I'm having trouble with GladEnable.
I started with an unrooted Atrix on 1.5.7. I downloaded 1.8.3 using the motorola updater. I installed Gingerbreak on the phone and ran it. I think I am rooted now...I'm basing this off that I downloaded the free Titanium Backup from the market to the phone. When I run the backup app, it tells me my system won't allow me to restore settings and that I need to go into settings/applications and tick the "Unknown Sources' box. I don't have that box.
I extracted GladEnable to the C drive of my computer. I connect the phone, have USB debugging on and USB set to None. I run the gladenable.bat file.
It say up "Allow superuser request on phone". Then says files copied. It asks if I want to install sideloading, I type in "y" and hit enter. It says "Allow superuser request on phone". Then it says Permission denied.
I'm not concerned about tethering so I type "n", then the phone reboots.
I posted this question over at Android Central. Someone suggested to check mark the "Allow Mock Locations" under settings/applications/development. It tried that and then ran GladEnable. I got the exact same responses.
Why is the sideloading being denied? Am I tapping/not tapping something at the right time?
Thanks

If you can't get that to work, try it this way (have to download sqlite editor in the market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13451234&postcount=22
If you are not rooted, it will not allow you to do this though. It will tell you if you are rooted when it asks for SU permissions
I was having the same issue. So I was going to try this too. I'm using root explorer cause thats what I have. Does that matter?
The question I have is I can't find that directory. I'm running a search now but it's taking forever.
Thanks!!

I'm a retard, I didn't ever find that directory but I tried the other method again and it worked.
I'm a Mac user and forgot to add the driver to my windows side in VMware. I rooted on the OSX side so I wasn't even thinking about it.
Thanks for the tip any way!

This is my first android and first time rooting. This sounds like it may be above my ability to try. I was panicky just doing the Gingerbreak method.
Here was a response at android central (in red) and my response on what I tried (in blue).
Sounds like you may or may not be rooted, and that you don't have "sideloading" setup. You need to find the sideloading app and install it. The installation will give you (after it's completed) the ability to install apps from unknown sources. That will appear in Settings, under Applications and you need to be sure that the box has a check mark in it. Do you see a Super User app in your app drawer? If you do, you can check and see if it has granted SU permission to any of the apps in your drawer. If it hasn't try running one of the apps that require you to be rooted, in order to work - like Root Explorer, ShootMe or Titanium Backup.
-Mike.
I see the Super User in my app drawer. I've only downloaded free Titanium Backup since I "rooted" the phone. (Again, I thought I was rooted because I was able to download Titanium Backup) Titanium Backup is the only app showing when I open the Super User app. When I tap on Titanium backup, it's status shows "Allow". Also, I can open Titanium Backup. I guess I can use it's basic functions, but I can't freeze anything since it's the free version. So I am assuming it is functioning.
Ok I just downloaded and installed ShootMe. (It nows shows up in the Superuser app along with Titanium Backup) When I open it, this is what it says.. Shootme has been granted Superuser permissions...Trying to start server....Failed starting server. Please check you have "Root" access on your device and enabled access to the lower level graphics.
So am I actually rooted? Can I run Gingerbreak again (I still have it on my phone), or will that cause more problems?
Which sideloading app are you referring too? I was using GladEnabler, without luck. Don
So does it sound like I'm rooted?
If not can I re-run Gingerbreak?
Will only root necessary apps show up in the SuperUser app, or should all my apps show up in it?
Thanks
Thanks

No, you have to have sqlite editor from the market to change the values. If you download that, you will see what I am talking about.
Most people use sqlite on the pc when you change the values, so this is almost easier to do on the phone in this case since there is an app for it.

Yea, you should be able to rerun Gingerbreak if it was not successful at first.
You can sideload Gingerbreak with the Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine if you like.
And No, it doesn't sound like you are rooted fully.
okay here is my problem. If i remember, i took Adfree program or another similar ad blocker (for what i remember, its was simple to install)
My life was nice, no more ads in my free version of angry birds etc...BUT
am an hockey fan and i go on a site to view videos report of my team. The problem is when i try to watch thoses vids streaming, normaly theres a 15sec ad vid before the one i wanna see, but cause of that adfree program, i cant see the vid anymore, it is just loading and nothing is happening. Here is a screenshot
For your information, i tryed with my desktop computer and it work fine, i tryed uninstall and reinstall flash and it runs perfect on other sites.
So i wanted to remove the adfree program but it is not showing anywhere in my apps running or installed.
1- Anyone have a clue?
One more thing, i did rooted my tab with success, i can use rom manager but yesterday i tryed to open Titanium backup and it told me my tab wasnt rooted...
i see the superuser icon in my apps so..
2- Any clues on that one too?
Thanks for ur help
if you have cwr then install a custom rom on your tab, I recommended one of task's they come with internet ads blocked and flash view work fine, and are just better than stock roms in every way

reboot the device,
1. check for the adfree or adblock app in the application manager.
2. try to reload the titanium backup couple of times or check in the superuser whether titanium backup is allowed for root access.
To Beta : i dont want to install any custom rom for now, but thanks for ur advice

1- i closed and started device like 10 times since i got this problem, i checked in app manager installed, running, all, cant find any track of an ad blocker program. i also checked with file manager HD
2- Fixed for titanium
please help me for #1
I think you granted temporary root permissions to Titanium Backup, so if you close the app, and open it again, you have to grant root again. You should click on "remember" checkbox.
Another thing you can do, is to open update SuperUser app from the Market, and then, open it, and go to Settings ---> Check binary SU updates, so you have the latest SU binary version.
About the flash thing, i have no idea, but.. have you tried with another Browser?? (Personally, i use Opera. Works like a charm. Really fast & smooth).
Hope i helped,g ood luck bro!

As i stated in post #4, problem is fixed for Titanium backup
My Main Problem is still there though.
Its not a question of using a diff browser, i want to delete/uninstall the adfree app from my tab dot.
The thing is that i cant find it anywhere, i even tryed to open titanium to see if adfree apps is showing so i cant delete data, but its not showing.
So i really need help now because i dont know where to look to find this freaking app and remove it.
Adfree or adblocker or whatever the name is, is not showing :
In app manager (running, installed, all)
In Titanium backup
In file manage HD (well i dont know exactly where to search but havent find anything with a similar name)
plz help
EDIT:
More info
usually when u install an app and u go back to the market, its say "open" instead of "install" well for adfree it still tell me "install"
Now i also searched a bit on the forum and i found some ad blocker program can be use without installing anything but by replacing an Host files.
I dont remember if it was my case, maybe since it doesnt seem that a have any adfree app installed BUT
I usually keep a copy of everything i put on my tab, and been around computer world for long enough to do a "backup" of any file i would replace.
I've looked on my pc, no sign of any host files that i dl or backuped.
So im totally out of anwsers.
One thing for sure, i did install something to removes ads and it work.
For the love of god, please help me !!

Try to uninstall it with titanium. Or use a file manager, navigate to /data/app, find the apk and delete it!

i really need help with the host files
i want to get back to default (ads allowed)
where to go ?
What you have to do is manually edit/replace the host file with a stock one.
Go to /system/etc/ and remove all the entries from the file named 'hosts' except the following one
127.0.0.1 localhost
OR
flash this zip in CWM

you can try updating the /system/etc/hosts file with
127.0.0.1 localhost
then reboot it.

Just a wild guess, but what browser are you using? Is it possible you installed the adblocker not as an app, but as a browser add-on extension? If so, you should be able to remove it from within the browser or make an exception rule for that one site.

am using the default web browser and like i wrote before.
I changed the hosts file following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509997
the hosts file i changed is the one located in /system/etc/hosts
the problem is that i didnt backup this file before replacing it, i never do that but it seem this time i did it.
So im looking for either the original host file or a way to put an exception for the site i want.

My NT is using indirect's root and I had the stock apps removed. Every time I reboot, pandora, netflix, and hulu plus always show back up after I uninstall them. Any clue why they come back after a reboot? My netflix app always asks for an update and I have two copies of pandora on there.
you have to first go to root--->system---->app find the app and delete.
then uninstall
then reboot
(may need to change permissions to delete the crap)
I had this same issue, and one of the best ways to prevent it is before trying to delete/uninstall theme, is to go into the stock app manager and archive everything, this unregistered the flag that says they should be there on the device at all from B&N's perspective, and ensures they won't just suddenly appear again. I had the same issue with Netflix continually reverting to B&N's version instead of the newest version.

market--->es file explorer
install

root will open up
click system(should be before vendor folder)
click on App folder(before Bin folder)

Yup. On ICS it was moved from the applications menu, to the above path.
Do I need to place the APK in a certain path. I tried using the SWM, and I tried just running the APK from my phone neither worked.
Just put it on your internal sd, then tap on it. It should iniate the install sequence
