Anyone know of a patch or an app that enables the camera flash to actually work as a flash as opposed to just shining like a flashlight?
vignette from the app market

Why does Vignette work on 2.2 with zoom and LED flash but we can't get the stock app to work.
This maybe a stupid question, so if it is I am sorry in advance but is there not a way to port the working features from vignette to the stock app? Would vignette not have the drivers to use these features?
Vignette only cuts out a piece of a picture and calls that zooming... The stock app doesn't do that...

Stock app does that too, granted maybe a little better optimised.
It's still called "Digital Zoom".
No phone is capable of optical zoom, which gives the best results in photography.

I am using IceColdSandwich 6.1 and the native Camera app doesnt have tap to focus. The Sense camera did.
I am wondering, Is there any app/mod to get tap to focus?
Search up Camera ICS on the play store. It's the normal ICS camera with added features.

I downloaded it, but it still doesnt give me tap to focus..
Something wrong with the ROM, or the way i flashed it maybe?
I'm not sure, works for me on all ROMS I've used so it must be the ROM but I can't be sure as I haven't tried the ROM you're using.
I am using Camera FV-5 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&feature=more_from_developer
There is also a free lite version limited to 0.3MP you can use to try it out
Based off of other posts and the web it looks like Cyanogen Mod 9 is the only ROM with tap to focus ICS camera.
Trying out all features of Neutrino V2.91 Rom
All seams great except camera is pretty basic quality.
HDR Camera app is alot better. Though has no zoom function.
Whats the best android camera app to take the best quality photos (indoors and outside) for the Atrix 4G?
Is it worth trying the blurcamera apk over the MUIU apk?
Idk about others but I use the stock GB camera app. Works great, simple settings and straight to the point. Start app and take pick. No long complicated settings or startup. Simple and fast

Camera 360. Enough said.
Thanks for the replies -
Do you have a link for a GB camera that will work with Neutrino?
I downloaded 3 and each starts installing and each fails..
Downloading 360 - seems to be as good as HDR but with ZOOM
[Camera 360 - HD,Effect,Zoom - SmartStar]
The GB camera is the stock camera app. I think it is already provided in the rom. Not sure since I haven used it in a while. Been on MROM a while now. Anyway if u like camera 360 you should stick with it. I have to admit it's a great camera app. I used to use it but I never has use for all the effects so I use the stock camera. FXcamera is also a good camera app..

Camera Apps
So far I've found these to be the best options
General - HDR Camera
Night - Night Camera (seems to work better in low light)
Panorama - ...?
Hi,
I am looking for a camera app that would take two pics <one with flash and one without> and blend them (user adjustable).
Sort of a low light flash-assisted HDR mode. It could be also called adjustable fill flash mode. As a bonus color temperature of the flash pic could be adjustable.
Is there such an app?
Thanks
Great idea! Could be called FHDR (Flash High Dynamic Range), or something.
Sadly, I don't know if such an app exists.
It can be done,I'm just not sure if the results would be great though...
For it to work, the flash picture would have to be taken first, as focusing with the flash takes longer and would make you frame it differently than the first picture, so if you take the flash pic first, the no flash one can be taken immediately after
Would it be possible to port Xiaomi Mi4's camera app? It does have a "smart flash" mode that does just that:

I did some testing with ProCapture2 's ReducedNoise+/Night+ mode, and it did automatically take & combine two shots, one w/ flash and one w/o .
On my Nexus5, it only works if the camera uses the flash to focus and it results in a nice fill flash effect, much nicer than flash alone.
Unfortunately it doesn't always work, sometimes it will fire the flash on both shots....

That would actually be a nice addition to a good camera app. Like you mentioned at the moment I have to take a flash and none flash and combine them to get the desired effect.
Hey
Interesting. I like this idea.
Bump. Anyone knows of a camera app that has implelemented this?
have anyone tried any camera app other than stock?
the stock camera app doesn't have background blur effect!
Whatever camera app you use you wont have that effect apart from
Google camera and lens blur mode. So try that one , it works well but the results can be good or bad..
Use the Google Camera ported to Snapdragon 820/821.
