Help please - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the record my phone was rooted on 2.2 using voodoo and Superclean 2.9.2.
I have no idea how to explain it but my internal storage is 0.00bytes and I can't install anything and it won't keep contacts on my phone everything resets after I turn my phone off and on.

Okay hopefully this post doesn't make me look like a total dumb ass but I was able to fix it by reflashing DI01 stock .tar through Odin and couldn't find any info on this. Well hopefully this might help anyone else out there and good night to all!

You must not have searched very hard...
The 0.00 internal memory is from flashing a nonvoodoo kernel over a voodoo kernel without disabling it first. Well-documented on this (and other) forum(s), as well as solutions to fix it, one of which being the solution you used.

Sounds like you flashed without disabling voodoo. Check the sombionix thread for a fix on this.

Sorry for the fast/lack of info response. The sombionix thread can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782027
I made the mistake of flashing something w/out disabling voodoo once myself. This method seemed very intimidating to me but many ppl have confirmed it works perfect, just follow the instructions. I might add that when I messed up and didn't disable voodoo I had the same prob as you, data wasn't recognized and I couldn't download apps from the market. I flashed back to the rom I first installed voodoo with and was able to use a pre-installed file explorer app to put the "disable lagfix" file in the voodoo folder to disable voodoo. And by "disable lagfix" i mean literally make a folder that says just that and nothing else, then reboot your phone. You will hear Linda talking and upon reboot voodoo will be gone. Now flash away! I hope this helps and good luck!
i dont understand lag fix how to add ita nd how to remove it. its rediculous lol. i wish there was more info. Like how does everyone know what J16 is and everything like that i am confused and dont know how its learned
If you market search 'lag fix', there seems to be a widget that will toggle the settings for Voodoo. It's $.99
It's a really easy process to turn off, but if it seems to daunting or you don't have access to a PC (you could probably do the same thing with Root Explorer and a few other apps though), it might be worth it for you.

[Q] How do I tell if I have Voodoo running on my phone?

When I installed Bionix Fusion I tried also to install the Voodoo lagfix. When I did I ran Quadrant and my performance didn't improve.
I figured that I did not install it right, I then went right into performing the lagfix found on the Bionix Fusion thread which worked great.
Now, I'm wondering if I still have Voodoo running or installed. I have a Voodoo folder on my internal card and it contains log files and txt files but nothing else. The txt files contain messages like "This model is not supported".
The reason for my question is because I want to flash a new Kernel that requires that you are not running Voodoo. How can I be absolutely sure I am not running it?
Thanks.
Check the website...project voodoo there is flashable "dissablelagfix"zip and instructions do you can be certain thats its off, hope this helps
****'ll buff out
Thanks. Worked great!
You have a Vibrant with a special type of NAND memory that Voodoo is not compatible with, so Voodoo automatically disabled itself on your phone. You're fine to flash anything.

[Q] Moving from one ROM to another

I've spent a lot of time on here the last 2 weeks reading as much as possible about flashing. I finally took the plunge and flashed Axura 2.2.6 onto my Vibrant, and I love it.
Now, I am intrigued by the new Bionix-V ROM out, but I am not sure I understand everything I need to do if I want to change ROMs. Also, I have a few questions I can't seem to get a grasp on.
1. Before flashing or anything, I rooted with Ryan's OCLF. When I flashed with Axura, did that install and enable voodoo on my phone? Did it override OCLF? I know you are not supposed to be running both.
2. I cannot figure out this kernel thing. Do I just let the ROMs handle them, or am I supposed to be updating on my own?
3. I don't do anything with the modem (e.g., KA7), correct? As I understand it, the ROMs are based off of this.
4. I have read some stuff recently about how Titanium Backup has caused some issues. Should it not be used when going from ROM to ROM?
5. I have read some stuff recently about the battery and cycling it. Should this be done if I want to change ROMs?
Thanks in advance.

ok..
1. I dont know if Axura had Voodoo....but if you flash a custom ROM (weather its Axura, Bionix-V..etc..) it'll always be rooted
2. Some folks (like me) prefer going back to stock 2.1 with Odin...then flashing their new custom ROM...so they dont run into ghost files and kernel issues...but its not needed....some times you can go from ROM to ROM
3. the KA7 is the newest leak from Samsung for our phones....when a custom ROM is made...it is made from the newest leak...which now is KA7..this way the ROMs stay up to date
4. Titanium Backup is a great tool...almost a must use tool if you're going from ROM to ROM....Titanium Backup Pro is a lot more speedier and has more features that the free version...but the free one is also good
5. I personally make sure my batt is fully charged and is plugged in while i'm flashing so it reduces the time i have to re-condition...you should read a little bit more on that

It sounds like you just rooted with OCLF, no issue there. OCLF lag fix converts your file system to EXT2, voodoo is EXT4. If you heard Linda (lady's voice) at first bootup, your system is EXT4 via voodoo. You can download voodoo toggle from the market to verify it is working, and to disable (which you would do if you flash something that is NOT voodoo). Also, it is not possible to run both.... file system is one or the other. EXT4 is better (even though EXT2 will show a higher quad score).
2. I cannot figure out this kernel thing. Do I just let the ROMs handle them, or am I supposed to be updating on my own?
The ROM will handle this. You only need to flash another one if you really want to..
3. I don't do anything with the modem (e.g., KA7), correct? As I understand it, the ROMs are based off of this.
The ROM will handle this. You only need to flash another one if you really want to, ie, you have better signal with one vs the one included in your rom.
4. I have read some stuff recently about how Titanium Backup has caused some issues. Should it not be used when going from ROM to ROM?
Ignorance causes issues, not Titanium Backup. Check the noob guide in my signature to learn how to use it properly.
5. I have read some stuff recently about the battery and cycling it. Should this be done if I want to change ROMs?
Always. Also in the noob guide.
Thanks
Thanks. You guys rock.
Quick question/comment. When I used OCLF, I know that I rooted and I also ran the lagfix, because my quadrant score went up drastically. Not sure if this matters.
I went into Astro, and I have a folder for voodoo with log files in it, so this means I must have voodoo, right?
I downloaded the voodoo toggle, but I don't see it anywhere on my phone. Does it only show as a setting somewhere?
Voodoo toggle = Reboot Button (no clue why the dev did this). App works great though.

Not a single rom will work properly..

Is anyone else having this problem? I follow instructions to a T and still I get various major problems when using any rom. They lockup frequently, I can't play a any games at ALL, causes phone to reboot. I am getting very frustrated I don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help? I've cleared the cache (dalvic and program cache,) done factory wipes, restored to original stock vibrant rom. Absolutely nothing solves the problem..please help.
Sounds like a CPU problem. Try downclocking via SetCPU to 800mhz or lower. Increase voltage a bit with Tegrack Overclock.
i had the same problem, try bionix v 1.3.1 and you will have the most stable rom ever
Occasionally a total reformat of your internal SD is required, especially after several months.
To do this you want to move anything you want saved to your computer including titanium backup folder. After you've saved everything boot into recovery and go to mounts and storage there you'll be able to format. When done you'll have to boot download mode, go to voodoo section of recovery. Now Odin stock firmware and the flash whatever Tom you want, rejoice and click the thanks button.

Here's the deal:
1) Use only "proper" releases, by which I mean, NO PORTS and NO CM7/MIUI based releases. That would me no 2.2.1 or 2.3 versions.
2) Do NOT overclock. AT ALL.
3) Do NOT undervolt. AT ALL.
4) Format your SD Card. Also try removing it temporarily to eliminate it as faulty.
5) DO NOT EVER RESTORE ANY SYSTEM DATA USING TITANIUM BACKUP! IT WILL CAUSE CRASHINESS.
5) All else fails, ODIN to stock and see if the phone is crashing. Make sure it is stable BEFORE installing a bunch of apps. Some of those apps could be causing issues.
If step 5 fixes it but nothing else does, then you are missing a step. Go back and re-read and try again.
If, however, it still crashes after step 5, then you have a faulty phone. Do a warranty exchange.

[Q] Internal Storage Problems after Stock Reset

Hi all,
I used Heimdall this morning to try and put the CyanogenMod ROM on my Fascinate. I think I must have tried flashing with insufficient files, because the next thing I know my phone is back to factory with everything gone D: I tried to use Heimdall again, this time explicitly with the files from the ED05 FROYO tar going around. Using both the default recovery and the ClockworkMod recovery, I can get to the screen that asks you to wipe/load update.zip and all, but when I try to wipe I get access errors and the inability to mount various directories. The end result is that the phone tells me it has no internal storage space available, I cannot install apps, and I keep getting errors in twlauncher.
If anyone can help or point me in the direction I need to go to remedy this, I would be most appreciative. I can walk you through the steps I've taken since flashing with the ED05 kernel and all, but I cannot find where exactly I messed up in the first place. Thanks.
