I just came across this just now. According to Droid Life, there is a new google music apk when the test market was accidently released. I was curious if anyone has gotten sync to work? Possibly using titanium to remove the HTC music app then installing the new google music apk? I'm currently tied up at work and school and unable to test this out.

Look over in the development forum. I posted a copy of the leaks. The music app works without uninstalling anything.
Thanks!

Under Accounts & sync, click Google. You should now have a 'Sync Music' option.
I tried this last night and never really got it to work properly. I have like 10 gigs of music on my phone and it continued to sync all night and through today. I finally chose to shut off the sync option and run with what's on my phone. Not like I'm running out of room with this monster sd card lol. I'll let them get it officially up and running first. I just clicked on the instructions link in the other thread. They're easy to follow, all seemed to go smooth. Dunno. Maybe it does work, and I should have chose to test with just a few songs instead.

Youtube and adobe reader are preinstalled on this phone, but don't show up under "my apps" in the market. Since they are not there, I didn't know that updates were available for them until I was searching around the market.
So if you care, they can be updated.
New youtube version is 2.1.6

Yea I found that a week or so ago (or whenver they updated, but it is pretty annoying that they weren't showing up there)
I tried clearing cache in Settings->Apps->Market, but it didn't work.
Thanks for the heads up though.
I was bouncing around the market the other day and saw the gmail program and it didn't say I had it installed. Is htc using a custom one or what's the difference? Anyone else see that?

Good to know. I had updates unapplied from Facebook and Youtube.
The Youtube update is a big one if I remember correctly. It's supposed to make the search results for the mobile client more like what you'd see on a computer.
What applications are you getting to work for the vtab?
I can get yahoo messenger to work but cant download the plugins for video
I cant get the buttons to show up for skype.
Trillian says its loading and signs me out of yahoo but doesnt finish.
I use trillian with google, facebook, and msn with no issues. I also use the new google voice+sprint for texting/chat.

How did you get Google voice working? When I install it, I go through the setup process, and when I get to the section about setting up voicemail (which obviously won't work) I get an error.
I believe the choices on the error are "cancel" (which let's you try again, to no avail obviously) or "skip". When I press skip, it just dumps me back to the same page of the setup I'm on (voicemail), but both the back and forward buttons are greyed out...
Now, the funny thing is that Google Voice is now running! If I get a text, it pops up in the notification bar. But if I want to go into Google Voice manually and write a text, I can't because I can't get past the setup process...very annoying.
I also use Google Voice on a real phone (HTC Magic on t-Mobile) using the same Google account....would that make a difference?
someone did a mod to the voice .apk, I don't remember which forum I got it from. I will put it on my dropbox and post the link here in a few. The modified .apk allows you to skip the phone settings part where you got stuck.
update:
I didn't think I would find it this quick on my computer. I uninstalled google voice then reinstalled using this one and it works like a champ

Thanks, that worked perfectly! I wasn't able to uninstall the old version (said it was a system app, not uninstallable), so I installed the new one right on top of the old one, no trouble.
You can also just upgrade to the current Google Voice in the market. The skip button works fine in it.

Working for me, did you go into settings and make sure your account is linked? Also check Accounts under settings.
It ended up showing after a while.thanks
-ended up cooperating eventually-
Here is an older version of Google Music that is not tied to the Play Store, and works on the Fire HD without root. You of course need the Google login service working. It doesn't work the first time because it wants you to add an account and then complains the account already exists. But if you close the app then open it back up, you can choose the account that already exists.
My playlists popped right up and now I can enjoy all that music I bought!
I don't have much music yet on the N7 but it would be nice to have it available on the kfhd as well seeing that audio playback on the latter is very very good. And I also have a bluetooth headset as well when necessary to not bother surrounding folks.
Thanks for the tip!
I had to come up with a non-root method of playing the music because I spent a lot of time uploading CDs on my father's Google account for my mother to listen to on my father's Nexus 7. I am planning on giving her a Fire HD for Christmas, and of course I want her to be able to listen to all the music I uploaded for her!
I don't think Amazon and Google are doing anyone any good by not cooperating on Google Play. This is just insane. All the apps I bought on Google Play should be available on every device, not just the sanctioned devices.

Hi
I have Google login services installed and it shows up in my installed apps, I have installed Google music from both here and from the 1mobile market app but neither version ask for my Google ID at any point so all I see is the one album that is on the device.
Any pointers gratefully received.
This is a new UK kindle fire, currently not rooted.
would appreciate any advice on this by those who've started to experiment.

You can easily disable all of the "T-Mobile" apps: T-Mobile My Account, T-Mobile Name ID, T-Mobile TV
I've also disabled TalkBack, Rescue, Polaris Office, News & Weather, Lookout Security,Kid Mode, Hangouts, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Magazines.
As far as the HTC applications, I haven't began to disable any of them yet...
Thanks for your post, I was able to disable some more apps

I don't see, "or uninstalled" anywhere here.
So whats wrong with Google Music?
Do semantics really matter? And does it really matter whether or not I said it in my original post or if I clarified in my next post that it was either disabled OR "uninstalled"? The point is these apps that I mentioned are no longer present blaring in my face whenever I access my phone.
What's wrong with Google Music? Nothing -- if you want to use it. Me, personally? Google Music is a subscription-based service and it is something that, to me, is not worth it's value monthly.
