Among the things I have done to increase my enjoyment of my G-Tablets was
to set up a ClockWorkMod Emergency MicroSD Card. I operated and modded by
G-Tablet for almost four months without even using NVFlash! I learned a bunch
of ways to mod and recover -- most of which are in STICKY files are the start
of the various Forums here.
But here is a trick I haven't decribed in detail -- my CWM Emergency MicroSD.
I have always tried to keep one of my G-Tablets as stock as possible, but there
are times you need CWM to repartition or wipe or mount something. To be sure,
you always can with copy from your PC to /SDCARD and install or recover that
way. But sometimes that doesn't work.
When the G-Tablet boots into recovery, it checks the internal memory first to
see if a recovery folder with a command file in it exists. If so, it uses it. If not,
then it searched /SDCARD2 (the microSD external card) to see if it is there and
if it has a recovery folder and update.zip on it.
The key to using a microSD in recovery in the external slot is that the command
file has to point to the /SDCARD2 location. You have to use an editor like
Notepad to go into the command file in the recovery folder and edit the
command line to change /SDCARD to /SDCARD2. Works well, but be sure when
you save to keep the file name as "command" (without the parentheses, of course).
And make sure your editor doesn't add a suffix like .txt to it either.
TO MAKE MY EMERGENCY CWM MiniSD:
1. Download a copy of ClockWorkMod v.8 to your PC. Don't use Rom Manager
and don't use any of the newer versions of CWM. If you do, near-bricks are in
site. (The one exception is that Roebeet has created a special version of this
same software to use with the new generation stock software VS may bring
out -- but you don't need to worry about that yet.)
2. Put you microSD into your PC or depending on what kind of reader/card you
have put it in the carrier/adapter and plug it into your PC.
3. If the download of CWM you have requires it, extract the files so that you
have a recovery folder and an update.zip file.
4. Copy the two files into the root directory of the microSD card.
5. Go into the recovery folder and edit the command file command line to read:
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
Then save the file making sure the name remains "command".
6. You now have a working microSD, but I do a couple of things more just for
my own use. I copy the update.zip to a second file named "cwmupdate.zip"
so I have a backup if I need it. And I copy the edited recovery folder (and
command file) to "cwmsdcard2recovery" as a backup because every time
you use the recovery folder the process deletes the command file and if you
want to use it again, you have to create it again.
7. The Emergency CWM microSD card will work unless something has messed
up your recovery partition -- so many times you can use it without having to
NVFlash back to stock.
Of course, if you create a card like this, you need to learn CWM and the menus
and the commands on them and how they work.
Also, the stock updates always write over CWM if it is on your system. If you
have this card, it becomes much easier to restore CWM if you need it.

P. S. -- Afterthought. If you don't have a microSD card and some kind of adapter for it
that allows you to work with it on your PC, you're missing a valuable troubleshooting
tool. It also allows you to load pictures, videos, music, etc. for use in the G-Tab.

Question, just for confirmation: This process, if used with update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip (or previously back-up image), will return the gtablet to stock. Much quicker way than nvflash. Is that correct?

If you are saying "Can I do a stock recovery with the microSD card by loading the ROM and a recovery folder (with command file edited to SDCARD2) in it)?
The answer is yes for the ROMs. I'm not sure you could do it with a backup image since they might not be in the update.zip format.
Stock recovery will work to recover or load and properly formatted update.zip so long as you aren't having boot loops or don't need to wipe factory data.
I ran two G-Tablets for almost four months testing everything I wanted to without nvflashing.

Hi again everyone,
I've noticed that some people have been inquiring about getting their Stock Nook Color rom onto an SDcard. And due to legal issues with distributing the B&N rom. It would not be wise to just "dd" the stock partitions to an .img file and post it for everyone to share. On top of the fact that each Nook has the /rom and /factory partition which stores each devices unique id's. So to work around that, here's an image file with a flashable .zip that will move your stock partitions to your SDcard via a modded CWM that is preinstalled with the .img file. Hope I'm not confusing anyone?!
**DISCLAIMERS: Please read and accept all that is noted below in red**
1-I do not take responsibility for whatever happens to your Nook Color. You are doing this at your own risk. If you are unsure about what's going on here. Then I'd suggest leave your Nook how it is!
2-I tried not to mess with the /rom partition because it stores very important unique device identifiers in that partition. But no matter what I did, it kept stalling on boot. However, I did leave the /factory partition alone. Which stores a rombackup.zip of your device id's. So I would suggest backing up these two very important partitions and store it somewhere safe!
3-On the above note. This is very important. Do not try and use this SDcard on any other nook than your own. I'm not sure what will happen. But I really don't want to find out.
4-Never, ever have the same Nook Stock rom running at the same time for any reason. This will intefere with the B&N servers and send a signal to De-authorize and wipe your nook. On top of that. It might just brick your nook from ever registering again!
5-This is mounting your internal partitions to copy over to the SDcard partitions. So again, if you are unsure or hesitant or not brave enough to touch your EMMC partitions. Please drop your SDcard that you were about to burn and walk away, slowly...
6-I assume you accept all the above. If so, please continue reading for the fun stuff!

What we have here is an .img file with partitions already created and ready for you to transfer your Stock Nook rom over to your SDcard. I would like to thank rookie1 for his initial script for moving Stock Eclair to Dualboot. I just took that and modified the script to work with the SDcard install. The script will still make use of your internal 5gb emmc Media partition as well. This will also modify all the necessary files on the fly to work with your Nook SDcard Rom (eg. uRamdisk, vold.fstab...etc).
I made the .img file around 7.4 gb so that people won't have issues burning it to an 8gb card. If you want to get use of the full 8gb or 16gb card. Use EASUS partition tool to extend the /sdcard (8th) partition.
FYI: I still for some reason or another can't grasp the CWM Recovery progress bar! Totally lost when it comes to inserting the correct values in the edify script. It extends past where it should end. I'm sure it's something very simple and maybe my mind is just too tired or better yet lazy to figure it out. So if anyone can advise me on the issue, please do.
Instructions and Pre-requisites:
**Backup your NOOK!!!!!**
1-You need a Nook Color with stock rom on EMMC already registered (root it now if you wish)
2-An 8gb uSDcard or larger
2-Download Nook Stock 2 SD v0.1
3-Unzip and follow directions from Nookdevs.com to burn the .img file to your SDcard
4-Power off Nook
5-Place the SDcard that you just burned stock2sd_v0.1.img to in your Nook and power on
6-It will boot to CWM Recovery. Now choose to "install zip from sdcard"
7-Now select "choose zip from sdcard"
8-Choose "stock2sd_v0.1.zip" and confirm "yes"
9-Sit back and wait... be patient! This will take a while.
10-When finished it will say "Can you believe it! It's stock Nook on your SDcard!"
11-Leave SDcard in Nook and go back to CWM main menu and choose to "reboot system now"
12-Enjoy your Stock Nook rom on your SDcard! Now go flash all the other roms to your EMMC!
Edit 5/9: I noticed that some people have issues with the .img file when uncompressed. So I've uploaded an alternative file to try if the first didn't work. The new file is a 7zip file. It offered better compression so the file size is much smaller as well. Hope this helps out the few that had issues.

Would this be the correct steps for getting rooted Stock Rom 1.2 to run from sd card if we are using Phiremod V6.2 OC 4/24 from the EMMC and want to restore it when we are done. Would sometimes boot from rooted stock sd card and other times boot from Phiremod V6.2 EMMC with a 16GB data sd card containing movies and music.
First of all thanks for making this.
1) Use Titanium Backup "Batch" option to "Run Backup all user apps + system data".
2) Have ClockworkMod 3.0.1.0 (or higher) in EMMC. Use ROM Manager v4.2.0.2 (or higher) to "Backup Current ROM". I like to append a PhV6.2 to the end of the file name. This procedure is referred to as making a Nandroid backup.
3) Mount your current sd card on a pc and copy the folder TitaniumBackup to it. Open the folder clockworkmod on the sd card and copy the Nandroid backup folder made in step 2) to the pc. This is for backup purposes. Not used in the procedure.
4) Use the procedure in thread "[UPDATE ZIP] Stock 1.2 update.zip flashable from CWM" to change your EMMC ROM back to stock. There are two files. One replaces CWM with the stock recovery (good for going back to stock). The other doesn't replace CWM (but will replace uboot). Not sure which one to use? Perfer the doesn't replace CWM, will this work with the procedure in this thread to move "Nook Stock to SDcard Image[5/3]"?
5) Use the procedure in thread "ManualNooter 4.5.2 (For Stock 1.2)" to root your nook.
6) Use the procedure in this thread "[ADV][DEV][CWM]Nook Stock to SDcard Image[5/3]" to move the rooted 1.2 to the sd card.
7) Install original sd card. Manually Boot into EMMC Recovery (ClockworkMod 3.0.1.0 or higher - hold Power button + n button for 6 seconds). Restore the Nandroid backup folder made in step 2).

- I haven't looked at the script, but what you wrote here says that they are only mounted and copied, yes?
- Finally, this does not change the read/write flag on any of the partitions on the EMMC?

Eventual goal is to replace Phiremod V6.2 EMMC with a ROM based on CM7.1.x that has sleep fixed, wifi staple, bluetooth range extended - bluetooth keyboard functioning with wifi, hardware accelerated with over clocking at 1200/1300 and a rooted Stock 1.2 for the magazine and other reader features. Guess I am asking for a lot but I have faith in you developers!

Awesome.
This looks to be worth undoing my nice CM7 install, reverting back to 1.1 (then upping to 1.2) for. I would very much like to get some of the stock functionality back and this looks like a great way to do it without having to modify my EMMC partition table.
The dual-boot option looked promising as well but I really don't want to mod the partitions on this thing, especially since I use CM7 most of the time.

I don't think it matters which restore to stock .zip you use. This script will basically copy what ever setup you have on your EMMC to your SDcard. Your steps are correct as I see it. Please advise if the steps you took worked or not.

Thanks for advising. I'm checking the download now. Anyone else have the same issue?

The problem seems to be in the reported size of the original file within the zip.
In mine (downloaded from the hated Rapidshare):
- Compressed size: 120,494 kb
- Original size: 807,167,488,681,452 kb
Maybe a corrupt compression?

Same issue...corrupt, download size is 4k.

Edit: I've just downloaded it to my mac at work and used Stuffit Deluxe to unzip it. And it unzipped and mounted fine for me. I'll see if I can rezip this one and reupload.

The MD5 of the file I have matches the one posted in the OP, so I am fairly sure the download wasn't corrupted. It seems to be a problem with the original file uploaded.
A quick re-zip might fix the issue.

I did burn the rom and installed the zip from cwr it worked.

So you must have been able to unzip the IMG? Can you share the zip file you used and post it's MD5?

Dual boot setup.
Does this copy all partitions on the emmc or just the first boot partitions? I have dual boot setup with stock on the second boot. If I could just copy the whole setup to an sd card it would be pretty slick. Thanks for your hard work.

[Guide] Recover Lost recovery files from SD card

I recently started trying out Custom ROM's extensively and at one point lost all my clockworkmod recovery files from my SD card. Terrifying as it was to start all over again, I didnt give up hope and looked around in the xda forums and here are the collaborated instructions
I assume that to your good fortune, the files are only LOST i.e not deleted by you accidentally. When this happens, android puts them in a folder called LOST.DIR on your SD card. Ensure you keep these files intact!!!
I also assume that you are using clockworkmod recovery.
Step 0:
I recommend to do all this on your PC unless stated so otherwise... I used a micro-SD to SD adapter to read the card in my laptop..
Step 1:
Your recovery files are in the LOST.DIR directory somewhere. Unfortunately the filenames are now (seemingly) random numbers. Your first Job is to find out which file is which. The way I took is to use a free file recovery software like RECUVA . Use this tool to run a "deep scan" on your SD Card. Once Complete, It will show you a list of "recoverable" and "unrecoverable" files. Dont pay any attn to the status. Look in the "PATH" column of the lost file. The files of interest are in the "G:\Clockworkmod\backup\" path(My SD card is drive G)
For each rom backup that you had created there should be a directory with 5 files(look in the "PATH" Column)
System.img
Data.img
Cache.img
.android_secure.img
nandroid.md5
Step 2:
Recuva tells you that each of these files are unrecoverable as they have been overwritten by a file in the LOST.DIR directory in the comments Column. Look at the corresponding file name against each of the above 5 files for the ROM Backup that you want to recover. Copy these 5 files to a seperate directory on your PC. (For our guide we will call this Directory "RecoveredBackup". You are free to call it whatever you want. Just remember..no spaces in the directory name. There's a good reason for this)
Step 3:
Rename the corresponding random-numbered-file to the correct name (example system.img)
Step 4:
The chances that the Nandroid.md5 is recovered correctly are very LOW. There is a way around this first Create a Directory called "clockworkmod" (without quotes) in your SD card. Inside this directory create another directory "backup".
copy the directory from the above step "RecoveredBackup" into this backup folder.
Step 4:
Regenerating the md5. Insert your SD card back to your Phone and open any "shell" (like terminal emulator)
Type su in the terminal and press enter. Allow superuser access if prompted.
Regenerate your md5 by following THESE steps.
(Thanks to ihtfp69 for this) (remember..in our case instead of "2010-06-29.20.22.53" in the post, we use "RecoveredBackup"
Step 5:
Ready to go!!! Now reboot back into recovery and restore your ROM as usual!
Step 6:
Breathe a sigh of Relief if it worked
Repeat if you have more than one backup to recover.
Disclaimer: This SHOULD work. This doesnt mean it WILL. give it a go... but don blame me if it doesnt work / your girlfriend breaks up with you / Judgement day arrives.....

You can also recover deleted files from Harddisk and Memory Card with the help of another efficient data recovery software. i will suggest you to use "Kernel for FAT and NTFS" file recovery software for the same purpose. It recovers data after accidental delete (shift+delete) / format from hard drive, memory card, flash drive etc instantly. It has a user friendly interface through which you can preview the lost data in scan mode in RED color and then gave you the choice to save all at once or some selective files to your location.

i accidently deleted rom-slot 1 on safestrap for my razr and it worked like a charm, i used the data recovery to match the sizes up to a name and put them back in the proper directory, now im back on my main rom! thanks man! :laugh:

You can not only recovery photo,video,but also recovery iphone and android lost data.

The simple delete command on most cameras just marks the space on a memory card as being available for use rather than overwriting the actual space on the card. As long as you don't record anything new onto the card, previously deleted photos should be relatively easy to recover using a file recovery utility.
You should even be able to recover photos from a reformatted memory card as long as you used a standard format command rather than a low-level format. (A low-level format not only deletes all the data on the card, but it also recreates the directories and folder structure of the card, rendering previously deleted files unrecoverable.)

Not on this device, but principle is the same: if I copied the lost.dir folder to my computer, and then ran recuva, would the files still be recoverable? Or is the whole point that it has to be on the original destination?

If they havent been mentioned... here are devices I have had tested and don't see on the first post:
1) the LG Optimus "S" works, I think specs are almost, if not exactly, identical to the Optimus V - now as far as lag goes, it is far from a good performance device...
2) the Sony Xperia "Arc" works...and pretty good I understand...
3) Samsung Galaxy Ace works well...
4) HTC Evo Shift 4G... works good.
5) LG "My Touch" works...
6) Kyocera Milano lags it up on anything remotely intensive, but works!

It's easy to follow and works well for me.

My problem is a litttle bir complicated...
I organized all my pictures in my N9005(phone memory) then i replaced those to SD card. At this time some of those organized folders turned into empty folders and videos, picturec etc. moved to LOST.DIR folder and named numerically. After then i tried to recover via RECUVA, STELLAR PHOENIX and ACTIVE FILE RECOVERY PRO. But i couldn't recover all lost files except a few . And video players and picture viewers say that those few recovered files are corrupted. After i read the threads in forums, recovers are successful but mine is not, i think about the replacing the files from phone memory to sd card caused the problem. Is there anybody to help me for solving recovery problem and making any comment about my thought?(replacing from phone to SD card)

Need help flashing ROM

I've followed the post by xboarder56. My phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. I did not receive any errors when running the command: Fastboot flash boot [boot.img path]. I attempted to use QuikSense and BeastMod. I am using windows, but have access to linux if necessary (would prefer to finish this in windows though).
I believe the problem might be that I do not have an sdcard. Also, I did not see any directions relating to copying files TO the phone, and as such did not. Does loading the boot.img load these files onto the phone or is this something that I need to be doing (also, how do you do that? Guessing I will need linux for that since I don't have an sdcard and will need to write to the device while windows can't read it).

Let's backtrack.
What recovery do you have currently?
Stock, xboarders recovery (identifiable with the X in the background) or the CWM Recovery?
What files did you put and where did you put them?
Name the files you downloaded them and where you put them (external sdcard, internal sdcard, in a folder, etc)
Are you able to flash anything?
Did you format your sdcard from the phone?
So yeah... answer those for us please.
If the files are on the root of your INTERNAL SDCARD then you need xboarder's recovery.
If the files are on the root of your EXTERNAL SDCARD then you need the standard clockwork recovery (download from ROM Manager)

[Guide] SD Partition for Encryption Unsuccessful (ICS Bug)

THIS GUIDE IS ONLY FOR ICS USERS WHO HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL SCREEN ON THEIR PHONE. If you have no idea what the ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL screen is disregard this guide.
First and foremost I would like to thank and give credit to 'cgugino' for his guide over at the Captivate forums. Thanks to tabthelab and Woodrube for their helpful advice and guidence.

This is a similar guide if not identical to his guide for "fixing" the Encryption Unsuccessful bug that occurs in certain ICS roms (DocMasters V5 confirmed). Not sure about other ICS roms.Here is a screenshot of the "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen that will eventually appear on your ICS rom.

If you have already selected reset phone well don't panic just proceed. It will not make a difference regardless.
Note: If you still have access to CWM not stock recovery proceed to step 6 and create your new partition. But REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR SD CARD AS IT WILL BE WIPED COMPLETELY. Do this by going under 'mounts and storage' > 'mount /emmc' or 'mount usb storage' in CWM
DO THIS GUIDE ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY FLASHED BACK TO STOCK JFD THROUGH ODIN OR IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS TO CWM. OTHERWISE READ THE NOTE ABOVE
WITH THAT BEING SAID THIS GUIDE DOES NOT FIX THE BUG. IT IS A WORKAROUND TO CREATE A PARTITION ON YOUR SD CARD TO BE ABLE TO USE YOUR "BRICKED" PHONE AGAIN
So lets begin:
Tools/Files Needed
-ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) and Android SDK must be set up on your PC.
Here is a guide that shows how to setup ADB and SDK with the necessary drivers:

-You need the latest ODIN 1.7 or whatever the latest version is along with the .pit file found here:

-Download this froyo .tar and extract it to the same directory where you have odin.

-Download CWM from here:

-Download any ICS rom Yes an ICS rom. You will use later to flash in CWM.
-You need a microSD card 8gb or larger which you will use to create the partition.
Thats it I think.
Here are the steps:
1. Enter download mode. Remove your battery/Then insert your battery/ hold both Volume Up and Down rocker and plug in your usb cable. You should now see the yellow android dude and it should say "Downloading".
2. Open odin and select the .pit file along with the froyo .tar file you've downloaded from above. Make sure "Re-Partition" is checked under options in odin. Click start and patiently wait for the process to be completed. DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE YET
Once odin finishes wait till the phone boots up with the new froyo rom youve just flashed.
3. Once your phone boots up and is setup copy CWM update.zip to the root of your external SD card. Do this by selecting the "mount usb storage" option in the notification bar.
Or
You can also copy the update.zip using a sd card adapter (only if your pc has an sd card reader).
You can use another phone or device which has a micro sd card slot. Just insert the sd card and plug in that phone via usb and copy update.zip.
You can also use adb to copy the update.zip.
adb remount
adb push update.zip /mnt/emmc
You must have the update.zip in the "platform-tools" folder in the android-sdk before executing the commands above.
4. BACKUP YOUR EXTERNAL SD CARD WHILE YOU CAN. IT WILL BE ERASED WHEN CREATING THE NEW PARTITION
5. Unplug your phone. Enter recovery mode using the 3 button combo or through adb using the following command: adb reboot recovery
Hit reinstall packages in recovery if CWM is not set yet. It will eventually install just keep clicking reinstall packages.
6. Once your are in CWM create the partition by going to 'advanced' > 'Partition SD Card' > Choose your data partition size 2gb is fine > Swap size 0M > You will get an error but just ignore it.
WAIT WAIT and WAIT it will take more than 5mins to create the partition. Just be patient it will eventually finish.
7. Connect your phone and while still in CWM mount your "USB Storage" under 'mounts and storage' > 'Mount USB Storage'. Then copy your ICS rom along with the update.zip (just incase) to flash. Don't flash update.zip though just keep it on your sd for future use.
8. Now while still in CWM umount your USB Storage. Go Back and select Wipe data factory rest / clear cache. Then install the ICS rom you've downloaded and flash it. (I used ICS Passion v13) Again be patient and wait till it finishes flashing and ignore any errors.
9. Once it has finished flashing it will eventually reboot. Or select 'reboot system now' in CWM if it already hasn't. Now this part you will have to be extremely patient. It may take up to 10mins or more to boot up. Once finished just set up your system using the setup wizard on your phone if there is one.
10. Check to see if your new partition has been successfully created by going to: Settings/Storage. You may see that your new partition is still 'unavailable' or it may say something like 00 for available storage. Don't worry just proceed to the next step.
11. Now to see if your partition is mounted properly. (Most likely not)Open the camera app and check to see if you get a message saying "Insert an SD card before using the camera." or something along those lines. If you get this message proceed to the following step. If not well you are lucky And you are now finished.
12. Now get ready to use adb so make sure adb debugging is enabled in Settings/Developer Options/ Android debugging [checked]
Open a command prompt on your pc in directory in which you installed your android sdk package. It should be something like this
C:\android-sdk\platform-tools
While in the platform-tools folder click on a blank space and Hold the SHIFT key + RIGHT CLICK > and select 'Open Command Window Here'. Now a command window should show up. If it doesnt show up well you didnt set up the SDK package properly go back to the guide which i suggested and make sure you have it set up properly or else you will not be able to issue commands.
13. With the command window open and your phone plugged in. Enter these commands to swap your external sdcard with your internal storage. This is the part where you will now use your new partition as your primary storage or internal storage.
Type in the following code into the command window or copy and paste it (easier) Remember to press the enter key after every command:
1) adb devices "This is to check if your device is properly attached"
2) adb remount "This is to check if your device is properly mounted"
3) adb pull /system/etc/vold.fstab "This will copy the vold.fstab file to the platform-tools folder on your PC."
3a) Now open the vold.fstab file you've just copied to your PC located in platform-tools. Right click vold.fstab and open it with notepad for editing.
Or you can also use a root explorer type of app on your phone
to edit the vold.fstab file. This might be the easier option. Just
remember to reboot your phone after editing the file.
3b) With the vold.fstab file open in notepad edit the following lines:
(They should be at the very end of the file and look something like this)
Line 1:
internal sdcarddev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 1 /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.0/mmc_host/mmc0#
Replace both instances of sdcard with emmc
Line 2:
external sdcarddev_mount emmc /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc2
Replace both instances of emmc with sdcard
Now that you have finished editing vold.fstab save the file close it and proceed to the next step.
3c) Now copy the edited vold.fstab file to your new partition by using the following commands:
adb remount "Followed by"
adb push vold.fstab /system/etc/vold.fstab "The file should now be overwritten."
REBOOT YOUR PHONE IF YOU DON'T GET ANY ERRORS WHEN EXECUTING THE COMMAND ABOVE.
(READ BELOW "IN RED" BEFORE REBOOTING IF YOU GET AN ERROR IN THE COMMAND WINDOW)
YOU ARE NOW FINISHED. AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE YOUR PHONE AGAIN WITH THE NEW PARTITION MOUNTED PROPERLY
IF YOU GET AN ERROR IN THE COMMAND WINDOW saying permission denied or something enter the following commands.
adb push vold.fstab /emmc/vold.fstab
adb shell
su
mount -o remount rw /system
cp /emmc/vold.fstab /system/etc/vold.fstab
chmod 644 /system/etc/vold.fstab
mount -o remount ro /system
exit
exit
adb reboot "This command will reboot your device so don't panic."
Once you have entered the commands above. Your phone will reboot. And the new vold.fstab file will be programmed to mount your new partition as your primary storage. And you should be finished by now. Now to test it open the camera app once again and see if you get any error messages. If so repeat step(s) 13. Otherwise You should now see that you have 1.88gb internal storage for apps etc and about 13 gb for the user (Assuming you have a 16gb) It should look something like this:

YOUR ARE NOW FINISHED AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE YOUR PHONE ONCE AGAIN. DOWNLOAD AN APP FROM THE MARKET TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WENT WELL. ALSO MOUNT YOUR PHONE TO YOUR PC TO SEE IF THE NEW PARTITION IS BEING RECOGNIZED.
Notes:
-Those of you who are new to ADB remember to hit enter after every command. dont just copy and paste all of them and expect them to work.
-You must perform step(s) 13 everytime after flashing a new rom. Reason for this is because the new vold.fstab file in the new rom will overwrite the old one you have edited in step 13. So keep that in mind.
-I have only tried this with the latest build of ICS Passion v13. It may work for other ICS roms aswell but i cannot confirm. I have tried it with a froyo rom but was unable to successfully mount the new partition. As for GB roms well you are going to have to try that your self. All you have to do is edit the vold.fstab file (Step 13) they should be identical if not similar.
-You can also edit the vold.fstab file using "Root explorer" app on your phone if you have it.
-Remember you no longer have access to your old internal memory since it is gone and I don't know what happened to it. SO SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR OLD INTERNAL STORAGE.
-Do not remove your SD CARD while your phone is on. It contains all of your system files and will probably make your phone blow up if you do so.
-If you haven't already flashed back to stock 2.1 and still have access to CWM you can skip to step 6 and create the partition from there. But remember to BACKUP YOUR SD CARD because it will be wiped.
I haven't tried this method but i assume it will work the same. Give it a try and let me know what happens

Yes... Once you've completed this guide your EXTERNAL SD CARD will then act as the INTERNAL SD CARD that was previously there prior to the bug. So in other words your sdcard will be your primary storage for the OS and other things such as music photos apps etc.

This also means that if you ever want to swap out any SD card, you will have to repartition your new one to fit exactly the same "smaller" partition and also find some program that will be able to pull your data from your 2g partition, save it to your desktop and then copy it over to your new partition on your new card. Or you may have to reflash whatever ROM you are wanting/restoring from scratch. You are new essentially SDcard branded to your phone.
My old phone had 2.1 with no upgrade EVER from the manufacturer. So me and a few others began building/kanging 2.2 and with 2.2's ability of app2sd we had to figure out a way to do that for it to work. Long story short, with a few init hijacks at boot and some ADB we were able to get apps to install directly to a partition that we created on our SD cards. Went from 170mb internal to "you pick the size" partition on the external. I still have that phone and do some dev-ing on it and have brought a 2.1 all the way to CM9.
If anyone needs help with the partitioning, just ask. Also, 2gb is the standard but 2gb is a ton of space. Figure that your biggest app is going to be around 20-30mb executable. 1gb is 1024mb, you can do the math but it is also your call.

Problemo
So, this guide is great, but one of the initial problems was connecting to my SD card, when I plug in via usb my computer doesn't even recognize I plugged in. How am I to get the "update.zip" and the CFW on to it? also, when I use Clockwork, I can't seem to make my partition work... I've done it many many times, but nothing. it's almost like it doesn't even work... I just have the standard 2gb micro SD, so I make a partition of 1024mb. But it doesn't seem to work.

Try using the sd card adapter that came with your phone to copy the update.zip. That's if your computer has an sd card slot. Or simply use another phone to copy it by inserting the sd into that phone and plugging in the usb cable.
Right when you finish flashing the 2.2 .tar it should mount properly to your pc. Just select usb storage from the notification bar.

I'm getting the same problem as him. and when i flash the 2.2 tar, it goes straight to stock recovery. it doesn't boot up android. even in cwm, my phone instantly "partitions" the sd card. and it only has a 1024mb option. no 2gb. And when you press mount usb, it does nothing at all. my computer shows two devices that haven't been mounted. Any ideas? i've been trying to fix this phone for almost a week straight and nothing works....
EDIT:I have no idea what just happened but i rebooted a few times and its starting to boot up.

Okay, so I figured out how to fix the problem with the partitioning. If you are able to install a zip file from recovery, install the ICS Passion kernel with CWM 5.x.x.x http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33572867/ICS_Passion_v13_cleanup.zip
You might have to rename it to update.zip but I think it should work for everyone. From there reboot recovery into the new kernel CWM. Now when you try to partition the sd card, it should take a long time and it should work.

Your mistake sorry. The only reason why I suggested using another phone was to simply copy CWM while having the already partitioned sd card in your lady's phone. Now i don't why you decided to create the partition on your lady's phone a second time...this was obviously going to wipe the internal memory since it is still intact.

Try this
For those of you having trouble copying CWM to the sd card try the following commands. You can execute these commands through stock recovery or with the phone already set up and going. Just remember you must have usb debugging enabled on your phone.
check to see if the phone is mounted: adb devices
now copy CWM to your sdcard: adb push update.zip /emmc/update.zip Just make sure that CWM is named
update.zip
To be honest the easiest way to copy CWM to your sd card is to use another phone or device which has a microsd card slot. Or if your computer happens to have sdcard slot simply use an sdcard adapter and copy CWM.

So, I've done nearly everything I can even think of. I got the ICS installed but I keep getting the "power reset" or "unknown upload mode" now. I swear.... haha.

did you get the sd card partitioned? if so, odin back to froyo eugenes rom, install cwm, factory reset, wipe cache, and reinstall the passion 13 rom. I had the same problem and i think thats what i did to fix it.

what i did was that i flashed the ICS Kiss kernel that i linked on page one of this thread. And from there i was able to partition the sd card no problem. After i partitioned it, i had to redo everything from step 1 except i skip the partitioning. If i don't redo those steps, the rom gives me an error for some reason.

[SOLVED] Nook Tablet 8GB SD Recovery 6.x.x

I don't normally do this I just lurk around for my questions but this time I really give up. I have done plenty of work with 16 gb stuff, but never 8 GB nook, trying to install CM 10.2 on a friend's 8GB Tablet, the issue is I cannot seem to find an img for clockworkmod I can just burn to an SD card, lavero.burgos guide requires CWM to already be installed into the internal recovery, but what if I take a clean nook out of the box, are there no CWM images I can burn straight to the SD version 6.x.x and after?
The other method seems to be the one where you create the partitions manually. Which is fine and all, and my device is obviously doing something, but it locks up on the cattonbox and doesn't continue on to CWM. Things I have tried:
1. putting in MLO first after freshly creating 0x0c partition (yes its active) and then the other files for custom SD-recovery
2. replacing the recovery in lavero burgos zip with the cwm_6012.img file, renaming it recovery.img
3. also tried renaming the file instead to boot.img that some guy recommended
4. have tried another sd, rinse, repeat
All the "SD" burnable images are either invalid, or have no partition information. The custom SD method has some sort of issue. I do plug in the cable. The problem isn't getting it to recognize the SD card as a bootable media, the problem is getting to go into CWM, I'm all out of wit, it's been two days man, basically:

EDIT: Just tried cwm_6033.img; no dice. These images are supposed to be 8GB Friendly I believe. I don't understand what gives
