Some videos on youtube give the message" not available on mobile". I have tried multiple players, including the skyfire browser. Even using dolphin hd with desktop mode and using wifi.. Nothing works on these locked videos.. Is there a way around this?

Very odd, I only get certain videos that say that in the YouTube APP, but when I launch said videos from my browser on YouTube.com they work just fine.

Whenever I run into videos with that message, I just open up the YouTube app and it works fine.

Some youtube videos just don't have a mobile version (the mp4 file).
If you try to use a program on the desktop like Video Download Helper on those same videos, you will see that they only have *.flv downloads available, no mp4.
Even the ipod gets this error every now and again.

So no way past it?

I've tried a few socalled fixes for flash on the GT540 and the only thing that comes near to working is Flash Lite which as said earlier is just for small ads etc.
So, no chance of getting full flash?:S

Hi guys,
I discovered skyfire browser which have flash player built in . This is seems to be the only way a flash content can be played on lg gt540. When you get to a web site even though a message is displayed on the screen that you do not have appropriate flash player installed you can play the flash content by clicking on the video icon on the skyfire browser it will load the video in a seperate window and then play it. Hope this work. Skyfire is free to download from market!

Skyfire isn't a flash browser, as you can't play games. I just decodes the flash content (.flv video) to .3gp or .mp4 which Android can play natively. It's basically what the iPhone's browser does.
I've had Skyfire for a while, since it was in version 2.0 beta. It's now in 4.0 and is one of the best browsers out there.
I have skyfire on my Optimus V. If there is any video content on a page you can select the video icon in the lower left corner, a box will appear with a play button, select, and it will play the vidieo

I have just downloaded skyfire myself and I must admit I am impressed with it. I can even watch BBCiplayer stuff with it. But as Quinny states, it does not play Flash movies, it just converts them.
Just found out that it converts to HTML5 on skyfire's servers, meaning better quality video. I think it also means, as the servers are in the UK, you can access BBC iPlayer and tvcatchup.com.

Yep I have used it for BBCiplayer
Flash has been converted to work for ARMv6 devices, such as the Legend!
Thread
Direct download link
Sideload it as you normally would, reboot, and it should work!
It's not really fully functional - my browser crashes if I try to play a YouTube video, for example - but it does work!
works so far here, didnt try games or anything like that.. coz that makes no sense for me
would adobe air also be possible and the games that need adobe air?

I can't install the .apk
'App isn't installed'
My device is S-ON could this be the reason?
Possibly - it's over 11MB, though, it could be a space issue? I think my phone was only having a fit because of space.
I doubt it's because you're S-ON, though, it's just an app.
I've tried it on my legend With CM7.0.3 rom, but it doesn't work very great, when I open web page from my local tv station with news, it just closes web browser and when I play larger clips from youtube, or similar pages, it often freezes and force closes.
A lot of fc , but in any oportunities works fine

It closes my browser when i try to watch online video (not in Youtube).
This + TinyShark (aka more or less grooveshark on android) = Perfect Win !
No Fc's and a free deezer-like radio on my phone.

YESSS!!
Not being able to run TinyShark was the only shadow in my legend, but finally this is not a problem anymore.
It freezes after +/- 1 min.
Is there another version which is working?

I notice that people use a youtube app and would like to know why.
I have had no problem accessing and playing youtube videos from youtube.com using my Dolphin HD browser.
Prolly convenience. Same reason they use bank apps, pandora app, hulu app, etc.
Easier to use plus you don't have to deal with flash which is being discontinued anyway.

Speed.
Flash is slow.
PLUS YouTube.com is designed for computer monitors. YouTube app is designed for android.

Fullscreen - I can never get the in-browser window to fill the screen properly. I think the buttons are easier to hit in the app too.
Thanks for all the input I will give the app a try. I don't go to Youtube very often but it sounds like the way to go.
There a, song I really want that's on Youtube, is there any way I can just download the audio with a app?

Not with the app, however, there are YouTube to mp3 converters on the internet. I think there is even one on the market

i've used that one in the past. works really well if you want to use your computer
Use JetVD. www.jetvd.com Download the regular version for the option to save both video or audio. Its free. Its an Android app. You have download from the website because the market app is only the lite version.

I use real player to download mp3's from YouTube. It allows you to download the video then has options to convert it to multiple different formats

TubeMate works quite well. You can download videos (even in mp3 format as well) straight to your device. I couldn't find it on the market, but it's a free app so I'll share the apk.

Tubemate, using on CM9 without a problem.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
Maybe try using a user script (usersscripts.org) which allows you to download the video, possibly also the audio track? These are snippets of Javascript which inject themselves into specific sites when you're viewing them. I use one named "YouTube to MP4" on Firefox on my desktop PC. Since the Android browsers are fully functional I expect the same option applies there.
For this option, Firefox requires Greasemonkey addon, but I believe it's a native option on Opera and Chrome.
Also try tubeGod(tubex) its no longer in the market so you have to search for it(its free so no problems)
Much better quality than tubemate imo and mp3s dont come as large as tubemate either
I extracted the audio from a video a few days ago
Tubemate(17mb)
TubeGod(1mb)

Tubemate's file size is big because it downloads the whole MP4 video and renames it as MP3.
