No, it's not the one where my music stops at 2 minutes .
I have tried searching for this topic, but searching for Winamp glitch, or Winamp playback issue keeps on bringing back the same threads.
My glitch is pretty odd.
When playing a group of songs from a playlist or an album from a certain artist the song will occasionally insert another track -in the middle- of the currently playing track.
For example:
If I am currently playing Track 1, somewhere in the middle of the track the song will switch to Track 4 but Winamp is still showing that I'm playing Track 1 (with the minutes counting down as usual). If I let it continue playing, towards the end of the track I the song usually switches back to Track 1. If I skip the song it will skip as normal, if I go to the beginning of the song the problem replicates itself.
This does not happen all the time, but it happens often enough to annoy the **** out of me. Anybody experience a similar issue?
I have had this happen...with the stock player AND with Miui player. Just think of it as a mashup!
If it happened more often I would be quite annoyed...
I've had this happen as well using both the stock player and winamp. There seem to be a lot of bugs that Motorola shipped this device with. This one and the front microphone/44100hz sound recording bug are two of the worst in my opinion.

Yeah, a mash up would actually be the perfect way to describe what's happening. Although most times the songs don't match so it sounds like ****
So I guess nobody has come up with a solution?
Edit: Just to add... I won't be too bothered by this glitch if I could simply skip to the next track. The problem is, I usually listen to music during my commute on motorcycle (1 hour each way) and don't have access to the phone controls. So I'm stuck having to listen to the mismatched music till it ends.
Happens to me too.

This has happened several times to me using the default music app. Does anyone know if this happens on other phones or is it our specifically?
Well I came from a nexus one and this never happened. ever! On my atrix I've also noticed skips where its like a bad cd but... its not

I had that problem too.
Just remove Winamp or your favorite Music Player from the Autoclose list in the Task Manager.
Get an app called "HeadSet Blocker" i had this issue on the default one. After using these..haven't had a song skipped yet. Its a widget so make you have turned on.

i use winamp every day and i've never came across this issue. i did previously experience a glitch with the song skipping in the beginning of the song but i no longer have that issue. running GingerBlur v1.3, latest winamp version. I also didnt experience this on the stock rom or on GladiAtrix.
Anybody getting distorted sound? I think it nay be a sample rate issue. Doesn't matter the level certain songs have clear distortion like its clipping but its not.

Try this song on your Atrix. Distorted for me.

I'm not sure if you are describing the bug I have had or not. I've had the default music player essentially just start taking over when I'm already using a different player. If you are rooted you can safely freeze the default music app and it fixes this problem.
I used to be a big fanboy of WinAmp, now due to too many failures /hickups I moved to MixZing. This player just works and I never experienced ANY problems.
Big thumbs up for that one - I'm never going back.
Try it out if you are not too hung up on ONLY WinAmp...
I've absolutely had this! Glad I'm not alone.
Its happened with the stock player, the leaked new player from a week ago, and even with doubleTwist.
Its rare and each time seems to be caused when I skip a track then decide to go backwards to the previous one.
All through the song its like it wants to skip back to the middle of the one I was on before I skipped back.
+1 for Mixzing. Just tried it now & it seems way better than stock or Winamp. Thanks, Robert_it.

Tired of the same old music player what's the best one out?
Have you tried Wimamp ?
I like Meridian
its really up to you.......try them all
PowerAmp gives you the best sound production imho.
PowerAmp+Galaxy Tuner = WIN
I have to go with Meridian because I ride a motorcycle, so I love its headset button controls. I knew the click to pause, but recently discovered that a quick double-click skips to the next track, slower double-click goes to the previous track, and possibly a few more I can't think of right now.
I have yet to found any headphones with multiple remote buttons that are compatible with the vibrant, so this was my solution to avoid certain death on CA's freeways.
I prefer Mixzing. I love the widget player especially with Widget Locker.
I've always liked Winamp and Doubletwist.

Got my setting from this post, sounds real good with this one:

Btw, powerAMP also has that headset-click-to-control feature as well. Better sound than meridian and mixzing....

+1 Meridian. Headset button support is nice. 2 things notably missing: Lock Screen Support, and replaygain tag support. The latter is something I would really like, but the app creator has indicated that it ain't coming.
So far I have found that all of the music player apps on android suffer from one flaw: the random playlist - not so random.
I have about ~800 tracks on my phone and for some reason (winamp/stock player/doubletwist/poweramp/etc etc) always play the same songs from a select handful. It is like their random playlist generator peaks out after a certain amount. I have seen all of them play a track (lets say file #205) then go to 4-5 more different tracks then it plays file #205 again. I hit skip, and then it plays one of the 4-5 it played before #205. It appears to me, that they all use a built in android function (or some such) for the random playlist. But this function uses a dynamic ever-changing source pool. So instead of reading your tracks from the SD card and then randomly sorting that list and hitting "play" it, instead, puts all the tracks file paths in an array and then on each "play" or "skip" it generates a random number and picks a track out of the array to play (while not removing any of the already played-tracks).
As for the file affinity, I have no idea. It is almost like a specific random number set is always generated (like when debugging in VS where it always picks the same set of "random" numbers so that you can test the program flow).
Is there any music player app that is either true-ly random or uses the single play-list and does not repeat songs in the play list?
Wow...that was a long post.

I think I had. Was a while back though. I thought Winamp would solve this issue since Winamp on PC is kick ass and it uses a single play list and drops a song once it is played from playing again (until a stop or reload occurs).
I will try it out again and see how it goes.

Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like there are mixed opinions about PowerAmp...I'll have to try it out for myself.
I can consistently make the stock Music app crash. I just go and select a song or album from the library (usually by Artist), which will cause it to start playing music. Then I go and select another song and it will crash with the message the music player "has stopped unexpectedly" etc. etc. "Force Close". If it doesn't crash immediately, I just try playing another song. Switching songs twice does it every time.
I have almost 7.5GB of music, which I guess is a lot, but shouldn't cause crashes. I sync using Winamp on my desktop, though I think I also had the issue synching with other applications. Other apps work mostly fine. Winamp rarely crashes. MixZing and DoubleTwist have never crashed.
I thought it was the phone, so I took it back to the Sprint store. The Sprint guy remarked how hot my phone was (didn't seem out of the ordinary to me) and gave me a brand new phone. My music is on my 16GB SD card, so I tried it out 5 minutes after swapping to the new phone and it still crashes (though about all my other, unrelated phone problems have been fixed).
I've uploaded a video of this current phone crashing to YouTube, but I don't have enough posts to link to an outside URL.
Anyone else having this issue? Not like I need to use the stock player, but I'm just curious if this is only me.
I'm also having that problem. Thought it was just me, but I guess not. I have no idea how to fix it.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Not just you guys. I've been able to re-create that same crash, and have since I got the phone. It's not my music collection, as the exact same collection on the exact same SD card plays perfectly on the stock HTC Playler on my Evo 4G. It's the newer HTC Music app, it's buggy. I've posted about this in the 'current bugs' thread, and also over at Android Forums. Some other people also get the problem. Hopefully HTC will address it. I think a lot of other users don't notice this is because they use a 3rd party music player, such as google music beta, or poweramp or something like that. I like the stock player though, because of the lockscreen music widget
Thank god. Thought I was taking crazy pills.
Are you guys getting this while headphones plugged in? I had this issue intermittently, grabbed an app on the market called headset blocker widget, haven't had the issue since. I have not had the issue on speaker. ymmv

Nope, I've had this issue without headphones. Headphones will only cause the player to skip and pause, and I got Headset Blocker for that.
Haven't really use it so no idea or much info but there is a nice app in the market is call power AMP and is great player, you can download a free version or buy the full one for 5$ really good and great developer to, btw it has EQ options integrated and it works great
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
My HTC Music Player is also buggy. Although, instead of force closing it just shuts down and I have to reboot. I am on my second 3VO handset, but I had the exact same probem with my first one.
I just started using RealPlayer Beta, works well...
I've been having all sorts of issues with the stock app as well, crashing and music skipping. Glad I read this thread though. Appreciate being pointed to the fix to my songs skipping. thanks.
Ok, so ever since i upgraded to GB a few weeks back ive been having some issues with my music player.
Before i could listen to music on long road trips for hours with no problems, even after screen lock. Now it seems that only after a few mins, the music player just shuts off!! Its also not even a set time, just whenever it likes, could be 2 mins, or 10 mins, but its very short.
Also it has no affect on if i just switched songs or not, even if the screen is on and not locked, it shuts off.
What is causing this?
i have had this. not consistently though. sometimes i have no problems.

It never happened to me using 'cubed music player'
do not have things like "gallery," "wallpaper picker," or any system items in the "auto-end" list, or for whatever reason (interconnectedness of things), your music will stop. I had this problem, and when I removed items from the auto-end, it worked fine.
I agree the music player is bad, but for reasons including that there is no "all songs" option for each artist (ie you have to name every album on Itunes or it goes in a common folder with tons of other artists, and have to do it in properties of the file, make genre, etc. all the exact same).
Dump stock music player and get DoubleTwist and TCM Music Tag Editor, AMAZING you'll never want to go back
Hope this helps

Has anybody else had issues when playing audio files on their phone either through headphones or through the speaker? When I stream the audio it sounds just fine but when I put the physical audio file on my phone is pops and clicks.
My Phone:
At&t SGS3
No Root/Stock IOS
Here is what I have tried so far:
-Placed audio file on internal SD card.
-Placed audio file on external SD card.
-Tried multiple music players.
-Tried different headphones and used the speaker.
-Verified that the audio file does not have pops and clicks when playing on other devices or streaming to my phone via "Play Music"
Thoughts suggestions? Bad phone? Default my phone and start over ;( ?

I have the same issue however mine is limited to PowerAmp music app. In my case, I learned that certain albums have this issue and that when I listen to them in the stock music player and Ubermusic (another music app in the Play Store) I had no popping sound. For my issue, I have a theory that the only music that pops is the music I copy over from my iTunes library. I have music stored in two locations c:/Music and c:/Music/iTunes/iTunes media/iTunes Music, only the albums copied over from iTunes directory have resulted in popping. With my last phone, Droid Incredible, I did not have any popping issues so I know the problem is on Samsung's end. I even emailed the dev for Poweramp and they believe the issue lies with Samsung since other users notice this issue in multiple music apps.
I've been trying to listen to music in my spare time from work to see if there is any pattern to the issue.
Well I've had the issue even in the tune in radio app. Went to sprint and they ordered an exchange for Tuesday. Had to unroot of course.

Did you think it is the way that iTunes converts the music? All of my music is stored in iTunes, I will have to rip an album not in iTunes and see if that fixes it. From the responses, it might sound more like a software bug than a hardware issue.

Let us know if the new phone fixes the issue...
FYI: I only ever hear popping and clicking when my USB cable is plugged into my noisy computer, and not my A/C charger, or when unplugged. I hope you're not returning the phone for this reason...
This happened to me using power amp pro. Is it an annoying buzz every now and then? If so that's what I had. I emailed the developer and he gave me some instructions on how to tweak the advanced settings and it fixed it for me. I'm not sure if it will be the same for the other players however it is worth a shot! Also It happened to most my songs but there would be the odd one that wasn't affected. I don't use itunes at all for my music so I can confirm that is not the cause.
Settings => Audio => Advanced Tweaks => Audio Thread Priority. Change it to +2 or the highest.
(if it still does it on +2 switch it to the highest)
Hope it works for you guys too!
My phone doesn't pop or crack but you can hear the static/hiss/white noise when something is being played. If the music/video is paused the sound goes away. But when the audio starts to play, you can hear the hiss on low volume but will go away on high (probably cause the actual audio is overwhelming the hiss).
Is this a hardware issue as well? It's a bit annoying when you have for example a piano playing, acoustic guitar, or some soft background/vocal going on cause the hiss can be very well heard in those situation but disappears when a lot of elements of music are mixed.
I'm having issues when playing back music on my HTC one using the stock music player. The playback works fine for a couple of tracks but then the music just keeps skipping on to the next track. The skipping is infinite and won't stop. Even after I kill the app and try to restart the music, the skipping continues. I'm forced to reboot the device and kill all apps running on the phone to stop the skipping, however, even after the reboot when I restart the music player, after a few songs the problem continues. In my search for a fix of the issue I've noticed this to be an issue on the HTC one x. I've tried the disable auto play app as well as trying to use the phone in airplane mode but neither of those fixes have helped. This issue occurs when I'm using the stock headphones and the stock music player. This phone has been otherwise great but I do use my phone as a music player with headphones so I'm hoping someone here can help me out or if not I'm wondering if I should try and have it replaced under warranty since the phone is less than a month old. Thanks in advance for the assistance with this issue.
