Is it possible to port the Gingerbread MIUI over to the Aria? or even just the notification pulldown?
Cm7 is gingerbread ... look through the themes and apps threads and I think there is a theme for 2.2 if you don't want to flash cm7.. you may need cm6 though, I can't remember

CM7 is a Gingerbread Android OS based off AOSP.
However, MIUI... is MIUI; different ROMs. He's not asking for CM7.
As far as MIUI is concerned, you could try.

If they did, I would be on it. So no.
You CAN however, try to make it look like MIUI. The analog clock, the icons..ect.
Funny that you ask... I'm actually trying but I really don't know what I'm doing
Idk why i completely looked over the miui part lol... they ported it to the nexus one, the nexus s, the hd2, and the milestone, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be ported to the aria either, it would be fantastic if it was

those are all hdpi devices liberty is mdpi that is the problem
i seen the pngs are converted somwhere but that only part of it
Yeah and its only running on armv7 devices too. I think that's a big issue too.
I was really just testing out the ROM kitchen and seeing how much of a port it could do.
I also tried porting a hero froyo ROM (another gsm armv6 device) and apparently I am not smart enough to figure it out yet.
yeah porting is....yeah
from experience just need a compatible kernel
and then come the modules that are for that kernel, the hard part why i gave up on the espresso port

I was just looking for that thread! I couldn't remember who it was and was wanting to ask them how they managed to get it booted. I guess a mod must have deleted "dead" threads because I was looking for the cm6 build with fm radio for the floyo hero port and couldn't find it either :/
If it was just some dragging and dropping or editing some text files I could probably handle it. Or possibly if I knew what a tmp boot.img was... or status 0... or status 7...
You devs simply amaze me.
And since I'm already rambling.... has any one ever, or is it even possible to, build an aosp ROM from source for the liberty?
Yeah, MIUI is cool but the HDPI/MDPI thing and the ARMv6 kills chances of getting a port. Oh well. I love CM.
An AOSP ROM would be too close to CM for most people/devs to put the time in, in my opinion.

I have this on my incredible and its super fast. Feels very lite. It is a 2.2 aosp rom, so I'm thinking, easy on system resources. So I'm wondering if this could be useable on the eris. Would be nice.
Check it out...
Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded

Possible, but impractical. Since the incredible has an hdpi screen, and the eris has mdpi, every single graphic has to be manually resized. It's possible, but it would be a nightmare. Maybe someday an automated solution will be created. That would rock!
Not gonna lie, that UI looks pretty legit. I would defiantly flash if someone ported it.
Yeah, that's got a really nifty UI... I want.
I would love to have this ported too...At first they said it worked on Desire but I thought they meant the desire that resembles the eris. I am almost tempted to go with a desire just so i can root and try out that rom...lol.
I've been drooling over this rom the past couple days. I rooted my buddy's dinc and was checking out roms for him and saw this one. It would be SAWEEEEET!!
Not that I have any idea what I'm talking about when it comes to porting (like at all), but could something like this be of any help? -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785864
it could be ported alot easier if the res on the screens was the same as ours, if the made that for the legend we would get it but most likely it wont happen. :/

Go to the incredible forums or the nexus one forums its being distributed there. I didn't think it would be that difficult given that my favorite 2.2 eris rom cyanogen tazz was ported from a nexus one build.
I'm running this on my incredible now. Its marvelous. It works better than sense running live wallpapers. No lag at all. It should run exceptionally good in the eris. Some one start a donation drive for someone who can port it.

Nope, KaosFroyo is definitely built from source by Kaos, specifically for eris. I think maybe v1 used code from the N1 dump, but there's really never been a functional eris rom ported from an HDPI device like you guys are asking for. People just don't do it.
I want it NOW!
Wow that UI is insane I want it. If anyone decides to port it or try ill add to donation

Before the galaxy s? Is there any hope for a pure gingerbread and it looks like the evo is off and running with it smooth as butter with a minor hitch with gps issues... not sure how that works, the galaxy s and nexus s are almost identical hardware wise.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Looks like a lot of their roms are AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based. This means they can take the direct source of Android and modify their roms to the Evo hardware. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe anyone has built a good solid working rom for the Vibrant off of the AOSP source alone. We've been getting builds leaked from Samsung and modifying them to build the Vibrant roms you see now. I believe Team Whiskey is working on a AOSP rom and Cyanogen Mod is an AOSP rom that they are working on porting over to Vibrant. Master/Devs4Android released an AOSP clone. I believe someone else said they have Gingerbread working and they are just bug fixing at the moment.

I would venture to say that the Evo is usually the first phone to have this stuff ported to it. It's a high demand phone to get the best ROM's on so it usually gets them first. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vibrant, and so does Team Whiskey so they're working on 2.3, they have it ported but it's experimental still, they'll let us know when it's working. But as far as CyanogenMod goes, they usually port to the Evo first.
Where is the download link for this rom? When I search "Evo 2.3" I don't get any vibrant roms.
Silly developers forgetting links
</sarcasm>
also keep in mind, once the Vibrant 2.2 source is put out the devs will have easier time porting 2.3 also

Mooseberrypie is the best Rom for the Vibrant hands down. I hear they'll get honey comb running soon! haha brilliant.

How is 2.2 source going to help with 2.3 code? That's like saying 2.1 source for our kernels helped us build a 2.2 build for our hardware.

simple answer is that its an htc phone, htc releases everything for their phones while samsung does not, though honestly I prefer my Vibrant to my G2

LOL. Not a chance. They're not going to bother updating the Sense version on the stock 2.1 ROM - it's likely the March OTA, being such a relatively minor update, is the very last official update the Eris will see. And fully working ports of Sense-based 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs have not been able to be made completely working; and I doubt at this point that it will ever happen.
That's what I figured expecially if the thunderbolt isn't getting. Just was wondering because the Eris wasn't getting froyo either but now I'm running gingerbread on it.

Android itself is open source, which allows any devs who want to create their own Android ROMs such as CyanogenMod or pure AOSP to do so. HTC Sense is proprietary and not open source, which makes making versions of it work on devices it wasn't made for much harder.
I like my froyoeris so much i hardly miss sense. it was nice but this phone is far, far better now than before <thank you kaos!> i might have tried one of the froyosense roms but i need to have a camera... cant miss the candid moments with the kids.
I don't miss sense at all. Besides the Widgets was there anything else really special to it?

I highly doubt it. They don't even think it can be ported to the Dinc in our forums. Sense 3.0 just takes to much space. Might be able to port some of the Widgets and junk though.

Agreed, been running AOSP forever tryed flashing a sense rom couldn't do it.
Is it possible to get sense on Optimus V?
well combine CM7, a sense style theme, LP Sense UI, Fancy Widgets with H7C skins... you can get something that is sense-ish
i doubt we'll ever see anything closer to sense on the Optimus V
Thats what i thought :/
well
I did do some looking on youtube and cam across this http://youtu.be/PzlBijNUbnc an I was amazed but I don't know how he got it like that.
I think it would be pretty much impossible for us or most other non htc based phones to ever see a sense based rom, I believe the major reason is because of legality issues with it. Don't quote me on that though. I'd love to see it happen, but it just wouldn't be worth it for any devs
someone ported it to the optimus p500 and has a thread on it. It's very much possible and would probably be a huge pita.
Yeah i could see some trouble with legality. I did see something over on android central, it was a fully themed HTC Espresso ROM which i think would be pretty cool to have. However, the link was to a google docs file share and the file was gone
but, by the time i can afford a Moto Triumph they're will probably be quite a few ROM's out. I know they've already rooted with Gingerbreak. savin up my money
Probably something I did awhile back. The legality isn't/hasn't ever been an issue. It's just getting everything to work right. I did a cm7 theme (it's on the market) it's missing some things and right now I been making my own roms so that the lockscreen can look like it should and a couple other things.

it is old work now no one works on MIUI
Well i'm back... finally finished my exams and got some time for myself.
But i have a bit of bad news. I've been studying android and how it's build and how it works and i'm afraid this might be an impossible port to make for now. I've looked into the Galaxy 3 port and it's not an actual port. It's just the framework. So it is possible to port apps from the rom but they might not work fully because of incompatible libs.
Now about the libs, they are compiled specifically for a type of processor (in miui case armv7) which have some instructions built in. While armv7 may run armv6 libs it's not possible the other way around. So even if we got the phone to boot, and got the launcher and a few miui apps running it wouldn't be miui.
I see that SWEATTAIMI is still working to complete the port of the framework and i wish him the best of luck but i will have to step down since i am working on other android projects that are more likely to come to an end than this.

Thats because both sense and miui are close sourced,so if we encounter a bug after porting the rom,it is not possible to fix it.
