It seems like you are playing alot with your x10 After few cicles of charge-discharge the battery should last longer.

thanks all

After I flashed my phone from AT&T's Android 1.6 build to Sony Ericsson X10a generic 2.1.A.0.435, I did the following:
1. Rooted the the phone.
2. Moved the following APK files out of the /system/app directory:
backupandrestore.apk
chinesetextinput.apk
creatouch-wvga.apk
JapaneseIME.apk
moxiermail.apk
neoreader.apk
officesuite.apk
OMAClientProvisioning.apk
PcCompanion.apk
playnowappinstaller.apk
playnowback.apk
playnowclient.apk
qcsemcservice.apk
quadrapop.apk
SemcCheckin.apk
SEMCSetupWizard.apk
SEMCTouchPalKoreanQWERTY.apk
SetupWizard.apk
Sync.apk
SyncWizard.apk
TimescapeLargeUI.apk
TimescapeLargeUIThemeBlue.apk
TimescapeLargeUIThemeGreen.apk
TimescapeLargeUIThemeIndigo.apk
TimescapeLargeUIThemeOrange.apk
TimescapeLargeUIThemeSakura.apk
TimescapePluginManager.apk
TimeScapeProvider.apk
touchnote.apk
trackid.apk
usersupport.apk
uWlopProvider.apk
wisepilot.apk
3. Made the following changes in Settings:
Wireless & networks:
- Wi-Fi ==> Disabled. Manually enable only for when I need to access the Internet from home or a free, outdoor hotspot.
- Bluetooth ==> Disabled. Manually enable only for when I need to use a headset or speakerphone.
Sound & display:
- Phone vibrate ==> Disabled.
- Haptic feedback ==> Disabled.
- Brightness ==> 50%.
- Screen timeout ==> 1 minute.
Location & security:
- Use GPS satellites ==> Disabled. Manually enable only for when I need to use navigation.
Settings > Accounts & sync:
- Background data ==> Disabled. Manually enable only for when I need to access the Android Market.
- Auto-sync ==> Disabled. I never have need for an auto-sync feature.
- Manage accounts ==> Sync is OFF for my Gmail account. I perform manual syncs whenever I access Gmail from the phone.
4. Installed APNdroid to disable my 3G connection, using it to enable it back only when I'm out with no WiFi access. Even when the app disables all APNs, MMS continues to work.
5. Installed Advanced Task Killer to clean things up from time to time.
6. Installed the JIT (Just In Time) complier.
7. Edited the /system/build.prop file to add in the following lines:
dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m ==> Brings better cache management
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit ==> Actually, just ensure this line gets added in after installing JIT. If it's not there, manually add it.
My minimal-use battery test results were the following:
- [Before changes] 100% charge to between 15% and 10% ==> about 72 hours
- [After changes] 100% charge to 15% ==> over 102 hours!
Also, with the installation of the JIT compiler and removing some of the apps that frequently tended to run by themselves, my Lipack benchmark scores jumped from pathetic lows of 3s and 4s to respectable upper-20s and lower-30s. Quadrant scores jumped from the low-500s to a decent 700-range.
I'm really blown away at how much battery life can be squeezed out as long as you're diligent about managing it.

Battery life

Hi Everyone,
is it just me or since flashing your phone battery life is not that long?
i own x10a, i running not timescene stuff all wifi, gmail, email is all turned off. I just run the bare minimum hardly place games. use it to only text message and make calls and i just fully charged my phone last night and now it already used 1/4 of the battery from 5 text messages this morning. the phone is brand new. just got it last thursday. any ideas?
- reduce display brightness and time to turn off
- disable power-hungry features (wifi, gps, bluetooth, even gsm at certain time) - you can do that automatically using tasker and his 'wifi near', 'gsm cell near' action contexts
- use SetCPU to dynamically scale processor speed, it is probably enabled by default but setcpu gives you a way to configure it. rooting needed.
also, reducing cpu usage can help reduce battery usage:
- edit autostart and disable programs that you dont need to have in memory (for example, i dont know why titanium backup places in the autostart and is loaded, and no feature of it is needed for me in realtime so i disabled it)
- task killers can *probably* help by automatically cleaning up programs that reside in memory after using them. i think that some poorly written apps can use CPU even in background and even when they do nothing

hi thanks for the reply, yes i now notice when i reduced my brightness it has stoped chewing battery. when i get SetCPU will that allow me to configured the autostart application on my xperia x10?
i dont really know what you mean.
SetCPU sets cpu clock downsteping on specified profiles (for example display off - set cpu 284 mhz to 384 mhz)
Autostart managers allow removing programs that put themselves on autostart, like on ms windows you know . of course you can always launch them later with your touch )
type "autostart" on android market to browse and see what they can do.
SetCPU is either on market or XDA x10 forums - use forum search.
good luck!

Hi Devein,
sorry i am still having an issue with this application i power up the app and asks me to select my phone, i select auto detec because my phone is not listed, then it has a green scroll bar in the middle, i do not know how to setup profiles. and set this autostart manager you talk about.
thanks.
I figured it out thanks.
No problem: D
i am really disappointed though with the battery life of the x10. such an short battery life compared to what was stated.
Something weird has happened to my phone.. I was getting easily 16 hours off 60% charge.. then in the last 3-4 days it's dive bombing.. I'm down to 63% remaining from full charge after 5 hours... and haven't used it a lot..
Tried removing any new apps I've installed this week.. and also switched mobile data off as I've noticed that I've started getting a weak 3G signal at home and thought this might be the problem.. but doesn't seem to have slowed it down..
I'm on R2BA026 and not rooted.. I've not changed anything else..
Tempted to do a FDR it's that bad.. but I know that I'll get the 2.1 update in the next 2 weeks so really don't want to have to go through the pain of setting it all up again and then have to do it again when 2.1 lands!
The problem seems to have started when I did a test of using Moxier to get Hotmail Push.. but I've got rid of that now, and have cleared all the moxier data..
Confused!. Anyone?
(EDIT - Fixed it - for some reason Moxier still had data in it.. so deleted the data within App management and it's been ok since)
Check out my tutorial on getting the most out of Xperia X10 battery.
Most of the things have already been pointed out above. But, you still might come across a few tips not covered here in my tutorial.
As with iceman, most of the time it's some naughty app that causes all the trouble.

[Q] Battery drain: blame it on Google Inc?

My CM7 u20i has a 20% nightly drain, even with WF, BT, GPS and whichever drain mongers turned off.
After extensive reading (and trying) on the issue and analysing all kinds of near voodoo reasoning, I decided to peek into real OS activity - the ultimate place to see what's going on. OS Monitor showed me some interesting issues, in the case its ps functionality works as expected.
My attention was first caught by the constant activity of Google Backup Transport process, accounting from CPU loads varying from 1 to 14%(!), rarely 0%, even though I never use cloud backup - in any case, in any of my devices. No can do.
The other significant mistery is the existence of a log that holds 1945 entries generated in the mere past 9 minutes. This intensive logging policy is something I myself would implement (#define switch) at pre-release phase, but just for debugging sake - never letting it slip into production environment. Does Google Inc still considers Android to be at beta phase? ;-)
Look at my signature for a battery drain thread. It's for X8's with 2.3 ROMs but you could try it anyway.
Google backup transport is related to syncing with Google. It automatically backs up your contacts etc to Google severs, just disable it in: Settings > Acccounts and Sync (and then disable background data
Some update, some more evidences
A closer look at OS Monitor output revealed hundreds (yes, hundreds, maybe reaching thousand scale) of sequential log entries tagged as [ERROR], as for the lightsensor being turned off. Seems a strange use of polling cycles [see attachment].
An even closer look shows a row of... bingo!, debug messages [see attachment]. Lots of them there.
As I forgot to mention it on the previous post, my detailed setup as for a 16 hours test period is:
Background data: no (Auto-sync and Market follows as "no", also)
Heptic feedback: not at all
Vibrate during/when...: none
OC: no (standard 614MHz)
Wallpaper: a black pic
Auto brightness: off
Animated wallpaper/other sort of animations: never
Task killers: not at all (not worth mentioning negative drawbacks)
GPS: off
BT: off
WiFi: off
2G/3G: off
Alerters, daemons and monitors (other than Lookout and OS Monitor): none
Screen timeout: 15 secs
Er... I've just found out I turned my smartphone into a GWBushphone, with much less battery life than my old Nokia 5130 (six days, heavy call usage, some texting).
@Chris95X8: Thanks for the hint. Will sure give it a look.
@coversnail: I came back to post an update and read your reply. I was already aware of the Accounts and Sync settings - my update includes it - but I thank you for your reply.
I was wondering, since I don't sync with Google, can't just uninstall the damn app ?
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
Generally speaking, it's more sensible to freeze an app than to uninstall it - Titanium Backup is my choice for doing this. In the case you end up messing your device, by unfreezing the app you restore all initial conditions of both the app and the associated system data. No harm done.
In the situation at hand you may want to simply turn off automatic sync: Settings > Accounts & sync > Auto-sync [off]. It's safer, besides being a system managed solution.
Always have in mind that uninstalling a system app is like walking along the edge of a cliff...
Solved for me
If you are rooted, you can navigate to: root/system/app/ -> search for GoogleBackupTransport.apk and rename it to (for example) GoogleBackupTransport.apk.disabled
Now it won't keep your CPU high or your device awake
Good luck to ya all

No can do. Battery won't last 24 hours, even w/o usage. Hundreds of log messages still being generated.

Xperia S battery tweaking

I am getting bad battery performance and I want to disable and even totaly uninstall few stock packages which I am sure I will not need any time.
So far what I have done.
Synchronize set to Manuall
Closing applications that I am not using
Disabled Live wallpaper
Set phone to GSM only (2G)
Uninstalled Mccafee
Disabled LTE via HTC Thunderbolt (not sure it worked or not but message showing it is disabled)
Disabled Google + and Exchange service
Removed all widgets
Disabled NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, Data network etc.
Disabled keypress tones and keypress vibrations
Set brightness to 30%
Disabled Bravia Engine
What else I can do to improve battery life.
Few peoples also suggest to remove some programs such as bloadwares, foursquare, photo viewer, moving wallpaper, facebook integration, twitter integration, photo and movie integration etc.
I also noticed alot of other programs are also auto starting even when I close them such Google+, Maps, Search, Play store etc. I also don't need alot of other things such as LiveWire, NFC and other stcock packages.
Would be better if there is any Clean or Vanilla ROM for Xperia S available. Also suggest me best Task Manager and Battery tool I am currently using Go Power Master and Task Manager.
Note: Noticed that System is consuming more then 80% of battery (ICS Settings > Battery) is it normal?

if u want a custom rom that saves battery u can use cyanogenmod or aokp.. cyanogenmod is about fully functional but aokp is not,
there is a rom called ka sspeed it does save battery but not like the vanilla based formers..
i also suggest u use battery saving softwares like juice defender or what i prefer greenpower.. they work while the phone is asleep (or u are as greenpower has night mode) and disconnect all connections or connects them intervally..
there is a tweak that i personally havent tried yet called PIMP MY ROM.. the majority say its good but i cant give opinions here..
for me i use ka sspeed from krabappel with greenpower premium and it gives me good battery life.. like 20 hours on daily use but without 3g!

[GUIDE] BEST BATTERY SAVING setup tips one can find

I have seen a lot of people not getting batter battery life on AOKP, AOSP, CM, HYBRID or STOCK ROMs....
So I thought of setting up this step by step guide to set up the phone with very good battery life.
1. Flash the ROM that you would like to use. (AOKP,AOSP, CM, HYBRID or even STOCK)
2. After flashing the rom, reboot the phone and set it up.
3. If your custom Kernel supports any of the following settings than it will be good as well
CPU & GPU - Undervolt 100mV (If your phone can handle it, I have done it since day one never had problems. )
CPU IDLE MODE - AFTR + LPA
Zram - you can use swap partition on Sd Card or swap file. both are great.
Governer settings - FREQ_LIMIT_SLEEP - 500 Mhz
4. IF YOU ARE USING 4.3+ ROM than - Go to Settings>wifi>Options>Advance> UNCHECK "Scanning always available". Also uncheck NFC services in settings.
5. If you are not using location services all the time than you can do the following as well and you can enable the location services whenever you need them.
Go to GOOGLE SETTINGS APP>Location> UNCHECK "Access Location"
google settings app>maps & lattitude. UNCHECK "report from this device"
6. Install SYSTEM TUNER PRO with GREEN ICON from market.
This is the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw.pro
7. Follow the guide in my video. The link is below: It will remove useless wakelocks from apps like google wallet, google talk, google plus, IF YOU ARE NOT USING THEM.

8. Install Greenify and Greenify Donation. Links are below:
You need to install XPOSED FRAMEWORK for the Donation app to work.
Greenify: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
Greenify Donation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify.pro
Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541
9. Greenify all user apps and some of the system apps.
System apps that I have greenified:
google contacts sync
google play services
network location
nfc service
android keyboard
bluetooth share
browser
calender storage
cell broadcast
certificate installer
com.google.android.voicesearch
DRM protected content storage
exchange services
google account manager
google bookmark sync
google partner setup
google search
google text to speech engine
html viewer
key chain
market feedback agent
media storage
one time init
org.codeaurora.bluetooth
package access helper
package installer
pico TTS ( I use IVONA Voices)
10. Install 3G/4G Optimizer Pro and go to additional tweaks and check all the 4 of them and than reboot the phone.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=provision.netspeed.optimizer.pro
We need pro version because it has some additional tweaks for wifi scan, RILS, TCP which saves battery a lot.
11. This step is going to take few minutes of observation.
In the new greenify app there is an option to CUT the connection of the app that is waking up the services.
Now for example,
I am using swift key keyboard not the android keyboard that comes with the rom, but android keyboard also wakes up GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES and keeps it running, so I cut the wake-up path. So now android keyboard will not wake-up GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES.
SO you need to find out which apps are waking-up the system apps and cut the wake-up paths IF THE APP IS NOT IMPORTANT.
12. Go to setting>MORE> DISABLE NFC Services.
13. Download ROM tools box pro
Go to build.prop Editor
change the value of PM Sleep mode>to 1
If you dont have this line than add it.
And Reboot.
-screen time 3 Hrs with 60% brightness
-Mobile Data, Sync and Bluetooth on around 7 Hrs 30 Mins
-Battery Drain during Night for around 8.30 PM to 6.00 AM - 3% to 4%
CREDIT goes to all of the developers of ROM, MODs, and APPs...

Alarms in Better Battery Stats - Help!

Hello,
I have a Mi note 10 Lite (unrooted) that I have tried to set in order to avoid any battery drainage. The phone is pretty new, so I don't have many Apps installed (WhatsApp, Spotify and few others. No FB, instagram etc yet).
- Naptime with aggressive doze is installed;
- No auto-sync whatsover
- No automatic backyp
- Block ads via nextdns.it
- Position history, wifi scan etc is all disabled
- all apps ore optimized in the battery settings
- Already tried to wipe Google play serivces' cache, than to unistall updates and wipe again. I have also disabled the ability to change system settings (even if it keeps coming back on after a while);
- Set LTE/WCDMA in the hidden 4636 menu (I do it every time I reboot my phone);
- Removed MSA authorisation,
- Disabled MIUI optimisation
- did a lot of similar things and in-app optimisation (no tracking/history in Google maps, no Play safe, no personalised adv in MIUI apps) etc etc
Everything I could do without rooting my phone is done. I am not using it intensively (still as a 2nd phone till I can get this drainage sorted), so I use it only for some WhatsApp and online articles (with mint browser).
With Naptime I was able to reduce the screen off drainage (now it's -2% overnight), but Google Play services is always at the top of my battery chart. I installed BBS and I don't have worrysome Partial wakelocks, but I do have a lot of alarms from Google and Android:
BBS
Google-BBS
Android-BBS
Can you please take a look at these screenshot and tell me what should I do?
