Tough luck , that you received a 2.2.1 device . If you do want to root and get into business you have to downgrade to 2.2 through what I would recommend KDZ ( V10B is a good firmware ) .

thanks... started off now...
DOWNGRADE : check (now on 2.2 , soft version: V10b-OCT-02-2010)
ROOTING : check (used my favorite SuperOneClick v1.7-shortfuse and RageAgainstTheCage attack)[apparently was getting stuck at psneuter attack ]
CUSTOM RECOVERY : check (i dont get it why u guys are worrying so much abt android sdk... u just need 3 files for ADB to work adb.exe | AdbWinApi.dll | AdbWinUsbApi.dll thats it... no need to download whole SDK and then further do repo downloads )
now need help with ROMS & KERNELS... from wht i have been reading u need to WIPE SDCARD to install ROMs??? why? for A2SD? doesnt Froyo+ android version already support app2sd? i dont want to partition my sdcard (use it on many devices)... can i still install custom ROMs available here?
i want a stable / low battery hogging ROM... 2.3 preferred (although 2.2 will also do) which can support custom kernels
i see some undervolted and overclocked kernels available... excited to try them out...
any suggestions on these?
thank you all for ur help!!!
Sdcard wipe is necessary only if using an ext partition. Some ROMs need it, some not.
There are 0 kernels with undervolting.
You should test a Froyo ROM and then a Gingerbread one to see the differences.
Good luck !
Agreed with badeaioan.
You should try a custom Froyo based ROM before anything else and that's because once you get to a GB ROM you will not want to go back.

[Q] about upgrading & downgrading

i haven't got the machine yet, i dont find the tutorials available are noob-friendly and something about upgrading & downgrading are not clearly mentioned, maybe it's just because i am a little bit retarded.
if im not mistaken to install custom froyo rom from the stock 2.1:
stock 2.1->root->recovery->install rom, right?
So how do i get back to stock 2.1?
Is it useful to backup stock 2.1 using the recovery?
When i want to get back to 2.1 from froyo can i just restore my backup through recovery or i need any flashtool?
PLease help me
I dont know why you moving to 2.1 ROM when you can get amazing future on custom rom.
But you if decided then search for stock ROM 2.1 in forum it will be in .zip format (I got once but forgot link) OR go to SE web site choose your device & follow instation process with the help of SE PC suite.
Hope this is useful.

New Baseband ROMs

What ROMs are using new baseband? i dont want downgrade to old one. Now iam using OpenOptimus, but there is some bugs in it. Like MIUI Music crashes and camera flickering. I realy like that Xperia themed ROM but that is old baseband
only modified LG rom's have new baseband - pure gingerbread roms like CM7 or Phoenix rom uses old baseband because its a technical desaster to recode all that things for new
baseband.
// end of developer statement
Among ROMs based on new baseband i found OPENOPTIMUS as the best.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208215
I used both basebands and found no difference as far as call quality is concerned. So better to downgrade baseband as you will have more roms supported.
downgrading baseband is risky thing and i cant find easy solution for that. onyl kdz updater and stock firmware. but then i lost custom recovery too

I did it many times and didnt find any problems doing it.
(unless u r doin it on pc n there is a power cut)
you can follow picture guide here for downgrading baseband
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504
IF not this install cm7 mik's rom and new baseband patch with this you can have gsm working but not data.
For flashing stock rom and stock recovery you can try this without kdz(if u r afraid of it like me)
follow "cook your custom rom" till step 2
cook your custom rom- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901417
(disable lg modem before start)
Now start lgmdp and
select port
select image folder the created "stockrom" folder
Now uncheck "recovery image" option (to have custom recovery retained & check to have stock recovery)
then download.
(donot disconnect untill it shows download complete)
Note: i didnot test it , but i think it should work.
tnx, iam going to try that out

[Q] flash guide?

Hi
im new to android ..
i own a ideos u8150.........and i have rooted it with z4 root
I also have managed to install clock world mod 3.0.2.4 i flashed it through pc (works perfectly)
now i want to change my stock rom ..i' heard ideos HD and droniX are good roms
i'd like to install droniX 0.6 raw ginger ..
but can anyone help me in flashing the rom i need a guide..
also how can i make full backups so i can revert to my stock rom anytime i want..
Does switching to custom roms affect baseband of my mobile ..
because of a picture i saw in a blog that says "baseband version :unknown" in mobile settings .
i have been a apple user and to jailbreak you need to preserve your basebands so is there anything like that in android
i have also read that after flashing dorinX .6 many see a black screen ..how can i prevent that..
i've also installed rom mangaer free version from market but its useless because everytime press any option it tells me to install colckworld mod and when i press install a list of phones comes up but u8150 is not in the list only 7 options.......
Thankyou
Any one......
comon cant any one help me out............................
How u install a new rom, there are many Threads in the forum ...
For a Backup with CWM.
You can make a full backup with CWM.
Boot into CWM Recoverry an make Nandroid backup.
Or install RomManager from the Market, start it and search the option to make a backup.
This is the answer to all your problems
This is a Kenyan blog with information on how to flash any version of Dronix. The process is the same. I use Dronix 0.6.
Google 'Alex the African How to ROM Dronix onto Huawei Ideos U8150'
You'll be good.

Rooting Discussion

Hello Guys I'm using LG OPTIMUS ME rooting the original firmware is impossible by the normal apps gingebreak z4root unlockroot superoneclick all of the failed
I rooted it before by flashing custom rom or custom firmware (but when I flashed custom gingerbread the battery cannot stay 15 hours)
and when I flashed another firmware which made for this device I loose the RTL support
so I have 2 solution
1- Root the current firmware(but I don't know how) is there any method by adb or fastboot we can say root manually
2- I can flash another firmware then I want a method for full support for RTL
So Can Any One Help Me ????
How many custom ROMs out there that support your phone? 2?
How many custom kernel for your phone?
Have you tried all?
Have you discuss about battery life in "your phone" forum?
I think miui and cyanogen only and arc xp which is better??
i don't know about kernels(my kernel is 2.6.32.9 [email protected] desktop #3)
My phone doesn't have forum
