I am wondering if there are other from Norway here that can say something about wich baseband you use.
I now use the .55 and i must say the strenght and all that i crap! I almost never get 3G here i Stavanger. And when i try using the Facebook places to tell other where i am i have a hard time getting the facebook to update the places to chose.
So i am wondering if its me using the wrong baseband that is the problem?
So tell me how your mobil network connection is and what baseband you use.
BTW i use Onecall as the supplier if that means something.
I have been on 54,55 and now 58 all was working fine for me.
But i think 58 i best
I think baseband is not for a special place at all, use the baseband recommended for your rom
low 3g signal strenght is because of a bad service from your operator i guess

Alright, so can anyone clear up what a baseband actually is?
I assume that you can flash any baseband, but there's no guarantee that your phone model (x10a, x10i) will actually have a signal with it. However, I've never seen a list or anything that shows which basebands are compatible with which models.
Basically, I just want to know which ROMs I can flash without having to worry about my phone not getting a signal. I always see that certain basebands aren't supported in some ROMs.
The only way to be sure will be just trying it for yourself. Besides as long as the flashtool works on your phone you can flash any baseband packages, as many times as you want. If you want to be conservative, find which firmware supports your carrier or which one is "generic" and choose the baseband that comes with it.

In the U.S. just about any baseband works with my X10a.

I've used bb 46, 49, 52, 54, 58, 65 & 67 (can't remember them all) and I never had any signal issues. The only issue I had with different basebands had to do with txt messaging. On some of them I had trouble sending & receiving text messages, the most recent one being BB 65 which ironically was suppose to be for at&t phones .
I have never any issue too with BB in my country, been using 52, now on 67.
Baseband is controlling all the wireless connections on the phone, be it mobile network signal, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
There's some confusion around basebands, you'll often read "Baseband xx makes my phone smoother" etc. This is not entirely true, since it just controls connections. However, of course, it's tied to the whole system.
As far as stock 2.1 firmware goes, you can use any baseband from .49 to .67 with any version. I remember I used .58 with the very first 2.1 SE version, .504.
Custom ROMs usually are built with some certain baseband or baseband group compatibility and it is normally declared in the OP of the ROM thread.
Baseband groups are: .49-.52 and .54-.67. The biggest difference between those two is that the first one is half-duplex baseband and the second one is full-duplex. That means that with the first batch, you can't have simultaneous mobile network connections (eg, 3G data transfers and calling) but with the second one you can. This is why some people faced problems sending multiple SMS on .49 and .52.
I hope I cleared things out for you!

Hello,
I used the ftf file here -->)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147970) to update to gingerbread with the flashtool
Everything works and stuff, and if I turn Data on, I get 3.5g (the H symbol comes up) but I remember I bought my phone from ATT, so it was the X10a
Will the different model# change anything on my phone, and can I change it back any way?

Thats ok. Its because of the firmware you flashed. Your phone is still technically a x10a.
Im on rogers, x10a as well...but look at what it says below.

Flash back to 2.1
Or i think u can change it in the build.prop
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Ah Ok, thank you, I guess I'll live with the i,
thank you =)
You can change every instance of x10i in your build.prop to x10a like Patchy said but only if you used Doomlord's pre-rooted 2.3. If you are on stock you'll have to wait for root. & I imagine an x10a generic kit will roll out within the week..
I am on Rogers and also have an x10a...but on 2.1 have been using an x10i ROM for around 8 months (different roms but always x10i created roms) but never had a problem at all.

I am about to do the same. i have x10a but will put wolfs build in .
Btw the "H" is apparently better than "3g", i have been getting greater speeds. I unbranded my phone from atnt and the H now comes up instead of the regular 3g.. only better speeds for me.
Only the "i" generic firmware has been released.
It doesn't matter because all firmwares after v2.1 include both software radios for "a" and "i".
NOTE: Flashing an "i" firmware onto your "a" phone does NOT give you "i"-frequency 3G support (and vice versa). (Hardware) radios are FIXED and cannot be changed by firmware flashing.

H = HSPA = 3.5G = faster.

Hi,
I have a SE Xperia X10i that I purchased the other week which I had unlocked via the SE servers in a phone shop as I wanted to explore the full potential of this phone. Now it is second hand so bear this in mind....
It was originally locked to the Three network in the UK, I was on O2.
The original phone had 2.1 Android on it.
After having it unlocked I rooted the phone and also installed xRecovery version 3 and then installed CM7-ZMOD CYANOGENMOD 7 V3 from 19/08/2011 which is Android 2.3 and also Baseband .71.. I love this ROM thanks to zdzihu for producing this.
I have a problem with my network service.. It drops in and out all the time.. sometimes and can have a full signal at one location and return to that location 2 hours later and get the dreaded (No Service).. Also if I go into searching networks.. it also says no network providers can be found.. even when I have a signal!!!!
I jave tried the SIM in another phone LG and it works fine at that location. I have also tried another SIM, 02 in the phone and I get the same network drop out behaviour.. I go into Bristol every day.. quite a klarge city in the UK and I am sure that the coverage is there.. well actually I know it's there..
Now I have I got a Baseband problem or a phone hardware problem?
Anyone that could help I would be grateful of assistance.
Many Thanks.
Anyone??
Okay as I didn't get a reply to the original post I shall try a different tact....
As I am getting very intermittent phone signals (GPRS/3G) etc and the WiFi and GPS is okay would it be possible to downgrade the BaseBand version as I assume that this is what drives the functionality of 2G and 3G signals?
I am currently on the following:
Model X10i
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-zdzihu-19082011
Mod Ver: ZMOD
Build Number: CM7-ZDZIHU-MOD.
I know the Basebands are location dependent, well some of them. I live in the South West of the UK if it's important
Many Thanks
Paul
You could try switching to another rom, who knows, or maybe switching to another sim card

Yeah I have tried 2 other sims from different operators and also about 5 different ROMS.. (Wolf, Ultima, TEAM etc) No change... I just wondered what the process was to try a different BB.. (lower version).. If not I may have a HW problem..
Thanks for the response.

Try downgrading to 2.1 with baseband .67/.54 and see if that resolves your issue. If not, then it may indeed be a hardware fault.
Hello I am from india I have Motorola atrix 4g.
My first problem was that it was not having data on off setting under Mobile network. Which in other Mobil I have. In case if no network connection I used to dial *#*#4636#*#* to see the data condition whether it is on or off .
Once I accidentally opened select radio and selected USA Band. Now I lost all network.what to do please I have searched the forum but not understand the answers or I fear it is not for my Mobile software version. I can not decide which solutions to use.
Important notes
I don't know whether it's at&t or other.
The detail are

Hi jatinmend,
I can't help with your problem, but I do not believe your phone is an AT&T phone. I just purchased a replacement for my AT&T Atrix that broke, from Newegg here in the USA and it has the same build number. The other data in the about phone area indicates it as being an Asian region phone. Under system Version it says 45.31.0MB860.AsiaRetail.en.03

Hello everyone, I am having a problem with my new Xperia P. I first got the phone on ICS. 54 FW and for some reason the option to select Network Mode (switch to GSM only, WCDMA only, etc.) was greyed out. I noticed that in an area with conflicting GSM/3G signal my phone lost signal for extended periods. I though by flashing a new ROM (Vision V4) that the issue would be solved. I flashed and am now able to access the Network Mode selection. It was on WCDMA preferred/GSM and I clicked GSM only, the phone immediately rejected this and went t\back to the state that it had been in. This is basically making my phones network features useless and I suspect the battery life is suffering as well. I flashed stock .75 ICS and even back to .54 ICS and the same issue occurs no matter what I flash. I went into the "hidden menu" accessed via button combination in the dialer and tried manually selecting GSM only from the list of preferred networks and the same issues occurs, no matter what option I choose, the phone immediately changes back to WCDMA preferred/GSM. This would not be as big an issue as it is if I lived somewhere else with better signal, but my home and work environment are both like this so it is a major issue.
I urgently need help in this matter, I have read about similar issues but either the thread has no replies or the suggestions do not work. I had read about some Sony forum members asking if I the persons had cut their micro SIM. I have, so I ordered a new micro SIM ready to be activated and it's on its way. These suggestions about the micro SIM were also answered with replies stating that they changed out the SIM and the error still occurs and I suppose it will more that likely persist in my situation.
If anyone could, I really need some help. Thank you for reading.

Hey mate,
Im not sure but I think you have a wrong baseband which might be causing the issue. (not sure cause i remember hearing somewhere that P covers all bandwidth etc )
If that might be the case, you need an FTF for your specific model to flash its baseband
Again, not sure so try this only if you dont get any replies soon

Yeah, I think it may be something with my baseband. Every now and then I get an "R" above the signal display meaning I am technically roaming but this is very random. I don't really see any flashable basebands for the Xperia P though. I will do more research though and thank you for the suggestion. :good:
Well, couldn't find anything so I just sent it back to the seller for a replacement. Mine had a bad pixel on the screen anyway. Here's to getting one that works in about 2 weeks..
I too have the same issue but my problem is that my device freezes the touchscreen on 2g network. On every Rom that I have tried.. I am still waiting for a fix..
Tried to change the SIM and network still the same..

Yes, that is very weird.. Are you still able to switch network modes? I'm on AT&T so the network compatibility should be fine, I'm just guessing we have defective units.. I emailed Sonymobile about the issues and got a response telling me that some carriers have a lock on their networks. This isn't true though because I have plenty of phones (Android and other) that had worked with 2G/3G with the option to select and it worked fine. I do this to all the Android phones I have ever owned. Hoping the JB update addresses the many issues we are all having with the many ICS iterations. I wanted to stop using Japanese smartphones (currently having to use F-10D until I get a good replacement) because of the hassle with use between countries and there being no development existent. I thought I could get a headache free experience from a less strict supplier but it seems I just can't have a good experience.
Like I said, I sent in for a replacement and should be getting one soonish, I don't know what I'll do if the same problem occurs except just wait for JB and see what it holds.
Can anyone with this phone on AT&T confirm that my phone was defective and not just (supposedly) carrier related?
I bought it from Saudi Arabia, only 3g works but freezes in 2g after some usage.. I am from India. I think unlocking SIM LOCK of my phone might fix the issue..
