What is the best ROM in terms of battery performance? I'm running Bionix with Overstovk and battery isn't that great. I'm actually considering going back to stock 2.2 if it offers the best battery performance. Thanks!

Been asked many times. Did you recondition your battery? Your phone will vary on different roms. I would try a couple of the more popular ones and see.
You can also change it by modem and or kernel choices no matter what rom you choose...its all different for every one

I've been using bionix with overstock for two months now and have conditioned my battery multiple times.
You say modemm, I know KA5 is good in terms of battery. How can I install that?

And how is Stock 2.2?

I would check out the ROM called Toxic Heroes Presents Toxic FF SMoke. I have been using this rom for a few days and i can attest to the battery life. I got got 17 hours with heavy to moderate usage throughout the day and still had 50 percent battery life left. I have also had bionix and atriarc and both of them had gopod battery life. Also alot of depends on ur modem, kernel combo. For example i use the KB1 modem and right now have overstock 2.2 and getting great batt life.
Also i have used KB1 modem with supercurios stock KB1 kernel with voodoo on bionix v 1.3.1 and also had great battery life with it as well. Also depends on where you live as well hope this helps a little
If your jumping from edge to 3g alot that'll drain. Your battery. If you leave wifi on all the time and are going in and out of buildings or places in general that have wifi its constantly scanning and trying to connect. Hell, when im driving down the road mines trying to connect to houses that have it. The radio is a big thing though. (Or so I've read all over the forumns)

I think all of them are about the same. xtrSense is nice if you want the stock feel but without the bugs or lag.
The froyo Roms get good battery life with theright apps and settings. If you go froyo o suggest getting toggle2g as it greatly helps my battery life.

A while back when the Vibrant was solely on 2.1, I was running on Bionix Fusion v1.0 along with the JI2 modem. With that combination, I was getting some pretty amazing battery life on the order of 65% remaining after two and a half days of light usage. Now, after upgrading to 2.2 (on Obsidian), my battery life has significantly dropped—just idling over night, the battery loses about 15% of its charge.
Is there any way to regain that awesome battery life or is this just a side effect of having the latest and greatest?
All 2.2 roms are known for excessive battery drain
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Just out of curiosity—will that always be the case or will things start to change as people adopt the new official 2.2 as a base for their ROMs?
Its because the speed boost in froyo, but there are plenty of tips on how to save battery

Not really.
I am using bionix v and people are reporting 20+ hours of battery life using the battery left widget.. and when using my battety left widget (nearly fully calibrated) it tells me I have 9 hours left.. what's the deal? Is this a battery issue, and could I need a replacement. I have had battery issues with nearly all of my roms in the past. I guess it could be a conditioning issue. Please help

I just flashed mine on Sunday and charged it overnight. I ended up getting just under 42 hours of life out of it without doing to battery recondition.

Not possible by someone who actually uses there phone. I never thought I was a heavy user but seeing replies like above I have to be past the definition of heavy user. With my extended battery I could get 2.5 days on a single charge.
Im also having battery drain with bionix newest rom. Nothings changed in my day-day usage. probably flash another modem or something.
I think I might switch to stock froyo if things don't get better. Or just order a new battery. Because it just drops like a rock. And im using watchdog but it doesn't really help that much. Or could someone with experience with battery drain guide me on how to stop it from happening?

Something tells me you have a bad battery if you've always had battery issues. Did you get your phone from T-Mobile? If so call them and tell them your battery is bad--they should send you a new one for free.

I flashed on saturday and started having issues with the battery on monday. On tuesday my battery drained in less than 5 HOURS! I reconditioned the battery and added juice defender @ 5 this morning. I just plugged in my charger about 20 minutes ago. Went down to 5%.

Yes I got it from t-mobile but I have not used stock long enough to see whether it was just a rom issue. I have only flashed team whiskeys roms and they seem to kill my battery. Nero v3 was the best but still wasn't great. I leave around 6:30 in the morning and maybe use the phone to get on xda, engadget, facebook, etc for about 1 hour, But my battery drops like a rock when I do this. And ever since bionix v it has only gotten worse. From that one hr of usage it drops 40 percent. Is hsdpa that big of a battery-killer? Because on wifi it seems to do a little better. Idk if this is just a network issue or what? Like right now it dropped 2 percent just from typing this up. brightness is less than half and everything is set to manually refresh. Wth?

Had terrible battery life as well with bionix v. Double checked to see if anything was running in the background and reconditioned my battery. Even then I was still getting atrocious battery life. Oh well I ended up switching back to axura which imo offers great performance and battery life. Not saying TW roms are bad (nero v3 was amazing) give Masters axura a shot if you haven't.

My battery life isn't that great. I am going to turn off lagfix and see if there is any improvements.
I don't think lag fix had anything to do with battery that much, all it sites is change the filesystem right? And with bionix v I got over 24hrs battery

Well I think I finally conditioned correctly, and watchdog is notifying me about programs that are using lots of of cpu. So I'll see how today goes. 9:00 AM right now. Let's see how long it takes to die
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Seems to be dying much faster in standby mode
Edit: nevermind it seems to be doing well enough for the time being. Talked on the phone for 1 hour, texted, and went on xda and engadget. It is at 70%. On standby mode it ia doing loads better after reconditioning. Does losing 30% to doing stuff like that sound about right? Battery left says I have 7 hours 58 min remaining

They all do. The best thing you can do is leave it hooked up all day and use it as little as possible. Actually, I have not used any of these yet but I hear pretty good reviews for Juice defender & Startup Auditor both found on the market.
I just don't want to use one of those apps because I used juice defender and it turned off my 3g to save power, and it never ever came back on. Even after I reboot it didn't go on. So I had to flash back to an earlier rom.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Custom Roms drain battery even more than stock ones do? WTF? The most important reason why Im intending to install one is the ****ty battery life on my Vibrant that the Froyo stock update only made it worse.
Is there any extended battery for the vibrant out?!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
With most of the custom ROM's out there you should get about 15 to 20 hrs of battery life. Trigger and Auxura will get you 20 to 25. Those numbers are with normal use. If you're talking, texting, watching You Tube and playing Angry Birds all day you're gonna kill your battery alot quicker.
So trigger's rom is more battery efficient than that of bionix?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It certainly seems like it to me, although I believe that I installed Overstock 1.4 incorrectly when I tried to flash it after I put Bionix on there (receiving horrible battery life), whereas I used the .zip for Trigger that included Overstock already. Not sure if it was that or simply due to the difference in Roms. I don't usually have 3g and wifi on when I'm not using it, but even with frequent texting I get about 40ish hours total according to Battery left.
Cool, then Trigger it is.
Trigger and Bionix give approximately the same battery life if using overstock kernel.
And by that you mean preserving the stock kernel when flashing the custom Rom, right? Im a noob in this you know
Na, it's called "Overstock Kernel" it comes with trigger by default, so you'd just leave it for that. However, you'd need to download it for Bionix and first flash the rom, reboot, and then flash the kernel.
Easy way to save battery, when not using data is to put your phone on the edge network instead of 3g, phone works great on edge. you only need 3G for data use
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
So, time to install trigger?!

Wait, where do I find it?!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I am using the current Trigger w/ OverStock 1.4. I am lucky to get 12 hours!! How in the world are people getting 20+ hours with normal use?!?!? I do not play games often, I do not use WiFi, I maybe send out 5-10 texts a day, so what am I doing wrong?
Dood, where did you find the trigger download?!

I had similar issues as you did. Bionix would drain battery much faster. Tried trigger 2.7.2 and the battery life is much better now. Not sure what the difference is, but it sure seems to last much longer. I do not have any overstock kernels.

Thanks for your suggestions
I got 40-48hrs multiple times with light to moderate use on bionix V 1.3.2 and nextgen v2 with bali 1.8.5uv. Testing it on Trigger now.
Anything with the Bali 1.8.4/1.8.5UV kernel.

Im using GB roms right now, and im very pleased with the battery life on M.I.U.I using Platypus Revolutions Kernel and the modem KB5. Im getting more than 15 hours, wich its great comming from CM7's 4-5 hours...
im getting great results with Trigger 3.2 and Bali 1.8.5 combo
