Hey all, my girlfriend recently got an Optimus V, and I was trying to set her up with all the fun games she liked from my phone, but after installing 5 apps, the phone already starts complaining that the memory is full. After rooting today, I added some root apps, and again I had a simliar problem that the memory was low.
I've never had this problem since I have a Captivate with 2GB of the 16GB internal memory allocated to phone memory.
Anyways, I was hoping someone could help me with this problem, is there anything we can do besides just using app2sd pro (which doesn't even do all of the apps anyways)?
Again, I rooted her phone, I used SuperOneClick v1.7, should I have modified the recovery and other things like in the Optimus V rooting thread?
Easiest thing to try is to root, get move2SD app and move your games to sd card. There are other options but you need an alternate Rom and an ext3 partition on your sd card

Check out the links here. I've used this cache2cache method and it freed up all sorts of memory. Gives you tons of extra internal memory.

I have a sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. I'm wondering if its possible to move apps to my sd card, because the phone doesn't have a big internal memory. I heard something about having to root the phone, and doing something to the sd card. Could someone guide me through that, or tell me more about it? How will that effect the apps?
Thank you x
BTW, sorry if this is in teh wrong part of the forum, i wasn't sure what section it came under
I am also trying to find out the answer to this question. All i have been able to find out through search is that one has to root the phone and there is probably just one application superone click that allows you to do that currently for X10mini/pro 2.1 version. However once one has rooted through superone click, how do you then transfer all your applications to the SD card and whether its possible or not is my question. Hoping someone answers soon so i can take the risk of rooting.
There is an app that you can get at the market to enable you to transfer apps to SD..
App2SD and Link2SD.. just search on the Market
and also search the forums for these 2 apps, there are dedicated topics for these with more detailed discussions...
I've tried both App2SD and Link2SD along with a few others... none of them install on X10mini/pro runing on v 2.1. They require some sort of partition on the SD card which i have no idea how to do.

There is no. Of videos of partition of sd card in YouTube.
I m using link2sd and I feel its better than app2sd.
.
If you use Android 1.6/2.1 then you have to use link2SD.
Use this guide for partitioning the sd card
SD Card Partitioning
Or if you have gone to the new Android 2.2/2.3 you dont need these steps, because they are integrated in the OS itself. There are some advantages running 2.2 or 2.3
Good luck
Thank you all... It worked!!!
Used link2SD and created partition on SD card as advised by Tommylee567. Transfered my apps to SD Card. Only issue i am having after the root is that Skype is giving me problems. Have to take the battery out to reset the phone and stop it from ringing continuously whenever someone calls me on skype. I didn't experience this problem before though.
Anyways atleast i got my apps transfered to SD Card.
Thanks Tommylee
I have partitioned my ad and installed link2sd. However it gives an error saying the 2nd partition not found. i have followed all the steps correctly and my mini pro is rooted. Can anyone help? Please!!!
Hi:
I have a lot of apps on my phone and I have la 14Gb free on USB Storga but my phone is still showing that the memory is almost full. Please help me, Im using stock ROM 2.3.6 and I have the same issue with a Galaxy Ace. Please help me!!!!!
s2 for 2 gb for apps install and stuff, and I yet to see it get filled with apps, I mean how many apps you need when mobile apps aren't big to start with.
And the data that get downloaded usually go into internal sd, or external sd.
So you might want to check if the cache of some app is acting naughty.
I have like 100 apps. I dont want an SD card, because I still have a lot of free space on usb storage.
Hi,
Use Link2SD app.
You, can move app automatically or manually.
I think Titanium Backup do it also, but Link2SD had a simplest use, and works great.
Enjoy
This device is plagued with a miserably small storage space to store applications on; 160MB system storage and 1GB internal memory. Although I've been moving the compatible apps to the "SD card" a.k.a. internal storage, that 160MB goes insanely fast. I've used link2sd and it helps but doesn't exactly fix the problem, and I would like a permanent fix.
My question to everyone here is how would I go about resizing the partitions safely? I know it has been done for Kindle Fire so it IS possible, but every device is different and I really don't want to brick this phone quite yet.
I am hoping that it is possible to remove the internal storage partition and extend the system partition by that 1GB just so I know for a fact that I'll never worry about app storage again; if not that at least shrink the internal storage and add 500MB to the system partition.
This phone is currently rooted and equipped with clockwork mod recovery, superuser, and busybox. The stock rom has also been backed up via CWM recovery.
Hope to hear from you guys soon!
[Edit] Also I realize this is a cheap phone, but it most definitely does what I need it to other than the lack of useable app storage.
Not to be that guy, but I'm bumping. This thread hasn't had a view in about 12 hours.
Any thoughts, or suggestions? Just want to tell me I'm crazy and shouldn't do it? lol
Hi I have 500Mb ROM which is down to between 40-80Mb free. Its not rooted. 400Mb used seems to be excessive as apart from Jelly Bean theres only 15 apps on ROM, using about 30Mb with the rest on external SD.
As far as I know, there is no method to find whats hogging the space on ROM without rooting the phone, or is there?
Any ideas what I can do to fix it up please.
Thanks very much.
Alistair.

Try ES explorer on root explorer form market, they should let you see what's taking space, but if you want to delete some stuff from rom you will have to root it

Those both require ROOT
I complained to dev for camscanner that their app was hogging phone memory and they have since enabled it to be moved to External SD which has saved about 30Mb. Also I was using Firefox which is internal ROM and since sorting those 2 out now have around 100Mb free.
Had to root a phone recently to fix its IMEI and was surprised at how easy it was. Am thinking about rooting mine, but at the moment its going really well without.
Chinese G9300/MTK6577 non-rooted Android 4.1
Back again with ROM now down to around 40Mb.
The phone has 1Gb RAM and 500Mb ROM, it also has internal SD 2Gb shows as /storage/sdcard1 and this memory is not available on Non-root for apps. EG its only being used for backup ringtones and sounds.
Phone also has 16Gb external microSD as /storage/sdcard0 which is available for external SD app move non-root.
I would like to be able to be able to move some of the apps from internal ROM to /storage/sdcard1 (sometimes called ext-memory). Reason being internal storage is more stable than external SD. I'd prefer to have most apps on that internal ROM currently unavailable as non-root, and use MicroSD external 16Gb for music/photos/movies etc.
If I root the phone and use something like Link2SD will it give me the option to move to internal/ sdcard1, or is it only possible to use sdcard1 if I physically remove sdcard0/MicroSD?
Thanks kindly.

Hello guyz,
I have a "rooted" micromax A44, an mtk based phone loaded with gb. Yes, It hs very low internal memory (a mere 170mb dedicated for user apps nd its data). There are no roms nor a recovery available. So im at my wits end. I tried these to overcome the problem.
1. changed internal apps (system) into user ones using Titanium Backup and moved them to sd card. still the app's data remained internal, low memory.
2. Tried link2sd to link apk's, lib files nd dalvik cache, still data stayed on internal memory.
3. Same results with apps2sd.
But, I still could have made it possible with data2sd, mounts2sd, etc. I couldn't. This is where the real problem is. Mine is a "stock" gb with root access. So maybe its the reason unable to recognize ext2,3,4 partitions on my sd card(8gb). therefore, none of those scripts worked.
link2sd worked as fat32 was supported by the kernel.
So this is my question. is ther any way I can reduce burden on the internal memory?? No matter how carefull I am, the /data partition gets hogged with files even after I removed all "my" apps leaving system apps alone.
Used all kind of cleaners possible (sd maid, clean master, memory booster, etc..) but no effect.
P.S. I even supercharged my phone as its the only script which I need not flash. adenaline, tweakz etc needs to be flashed, which in my case, never gonna happen.(no custom recovery, roms).
U people are my last hope.
Thanks
Pls tell me how you root your Micromax a44 ..
