Everything sounds badass about the evo 3d
I want to say the CPU's. Personally I like HTC Sense, but even with the current Evo and a custom ROM Sense needs a little more power than the current Evo can deliver. I want HTC Sense to run as smooth as AOSP does on my Evo 4G So far I have found no ROM/Kernel that can make this happen on my Evo, though the little bit of lag I do see is nothing compared to my old HeroC, LOL.
Sense UI period........ if anyone buy this phone and ***** why can't it be AOSP can stick it up your arse. Go buy LGX2 or SamSux. HTC = Sense UI.

The new sense looks pretty bad ass and the 3d is a nice touch, but its for that third gen Snapdragon and the Adrino 220.
The screen...I really don't care for the 3d stuff. I do not have any experience with 3d products..this I have to see personally. I am disappointed we take a hit on the camera from 8 megapixel down to 5. What good is a camera with a better screen but lower density camera. Many people say the human eye cannot tell the difference from a 8 vs. 5 megapixel picture....my experience tells me otherwise.

So I was 99.9% certain I was going to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S II, but now that ive seen the evo 3d, im stuck between these 2 devices.
Spec wise there pretty similar
Both have 4.3" displays
Both shoot 1080p and have ffc
Both are 1.2ghz Dual-core
Both have 1gb ram
Both have hdmi out
Only obvious difference is evo has 3d cam and 3d display but galaxy 2 diaplay is wayyy batter in terms of quality not res.
Build quality of htc evo 3d will be better, im sure, but the GSII is like half the thickness and very light, so thats sort of a draw. Release is around the same time and im sure price wont differ that much.
Which one should a person choose considering the whole 3d thing is sort of a gimmick and im going to barely make use of it???
And how exactly do you know the Galaxy's screen is waaayyy better?

I had galaxy s and have desire hd currently and the s-amoled is much much better than the DHD lcd and the evo also uses lcd. On top of that, the s-amoled plus is big improvement over the samoled so its common sense. Also ive seen comparison shots of lcd vs s-amoled vs s-amoled plus vs retina and samoled plus is easily the best.
Same dilemma here...
HTC = Sense UI, if you buy LG, Samsung or any other manufacturer you will never see Sense roms. Look at Samsung Galaxy S series, 4G, Nexus S etc... all they have is AOSP roms like CM7, Miui etc.. no Sense due to close source from htc, now if you buy HTC phone you can have both worlds Sense UI and AOSP roms.

about the release date from what Ive heard, the sgs2 is coming out for verizon, tmobile and sprint around june, and evo 3d is also supposedly coming out in june but I think it might be sooner since theres and htc event for the 12th or 14th and pre orders might start soon but im not sure if its for the htc pyramid or evo3d. So who knows maybe itll be out sooner

I think it depends on which SG2 is available to you, will it be the Tegra 2 or Samsung Orion. The Tegra 2 is very underwhelming, but the Orion is impressive.
If it's the Tegra 2 SG2 (I think Europe is still getting these) get the Evo 3D instead. If you can nab the Orion SG2, get that one.
And the lack of Sense argument is invalid, since the SG2 will have Touchwiz, which Sense phones lack. Some people like Sense, some people hate it. Some people like Touchwiz, some people hate it. Having one or the other isn't really a drawback/benefit.
Personally, I would go with the SG2 (I dislike Sense a little bit more than Touchwiz), assuming Samsung doesn't use a ****ty file system again like the first series.
And really, the whole HTC vs. Samsung arguments are getting real old, real fast. We get it, Touchwiz and the plastic is not your cup of tea. However, some people love it. I love the feel of the Nexus S MUCH more than the feel of the Nexus One, but I like the feel of the DHD more than the feel of the.. Captivate. Preference. Saying "Samsux" is just childish.
Perhaps the only thing I hate about Android is that the community is split between HTC, Samsung or Motorola. There is no middle ground, just like iPhone vs. Android. It's one or the other and people will incessantly argue which is better. It's all preference guys, there is no need to impose your preferences on others so harshly, especially when we are all apart of the same community.
Edit: I also prefer SAMOLED to SLCD, so I am assuming I will love the SAMOLED+ more than the SLCD 3D of the Evo 3D, but I could be wrong.
@XanLinder, it's not about which is better. I'm just pointing out the facts that if you like TouchWiz than get Samsung or Sense than get HTC. You forgot this is htc section HTC = SENSE
Edit: I'm just saying that if you buy other manufacturers don't complain about there's no dev, roms. Look at the Nexus S development section they all thought just because it's a Google phone and it'll be supported by dev just like N1. But it's not they forget who make the Nexus One. Now they're moaning and *****ing cause they want Sense UI. lmao

Super Amoled + at 4.3in on the SGS2 will have a lower resolution than the Evo 3D's qHD resolution of 540x960. I will go for the Evo. You will see the pixels on the SGS2. They dropped the ball with resolution.

Not necessarily because the evo will provably have pentile matrix and the new super amplest plus has 50 percent more subpixels per pixel. Early reviews All have praised the galaxy s2s display, slcd is good but anemic in terms of colors and vibrancy compared to super amoled

Ok so i know that posting here i would exspect most to say Evo (and i am posting here because i am using the EVO at the moment) but if you had the choice now which would you go for and why?
I have both at home now and am really struggling to decide which to keep.
Looks wise the sensation gets it in my opinion.....but that said i often feel i might drop it because of its sleekness.
Camera wise sensation gets it as i am very unlikey to use the 3d long term...its a great gimic at the moment but long term not sure how much i will make use of it and content seems very little around at the moment.
Screen - EVO gets it, when looking at both side by side Evo is brighter, whites look whiter if that makes sense, dont know why as they are supposed to be the same screen but there is definetly a difference.
External speaker - Evo gets it, the sound is more 'full' and not as crisp as the sensation - volume wise i would say both are the same.
Battery wise the EVO should be better as its larger but if i went for the sensation i could swap the EVO battery into the Sensation
Both are running 2.3.4 so no difference there although the EVO does feel smother for some reason.
Ram is bigger on EVO although not sure how or if i would ever see the difference in this.
Happtic feedback....EVO is better...i know not everyone uses this but for some reason when this is used on the Sensation there sounds like something is loose as its not a 'solid' vibration like on the EVO maybe its a build quality issue but it really niggles me to the point that i would need to switch it off if using the Sensation.
Sensation does full HD which for some reason EVO dose not? is this due to only having 5mp camera or do you think this will come in an update? Full HD is really the standard now on the latest smartphones. That being said i have noticed that when recording in full HD on Sensation the playback is a little 'choppy' at times, might be due to memory card issues...i read somewhere that a lower class card can have this effect (class 4 in EVO and Sensation) not sure if this is true or not though.
These are just a few of my thoughts and observations and i welcome your help in making my mind up.
You almost gave you own answer, the full hd is possible on the EVO but it probably be choppy, and 720 o ain't bad for a phone , well I use a camcorder for vacations , anyways I like how the sensation looks but I prefer my EVO 3d, for some reason HTC makes some ok designs for cdma and makes great ones for GSM phones
Besides that which one has better coverage where you live and work , I would put that in my list

I'd go Evo 3D. You don't have to use the phone in 3D if you don't want to. You also get 1Gb RAM. Bit more than Sensation.

I was dithering but opted for the 3D. The Sensation has the prettier casing, but the 3D is nicer to hold in the hand. In my opinion anyway.
If I want super high quality photos, I use my camera. Everything else I now do in 3D as it's just great to have the depth etc of 3D. Many think it's a gimmick but I genuinely enjoy it.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
I'd say EVO 3D. The specs, screen, and bigger battery are enough to convince me. Although I must admit, the Sensation looks damn sexy... but that being said, it does feel way too slippery for me. Too sleek. The RAM on the 3D is also a BIG bonus, and I'm sure the 3D will get 1080p recording eventually. EVO 3D.
I would say go for an EVO!!
EVO 3D please!

I originally had the sensation but then sold it and upgraded to the evo 3d. I would say go for the sensation, even though the battery in the evo is larger it seems roughly comparable to my old sensation.
The screen on my evo3d is very dull compared to my old sensation and that touch screen problem makes playing my favourite games a hassle.
3d is nice but I would rather have a sexier phone tbh you can always slap on an awesome phone case and it'll feel just like a 3d
If you ain't got 3D, well, ya ain't got 3D.

Hi all,
I'm about to pass the point when i can't swap my EVO 3D for another phone.
Shall i get the Sensation XE? The Galaxy Nexus? Or stick with the EVO 3D?
The rom's available for the EVO 3D are no where near the Sensation in terms of speed and fluidity, comparing the two makes the evo look a bit silly, it lags and just doesn't match up compared to the sensation.
What do you think i should do?

Do you have a cdma device? The CDMA development is quite a bit ahead of the GSM side, an yes it does lag, i'm thinking that in the future it will change and some of the developers will make some great roms, but for now it's really taking it's time.
The lag problem is Sense. Try a different launcher, like adw or golauncher, you won't have lag anymore. I hate sense.

I know m8, i know. But by not having sense, makes having an evo in the first place a redundant decision, I like sense and if you saw how well it runs on my missus' sensation (core droid) then you would agree, it's blisteringly quick.
If i was to opt for a senseless phone i would have got a sgs2 or a galaxy nexus, or even the lg 3d.
The widgets you get on senselss phones are weak, not as good looking as sense and not all of them are free.
I appreciate your input but i know that sense can be made to run smoothly on this device, it will just take the right developer to accomplish it.
i would go with the sensation xe sense is the best skin out there i personaly would never get a nexus phone because thats all it can ever be pure android and maybe miui but go with a Sense phone or even Touchwiz you will have at least one more choice

Lol Would be funny. If market has any say in it, it'll probably have like six cores in it with a display screen too big for its own good.
the evo 3d hardware is already great however the reason why sales aren`t so good is because it is a bit fat and sense 3.0 is not as great as sense used to be, just creating lag whilst adding minimal functionality. people are always saying how bad the snapdragon s3 is but thats because up until now the only phones to have it were sense based. if you look at nenamark 2 you will notice the phone on top is a snapdragon s3 device which scored 10 fps better than the exynos chipset and almost twice as much as the evo and sensation, the difference, software. thats what it all comes down to in the end. i just hope htc finally realises this.
i dunno if its gonna have 3d but check out the htc edge a quad-core phone it will probably become the newest evo .. at least i hope so

I think it was all to do with advertising. I bought my evo 3D from ASDA (aka Walmart) for only £250.
Showed it to people and they were like wow! That's so cheap for a phone that does that (3D). What phone is it? Wish I'd known before I upgraded, etc. etc.

everywhere I go , friends ask to borrow my phone to use the 3d photo.
best party trick it does, is wifi to samsung tv's. awsome with the hdmi link when your traveling
I think that what made this phone flop was the absence of support for the 3D functionality.
No websites support this so in a way if you have 3D content you've shot you'll have to enjoy them in 2D which in many cases looks bad because the focus you'll use for 3D is not always the best for 2D.
I believe that a better overall platform needs to be in place before we have another 3D phone.
Nevertheless the 3D was an amazing proof of concept.

In my view, 3D is/was just a gimmick. The best part was that you are not forced to use it!
I don't mind another 3D phone as long as it can be switched off easily--- I just wish HTC start making thinner phones. Almost all handset makers (except the "fruit" one) have slimmer phones.
I've been reading around and I don't understand why people say this phone is getting old. It gas been out for a while, but looking at the hardware this phone has its not far behind any phone. And the 3d isn't that useful, but nice to have and play around with time to time

Sadly, no. 3D is not a very good feature - You have to be looking at it completely straight and strain your eyes just to see the 3D effect. It's not silky smooth like a moving hologram.
If you buy this phone solely for 3D, you'll end up being VERY disappointed. That said, everything else about this phone is great except for the fact that you can get the upcoming Evo LTE for $200 on a new contract. The Evo LTE looks like an insane beast of a phone. Insane beast.
Let me tell you a little story.
Actually, long story short, i hated my evo 3D, but the day i installed the official leaked ICS ROM things have changed. This phone is a complete BOMB, fast as hell, smooth as hell, no bugs, awesome 3d... man there is a day and night difference between gingerbread and ics and if you have the courage of installing a custom rom, this phone is hands down AMAZING and the best option! Heck, even the screen looks brighter on ics... i have fallen in love with my evo 3d... it's a joy to use it rather than a slow piece of **** it was with gingerbread... obviously the 3d isnt there in the ui, because if it was the battery would finish in half an hour!
Guess the story turned out to be pretty long but owell

Been on the HTC bandwagon since the 4G. The 3D isnt a huge jump as the 4G was when it came out but certainly this is the first phone I can keep longer than 2 years if I needed to. ICS brings out its potential greatly and I've even fallen back in love with the new Sense 4.0.
Also, if you like, you always run ASOP if you hate Sense. But its funny when you browse other phone's threads and see people wishing to have Sense on their Sammy devices. Makes you proud.

Lol excuse me, im far from a troll. Why would the guy just want opinions from people who like the phone. I owned the phone and I didnt like it and i told him why. Thats exactly what he was looking for the good and the bad. It has high res screen. Camera sucks on it, but it does do 3d pics and videos. Its fast but not the fastest and slowed down a lot bc of sense. Sense looks great but is a little too much for my taste. If your trying to get wii controllers connected its impossible with sense roms. Typing on it isnt as fast and responsive as it should be. Running miui on it makes you realize how fast the phone should be. But when i had the phone 3d wasnt working on aosp/miui roms so if u wanted a fast rom you lose features. I like the looks of the evo3d. I had both the black and white evo3d and more people are impressed with my white e4gt. Its bulky and heavy compared to my e4gt. Honestly the only thing i miss is the higher res screen and sometimes the 3d.

Ignore the 3D feature unless you think you will use it, as the quality is not very good when taking the 3D yourself due to it only being 2MP :-(
The rest of the spec is good, and with it (hopefully) getting ICS soon, improvements in the pretty bad Sense implementation we have now will be much improved
1GB RAM on the phone really helps out and was one of the main reason for me getting this over my O2X.
It's good for the money... but other phones now like the new HTC X are WAY ahead.
