Hi forum.
Ok be honest.
Am i the ony one here there hope to see progress from the development team so mutch, that i check in and read the forum 3 or 4 times each day...?
I am shure there will be a development soon.
Btw. This is only ment as a little fun dev support, as i can`t help in any other way than moral support...
Send from my X10
Well, to be honest...
Am doin the same thing too...
But i dont think they would have any ROM before 2.1 for x10 release....
I used to do it, now I just don't think it will ever happen
Waiting for the F'n update from SE now
naah...ive given up on SE long back...im rooting for the devs...i think they r making progress...they can get a custom rom on the phone...but it keeps on rebooting...and they have more brains helping them now...
P.S. Check the devs custom rom thread twice daily...
i too am checking this thread multiple times a day.
hope,hope hope.
I gave up. I think that Devs are trying there best but they need more help. One dev named "Ghorog kun" was making good progress but i think that he abandoned ship. So i am trying to swap my X10 for an HD2 although i think that x10i has better hardware.
Checking 4 Times a day.
Dear Devs
Please break this thing and give us full glory of X10.
i check it evry 2 hours relly !
plez Dev. we are waiting for u !
Same here, checking 3-4 times everyday.
I hope we will have some news soon.
Cheers
I'm checking it every day too Wish I was a dev so I could post in that thread too
Yeah im checking non stop I hope it happens soon! We need a site like engadget or gizmodo to call on devs to help out lol
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Most of us do look up to our developers to crack the bootloader and bring better usability for our beloved X10 and one day they will have it.
For other Devs to find interest in such project, they need to have an X10.
Only thread that I check in Development.
I check it twice a dice. And pray for a cracked bootloader!
me too im checking the fourm 3-4 times put i gave up and i'm waiting htc desire hd
I am doing the same thing too, felt like an addict. I check at least 4 times a day even though I know there's not going to be much happening anytime soon. From what I see so far lots of effort have spent but only a few progress. Even if they manage to find ways to modify the spl and mcpu there's still a lot more to handle until we can load our own rom. But again, I still check no matter what.
I hope there will be progress soon
Checking the forum everyday.
I check here more then I check the update button on the phone.
Sent from my X10a using smoke signals.
I check once a day on average, hoping that they crack the bootloader before their patience wears out...much respect to the devs here.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Checking right now. I'm at page 33 atm. I'll see if I can help out.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
he-he-he....I do not check for updates, do not expect it.
I read that the update was moved to the end of October
Sorrowfully
By this, we can only wait.
Been spending too much time flipping back and forth between the dev forum and here trying to find the latest scoop on what is going on with a permanent root solution. With the threads getting closed and people getting banned over on the dev forum, not even the devs are posting any real updates there any more. And here... the threads are broken up. So how about one consolidated thread to talk about status, rumors, etc.? ONE place to go to get the latest scoop.
For example, TeamWin posted on Twitter yesterday that there are no big announcements and they've run into a lot of roadblocks. Also said something about having to try different avenues now. Sounds like permaroot could take a while. Maybe someone posted that info here somewhere, but it's hard to tell where to look any more to find the latest status, rumors, and talk about root. Even the devs have given up posting in the dev forum.
Mike
I think it's time to put the screws back to HTC to make good on their "promise"
This phone WILL be going back if they don't unlock it.
It's ok, as good as these devs are... I never really expected full root unless HTC unlocks the phone.
I just hate that this site, well at least the 3D section has become retardedly over moderated. Perfect example of someone who doesn't need a bus patrol badge IMO.
In before thread lockdown lol

Yep that's exactly what I was about to say. Heck, it's even stickied at the top of the dev page.. Not sure why this thread exists.
If you guys actually want success with the return under 30 days policy, you need to give that threat to the CARRIER and have them place the pressure on HTC. It will NOT hurt the HTC bottom line if you return your phone to sprint. Sprint already bought the phone FROM HTC. So it hurts Sprint, not HTC.

That thread (and the other one there) don't do the job. That's why this one exists! First of all, if I only wanted to be updated once a day, there wouldn't be a worn out blank key between F4 and F6 on my keyboard.
Second, us "normal" users can't post in that forum and those threads are not updated as regularly (or as well) as you say. Right now, if you wanted to know the latest status (from Twitter) that says "#teamwin No big announcement tonight. We hit some pretty big road blocks. But I'm working on a new angle to Fre3dom" you can't find it any place but here. People who have their ear to the ground should be able to post what they find... when they find it.

You won't get an ETA because one can't be given yet. Until someone actually achieves a full unlock, you can't possibly say how long it will take. You just keep trying different things until you break through. Once a full unlock is achieved then it's a matter of hours or a few days before it will be released so that the unlock can be put into an easy-to-use format & combined with other nice things like a custom recovery. There's also no telling who will find the unlock. It might be TeamWin or Unrevoked or someone else.

fre3dom is full root
Guys, can we please use better judgment when creating new threads? Many threads are redundant and is only cluttering the board. The Hero and EVO 4G boards were cleaner and more mature, then again maybe its because newer posters have less experience with forum etiquette. There are threads that adequately address the root status and progress, you can't get updates like a stock ticker. Your unrooted phone won't gain a thing from minimal updates, and asking for more than an update a day is a bit impatient. Let the devs work in peace, they are not obligated to do this and I'd rather they try to achieve full root rather than worry about reporting news. Even when they update no news they get criticized?
Not trying to be a **** or anything, but this is getting embarrassing. I have been getting tired of XDA because of the EVO 3D board, and thats a shame. I've seen devs walk away because of the behavior of people and to be honest its hard blaming them. If there is an update it'll be in the threads, the info is not hard to find. Let these guys work, they hammered away at code over the holiday weekend too so give them a break.

I think that this thread is better judgment. The Op posted that he wanted to discuss status, rumors, etc... Go post rumors in the actual dev threads. Tell me how that works out.
Whenever anyone posts in the the dev threads they are usually told to go make a post in general. Thats what this op did. I would rather see this thread created to discuss speculation then see the mods freak out because people are cluttering up the dev threads and start locking **** down so that the real Devs have to go post to forums other than XDA to get the word / files out. THAT is embarrassing. Not posting a thread to help keep the dev threads clean. Its not in the Dev forum, its in the general forum.
Let it be.
Oh and yeah... I'm not trying to be a **** either. Just telling you how it is when the Mods freak out over people talking in the Dev thread.
And who did you see walk away? They werent dedicated to the cause if they did. A real dev knows "newbish" behavior and also knows you wont stop it. EVER. So if they left... I say to them... Bye bye.
Fred3dom is no root...no shoot Sherlock..do we need to be censored for asking questions? To some..like me...root is a step to a more important goal...s-off. I am basing my decision to spend hard earned cash for this beast. And if these threads are out of hand...go to any forum...see if there is not humor(sometimes not related to the topic)...see if there is not a release of ideas that are free flowing. See if there is not a bond or sometimes hatred for others. The rules state...this thing is called xda is for sharing of ideas...by the community for the community, developers of software for these devices and newbies that need help. If we have such strict rules...then why have this forum? Learning is done by asking questions and sharing knowledge..not be being so strict...you don't have room to ask questions...and ideas are free forming as is knowledge...they are not something that can be censored...get a grip. ****...we could't even say thank you to the people who work hard to reach a goal...I don't know if you ever had a simple thanks for good work....this is just as important as info...and if you have not noticed...this thread is for root...for you it became a soapbox for yourself...what the he'll does that have to do with root?....a soapbox also...is not root.

Exactly! And try to find one thread where all the latest rumors and info is being posted. DOES NOT EXIST. That's exactly why this thread exists. So in keeping on topic, the latest rumor mill shows that HTC is apparently getting ready to unlock the bootloader on the Sensation. Rumors are the 3vo shouldn't be far behind. Details are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155755
My proposal was to keep ALL of this new info in ONE thread. Else you end up with the problem I was trying to solve which is every new little tidbit creating a new thread. Tomorrow "New email from HTC..." will be irrelevant to most and that'll scroll off the bottom of the forum and get lost for the people who haven't seen it yet. Post all this stuff HERE and we can keep up to date.
I know forum etiquette: I run my own forums. So I don't need lectures from mod-wanna-be's. But this IS a good place to keep all the info where everyone can see it: IF people stop posting every little tidbit as different threads.

Well said, i like this thread n thanx for the news, i really hope they unlock it
Okay. I posted my first ever question/request for advice the other day and, despite 79 views, I have had no response. Perhaps it was too dull for those who are more accomplished with all things Android and everybody assumed that somebody else would answer.
Perhaps within the morass of information on these forums the answers are already out there. Maybe, but who knows. In other forums people tend to at least say - look there for answers - and post a link to another thread. But, it has been Christmas and I guess we are all pretty busy this time of year - Merry Christmas to all by the way
So, I thought I would re-shape my question/needs here.
Could anybody give me, or at least point me in the direction of, a glossary of terms type of thing?
I need to know things like what does 'radio' mean? How does it relate to the 'flashing' process' , And any other terms which people take for granted as being blindingly obvious, but which may not be to those of us very inexperienced. This forum can be quite daunting, but still, enquiring minds wanna know
Any help, again, appreciated.

I would've loved to answer but perhaps you need to be more specific on what you want to be answered
you said you wanted to have 2.3.5 on ur DHD,but that doesn't tell anyone what you are asking for,if you are asking us to find a ROM for you,or how to flash a recovery first,or how to flash the ROM !
You should have to provide us more specific data, phone, model, rooted or stock, etc. It is normal that why you don't get replies.

HI, and thank you. Also apologies for my woolly question. And this is kind of my problem. When new to this even the questions I want answered are not always asked correctly. I was hoping to find a ROM for my Desire HD which has Sense 3.0. I have Gingerbread on the phone currently with Sense 2.1.
To be completely humble and honest, which I find to be the best way in almost all cases, I must say that I am not even sure what "how to flash a recovery" means, or "how to flash the ROM".
So, as you see, I am really new to this and feeling my way around. I am a quick learner though so I really just need bringing up to speed on a few of the basics and then I am sure I will be able to research my way around.
Anyway, thank you for your kind reply. I wasn't trying to be shirty with my post. I meant what I said - it is Christmas and I am sure people look in over the holidays but it is a busy time for everybody. I hope I have not caused offence.

Please read before you do anything at all. From your posts it is plain you are very new to Modding so it is very important you understand what your doing as it void your warrenty and if done wrong can brick your device. Start with the stickies in the DHD section and read those a couple of times. Then check the Q&A and read there as well.
As mentioned, read the stickies in your section, there should be a lot of information there. In my device's subfora, there are great stickies chocked full of information. If we had the same device, I'd post some links for you. There's also a glossary of sorts stickied in the Thunderbolt section. Not everything in it will apply to your device but it may help with some general terms.
Before I even rooted my device, I read all of the stickies and recommended links. I then read over the Q&A and general subfora just to get a feel for it. What I read didn't make a lot of sense at the time, but later I remembered it and it made more sense. I then rooted my device, then read and read and read before flashing my first rom (CM6 - it was a while back).
It's a process, and the more you read the more you'll understand, until eventually you can start answering some of the questions that go unanswered. Just give it time... and make sure that you know exactly what you're doing - and why - before you jump in to something.
Good luck!

Hi there Zendel.
Apologies for the lateness of this reply. Been a busy day. I wanted to say thanks for the advice and to also fill in a couple of blanks, if I may.
You are quite correct, I am very new to modding and my only fear is buggering it up, as we say in Lancashire lol. However, it has already been rooted by a friend who took me through the process over the phone some months ago.
When I first got the phone it was with Orange and had all that Orange junk and splash screen etc. Hence, my friend talked me through rooting and installing a standard factory ROM. It was a lot to take in and, at the time, I didn't make any notes along the way, which would have helped me now - hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they say.
More recently he pointed me at a link to a RUU (is that right?) so that I could upgrade from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1 - so, in a nutshell, void warranty is no longer a concern
I have taken a look at some of the stickies, though I have not studied them intensely at this point. I will spend more time looking however and come back, perhaps, with more questions - or at least more relevant questions I should hope

I think the idea is a good one. A bunch of the recognized contributors are trying to do something along those lines, but based on a FAQ. The idea is for most devices to end up with a FAQ with short answers to the common questions/problems. Since the answers are short, they almost always link to a longer guide/tut/resource.
fma965 put one up for the Xperia Play today, it is here if you want to take a look.
Is there any way to share op title or at least have an option for more than person to edit a post? And watch over the thread etc etc.

I think your idea is not bad but I think I already made a FAQ thread for it You can always PM me or tell me all kinds of your idea to improve it. I'm trying to make it as much helpful as I can and if you put your effort too, i think that guide can be extended to a greater level
Best Regards,
AJ

At the moment no. I think that people have asked for this in General - About xda forum. I seem to remember that it was going to be looked into...but it could be a while.
I don't think you can ever have too many guides as what you may find in one you might not find in another, but as already said it's pretty much covered in the guides/sticky department, and most of the solutions to common problems should be found by following Rule Number 1 anyway.
No offence, but the search tool of xda isn't quite up to the mark.

Agreed, but it IS an alternative. And I might point out that the search function is not the best. Case in point, I received a thunderbolt a few weeks ago, and while I was able to find what I needed to root it quickly, there things I needed to know that were no where to be found. As an RC, I knew better than to "just ask", but after I could not find my answer (although I'm sure it was here somewhere) I had to pull a n00b and ask. Of course, I was treated like a n00b with the typical "read the OP, search first" responses. NOT HELPFUL.

Google works perfectly, which is why its so frustrating when People say they've searched but not found what they're looking for, because most of the time typing a thread title or their question into Google finds it straight away, or is in one of the stickys they clearly haven't read.

Honestly, if you're lost navigating a website, take it very slow customizing your phone. Its a lot harder than clicking links with a mouse, and a mistake will be VERY costly.
Don't rush in. Just be a lurker and a reader for a while, at least until you can find your way around and know some basic stuff. Good luck.
I have always found The Unlockr to have very simple and precise instructions. I am also a very visual person so I use YouTube a lot.
Anyway, take your time, root and enjoy and welcome to the asylum!

Im not dumb. I know about rooting a phone installing ROM. overclocking etc.. even if Im not the one who does it.. my stepdad doess, all he told me to do was find a good ROM I like... Its just hard finding my way around here because ill find certain threads; however, they only have few replies, or the thread is discontinued or something and I got a little lost.

WOW, "most thread only have a few replies?" ................REALLY?
I think you are looking n the wrong section. as suggested, "Super Everything Thread". you could also look in the Development section. there are threads where I have 100+ posts myself.
I am sure you are not dumb, but you are coming across a little on the lazy side. sounds like you want everyone else to do the work here. you originally posted 3 days ago and haven't found anything yet
