. Then it connected as soon as it rebooted with no problems.
#1 Love when people post in the wrong place!
#2 When they ask to have it moved afterwards!

open garden doesnt work either... the prime doesnt even see it as a wifi network
I've been using Bluetooth tethering and it still works after the ICS upgrade.
how do you get bluetooth tethering to work? I can't get it...
n/m i got it using open garden, and it opened up the sprint hotspot thingie and I had to check enable...which is weird...but it works.
I guess screw WIFI tether
I have a rooted Verizon 4G Samsung Charge. Was using Open Garden Wifi with no problem since I received my Transformer Prime.
Wifi Analyzer on Prime finds the wifi network but It doesnt show up at all in Wireless and Network settings. FML

For those using Open Garden Wifi, what frequency channel, transmit power, and LAN network settings are you using?
I have even tried Barnacle now with no luck~!
I have a Droid 2 with mobile hotspot feature. Using Auto-Tether makes it real simple and quick to switch it on remotely from the TP and connect. I've had no problem under HC and still no problem under ICS.
Ok so I got me new EVO LTE today. Nice device...but I have a problem. I was at a clients site today and used the wifi and it worked great. Got home and went to connect it to my network, it found the SSID, then authenticated, then showed connected. However, there is no network connection in the browser.
So a little background about this. My wife has the HTC one X and has had the same issue since she got it at our house. I thought it was an issue with her phone originally because all the other devices in the house work (EVO 4G, EVO View, E4GT, 2 laptops, 2 WDlive, and a smart TV)
Well now I know its not just her device. So what I have done and where it stands now. I used fing to see if I could see the rest of the network. I could see all the devices on it but could not ping anything. 100% packet loss.
I checked the router and it shows that the EVO LTE has an IP address that matches the one that is shown on the phone. I checked the server (windows SBS) and it shows that the EVO LTE has a IP Lease.
I am not able to ping the device from any system, including the server. I am not able to ping the router, server, or any device from the EVO LTE.
So I am stumped. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this?
I have disabled the firewall on both the server and router and still the same result.
I haven't run into this situation on my EVO but I have on other devices in the past. Is your SSID being broadcast or is it hidden? I don't broadcast my SSID and that was what caused this issue for me. So broadcasting, then setting up the connection from scratch with the device, then setting the router back to not broadcast did the trick for me. Haven't had an issue since with any of those other devices.
Seems weird seeing as it's connected to the router. Do you have a mac filter on your router? Did you add your phones to it?
Try setting a static IP from the phone instead of using the routers DHCP. Look at my attached picture for an example:

yea very odd
No, I don't have a MAC filter. Actually, I do, but I don't have it enabled.
Using the Firmware: DD-WRT v24SP2-MULTI (05/27/11) st on WZR-HP-G450H.
Setup a static IP and still no dice. Same as before, able to see all the other devices on the network but not able to get out.
Its as if there is a firewall...but there isn't.
@Salvasaur - yes broadcasting the SSID. My device connects to it right away, no problem. Its really the strangest thing that it is able to connect, shows an IP, the router and the server show that the device is connected, but it is not able to get out.
More strange is that the issue happens on both the HTC One X and also the EVO LTE. But all other devices work just fine.

I'm guessing it has something to do with our custom built firmware because I have a similar issue as yours. If my screen is off (this isn't the SmartSync issue some people are talking about) I get the same exact issue as yours. I think the newer HTC phones drop the transfer rate so low when the screen is on that the router doesn't broadcast at that speed. I know this doesn't help you but it would be nice if you could test when you get this sorted out.
The build date for my firmware is 6/14/11 are there any updates for your router?
EDIT: I'm sure you tried these but just to be clear try turning both the phone and router all the way off and back on again, toggle wi fi on and off again on your phone, try turning on best wi fi performance on your phone (remember to shut if back off because it will destroy your battery) and if you can try it on another LAN (or if you have another router, try that).
firmware update
Updated my firmware and problem solved. ugh! spent hours on that...should have thought to do that in the beginning. Thanks for the input everyone!
Hi all, i have an issue which has bothered me since I installed CM9.
My internet connection is 70/20 mbit. My router is an Asus RT-N16 running tomato firmware. It is locked to 802.11N, and runs on channel 1 (which is the best one with regarding interference from neighbors wifi).
My touchpad runs [09/24] AOKP&CM9Remix with WebOS Style
When I run the speedtest.net app from my touchpad I get approximately 2,5 mbit download, and 17 mbit upload. Why is the dl so slow, and the ul so fast? My macbook pro and iPhone is fine, and give me the correct speed.
Ive tried flashing update-ath6kl-v4.2-for-20120520-signed.zip, but it did not change anything. I also tried to disable WMM in the router, but no go with that either.
Any advice?
I sort of figured this out. If I disable 802.11n, and just enable 802.11g, the speeds stabilized at approx 10mbit up/down. The issue with that is that I don't want to limit my other devices to a slower speed (especially since my internet connection is 70mbit/20mbit).
Is there a wat to force 802.11g on just the Touchpad (disabling the 802.11n) so I can run the router in mixed mode (n-standard for the other devices, g-standard for the touchpad)?

what type of router is it? on mine in needed to diable WMM
Edit: i see you already tried that. Try disabling DMZ
DMZ is allready disabled.
It is an issue with the 802.11n on the Touchpad as far as I can tell (http://code.google.com/p/cmtouchpad/issues/detail?id=126).
Do you run 802.11n with no problems what so ever?

Im running n and dl speeds are what they're supposed to be... 20mbps
Thank you for your answers.
Hmm. Then there should be a setting somewhere in Tomato.
802.11g works fine, but 802.11n does not. Or the upload works fine, but the download seems "capped" at 2500kbit.
Got any suggestions?

I figured it out.
If I set 802.11n Preamble to "Mixed Mode" the download speed works like it should on the touchpad. That is also the default setting for Tomato, but I changed it when I set up the router due to "advice" from a website.
Thanks all.
Hi all. I have a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV s-edition 2017, who got app control through wifi spot from car. However, the wifi range is horrible, so I was wondering if you guys know of any phone that can be connected to both wifi net (without internet) and same time connected to internet through cellular data (3g or 4g)
What I want:
Have a phone in car, connected to the cars wifi net (no internet) and through perhaps an app like airdroid, connect to that phone, and that way connect to the car through internet.
I have tried this with honor 7, but this so called smart phone, either is on wifi with no internet, or cellular data with internet. It will not work on both nets at same time.
Is the any android phone this would work on, or is there any workaround/hack to make this work. Surely, this has to be possible?
-Thanx, Ray

If your android running on marshmallow then there is a option in developer setting of cellular data always active. Turn that feature on and connect to mobile data and wifi simultaneously.
Ashwinirg answered the question, but I want to throw in that there are services, like Speedify, which claim some sort of "channel bonding" that merge your WiFi with your data connection to enhance your speed. I have no idea if Speedify or similar services actually work, but if you're interesting in enabling wifi + cellular data together, you might want to look into those services also.

Don't know if it is available in android nougat but it may be it available on marshmallow then it also available in Nougat..
Update:
So I bought myself a Lenovo p2, cause of its bigger battery, but it seems like it's not able to go between cellular data and wifi seamlessly like honor 7 did. It got the same options in developer mode, but it's not working.

Certain apps work if set right. It's kind of like downloading a torrent. Multiple connections work together to transfer the same file resulting in much faster speeds.
hi i just got my redmagic 7 today i had 6pro before but on my redmagic 7 i cant find 5ghz wifi in wifi settings but it works perfectly fine on my redmagic 6 pro any idea? whats the problem i tried to reset didnt help
Argh mate.. I literally got mine in the post this morning, fired it up, start going through the usual android initial setup, asks to connect to wifi, there is my 5Ghz connection, I connect to it, boom, all good.
Then it tells me there is an update right away, straight after connecting to 5Ghz wifi, so of course I accept. It downloads, installs, tells me to reboot. I do.
Phone reboots, wifi no longer connected, asks me to connect to wifi. I search for my 5Ghz wifi, nada.zip.gone.
Oh, my 2.4Ghz connection is showing, just no more my 5Ghz...
So yeah, it's definitely the software update that has knocked 5Ghz wifi off for no apparent reason that I can fathom. Rather frustrating to say the least.

You need to either enable or disable 20/40hz coexist in your router. This is a normal thing for cheap wifi modules. My PS Vita and Xbox One are the same way. Wifi doesn't work at all if that is enabled or disabled. Can't remember which one it was. Haven't used those for years lol.
But it has something to do with 20hz and 40hz coexisting that makes 5Ghz not come up for some devices. It also limits your speed to 286mbps.
This will be fixed in software cause it's likely just a bug when they were optimizing better wifi stability but ended up dropping a portion of how 5Ghz works lol
