First off, I have already reverted back to the windows mobile dialer in order to stop the ringtone lag that comes with the touchflo one. My problem is that I tried installing a few different dialers and a couple of them dont show up/work. For example, the one from Godzson looks really great in the screenshots, but I cant get it to show up on my phone. Do i need to reenable the touchflo one in order for that to happen? Would I still have the lag that is apparent with the touchflo one or will Godzson's dialer remove that? Also, I have tried the vga version of the touchflo2d dialer. This showed up and looked great, but I wasnt able to see the numbers I was dialing if I tried to do a conference call. It is important that I can see the numbers just in case I accidentally miss dial and need to make a change. So I guess I am asking for help choosing a dialer or at least help getting some of the dialers I have tried working like they should.
I am also looking for one that I can add in a party when they call. I havent been able to figure out how to do that in the windows mobile dialer and would like to know if it is an option. Essentially, if I am already on the phone with someone and I get an incoming call, I would like to be able to connect the two if I please. I know how to set up a conference call if I call both parties myself, but I would like the option to add someone into a call if they were to call me. Hopefully that makes sense.
So is there any dialer that doesnt have the lag, can add in additional parties, lets you see the number when you type it in for a conference call, and looks nice?
On a side note as a gripe, can anyone use the send key on your phone to set up a conference call? I can do it if I use the key on the touch screen, but not if I press the actual key on my phone. Its a minor concern, but its a weird problem that I have noticed.
Thanks for all of your help and time. This was a long post to read.
I have also tried the PhonEx dialer and wasnt able to use the hold button. Looks like that one is out . Are there any other suggestions?
I've tried many dialers and think I'm staying with PhonEx. I do not seem right the way it is being promoted(post the link and the videos to get it free...) and hence being banned... But I must say its a good piece of software. It is light, thumb oriented, no lag, and it completely replaces the WM dialer (others just add a dial pad). This one even allows you to use the big button keypad during calls. You can also manage(delete/add) your contacts from just there easier. I also like how it presents its four sections: Favorites, Call list, Contacts and Dialpad, giving the same importance to all and allowing to predefine any of them as the main screen for the phone (and not just the classical dialpad). I see also a "Conference" option but not tried that yet.
A little background:
The other day I was looking for a simple SMS auto-reply to function as an away message of sorts for when I'm busy and can't actively reply to texts. My search turned up two candidates, SMS Minder and Mobliza. SMS Minder was exactly what I was looking for, but unfortunately it simply did not work for me. It must've been something about my ROM, but it just ignored any texts that I received. I then paid the few bucks for Mobliza, which worked well, but it "blocked" the texts from my inbox, preventing me from viewing them later which I did not care for. I had been looking for an excuse to play around with Windows Mobile development, so I fired up Visual Studio and had a crack at it. Four hours later, here is the first release of what I got.
How to use it:
At the top of the window is a drop-down list of messages. Choose one or type in your own.
Press Start.
That's it. It'll send that message to anybody who texts you until you press Stop or exit the program.
Features:
Shows who it has replied to. Uses the contact picture if available so you can see at a glance. Useful if you're using this while driving and you are curious who texted you but you don't want to be distracted.
Unlike other programs of this nature, this one does not interfere with the text in anyway. It still goes to your normal inbox. It still gives the ringtone and vibrates like usual. This is by design.
Custom messages. Save your list of custom replies in the settings window, or simply type one into the main window quick if you're in a hurry.
Features coming later:
White/blacklists. Controls who does and doesn't get the replies.
Others? Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see in this.
This program requires the .NET Framework 3.5 to function.
Thanks for taking a look, hope someone finds this useful
Changelog:
5/31 7:40PM: Added support for saving custom messages; check the Settings menu for more. Also packaged in a cab so it can be installed and used like a proper program now.
5/30 8:30PM: Works better with QVGA devices now. I played around with the emulators, and it turns out that QVGA devices have a different DPI than VGA+ devices. So although the program ran fine on QVGA devices, it wouldn't show any actual messages it responded to, just said "and 1 more."
5/30 3:51PM: Initial release
I'm gonna try it tomorrow.
This sounds like Just the application I was looking for. Here in NY state, it is illegal to text while driving. IMHO, It is kind of dumb to text while driving, anywhere.
I have been looking for a way to send an automatic text to let people know that "I am driving now...will text later."
I am going to give this program a try tomorrow morning, and will keep you posted.
I'm also in NY state, one of the reasons I was looking for something like this
Looking forward to what you think about it.
Great. Will try it out and let you know. Thanks.
This looks really nice, as there are several times in class or when driving that I'd prefer to have an auto-reply rather than have to keep people waiting.
Couple of suggestions though:
Whitelist/Blacklist, as you said in the first post. Would help if there's certain people that you MUST be in contact with. Maybe even a extra vibrate when a message comes from a blacklist person?
Time-based activation, so that it auto-texts during class hours
Keep it up!
Maybe GPS-based activation when a user-defined speed is detected, so that it automatically starts replying to any texts when one gets in the car and start driving?
I just installed this app on my TP2 and had a friend send me a test text. It works really well. My only question is, will I have to start the application from the zip file every time I want to use Repli? There is no icon or shortcut placed in the start menu and it is not listed as a program when I search the program files in File Manager. It doesn't seem to use a lot memory so is it designed to stay open at all times. Thanks for you great effort.
Looks interesting, will test it out later..
Thanks for sharing

Features:
It keeps track of who it replies to. If the person is in your contacts, it displays their name, photo, and message. If they aren't, it simply shows the phone number and message.
Unlike other programs I've tried, this one does not interfere with the text in anyway. It still goes to your normal inbox. It still gives the ringtone and vibrates like usual. This is by design, I didn't like how Mobliza blocked that.
I haven't been able to test this since I only have a VGA WinMo device, but I've wrote it as resolution independent as I could. It works in landscape and portrait, and should theoretically work on devices with other resolutions (WVGA, QVGA, etc?). Hopefully you guys will be able to give me feedback on this one.
Features I might add later:
Saving of custom messages. Right now it starts up with the same four messages every time, you can't save your custom messages between runs. I'll add this in the next release.
White/blacklists. I'll add this if there's any demand.
Others? Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see in this.
I should also mention that this requires the .NET Framework 3.5. It's also a tiny exe file, I didn't package it up as a cab or anything. So drop the exe on your device and run it. I didn't add much error-handling so don't be surprised if the program crashes for you. If it does, please let me know what you were doing and what exception it throws so I can fix it up.

Made a quick .cab file, but no icon yet. Thanks for the cool app!
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I just posted an update. I added support for custom messages now with saving and loading. I made a lot of progress on whitelists and blacklists, but its not ready for primetime quite yet. Also, I finally packaged it as a cab so you can install it like its a real program now.
Keep the feedback coming
new version works well with the custom messages, but i cannot start the app. It just stays on the start. first version started though. Thanks.
Sorry about that. I changed the way the program initialized the SMS catching. Guess it doesn't work universally that way. Try the updated cab.

A few questions to help me debug:
1. When you press the Start button, does it switch to say "Stop"?
2. When your friend texts you, does the message show up in the window?

1. Yes, I see "Stop" after I pressed Start. I did not exit but minimise the application before receiving message.
2. The message did not show up in Repli. Only in my SMS InBox.
Appreciate your work on this. Very useful.
This is great!
I tested out the program yesterday while traveling. I think it is a fantastic idea. It worked the whole time. You can use it for so many other things! Meetings, Emergencies, Etc. I especially like the fact that it tells you who you have to get back to. This way you don't forget about them.
I did find a bug.
1) You have to hit "exit" - not the "x" at the top of the screen. If you use the "ok" button on your phone, or tap the "x" at the top of the screen, you get an error message that tells you:
"An unexpected error has occurred in Repli.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information." Then when you choose "Details" you get this message:
" Error
Repli.exe Applicationlauncherenableexception at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.MessageInterception.MessageInterceptor.Unregister(StringapplicationLaunchId) at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.MessageInterception.MessageInterceptor.Finalize()"
Thanks for making the Icon for the start menu! It makes life soooo much easier. Also, thanks for making customized replies available.
Thank you so much for this wonderful little application! It is going to be a real life (and money/ticket) saver!!

The program really does need an icon. Even to just put it in your menus list. But...
My solution, for now, is: I copied the program into My Documents, so when I use file explorer, it is on the first page and I don't have to go looking for where I put it. Once I have used the program, it stays in "recent programs" on your start menu until I soft reset. (I have start-clean so when I reset, the recent programs folder gets emptied.)

Glad you like it! It sounds like you're using an old version though. Install the cab file in the first post, it has an icon and lets you save your messages. Let me know if that version still gives you those exceptions if you close it with the OK button. Thanks

Same here, doesnt seem to like HD2's?
anybody have tried this app? please share your experience.
tried it, like the features, but it does not work with better keyboard so unfortunately, I continue to hope for a backport of voice actions
Great app, provided me with hours of fun, once you know all the commands can work very well as long as you speak clearly.
When you dont speak so clearly some of the stuff it comes up with is brilliant!!!
Only really works very well in quiet backgrounds.
I think it works great. I've set it up with tasker to start the in-car app whenever i plug in a headset with mic.
I like it and it works nice even knowing that english is not my first language but i think it should support more languages.
EDIT: i just read that there is a spanish beta on BB...
I wish i could say love it but heres the thing....whenever i try to text my girlfriend, i get a window with add recipient on top and the text box at the bottom with no option to send....
vlingo registers my gf and gives me the option to click on her phone number but thats about it...help?
Does anyone know how I can get this app to automatically start when connected via bluetooth headset? Well it's a car navigation system but it should still work the same. That option doesn't seem to work for me.

Doesn't seem to be the case for me, I work in a noisy factory and it actually works better than when I'm in a quiet surrounding, weird because any other app using voice recoqnition doesn't work at all. I am truly impressed with this app.
On a side note... Iphone fanboys at work installed the "free" Vlingo app after they saw mine working, when they went to send the text they were informed that to use the texting feature it was $6.99. Ha Ha apple strikes again.
Is this app working 100% for you guys?
Works OK, problem I find is that it needs to connect to the Vlingo servers (via wifi or data) to check what you're saying before actually typing into text. So I stopped using it because of the charges I'm incurring.
Too bad it won't run off the SD card.
Vlingo Rocks! ***** Thumb's Up
I'm in Transportation and there is no better app when I am on the road. FREE and LOADED with useful features beta car mode is fantastic! As long as music is at reasonably low level and I speak loud and clear; it gets every word. Bluetooth settings are there, but I believe I need Android 2.2 or 2.3 on my X10 to use bluetooth as voice command mic. Other than that, it is a winner like Swype!
im having trouble with vlingo, it doesnt follow my instructions
I've been using Google Voice Search since day on my original Droid with slide out keyboard, but today it's no longer voice-to-text'ing my punctuations. It's actually spelling out each punctuation into words, and this extremely annoying considering how dependent I have become with Google Voice Search's Voice Actions.
I sell phones and demonstrate, always driving around to different locations, always have hands tied... Please help me figure out why it's all of a sudden not punctuating..!
I'm rooted on stock. Voice Search has been cleared, force stopped, installed updates, reinstalled updates.
Swype's keyboard microphone does punctuations and smiley faces perfect.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Would anyone know why I cannot type punctuations with my voice with google voice search anymore?

I just did a Google search for my issue, and I found my own thread just after one day of posting. It's the first result, too. That's sweet.
I'm extremely glad it's not just me! It happened to me just a couple of days ago, too. I was out of town on business, so I couldn't trouble shoot on other Androids. I'm at my girl's house now. I picked up her Droid Incredible 2 while posting this, and I held down the search button:
Send Text to NAME smiley face
It spelled out smiley face instead of making one. This appears to be Google. I'll be checking on other Android devices tomorrow. I'm very glad it's not my Razr.
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx
Anyone else having this issue? -_-
Same Problem Here
It is definitely google, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum but I'm on rooted HTC Evo 4g and just noticed the other day, when I use voice search it will spell out my punctuation. Example "Hello comma are you going to the party tonight question mark" rather than "Hello, are you going to the party tonight?" as it did before.
Ironically enough, it only does this when I actually use the voice search comment and say "Send text to" etc.
If I already open up a text and press the little microphone it will still dictate punctuation.
Same Issue - but speech to punctuation works in other apps
Same problem here. It just started happening to me a couple days ago and extremely annoying. I can't believe how dependent I am on voice search - I use it all the time. I tried deleting and reinstalling voice search, as well as changing the settings for google services voice recognition, but neither had any affect.
What's really strange is that the voice to punctuation works in other apps like texting or email apps, which also use voice search for the speech to text conversion. It just doesn't work from the "voice search" application.
Strange....
Same issue here, rooted Samsung Epic 4G with CM9. I have a feeling it's some weird issue with Google's servers or something...
Yep, happening to me too.
I have been tweaking without my Google Voice Search texting. It makes the "Send Text To:" command utterly useless.
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx
Same problem here... I thought it was because I moved it into the system directory. Moved it out, and still same problem. Now that I see I'm not the only one, I'm moving it back...
Can anyone suggest an alternative for e-mailing? I tried Vlingo, which handles punctuation correctly, but doesn't do as good of a job looking up contacts.
I thought it was because I switched from my HTC Vivid to my Galaxy Note... I guess it is not just that Samsung sucks.. lol ... I hope this issue gets resolved sooner than later..
I just posted a question about this and a link to this thread on Reddit.
Same problem here.
I flashed an ICS ROM to my EVO3D and still have the same issue. Plus there's no mic icon in the pop-up text window.
Add one more to the list ... HTC Sensation running ARHD 6.6.3. Surely this isn't a new "feature" from Google ....
Thank you to everyone who has replied and stated they're having issues.
Maybe we can get a moderator to move this thread into the right area? Especially considering we have this issue across multiple devices?
Who can help me create a Google support thread? I've been wanting to contact Google about this issue.
It's fixed! Stupendous! Back to good old trusty Google Voice!
We all do (have this problem atm. I am on Stock Android JB @N7000). All I could find is this. http://support.google.com/android/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1715292
Check this: http://forum.swype.com/showthread.p...n-Google-Voice-vs-Dragon-on-Swype-for-Android
And that their voice products are amazing. For the first time, I am considering having read back books to me on the go or when preparing lunch - Google's TTS is THAT GOOD!
Bump.
I might start a new thread, but I'm starting here first to see if anyone is monitoring this thread.
The Google Now Voice to Text feature for "Send Text" is working again, but it now has a new issue. Punctuation and Smiley Faces are not recognized at the end of the last sentence of Google Now/Voice Search's "Text" Voice Command.
For example:
" text Bonnie i miss you exclamation point smile face "
Normally yields a text to Bonnie:
" I miss you! "
However, it now does this text:
" i miss you "
It actually continues to type the correct punctuation and smileys while dictating in the Search bar, but it does not carry them over to the text message. Anything at the end of a sentence is now completely lost. Vanishes. And annoying.
Prior to recently, it would not carry over punctuation at the end of sentences; but it would work fine if I added a smiley face to the end of my texts. So.. For a while, a vast majority of my texts to people ended with a smiley face. LoL. Just to get the question mark or exclamation point to show up correctly at the end of my texts. However, my smiley face band aid does not work anymore.
Anyone having similar issues?
Greetings XDA community. I've been googling on and off throughout the day looking for an auto-call answering app that does what I'm looking for. Basically, I need it to auto-answer a call from a particular phone number (easy enough), and after answering I need it to press/send the pound (#) button. Then, I'd like it to hang up. Does anyone know of an existing app that could do this?
While this isn't the exact use I want such an app for, think of it like this: you live in a condo that requires someone to be buzzed in. The building dial pad connects to your cell phone. When they dial you from downstairs, you have to answer and press # to buzz them in. If this was my scenario, I would tell my phone to auto-answer the # of the dial pad, and once answered automatically press # to buzz them in. and then hang up.
I'm fearful no such app exists at the moment, but hoping someone here is my saver!

You're on the right track. Tasker + AutoInput.
Thanks you two. I have Tasker now and am trying to figure out how to make this happen. It seems logical enough (IF phone rings and caller is "xxxxx", answer phone. Then, when call duration = 3 seconds, input "#" on keypad. Then, hang up), but I'm working on figuring out how tasker wants me to input this basic combo Looks promising once I figure it out, though!
Did you figure this out? I'm looking for the exact same thing and was wondering if you could post your steps. Thanks!
P.S. I'll try it myself as well and see if I can work it out.
I am also looking for the exact same thing. Did you ever find a solution?
Thanks!
