Hi.
I have a fascinate and i used odin to get my 2.1 to a froyo or aka 2.2.
Now, i want the 2.1 version back. I did not make a backup for im only a 12 year old kid. Please help me! Will restoring it get it back to 2.1 or will it stay at 2.2? If it will change it back, how do u restore or restock a samsung fascinate?
Simply search for the all in one odin package for di01 or dl09 and you will be right back to stock.

Ummmmmmm....
Sir, can u help me understand what that means because im only 12 years old?
You said you used odin to get 2.2, use the same method to get 2.1.
Use the search function in the development section for "DI01" or "DL09"
If the thread says DI01/DL09 all in one package or something, download the file from that thread. The file may be dead in the first post, so just check the latest posts in that thread as they usually have an new download link.
Also it would be better next time for you to not to install some things if you arent sure of it. You could make your phone not work anymore by improper installation.
LINK!
Here you go. if you use ODIN to flash back, do NOT forget to use the PDA button.
I repeat for emphasis, DO NOT USE THE "PHONE" BUTTON
Here is the full package.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867648
Either one of the links in that thread should work fine (I downloaded those as a backup a few days ago)
Thanks but uhhhh, wat does dont forget to use pda mean?
What does dont use the phone button mean? And will doing this lose all my apps?
You have to load the tar file in the PDA bar. DO NOT USE PHONE OPTION!!!!

Hello,
I keep on trying to search, but search function is not working at this time, for how to receive the 2nd update for 2.1 for the Samsung Vibrant that we received in October. I had to recently flash my phone using Odin3 back to stock, but it was the very first launch stock. I am trying to find the second the update with the task manager and the gps fix. Sorry, but still am a noob at this. Any help is greatly appreciated
*Please note, I am running on Mac right now*
Google Samsung Kies. Oh and btw post in Q&A section next time.

So, update us. How did it go?
sorry been stuck because of finals this week. I still have it at 2.1 without the update.
I have been trying to use ODIN to flash to the JI6 file, but it does not read the modem.bin and goes to the factory.rfs and stays there forever.
I am not sure if I should load the PIT file i used to restore to factory settings, but I tried it with both.
ODIN with tar and Pit
and
ODIN with tar only
If using windows vista or windows 7. When you open odin, right click it and run as administrator instead of double clicking on it. If using windows xp, try unplugging all other usb connections while trying to flash.

If you are refering to the 2.1-update1 go to www.samfirmware.com - sign up. Download the one right after JFD and i believe it is the one you are looking for, using ODIN, flash the file after reverting to stock yet again. Hope this helped.
Im on stock froyo +jk6 voodoo kernel, and I disabled voodoo. And tried to get into recovery and I cant. It says "error: missing bitmap cannot indeterminate 1 code -7" and I have tried alot and idk what to do now but im afraid to restore my backup, or anything... I really need some help here to get back to original cwm amd continue happily flashing. Thanks
You will need to ODIN back to stock, you can find the howto in the Bible section above or in the QA section. When you ODIN back to stock, it will flash stock recovery, then use Rom Manager to get back clockwork recovery.

Whenever I have a problem i go back to stock, get into download mode and flash odin using the 512 pit file and the JFD tarball. Then you can go to whatever you like.
When in doubt, ODIN!
Any way I can do it without odin?
I don't think you have any choice you did something wrong so yea just odin back to stock it is easy and you wont have a know in your stomach doing anything risky

Other than ODIN, I dont believe there is any other way. I accidentally ' restore ' my cwm backups, and this was back when I was using Fusion 2.1 eclair. But if you're on 2.2, I dont recommend doing such. Unless your backup previous to your current is also a 2.2 build, then try? Notice: do this at your own risk!!!! I dont recommend this, I got lucky, and accidentally went back to my olds build, but it was pure LUCK! When in doubt, ODIN!!

Did you buy the phone yourself (on your own account)? If not, it may be best not to mess with it then. The phone is very hard to actually brick but still.

This is hilarious
Haha I know its funny. But my phones fine ill just have to wait to odin another time....
make sure you are using vol up + vol down + power+home to get into recovery. You usually get that bitmap unknown mode when pressing vol up +power+home.
I got that error once, I plugged the phone into my pc, after putting it into download mode, drivers were seen, then I restarted the phone, it put me in the recovery screen where I just hit reboot and BAM the phone was up and working.
Only this is, sorry man but your going to need to odin back to stock cause once you try and reboot to CW BAM ... ERROR..
Do you know anyone with their own PC? or Lappy? Do at there house and be done with it..
With that said, this thread should be closed and further questions should be posted in the Q&A section. Please follow the rules.

Follow the link and read. Start at step 1 which will bring you to Android Central. I rooted this way and it was great..

I am running on EA28 firmware. all the threads tell about DL09. any difference?
Not to be an ass or anything, but if you can't figure out how to root the phone, find a stickied thread, or what needs done to flash ROMs, than you should stay away from 2.2 until you can. Odds are, you'll end up flashing something you shouldn't and it will be harder to get back to a working phone. Read through the threads and stickies first and gain an understanding of how to accomplish whatever it is you want to do.

I was able to root while on EA28, but make sure you read the "Note to Stock Users" at the bottom of the first post on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913470
If you are new to rooting or new to rooting this phone, you really need to read the instructions carefully (no skimming!) a few times before starting. It took me about three hours to root and install DL30 the night I got my phone (including time I goofed things up).
Good luck!

You need to be descriptive! What are you trying to do?
Slow down!
I researched information and asked questions for a week before I did anything. And at that point i knew every step that I needed to do in detail...
In contrast you seem to be just jumping in...
For now, if you're phone don't work, search for the di01 all in 1 package and use odin to push it to your phone in PDA section.. Only use PDA SECTION..
Then write me back on here telling me exactly what you want. Then ill write you a step by step procedure to get you threre..

You're in the right place, but you really should heed the advice you've already been given and read what's available before you make a costly mistake...
I started with the same stock configuration as you. Thanks to several hard-working devs (adrynalyne; jt1134 and others willing to document steps for us noobs), I'm now running Froyo with all the functionality I've been after since I bought this thing... Honestly, it's like a new phone.
EVERY question and glitch along the way had already been addressed on these forums - it's all there for the searching.
Also, I gather that folks will more patiently assist you if you *do* get into a fix if it appears you're willing to first RTPFM (read the proverbial f#$%^&* manual .
best of luck with it.
Quick hit. I have a fascinate as well I used superoneclick and it says it is rooted but when I try to to use an app taht requires su permissions it says my phone is not rooted ?
Do you want to root stock Verizon or do you want to load pre-rooted Rom with bing removed (as well as other bloatware etc.)?

I have to send my vibrant in for warranty and would like to flash back to stock before I do that because I think tmobile would find it funny and not warranty a phone with a custom rom. One problem, when I flashed CM7 in never backed up stock so i cant restore to stock Froyo. Any suggestions? I am not a novice with flashing so simple would be excellent fit
making a backup really wouldn't have helped anyway.
first, you need to read the FAQ in both the dev thread and the cm7 q&a thread for the vibrant because your answer about going back to stock is located in there (i promise you it is, you just need to read it).
the process involves using odin and th JFD build.
edit: i should probably mention that it is located in the first post in each thread.
I would recommend this: download the AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5 since it have all the files and instructions you need to go back to stock...except maybe if your phone doesn't want to go into download mode the usual way, but there are tons of threads of going into download mode around here, just search 2 or 3 pages back (in fact, there is one i myself created, its on page 3 or 4 i believe.)
Good luck!
if toolbox doesnt work for u u can always go back to stock 2.1 with odin!
power off phone
pull out battery
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
enjoy and also make sure u have proper samsung drivers
Thank you guys very much for all the info. I will try this when i get home

Well I thought I would try CM7. Apparently the ROM that I was running made a straight upgrade to CM7 impossible.
I flashed back to stock using
s1_odin_20100512.pit
T959UVJFD.tar
Passed with no issues. Also formated the internal SD. Now when I try the usual update.zip method of rooting, the little script seems to stop almost immediately but with no error messages. The progress bar only goes about a 1/10 of the way, then it says successful and reboots. However I don't have SU access nor busybox.
Totally stumped. Any thoughts? This phone was originally rooted in using the same method. If I were to guess, I would say that maybe this "original" ROM is not the original one I had on the phone when I bought it at T-Mo.
When I look at the phones ID it says:
model :SGH-T959
FW: 2.1 update 1
BB: T959UVJFD
Kern: 2.6.29
Build Number :Eclair (I don't remember it originally saying Eclair but I could be mistaken)
Any help would be appreciated.
Apparently the usual update.zip has been naughty lately. Use the attached update.zip posted by s15274n instead.

I think there are two different stock flashes you can use. if you can't root its probably because you used the wrong one. I know that 2.2 froyo also has rooting issues.

star, I would suggest my noob guide in my signature. It has ODIN and two update.zips... one for just rooting, and the other to just flash CWR (the one I use). The latter allows you to ODIN > go straight into CWR and flash a rom.
Done.
i have alll the files needed. i have every file organized into a simple rar. goto my "lifesaver" post and download the rar. it should help!
