I remember on one of the Eris roms I flashed a while back that the bootloader was a dancing android in front of the HTC logo. It made me laugh for a good bit. Sadly, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the rom. If I could, I'd just pull it out and repackage it myself.
So...anyone happen to have this bootloader just lying around?

I'm not trying to pick apart your words but you might want to say boot animation in the future. A boot loader is a completely different thing.
Screaming Droid Boot Animation Flashable Download 320 x 480 is what you want from the [BOOT ANIMATION]The Screaming Droid! Now With Sound!!! (Updated 3/13/11) thread. At least, it has a dancing droid and it gives me a laugh when I use it as my boot animation, too.
I know that version worked because I used it. I see there's a newer version in that thread as well that advertises sound even under CM7 (boot animations with sound are usually only working under stock ROMs like xtrSENSE). Haven't tried it yet, but I will soon.
If you try it first please let me know how it works for you.
If you go here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18910-mod-enable-custom-boot-sounds/
and download the file you can use that to enable boot sounds.
The flashable zip won't work because it's for the wildfire, but if you take the scripts from the zip and place them in the /system/bin directory (and place the sound in /system/media) and then follow the instructions in the post to enable the sound from the terminal, it will work.
I did it and I have workshed's GSB which is CM7.
I believe the scripts originated from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8274824&postcount=2 . So I guess credit goes both to -Stevo- on CM forums and spiicytuna on xda.

I'm pretty certain that this is the one you are talking about
Dancing Droid Boot Animation
This is a flashable zip if you want to flash it or just pull the animation zip from inside and push it

Here is a link to a thread from January-February time frame...has some info for creating the .img file used in the PG06IMG.zip out of a .bmp file.
We used to do this in adb, but this method appears to be slicker and has the advantage of being able to change between any number of splash screens on a whim...without needing a computer.

Edit: an even better link to the program nbimg.exe for converting bitmaps to .img is here:

(I reread the OP again and still can't find any info regarding the conversion .bmp >> .img...or is that not necessary with this method?)

I knew this thread looked really familiar.. Here's a thread that was started about 4 or 5 months ago Throw your Splash Screens here!. There's several nice splash screens throughout the thread, also the stock splash is in the op.
I have a strange feeling PhotoShop didn't save it as that resolution but I'll find out in a few when I go to flash.
What is it?
This tool can be used to flash a bootanimation zip file to the Rezound.
(Tool can be modified to work for other phones.)
Instructions
Download and extract attached file to computer
Copy your new Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip to that folder
Select option 1 Make a backup of your current boot animation
Select option 2 to flash new boot animation to phone
Select option 3 to reboot phone and view new boot animation
To restore your old boot animation
delete the Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip from folder
rename "backup_Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip" to "Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip"
Run tool and use option 2
Other info
The Rezound boot animation is in /system/customize/resource
The bootanimation zip file CAN NOT be compressed. It has to be a "store" zip file.
Read more about boot animations here

Thanks for making things just a little easier!! Before long, all we will have to do is plug in our phone and press 1 for rom flash, 2 for kernel......etc.etc. Ok, probably not, but you guys and your flashing scripts make life a hell of a lot easier on the rest of us! Keep up the awesome work!

Since the boot animation is the same for BAMF as stock, i would imagine its in the same place. I wouldn't think Eris would have moved the bootanimation location and left it stock.
I haven't tried it on BAMF but i can when i get home.
xjedi I'm Gonna Add This To My Tool So People Will Get Directed To Your OP, Great Work Man.
Can anyone try these boot animations from my post on various ROMs using this method? I would love to be able to link to this in my post and have it actually work. We've been having issues with other ROMs since they seem to be more complicated than Ineffabilis. Any help with posts of if this works would be awesome!
This didnt work at all for me . I did everything on the instructions .????
can I use a video as my boot animation or is it just .PNG files that are only allowed?
i used to make boot animations and i can tell u they are pics that make it look like a video
there are programs i think that can take a video and turn it into pictures.. that would work

Can I flash mods, kernels or boot images over CleanRom ICSE 2.3? I've tried flashing a custom kernel (in an attempt to further speed up my phone) but it almost completely bricked my phone. I am fearing the potential paperwight from flashing anything else over this rom. Any advice?
Thanks!
I know for a fact changing boot animations won't hurt. Using CleanROM 2.3 and the Dice animation from WasabiWa83's thread.

I've noticed that changing it manually through a root explorer (Replacing original boot img. with the renamed custom img.) doesn't work the same way. I don't see the same files in the system's media folder.
The instructions in that thread worked for me, but you have to follow them stringently. I use a windows computer, and somehow windows changed the state of the zip folder I was flashing to my phone, causing it to skip the animation. Downloading 7zip and ensuring the zip is formatted as "store" rather than compressed worked immediately.

New download links are going up in a few minutes. They should (hopefully) all be fixed now to work on all ROMs. There were issues with the way the folders were in the Zips. Thanks to Rom-Addict, we should have them working now. If you try one in a minute and it works, make sure you find a post by Rom-Addict and thank him. That was a lot of work to get those going like that.

[BOOT LOGO + ANIMATION] Moto Logos (Multi-Color, Blur, & MOTOX) - Updated 10/12/13
Just sharing some work I did on aligning some boot logos and animations using OEM Moto logos. All of these were converted from animations originaly from Motorola.
These are CWM flashable, and they change the Boot Logo and the Boot Annimation so that they flow into one another.
These are designed to work with GB ROM's, I have only tested them with NottachTrix and CSROM. If you want to use them with other ROM's then extract the bootanimation.zip file from within these and copy it over tot he right /system folder

Yea I agree, but that was in the OEM animation. I was thinking of shortening the animation and trying to eliminate the Blur word, but that is a ton of editing of a lot of individual files.

Although, putting it in /system/media should work too, dunno why it doesn't. Are you sure you did it right?

The fact that you get a blackscreen tells me that you put the file in the right place. That leads me to believe there is something wrong with the bootanimation.zip file you are using.
Did you by chance unzip the bootanimation.zip file itself? And then rezip it before moving it to the Atrix? If so, did you happen to rezip the bootanimation file normaly? I ask because I did that a one point and caused the very same issue.
A bootanimation.zip must be made without compression, or set as "store" not "archive" when Zip'ing. If you answered yes to all of this then the solution is to get a bootanmiation.zip that is compressed correctly and move that to your /system/media. You can do that one of two ways,
1.) redownload my files, unzip the flashable file to get the bootanimation, but do NOT unzip the bootanimation file itself. Copy that bootanimation to your phone
or
2.) rezip the bootanimation file without compression, in 7zip you do this by setting the the pression to "store"

All you have to do is add net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to your build.prop file and then you can remove or freeze the entitlement check app if you want to. Sprint model requires ro.mot.tether_dun_required to change from 1 to 0.
For people who don't want to mess with modifying their build.prop file or use xposed. I made an app which requires Root, that will run a setprop command to bypass the check until you reboot. If you want it to last after a reboot you can select apply of boot to run the command after every reboot. This was tested and confirmed by cvhovey thanks to him for testing it for me, since I have free tethering. This is my first app so I hope you Enjoy it! I want to say thanks to jcase's slapmymoto and the developer of adaway, I used their github sources as references when I couldn't get something working. Also androidicons for the icon template, and Poliva for setpropex, and jduck for getting setpropex working on KitKat.

YES!!!! It worked!!! LOL. Anyway, have you/anyone noticed anything when trying to alter the stock boot.img? Seems like anything I tried (not a whole bunch really) with the kernel/boot.img made it non-bootable? Pretty much if it hits the bootloader unlocked screen and doesn't vibrate.....its a no go? Wondering if theres some type of checksum for the boot.img? Not too sure about wallet ATM. Don't really use it, and this is based off the OTA so....I'd assume it should be fine? I remember some stuff way back on this, may have to step back and see if there's something to utilize. This isn't my first rodeo.....but it's the first one I've entered.

Yeah I wipe three times before flashing and I wiped cache and dalvik again before booting. I wonder what the issue is. I downloaded the odex and not deodex but I don't see it being the difference between booting and freezing. Hmm. I'm back on the T-Mobile rom now. I'll have to try again with the deodex tomorrow

Was just using the kitchen tool. Anytime I touched the boot.img it wouldn't boot up..... Or it would not vibrate at the splash screen, boot up, but not "see" user touches on the screen. Acted like the digitizer was totally off. Something I noticed is if it vibrates at the splash, it was good. No vibrate, definitely something would be wrong. Going to take my time with it next week.

I recommend wiping system and data too and trying. Just make a backup first. And/or try using your normal boot.img instead of the one in the zip.

i take it then you arent packing the Device tree file to the boot.img.
http://pastebin.com/tSGxTmYq save this script, run it against stock boot.img. youll get a DTB.img, extract your boot.img, edit what you want in ramdisk or swap zimages. then use a modified mkbootimg to include the dtb file as part of it all

I got the sprint deodex rom booting on my vzw dev edition doing like you said. But sadly I found google wallet would not work. It just sat saying "finishing up a few things." So I guess unfortunately there is a hardware issue preventing wallet from working on the non-sprint variants. That sucks!!!
I don't understand why but I noticed between the t-mobile, verizon, and sprint roms that the signal bars are slightly different on every one. Sprint's seems to be stretched out a little more and have an extra bar or two. I hate all of them though because the grey has some funky white lines through it where the separations are instead of being solid grey. I don't know what was wrong with the stock android signal bars that none of the carriers wanted them
I have a question regarding safestrap, can I use it to unlock my bootloader and just flash this to my nand? I dont want to waste my space on rom slots :\

Honestly have no clue about SS. I would have to say no. No sure what needs to be done for it to be SS flashable.
Added 4.4 links. Thank abiezer for letting me link to his deodex 4.4 build HERE!
I plan on adding the SPRINT specific firmwares, and more in due time.
