Latest Kernel mod -> Go Here
Based on 4.1.B.0.431 ICS 4.0.4 Kernel, features new CPU governors and autoroot.
Q. Who would benefit from this?
Those who want to stick to stock kernel for Official ICS (4.1.A.0.562), but would still want to get the benefits of init.d scripts, and native root access!
I personally feel ICS stock kernel is more battery friendly than Night-elf RC2 kernel.
Q. Features?
- init.d support (credits DooMLoRD for showing the way)
- ro.secure=0 (that is now adb has native root access!)
- clockworkmod 5.5 (credits Night-elf)
- no other changes to stock kernel
Download

Changes: Previous features +
1. Switched to Doomlord's arc ics recovery (better features)
2. Important bug-fixes. (Please update!)
boot_ICS_plus_v4.img (updated 2012-05-19)
Changes: Previous features +
1. Perfect ADB connection in recovery.
2. Short vibrate on entering recovery added
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v3.img
Changes: Now restores stock WIFI modules (so you can directly flash from Night-elf kernel without losing WIFI!)
Those who are using v2 without problems do not need to update!
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v2.img
Changes: CWM 5.5, with ADB & USB mount (credits Night-elf)
Q. How to install?
Just as you install a custom kernel.
If no wifi, just delete "modules_version" and "modules_reversion" in "/system/lib/modules" and reboot
Steps:
1. Follow this guide to install official ICS + root
(Do not install CWM)
2. If you already have DooMLoRD/nAa CWM, go to /system/bin with any root explorer and delete recovery.tar and chargemon
3. Power down device and get into FASTBOOT MODE -> switch off device hold menu key & plugin usb. (LED notification turns BLUE)
4. check fastboot with "fastboot devices"
5. flash boot image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. Reboot with "fastboot reboot"
7. Enjoy!
Nice job!! Thanks!!

Just extract Night-Elf ramdisk and use it. I was planning on doing it in fact.

That would be nice too.
Most important is CWM recovery.
Don't want to add it manually after flashing rom..
Yeah would be nice to see recovery, cause system recovery doesn't allow to mount sdcard in recovery mode, moreover adb cannot see phone in system recovery.

NO, NO !! His ramdisk has installer for his WiFi modules!
Would have to modify his ramdisk anyway!
Night-elf kernel is good, but it is not from latest ICS sources, I feel battery drain is a little bit more than his GB kernel!!

Same as nightelf's, 5.5.
His sd mount works using that one.

Yep but that is no big deal. Make a diff patch for the new ramdisk (there shouldn't be much changes, and there is just a few files on the ramdisk...) + remove res/modules folder and launch entry from init.rc.

Good one, but no busybox ?
Why is it that every time i use NE's kernel i end up with no wifi when moving to another one? It's really annoying, ffs
Oh, and your kernel seems really fluid, had no issues on gaming, while i had on nightelf's and inteks'.
Because NE kernel has own wifi modules, which not working with other kernels.
Both this is not the NE kernel's topic.

That, and su are included in all my ROM's
A friend of mine unfortunately has a 5830i. I managed to root it and make a cement backup, but then i noticed that not having an init.d folder nor a modded kernel there weren't many tweaks to apply.
Has anyone got some suggestions about it? For the moment i installed latest v6 supercharger, which seems to work nice.
Sent from my Galaxy Ace on Cm 7.2
Isn't supercharger, like all other script needs init.d to run too? How come u can make it work without init.d:/
I'm trying to implement init.d on mine under a Stock Rom. Everything is working, just need to make BusyBox run these scripts at the phone's start up.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236446
If we manage to do this we can install those custom scripts and even make custom ROMs out of it.

Script manager! XD
Sent from my Galaxy Ace on Cm 7.2
I combined Script Manager and these 'hacks' I posted and I think it kinda worked, everything in init.d is being executed on Stock rom of our phone model.
Hi,
Would asomeone of you guys be so kind to tell me how to odex FRAMEWORK files (jars) and system apps. Especialy, do it in batch - once for all files.
Maybe some script, a working one, becouse I unsuccessfuly tried the scripts on xda for odex ICS, and i used SGS3's BOOTCLASSPATH
from init.rc
BOOTCLASSPATH /system/framework/core.jar:/system/framework/core-junit.jar:/system/framework/bouncycastle.jar:/system/framework/ext.jar:/system/framework/framework.jar:/system/framework/framework2.jar:/system/framework/android.policy.jar:/system/framework/services.jar:/system/framework/apache-xml.jar:/system/framework/filterfw.jar:/system/framework/sec_edm.jar:/system/framework/seccamera.jar

And you maybe know if it is possible to odex custom rom files where you don't have the original odex files...
so using the odex files from stock rom (the same the custom rom is based on).
I tried it with some script and bootlooped...
What I would like to do, is to take a custom rom and odex it. As quickly as possible.
I would love using a custom rom but not losing the advantages of ODEXed rom...
I would appreciete your help.
Rgds,
Hi all,
I want to be as close as possible to stock, so if possible I'd like to avoid flashing a custom kernel. Is there any mod that I can flash on my stock XXDLI8 that lets me obtain init.d support?
No, it requires a modded kernel to load the /system/etc/init.d on boot.
[MOD]Term-init & Zip-init: Enable Init.d for Any Phones w/o Need of Custom Kernels!!!

If you look in stock rom system and framework files you will see that every apk followed with same name .odex file. Deodexed roms have only apk files without odex which allow you easy modify system and framework files. Also deodex lighter about 10%. All custom roms like MIUI, CM and so on are deodexed.

You can install on second system.
Must to extract the package into the clockworkmode/backup folder in your internal storage, then restore as a backup on the second system.
So your stock rom will be untouched.

Installed as second system with BMM 0.2.7 seems to work flawlessly, also the Razr m UI is smoothest than applied myself on stock rom or on other roms.
Will report back about battery life.
Nice work artur0588.
When you enable the alarm you get fc. Also when you press Ok after you modify the settings of a alarm you get fc.
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, with Alarm you get FC's but the Settings will be saved. Therefore not a big deal.
But, howto activate the Overclocking - Thing if Bootmenu will be used ?
I've put the File in with the proper Permissions but still not seeing any kind of governors or Overclocking capabilities.
Regards
MoS
yes i know the settings are saved, but i was just saying about the fc, in stock 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU i didn't had any fcs with the alarm, so it must be some of the tweaks added..
