[Q] Sim Pin - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
So i've had my x10 for a while, learnt the basis of using rom's and such. But i've recently that on some rom's the sim pin is never asked and therefore I get no connection.
Would this have something to do with the rom?
For example;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015765
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009220
and a few others. Although, strangely some other rom's do work such as;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947613
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks in advance!

I have had the same problem, but for me it has not been that it does not ask for a PIN, it has been because the baseband is not recognized by the rom. To get it working I have either had to reflash with another baseband (the one recommended by the ROM dev) or by starting "Dev Tools" (included with most of the dev-roms) and select "Bad Behavior"/"Crash the system server". This will reboot the phone and after the reboot the baseband has been recognized and the ROM has asked for a SIM pin.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

Changing to the based band .49 it now works.

[Q] Blew it.. need help resetting

All,
I blew it while trying to flash my Sprint-based Samsung Galaxy SII. In any case, right now, I'm not getting a carrier (No Service) as it appears the phone doesn't know my MIED? Also, my "home" and "menu" buttons don't work while the phone is booted (although I can get into diagnostic modes, etc., so they do work in the strictest sense). It also appears that my wireless isn't working..
I've tried to do a factory wipe/reset, but it didn't solve these problems.
Here are the specifics from Settings->Phone Info
Model number: SPH-D710
Android Version - 2.3.4
Baseband version - unknown
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7.I9100XWKJ3-CL647431
Build Number - GINGERBREAD.EG39
Hardware version - Unknown
Is there any way I can just slam the stock Sprint kernel back on here to get this back to some sort of a baseline. Also, I guess there's the MEID issue.. I think I can get that from Sprint or on the phone, right?
Thanks in advance..
Maybe start searching for threads about losing your EFS folder??
Hope this helps
I didn't find anything specific to Sprint... maybe it doesn't matter? I dunno. I'd appreciate a little more guidance if possible.
When I try to go into About phone->Status to see this stuff, I get "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly."
Hi, I'm no expert, when I saw that your phone could not find the SIM my first thought was that you had lost your EFS folder (which is really BAD), however on looking again at your first post I see it says baseband unknown - maybe you need to reflash the modem?
Sprint doesn't use SIM? So I think this might not (?) be an issue.
I will begin to look for how to reflash the modem--if you know of a thread that is better than another for this, I would appreciate it if you could post it here. Thank you, in advance.
Yeh, sorry should have typed carrier rather than SIM.
AFAIK to flash a modem with Odin, you can use the firmware for your phone selecting only 'Phone' .
You would probably be safer to search first or you could reflash your firmware and take your phone back to baseline as you put it.
I can't find a Sprint baseline ROM, could/should I try this one?:
samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/4692-Full-Guide-How-to-Debrand-your-Samsung-Galaxy-S2
There is a site called www.sammobile.com which used to be www.Samifirmware.com it was always a good source of up to date firmwares.
Unfortunately I am at work and we only have IE6 (I know), so I can't search the site for you.

Baseband unknown

Good for everyone!!
Sorry for my google's traductor english
I mention my case to see if with the help of all I can restore the phone.
After spending hours tinkering with the phone, turn it into a paperweight and reliving me realize I can not find a way to make the phone work properly.
The phone lights up, root access and the latest Cyanogen rom installed with the corresponding recovery.
The problem is that once you put on the sim that puts you never recognized. It asks me the pin and when I try to enter the dialpad to put a sequence to know, for example, if you have a lock on (step I made when the phone had the movistar rom) or simply to know the imei, it is trying to call and not open the menus.
I do not know if discovered and can serve as something that if I go into Settings - About Phone ANRO I have the version 2.3.5, 2.6.35.7 Kernel Version-perf-CL591990root @ dell126 # 1 and build number GINGERBREAD.XWKS3 . What baffles me and maybe come around the problem is that in the field puts Base Band Version Unknown. The same if I go into state gives me no information network, imei, network status, etc..
I tried also to urge a new modem, but not for that.
Has anyone had or has the same problem?
I appreciate your help in trying to help solve the problem.
If you need any additional information, be alert to tell you.
Greetings!

Problem with SIM cards after kitkat update

hello good night. i am writing from Portugal and the problem is this. i made an OTA update do the S222 row Kitkat and all went well. the phone boots normally and works well without the SIM cards. after i put the SIM cards the problem begun. the phone does not recognize the SIM cards and it pops up continually a message on the screen "com.android as stoped" whitch make virtually impossible to work with the phone.
i read that it might be a problem with the modem, could you tell me the best way to solve this situation ? can i flash only the modem with the recovery , and for portugal what would be the proper modem to flash ? 2G network work with 900/1800 and 3G with 2100
i saw the topic of stympy, and the diferent modems that he shows.

Hi. To answer you question, you may try this:
First you must root your phone and install custom recovery TWRP.
Here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/rooting-tutorial-kitkat-t2835605
And here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...oot-install-twrp-custom-recovery-kit-t2849538
Now go to my post How about some modems, here:https://drive.google.com/folderview...&usp=sharing&tid=0B2ORIgaV4iacOVpDTDcxYW4taDQ

[Q] Help me with finding correct modem, please.

Hi, guys! Before a short time I have bought a Galaxy S3 smartphone (it was brought from USA I think) and it was already rooted. I decided to install Cyanogenmod 10.2.0 (by CWM) on it. After installation my SIM became to be undetectable. So I thought the problem was in modem. I've read about it and I learnt that the stock modem couldn't work with my Cyanogenmod. I tried to find the correct one, but I couldn't. I have found just one modem for my android version (4.3.1) and country (Turkey), it is - I9300XXUGNA8. It can see my SIM but couldn't connect to my cell-operator and I have just emergency calls. Also in information about my phone I can see my IMEI, but I couldn't see my phone number.
Please, help me to find correct modem compatible with android 4.3.1 for Turkey.
P.S. When phone have just started it asked the PIN of SIM maybe 30 times in a row. All times I enter it correctly but it says "SIM is unlocking" only for 1 sec. and asking a PIN again. After 100500 try it gives the same message for 5 sec. and soon throws me to main screen. But with no connection to cell-operator. Just emergency calls.
Help me, please.

Does it show up on stock? Which rom are you using?
Is it your Sim or do you need your signal? If that you have to enter the apn manually
Did you install/Update to CM 12.1 build?
Do you have baseband unknown under settings>About phone?
If you are new to CM12.1 and have baseband unknown issue. This is a common issue going around for CM based ROMs
you may need to flash stock sony FTF if yours is a non GPE model and then root and flash recovery.
You will get baseband back

Hello to you, I know you posted this a while ago, but I'm having the same problem on a Z ultra bought second hand... I have the error message invalid sim card after inputing the sim code (so the sim card is detected, and is working in another phone) I also have the error unknown baseband as you described. In the same way, when in service menu, if I want to check SIM lock in service info, the app freeze too without displaying anything.
I don't know what the other owner did to the phone though.
any clue for what to do ? I flashed the latest original rom ( 14.4.A.0.108) through flashtool - still sim card invalid -, then tried to flash through cwm another rom, but still the same.
There is also another bug, i don't know whether it's linked or not, but i can't take a picture with the camera app, the app freeze when I click the button !
Any help would be gladly appreciated !
Hi Kwenteen,
Did you get "unknown baseband" after flashing some ROM? If yes, try flashing KitKat ROM first and then see if you get baseband. I'm suspecting the flashing process didn't go well.
This is a known bug with CM12 ROM for ZU go to dial pad and dial *#06# and the Imei will show up if it shows unknown either flash the Modem zip or flash the stock ROM again

Hello sjesudasan, thanks for your help,
I tried to flash numerous original roms, starting all the way down to 290, which is 4.3, that displayed properly the emei number, but didn't allow me to pass phone calls (sim card detected, ask for pin code, then no service)
And I can't enter any APN.
On top of that, I am now unable to flash anything with xperia flashtool anymore, getting a null error then error flashing. Aborted. when trying to flash any firmware and the device doesn't boot anymore either. I guess the last flash went wrong even if it didn't display any error, but I assumed that as long as I was able to put the phone in flashmode, I would be able to flash anything, and get away from softbrick ?
when trying to fix with Xperia compagnon, I get the error "UEGetPhoneInfoMissingInfo "
Thank you for your suggestion sairaj rane, unfortunately I already tried that, went back to original firmware, I even flashed the modem zip. None of those solution worked for me.
Thank you for your help !
Hello, after 2 weeks of trouble just to get back with a functionning 5.1.1 ROM, I now have an original sony rom fixed by xperia compagnion.
I have the same error, can't get to the network. Phone ask for simcode, I enter it, and then no error, just no connexion to the network.
I have a recognized emei number, but the ICCID says unknown...
Is it normal ?
Thanks for the help anyway !

Unfortunately, yes.
It worked in a way that allowed me to retrieve the phone from a pretty hard brick, in conjunction with the use of the test point method and s1tool …
but even after this awakening from the dead, still no network connection.
Have you checked the six golden Pins inside the Phones SIM Slot? (Hard to see)
Once my phones one was bent. Had to correct them with a fine tool. Sim recognized since then.

Yep, done that too...
To be honest, I really don't know what to do.
I don't know if that can be linked, but the phone is also unable to be unlocked, despite the code provided by sony, matching the imei number !
