I downloaded firefox for my android the other day, and since then QR codes are opening with that instead of QR droid, even ones that I KNOW should be taking me to the market instead.
When they open with firefox, I just get a white screen (even when I'm on a wireless network) and nothing loads.
When i go to application manager > qr droid, I've pressed force close, and the "delete data" or whatever the setting is. There are no default programs selected apparently.
Any ideas?
You need to clear the defaults on FF or find a way to edit which links it is associated with. FF has probably been made you default browser and is grabbing some links that it shouldn't.

Does anyone know how to stop the lapdock showing the mobile site of facebook rather than the normal one every time i enter wwwdotfacebbokdotcom it loads with m.facebook.com?
create a shortcut in the dock.
no, just tried that sill reverts back to the "m" site ?
are you using the lapdock's firebox browser? or are you using the phone's browser while in lapdock's?
Its when using the firefox lapdock browser or the lapdocks facebook shortcut
Have you tried Dolphin Browser HD? In the initial setup, you can choose what kind of device you'd like the browser to tell the website you're using. Like say for instance, android phone, desktop, ipone, or ipad.
I tried accessing the facebook site from my lapdock's browser and it sent me to the non-mobile site. I don't know what could be going on with yours.
sorry. :\
Potential Fix for this issue
The problem everybody is experiencing develops when the initial request is sent to the Facebook server and the "user agent" string is sent. By default, the user agent string is set to Android, but can be set to Chrome Desktop to allow a full website experience. Some website's written or optimized for a specific browser may still disregard this setting, but Facebook does not, and will display the full site ... I have the laptop dock and this works.
In the firefox browser, go to the add-ins page and search "user agent". Install one of them and select "firefox 4" from the new menu. Reload the page and it should show the full version instead of the mobile version of the page.
You need to use a user agent spoof add-in to tell the facebook server that you are a full web browser and not a mobile web browser.
I have tried the top 3 user agent programs and connot find the firefox 4 option.
You say you have to spoof the web page, when I first used it it worked fine, and other users all say theirs work fine too without messing with the settings.
I have also done a hard reset on the phone so its not that, it must be somthing in the lapdock, -
question can the lapdock be reset in any way, I know it has nothing inside as such but pehaps there is somthing in there?
Install the add-on called "User Agent RG 1.0" and then under Tools -> User Agent, select "Firefox 4". You have to make this selection every time you open the firefox browser in the webtop as the setting is not preserved.
I think this is phone browser problem .
Hi, i often use google search to search the name of apps instead of using the drawer. I've enabled the search on local phone, including app, chrome and contacts. When i type an app name, i got at first (on top) the name of the app, and when i'm going to tap on the icon, three suggestion from web appears on top, and the app goes down. The beavior is very variable, because of the presence of internet connections (in such case no suggestions) and its delay (mobile data vs. Wifi).
It's really annoying beacuse i use the search to open the app quickly, and often i click on the randomly popping-up suggestion, which open Chrome, etc.. (at the end is anything but quick).
There's a way to disable these suggestion, or use directly the phone (local) search?
Thank you.
When I connect to a WiFi requiring login through a web page, e.g. hotels, cafes, my work place, the phone would (pretty much automatically) open a browser window for me to enter username/password.
Problem is that the phone does not remember the credentials and I have to do this every time I log-in. This may happen multiple times a day at work as I might time-out.
I tried to ignore the default login and open the Chrome browser window (which permits saving credentials), however, this seldom works; it mainly seems to confuse the phone ... e.g. the page I used to trigger the user/pass form remains mapped to the login and cannot be reached unless I clear caches ...
Is there a way to:
Make Sony's internal browser remember login credentials?
Replace the browser that pops-up with another (e.g. Chrome)
Turn this off altogether and have the old behavior (first loaded page redirects to login then back)

For the third option, you can disable the captive portal detection from terminal (if you're rooted) or adb shell.
Open shell and type:
Code:
settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
You'll need to reboot.
You can always check your current state with the following command:
Code:
settings get global captive_portal_detection_enabled

Hi Members
I have to say I'm struggling with this phone, nothing seems straight forward.
The phones running Android 8 / EMUI 8, I did a mistake when clicking on a PDF doc in the Huawei 'Files' app, when the program pop-up appeared to choose the application to use, I clicked onto the 'Drive PDF viewer' and accidentally click onto the 'Always' button.
Now the "Drive PDF viewer' is the default app, and I can't make it go back to asking what app I want to use.
I've tried loads of things withing settings>Apps, I've cleared Google drives cache and reset, cleared Google Play services, and the Play store, reset the Chrome browser.
I can't find the app 'Drive PDF viewer', but I gather this is part of Google Drive app.
I've reset the Huawei 'Home' launcher, this didn't do anything.
I then went and installed Adobe Reader app, this still didn't give me the app prompt when clicking onto a PDF to pick the Adobe app.
I've reset this phone so many times now for so many issues, none of which has been resolved with a reset (also with my Huawei watch 2 Pro as it's had issues)
I've search the Web regarding a resolution, uninstalling the last update to Drive hasn't change the PDF default preference.
Can anyone shed any light on a solution please.
Regards

Just to follow up, I found no way within the settings > Apps on any of the relivant applications settings (Drive, Chrome, Play system apps), any changes I made to either the default actions attributes worked.
The only solution to getting 'Drive PDF viewer' to not be the default reader in the HM10 Pro Android 8/EMUI 8,
1, go to disable the Google 'Drive' app,
2, then open a PDF
3, pick Microsoft 'word' as the default reader
4, then open a PDF again to see that 'Word' opens
5, then go back to 'Enabling' Google 'Drive'
6, then uninstall Microsoft Word
7, Restart the phone and reinstall 'Word', and open Word app to start it up.
Then when I opened a PDF file, the chooser opened allowing me to pick a new PDF reader.
What a fiasco, this is not the fault of any app PDF readers, but more another issue with how either Android 8, or Huawei EMUI 8 or the Home auncher has been tinkered with, and doesn't work correctly, how I came to this conclusion, it was when I then chose Microsoft Word as the default and no amount of fiddling in its settings would change it's default mode to opening PDF files.
This phone needs loads of bug fixes, also the AI seems to make choices incorrectly on the running of the phone, also it's background power saving is way too aggressive, turning off modes that need to be on (this is related to the Watch 2 mainly)
There's something to be said about the Samsungs and Sony's, they may cost a lot more, but from my experience they were pretty seemless in there function.
I guessing this is how it's going to be all the way with this HM10.
Good luck users
I had the same issue, and did spend long time to find a solution, but not as bad as yours.
Yes, when he sets Google pdf as default, you won't be able me find this app, therefore, you won't see an option tm clear or as default!. What I did is search up Google pdf on Play store, then install Google pdf viewer and then clear default of this one. Then it can be detected. By the way, Huawei phone you can also select default pdf app in the default apps setting.
The option to choose default pdf viewer is available on stock emui 9.
The problem I am trying to solve:
When I tap on links that are in emails I receive from ebay, then I can only choose in which browser will these links will open and not ebay app itself (which is what I would prefer). Sometimes, instead of a browser opening, gmail app's built-in browser uses the link which automatically transfers me to the app, but that only happens a few times and without me changing any settings (I have only tried changing the WebView Implementation setting from Developer Options (my two options there are Chrome and Android System WebView) but that did not make any difference.
What I want to do:
A possible solution that I have found is an app called Open Link in App (play store link) which, as far as I understand, can be tweaked in order to open specific type of links with specific apps. Some instructions on how this can be done can be found in Github here (this link can also be found in the app's description in play store) but I am not techy enough to follow them. I suppose that the end result after following these instructions would be a modified apk, so could someone please do that for me? If the end result is not an apk but it is still possible for someone to help, that would still be welcome.
Ebay links that are included in the emails start with
Code:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/
and somewhere in the address they include www.ebay.co.uk or www.ebay.com. Then, when they open in a browser, the address becomes
Code:
https://www.google.com/url?q=https://rover.ebay.com/rover/
and then just https://www.ebay.co.uk/ or https://www.ebay.com/
If you know any other way to achieve what I want, feel free to suggest it (although I have tried many things, including apps like Open Link With... and Better Open With and they did not work)

Re-directing can be managed by editing Android's file /system/etc/hosts
For example, suppose you want to redirect your browser to www.google.com whenever someone types www.facebook.com in the browser address bar, then follows these steps :
Open hosts file.
Find out IP address of www.google.com - IP address is found out to be 74.125.53.100
Start editing at the end of the hosts file : Press Enter to start a new line.
Type 74.125.53.100, press TAB key once followed by facebook.com.
Save the hosts file.
Now whenever you (or someone else) types in your browser’s address bar www.facebook.com, he/she will be redirected to www.google.com. You can follow the same technique on any other websites.

Thank you for the reply. However, as far as I understand, this is in order to redirect an address to another address (that will still open in a browser). What I want to do is: whenever I tap on a link about an item within an ebay's email, I want ebay APP to open and show the listing of that item.
