[Q] Touch off miserably - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was on 1.2.6 and decided that it was time to update to 1.5.7 since GingerBlur was out. I went back and decided to go to 1.2.6 SBF reflash to root, to 1.5.7 update, to root. Then I install the recovery ROM. Booted into there, made a backup on my SD card, changed my internal SD card (for Ubtunu, is that where it went wrong, had my SD card in and I think it was mounted). I exited the recovery adn was greeted with "Failed to boot 1. Launching RDS mode". I went into RDS and reflashed to 1.2.6. It did it's business and came back, but when I set up my motorblur, I realized something was off. The touchscreen was literally off by about 4-5CM. Click next required me to hit my search key, OFF the screen. If I was typing on the screen, I would have to go below that letter. The back key no longer works since it acts like a 'screen' touch if you will.
What's going on?! Already tried another reflash 1.2.6 again. Going to try 1.5.6.
If it doesn't work, I'm just going to take it back to AT&T and get it exchanged.

I was just about to start a new thread for this EXACT same problem...if anyone can help it would be great. I tried data wipe through android recovery mode but it didn't help. I was going to try to format the internal sd card but other than that i've got no idea. Anyone?

Did either of you try re-flashing? If it started with a flash first step to fixing is re-flashing.
Dennis's troubleshooting guide
1) ensure the gripe is a gripe
2) step back two steps and redo what you just did.
3) remove any mods and try again
4) verify on another device that it is/is not reproducable.
5) read the manual (not applicable to troubleshooting hardware on maany phones, though ifixit has some good guides)
6) take it to an expert.

Reflashing is a no go...same problem
Edit: Okay...was able to re-install Tenfar's CWM. Going to try to format my internal SD and wipe everything, then reflash. I'll update with results...

No go...still the same problem. Also tried formatting the internal memory through the Settings app...didn't help. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Anyone? The phone is pretty much unusable in this state...would really appreciate any input

Just an idea... have you tried:
1) Flashing 1.2.6, pre-root, 1.5.7, post-root
2) Installing Tenfar (not sure how, with your screen like that, maybe there is a shell command that lets you install via adb)
3) Using Tenfar to clear pretty much EVERYTHING (i.e., re-format, clear caches, all that jazz)
4) Re-do step 1

Well, an update: Went to the ATT store and got it exchanged. I'm pretty sure they really don't like me anymore. Haha.
As for the fix chbeaesrock posted, if he were to make a mistake he has to restate his device since he has no home button.

[RECOVERY][ZIP] Nook Color Restore to stock

FLASHABLE ZIP, (1)RESTORING NC TO STOCK/FACTORY OR (2)CWR REMOVAL ONLY
What you will find here: files to restore to stock (v. 1.0.0 or 1.0.1) and files to remove CWR and thus restore stock recovery (8 failed boots and factory reset [power+n]).
______________CAVEAT________________
Keep in mind that the Nook is really hard to brick. By that, I mean almost impossible. The reason is simple: it has a boot priority on uSD, which means you can always boot your NC from the uSD with, for example, Nookie Froyo (see thread in Dev section). From there you can install Clockwork recovery and other applications (ibid) and repair almost anything. So please, don't panic.
If you ask for help, explain yourself exhaustively on what you have done to require attention. Thank you.
All the usual warnings apply. I cannot guarantee that the following won't have side effects, although I'm pretty sure it won't. Please read complete thread before attempting anything.
Do not attempt flashing files unless you really need to or absolutely know what you are doing.
____________________________
______________UPDATE-01/23/2011_______________
There is another method to restore to stock. If you know your way around ADB, please read this thread: click here, as it will guarantee a clean restoring of your partition. The below files only copy files, but cannot "recreate" your partitions. Both methods can work, but the one linked above (shad0wf0x's thread) will work without exception. Only requirement is that you can use ADB. Thank you.
_______________________________________________
I know a few people out there are struggling after having messed up their Nook's partitions (boot, system, etc.). Hope this will help.
Requirements:
- Rom manager / Clockwork Recovery. This can be easily installed through Nookie Froyo booted from uSD, or through rooted NC. See Clockwork Recovery thread for more information.- A uSD with enough free space (at least 175 MB). Make sure uSD is mounted (see mounts option in Clockwork Recovery). If it doesn't read your uSD, format from an Android device (Memory settings, unmount-> format).
Files to restore NC to stock (1):
If AND ONLY if you choose to restore completely your NC, /data and /system partitions must be formatted before flashing. See mounts and storage option in CWR.
LINKS ARE DOWN: please refer to the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22809801&postcount=148
BEWARE: These files will reset you Nook Color to stock and remove Clockwork Recovery, by replacing /boot, /system, and /media with stock
If you choose to flash one of the two files above, formating /data and /system is required BEFORE flashing the file (see mounts and storage in CWR) ! After flashing, resets (8 failed and power+n) shouldn't be necessary, everything should work straight "out of the box" after flashing the file.
Or,
File to remove CWR and restore stock recovery (2):
If you simply wish to remove CW Recovery, use this file, which restores /boot only:
EDIT: files are not available anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Size: 6.1MB, md5sum: 6d00a461a221e69195440355f6706104
Note that this last file will affect your rooting of the NC.
If you should choose to keep your NC rooted, try this:
EDIT: files are not available anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Keep in mind this last file has not been tested on my NC. It's necessarily less dangerous than the other files (which already aren't very dangerous). But still, please give me some feedback on whether it works or not. Cheers.
5. As a last attempt to fixing your NC, if your nook never gets passed the "Touch the future screen" or simply doesn't boot, try this file:
EDIT: files are not available anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.

quick question, if we removed cwrecovery then will the 8 boot reset work again?
Yes, it will. That's the point.
beautiful! Thats just what i wanted, thanks alot man
Thank you. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to check out the B & N 2.2 update coming out soon. It worked great. After flashing I had to factory reset the data (three finger salute) and everything worked out great. Now I'm in the process of installing the 1.0.1 update and then will probably go back to where I was before (autonooter with clockwork recovery). I have a nandroid backup and titanium backup of everything so won't take long. Thanks again. Great job!
Tried out method 2. Looks like i have a corrupted recovery now It wont go past the "Touch the future of reading" and when i do the 2 button salute it brings me to a screen that says the install failed
EDIT: Nvm. just magically worked again.
Edit 2: I used the 2nd method and it wasn't smooth sailing. I'm gonna relate what happened and what I did so that samuelhaff can help others if they have the same problem:
I originally auto-nookered the device and then installed CWR. I foolishly tried to do the 8 hard resets and was met with the recovery screen. I also foolishly wiped the data and cache hoping that would do the trick and alas it just left me with a "touch the android" homescreen that didn't work.
At this point I used the second method after I tried froyo and when I reset the nook the nook it would get stuck at the the "Touch the future of reading." So to fix it i tried to get into recovery by holding the N button and the power button and it showed me a screen that said the install failed and then the nook started booting normally again. Not smooth sailing but it worked so thanks a lot!

Thank you for your contribution.
I don't understand why your NC wouldn't boot pass the splash. Will have to see if that happens again.
But on the other hand, I have noticed that the first boot after restoring may show up an "install failed" notice. Which, again I don't understand just yet. But everything should work if you boot a second time.
Anyway, I'll look into it. In the mean time, both files should help quite a few hot-headed nookers, like myself.
If I new you better, I would fall in love with you. Maybe we should take this slowly.

Ok. Which method did you use? (1) or (2)? Before flashing, were you using v. 1.0.0 ou 1.0.1? Try updating to 1.0.1. See if Wifi is working. If not, try method (1) (again?). Do both resets (8 failed and power+n).

boot loops...at my wits end!

So I am just about at my wits end. I am fairly computer literate but an absolute noob when it comes to my gtab and flashing it.
I’ll try and give a step by step.
1. Got my Gtab today. I was sooooo excited!
2. Installed CWM and the latest TNT lite ROM.
3. All is well everything worked great.
4. Started up Android market…all hell starts breaking loose with “forced closes”.
5. Ok…so I shut down and restart
6. It starts what I have learned is called a “boot loop” going from the birds to the “G Tablet” screen to black to the birds…
7. I try to reflash TNT…nothin’.
8. I try NVflash, it *says* it completed successfully, but stays in the boot loop.
9. I’ve tried copying the CWM onto the microsd card (yes, command is pointing to the micro card). I then go through the Hold down the plus and start.
10. CWM *seems* to install, then HEY…right back into the boot loop.
11. I try something else and get (in little red text in the top left corner of the screen) something about “Magic” something missing.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I am a smart guy…I can read. The thing is, is that it seems like the mods and the CWM’s are completing successfully, but then I am right back in the flippin’ boot loop. I am afraid I’ve just wasted $300.
Sorry to be the dumb noob.
Pat
Did you change the partition when you installed the new rom? That was what fixed mine.
No...none of the instructions I saw mentioned that. Now I am seeing using CWM to do it but the problem is I can't get CWM to load!
if CWM is installed, you just need to hold V+ and power button when restarting. if not (and this happened to me) you should follow the instructions that were given to me by regalpimpin on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025128 to install CWM, and re partition (you will loose all the data on your internal SD card so be sure to back up) but repartition at 2048 and 0 unless the ROM specifically asks for a different partition.
You need to nvflash if you are getting the magic value mismatch. You could have gotten out of the boot loop originally by repartitioning. Only use bekit 0.8 recovery as any others will bork your tab. Dont use rom manager either.
mocheesehead,
First don't panic. We can fix this. It's REALLY hard to brick
a G-Tablet!
You have done all the right things from what you have written.
As Lisa said the one thing you haven't done is re-partition and
it seems that re-partitioning fixes boot loops most of the time.
Double check. Use your microSD with the CWM update.zip on it.
Since the command file is erased when you use it, you will need
to copy a new copy of the command file edited for /SDCARD2 back
into the recovery folder. Boot into recovery with power/volume +.
When all is finished shut down properly. The reboot as above and
see if you get CWM.
If you don't, you will have to try to load CWM by nvflash. If you
will try the above again, I will see if I can find directions for CWM
by nvflash. I know the process but will have to find the correct
command line.
*************
Just in case CWM loads: I will go ahead put the fix process here:
1. When CWM starts, go to the Advanced Menu and run the
Partition SDCARD, Fix Permissions, and Wipe Dalvik Cache options.
The re-partition takes a few minutes so
don't panic! Then go back to the Main Menu and Wipe Cache
and Wipe/Reset Factory Settings.
2. Once that is done, reboot and hopefully you will be fixed.
3. If not fixed, nvflash back to stock as per the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
Makes everything -- especially the files to load -- is correct.
Keep us posted on how you do. Meanwhile I will look for the
other procedure and post it.
Rev
Hi Lisa! Yes! That sounds like my problem. I'll give it a go.
Quick question...is there a preferred format (ie, FAT32, etc) for the micro SD card?
I'll let you know how it turns out!

Thanks to everyone for the kind and informative responses. I probably won't get to a fix til Monday morning I as I have a soccer tourney (kids) all weekend, but I'll report back when I know something!
Thanks again,

As everybody said, it is almost brick proof, as long as you follow the correct procedures. Some people don't seem to understand missing one step can make things worse. Most of these post give you step by step instructions and by finding the right one to read you can't go wrong. I'm sure you will eventually have it worked out, learning what does what and why you did that will be a big help in the long run.
Ok! So I think I am breathing again! I partitioned the card and got back to the stock UI...man...it does really blow! So, a couple of questions...
1. I flashed TNT lite, and had force close issues. Would you recommend Vegan?
2. Now that I partitioned the card 2048 and 0 like everyone said, do I need to do this again before or after I flash a new rom?
Again, thanks for everyone's kind responses!
Pat
Glad to hear you made back to stock. Here in a bit I will write a step by step how to upgrade to TNTL 4.40 for you if some one doesn't beat me to it.
Thanks JH! I look forward to giving it another go! I appreciate your help!
Pat
Pat,
Remember that the bekit 1105 is about the oldest stock UI that exists!!! Most of us
started with 2967 on our first G-Tablets.
It WAS bad and there was no Flash and no replacement kernal and TnT was at about 2.x and VEGAn was at about .beta 3.
On the other hand, we didn't miss a lot of it because we were trying to keep them
running and find out what they would do and find apps we liked!!!
When I run the latest software I just can't believe how lucky we are.....IMHO.

[Q] Unable to install ROM

Not the first post a noob really wants to make...but I've been searching the forums for an answer to my problem, but can't seem to find the info on the issue I'm having. I've seen some that were close & tried what was posted there without any success. I've checked out the Don't Panic -- Please Read First, includes troubleshooting guide Thread By: om4
A few days ago, I tried to install CM10 on my 4G LTE w/S-ON / HBOOT- 1.19. I was able to unlock the bootloader & install TWRP. Everything seemed to go okay until I rebooted my phone after installing CM10. It just hung on the Cyanogenmod splash screen. I tried re-installing it & kept getting the same problem. Today, I tried to install MeanROM ICS v6.5, but it keeps saying install failed. If I let the phone boot up, it'll hang on the MeanRom splash screen. I can still get into fastboot so I know it has to be a software issue. I've been beating my head against the wall for the past few days & just don't know how to fix it. Right now I have a very expensive paperweight. I'm hoping someone can help me fix this & get my phone back up & running.
TIA
for the millionth time
flash the boot.img seperately in hboot
Get (Flash Image GUI) off the Play Store.
If yr S-ON then u have to flash the kernel separate. That's why the ROM's keep hanging.

It's the only option I have now, so I hope I can figure it out. Wish me luck. I know it's probably something stupid that I'm missing & it's driving me crazy. lol
For meanrom make sure you have twrp 2.2.2.0 or later to be able install. The kernel installer will force the phone to reboot upon first run, this is when the kernel installs. For cm10 or other aosp based roms be sure to properly wipe phone. Cache, dalvik, factory reset, and system. Fastboot the kernel using SDK, mini SDK, uniflash, or boot image flasher. Do not use clockwork mod recovery to install roms as it is known to damage internel storage and or misc partitions.

Thanks for all the info!!! I'm glad I found this place!!! I was able to get my phone working again. I found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937949 from back in October and found out that I was putting the boot.img in the wrong location. Once I fixed that, I have my phone back. Now I have to get it re-activated because I had to switch back to my Hero because I wasn't sure how long this would take. I hope Sprint will activate it even though is not stock anymore.

Well now I have another small problem. When I try to use the camera or go into gallery, it says no external storage available. Looks like I'm off to search the forums again for a fix. I'm sure it's something minor.
It looks like it's the internal SD card. Under storage in settings it shows the external card's total space & the 3 GBs used for app data, ect...
When I try and mount the SD card, it says preparing card but doesn't do anything. I think I say something about changing something in TWRP.
Forgot to mention, I can't connect the phone via USB either.
Ha, fixed my SD card/USB issues by following the directions in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812774

[Q] Unexpected Brick

About a month ago I rooted a HTC EVO 4G LTE, installed the recovery with touch screen and Cyanogenmod nighties.
It worked great, including tethering on Sprint.
Last week an update to latest Cyanogenmod was made. Phone worked normally, until today when screen stopped responding completely (physical buttons were working), including after rebooting. On a second reboot phone was stuck on a boot loop.
Went into bootloader mode and tried to go to recovery. It would boot loop again. Noted that it said UNLOCKED S-ON (I thought it was supposed to be S-OFF). I tried flashing the boot.img from latest Cyanogenmod. Nothing. Tried reseting from the menu. Tried more things. Nothing worked. So I downloaded and used the latest version of RUU after fastboot oem lock. RUU was successful (no error, phone no longer displays HTC developer message), however it's still stuck on the boot loop. I thought RUU would restore it completely.
What am I missing?
Read here

And here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097150
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=SG3
I followed the instructions.
Then I tried all RUU that I had and always got Error 140.
Finally, found in a rooting pack RUU_JEWEL_CL_JB_45_S_Sprint_WWE_3.15.651.16_Radio_1.12.11.1119_NV_2.87_003_25007_release_299302_signed.exe which worked to restore.
However, the phone is still in the same state. What do I do?
How long did you give the phone to boot.? Also did you flash the firmware zip after you relocked your boot loader?
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=SG3
Phone is RELOCKED.
What I did:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash zip jewel_jb_ota_firmware.zip
Then used that RUU to restore. After this I left the phone without touching it for about ten minutes, but it keeps restarting (never passes booting stage).
Try this. Remove your sd. Then back up all your data. Then format it threw your PC and return it to factory defaults. Then put it back in your phone and redo the steps. Also were did you get the ruu your using from ?? Also if that fails to work look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045935
And try the firmware zip with the stock recovery. Then run the ruu. Hope this helps.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=SG3
Does it matter if the SD is in?
So, I took out the SD card, repeated those three steps and I should use RUU again.
The RUU is from 3.15_RUU_PLUS_ROOT.zip.
I'm going to try again now with no SD.
Same result after trying without SD card. Also I did flashboot flash zip
Code:
PJ75IMG_3.15.651.6-firmware.zip
from the link you provided without help.

Yes the sd card should be in your phone. Also your trying to go back to stock so using the ruu that's stock with root might be the issue given your phones current state. I'll try and find you just the stock ruu with no root, unless you have one or if you know were one is download it and run it. Also when I posted about the SD card you were only supposed to remove it to "back up your data" and then "format" it. After you have formatted it then place it back into your phone. I'm not aware of any potential issues with running a ruu without the SD card being in the phone, however I would strongly suggest always running the ruu with the SD in the phone. Its what I've always done. Also make sure that your battery is over 75%. And did you flash the one with the stock recovery? There are several firmware zips on that thread but the one with the stock recovery is the one I suggested you try. And I'm not sure what the "without help" post is about. I'll help you as much as I can and I'm sure if I don't reply to you right away that there are more than enough knowledgeable members in this forum to help you as well. Take in mind that phones are so easy to screw up but it might take some time to get it back up and running. But troubleshooting is all part of the process.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=SG3
I'll try it again with the SD card in the phone. No, the RUU I'm using it's in a pack for rooting and updating. I don't think it's modified at all. I don't even think RUU can be altered and signed anyway. I'll search for another RUU again.
Yes, the one that I flashed is
Code:
PJ75IMG - Firmware zip with hBoot and stock recovery (signature intact)
http://d-h.st/sKO (MD5: 0d8f9d65e29c1c824654bf88b9438f15)
and I had enough battery. (It was supposed to be without luck not without help).
So, I'll flash the above mentioned PJ75IMG, then use the RUU (I'll search for one that's in no pack, but I'm confident it's not altered) - all this with the SD card inside.
Thanks for your help.

You can't flash a PJ75IMG.zip unless you are S-OFF and the file you posted above is not an RUU it's just the updated firmware
It didn't work.
So I followed the steps from this link.
After using HTCDev to unlock the phone and I try to open RabiesShot, it reboots the phone but it's not able to connect. Sometimes the phone goes in a loop, sometimes the phone boots (it did boot twice). However, even when it booted, the screen didn't work at all, which is the original problem.
Right now the phone is ON but the only thing that works is the power and volume buttons (screen and soft buttons do not work). I've also noticed the phone reboots alone.
Any ideas left?
(This is my friend's phone. Anyway, I'll convince anyone to stay away from HTC. Nexus is so much better than this...)
Its not the phone its the user. I've never heard of a phone hacking itself. So usually the fault is the owner of the device and not the device itself. And In this case I'd say its user error. Also I'm lost as in what your doing at the moment. I thought you were trying to go back to stock? Now you post says your basically trying to obtain s-off. If this is the case then you make it extremely difficult to try and pin point what's actually the issue with your firends phone because you jump methods. So at this point exactly what are you trying to do ? Are you trying to go back to stock to gain s-off ?? Also if you come here to receive help with your issue you should always try the posted methods first so the member that's helping you is aware of what steps your taking and what your going to do. If not then it becomes difficult to help you.

Not hacked itself, just not working. At least, that's what I've been told. Right now I'm trying to make it stock, but since what you proposed didn't work I tried different things such as obtaining S-OFF (no success).
The comment regarding HTC wasn't necessarily related to this case but in general. Just look how miserably is the process to just obtain root and unlock the bootloader. And in many cases is not even possible until some exploit is found. Why...? HTC used to be great.
I'm just trying to get this phone work again. Initial idea was to go stock, since it seems logical that it should be straight forward.
So I tried everything you have posted, including the last instructions you left me (backup everything off SD, deleted everything and inserted SD in the phone, then repeated the process).
Thanks for your help.
I understand your frustration about the issues with the phone in its current state. However if done correctly gaining root/s-off can be achieved in less that an hour. I do realize the fact that even if guides are followed to the exact directions that issues still occur. But that's the risk you take when you modify you phone. Your aware of this I'm sure. However that's why xda is a great website. Not only can you get the software to modify your phone, you can also get help in case the process didn't go the way it should have. You can't dispute the fact that there are more than a few members with the evo-lte who had no problems at all with gaining root or s-off. As far as the steps I suggested there was no guarantee that they would work its just the process of trouble shooting to see what will work. If you don't mind can you post the exacts steps you took before you tried to achieve s-off ? Also can you post the links to the exact ruu and firmware you last used as well.? Also if the phone is on try powering it down and attempt to boot into the boot loader. If your successful then try factory reset.

Huawei Ascend P2 probems

OK. So. I've been encountering nothing but problems since I received my Huawei Ascend P2 phone.
To begin with -
I bought the phone for the sole purpose of it being 4G/LTE. When I got it, I couldn't figure out how to get it, so I contacted Three and was told that my phone had to be 4.3 - it was running 4.1.2.
When I tried to get 4.3 through whatever means, it stopped working.
I tried to do a complete factory reset and now I'm getting many more problems -
I keep getting errors that anything Google related has stopped working (especially Google keyboard).
My contacts won't auto-sync, despite me having my Google account synced up with it.
The icons at the bottom of the screen (back, home, settings/whatever else) won't light up and the home button isn't working.
It's a different loading screen than normal - before it was a Huawei Ascend splash screen, now it just says "Android".
It is not being detected by my laptop whatsoever.
When I try and download anything using a browser, it says "starting download" but nothing works.
So, anyone have a solution? It is driving me demented. And all because I wanted bloody 4G.

I think we need some more info on the attempt to upgrade via whatever means. What steps / guide were you following? Did you install a custom rom? If so, what rom and what recovery are you using? From a few minutes of searching around, it seems that there is no official 4.3 update for the phone, and just being ON 4.3 itself will not automagically enable LTE service as this has much to do with the radio/baseband used as much as the actual operating system and that will not get updated via a custom rom (99.999% of the time unless SPECIFICALLY stated). Seems like they are working on an LTE capable update/patch for 4.1.2 soon according to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50495570&postcount=162 (that post is part of a thread about your phone on a UK carrier so should be pertinent).

Thank you for your reply.
I'll talk you through the steps I took as much as I can.
Firstly I rooted the phone using eRoot, which did work and allowed root access.
I then downloaded P2Tools, which was obtained from this thread and it allowed me to put CWM on it.
Once this was done, I attempted to put CM 10.2 on it, but kept getting a Status 7 error. Some quick Googling later, I discovered this video, which showed how to solve it.
When I followed the steps on there, I kept getting a Status 0 error.
That was when I started to encounter those problems, so I wiped everything I could, even system, but that part failed.
And that's about it.

K. So you are still on the stock rom, rooted, with CWM recovery (which version?), and after you attempted to wipe /system, it failed to wipe (what was the error message there?), and now it boots and has all kinds of weird glitches? First thing to try would be to go back to CWM and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and then Fix Permissions. This MIGHT help. If it doesn't then you will just probably want to throw a stock rom back on there to get back to running right again.

I've wiped the Caches and Dalvik Cache and can't seem to find "Fix Permissions". I did some searching and it seems this feature was removed from CWM? I'm running v6.0.3.7 of CMW.
When I try to format the system, it says
E:format_volume failed to unmount "/system"
Error formatting /system!
Weird, they did take it out. Koush said it was a placebo. Which normally I would take as law, if it weren't for many times I have ran fix permissions and it caused apps that were force closing to not force close anymore. But whatever, if you wanna try, flash this: http://db.tt/9aWdF8Rp. It'll either help fix something, or do nothing. Won't make it any worse. If it can't mount to format though, it's either or a bug with CWM for your device, or after factory reset, reboot recovery and try again. But you really don't want to wipe /system unless you have a nandroid or another rom on your storage that is accessible.
Thanks so much for your help so far. Took me ages to figure out how to get that file on my phone, but I managed to do it. I then installed zip from recovery mode and chose the fix_permissions. Then reboot and it asked me to root the phone again. It's now upgrading and hopefully it will work now.
It is still saying "Unfortunately, Android keyboard has stopped" and other things. What do you reckon I can do now? You're right, it seems like I can't make it any worse.

Ok. So looks like first thing to check is to see WHICH version of the P2 you have because it seems like there are at least 2 different sub versions of it. The P2-6070 and the P2-6011. Please go to Settings / About Phone/Device and let me know all the software info there.
Also, have you unlocked the bootloader (I'm guessing so since you have recovery, but just checking)?
I found some more info on how to get you back up and running, but want to confirm the system version so everything goes as smoothly as possible. There's a new update that just came out not too long ago that people are saying LTE works on, so hopefully we can get you to that point.

Mine is the P2-6011.
Swear if we get this working, never changing anything ever.
Yes, the bootloader is unlocked.
Alright, so here is a link for the newest firmware for your phone :
http://huaweidevices.ru/ROM4221/P2/...R001C00B038CUSTC19D001_United_Kingdom_H3G.rar
Need to be on stock recovery. Unpack the rar file and put the whole folder /dload on the root of the SD card. This has the update.app that should take care of everything for you. Turn off the phone and turn it on by holding Vol + and - and Power together. This is supposed to boot it into the mode to take care of the update for you.
If you don't wanna go back to complete stock, I have another way that involves switching to TWRP recovery and restoring a rom via nandroid restore. If you'd prefer that, lemme know and I'll shoot you the links.

If I ever meet you I definitely owe you a drink. Did exactly as you said and everything (from what I can tell) is working.
It's one of the things I love about Android phones - unless you do some serious damage to it physically, for the most part it is fixable.
So, thanks button isn't enough - you saved me giving up and buying a new phone
*Hi Five* Glad all is well!
But yea, I do this for a living. Seriously. Helping people on here is how I stay sharp. lol
getting a gateway 504 error from link to firmware, would love to get this update working as i keep getting a notification on phone saying update available but it wont work
