when it comes out, hd2 will have a problem, becaus the camera buttin (green call button) can't be "half pressed".

i browes the registry of the wm2k5 in XDA2 O2, i figured out that that there is no registry for the camera and record button,. can we add up reg for camera and rec button

and those shortcuts are pointing to RAI assignments.
it would be better to write an application, which will unmap rec and cam buttons from system and remap them to itself... so if you press that button, this app will capture keypress event and will run camera or notes...

So have you tried with RegisterHotkey API? Here is a simple application that reregisters all hardware buttons to its window, and if you press hardware buttons a messagebox should pop up with hardware key id. Anybody can try it with non working buttons? ( I haven't upgraded my device yet ) I tried it on my wm2k3SE device and with Win Mobile 5 emulator in Viusal Studio 2005. ( It worked )
If it's working then I think it is possible to write an application as background process to start camera and notes application with windows API. If it's not working and doesn't show anything if you press CAM/REC, then it must be a driver issue (

It works great on my Himalaya with WM5 1.60a installed. But even without this sw my Himalaya dont have any problem with the Record and camera buttons. Try it.
I use this basically to:
- Unmap all the buttons including the Green and Red Button, and the Volume slider.
- Remap the Volume Slider to Up and Down keys.
- Remap the Green and Red Buttons as Left and Right Softkeys. This way you can access WM5 apps soft menu using only the buttons and the biderectional pad.
- Any other key you can map to anything you want.
because some device have problem with this two buttons and with or without this software they still dont work
Ok i have the call button (green one ), the red buttom (cancel a call) and the windows button that presses start..and the messaging button..as well as the volume button..
Is there a way to configure these so that it will work with some of my game
for example in tetris when i try to assign the call button to a specific button it wont respond (same goes for the red one)
on playstation 1 emulator the call button, red button and the windows button as well as the volume button doesnt work as well
when u go settings..buttons u cant configure what these buttons can do...its really weird :/ (theres like camera/mesaging but u cant configure the green calling/red calling/menu buttons)

I've got a problem with my wired remote (w100) in combination with HTC audio manager. When I want to skip a song using the wired remote it unlocks my phone, resulting in pressing several buttons. When I use the same remote with HTC audio manager with the Kaiser (using DSC 1.5 rom) this problem never occures and the phone keeps locked. Could someone please help me with this problem?

I have the same problem. Whenever I use my wired remote I have to press the power button on my phone to turn of the screen. S2U2 won't even stay above the audio manager. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a HTC P3600 (Trinity) with WM5, and have just bought the W100 wired remote. I use PointUI Home ( http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx ) which has a built-in screen lock.
But when I used the remote (play/pause, skip song and so on) together with Windows Media Player it would make WMP come into the foreground and stay there, so that the buttons could be pressed. I tried to install S2U2, but experienced the same problem.
Then I found out, that if I use the default device lock in WM5, I can still use the remote without bringing WMP into the foreground.
So I installed Matt Armstrong's DeviceLock ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261277 ). It is a small utility that, when executed, puts on the default WM5 device lock. I assigned DeviceLock to a hardware button and ... voila!
Now I can start a song in WMP, activate the default WM5 device lock by pressing the hardware button to which I assigned DeviceLock, and use the remote. It will still bring WMP into the foreground BUT the default WM5 device lock must be unlocked before I can press any buttons on the screen.

PS: I also assigned the DeviceLock to the lock icon in PointUI Home so I can start it from here. Let me know if you need help to do this.
You should only install S2U2 and enable option "Lock when device wakes on" and set option "Power off in" to 5 sec. All functionality of hands free RC W100 preserved! Screen of your PDA will be turned off and buttons will be locked.
Ok, so loving my HTC S740 after changing from Qtek 8500. I know to initiate keylock you have to hold down the End Key for 2 seconds, but I am used to just closing my Qtek 8500 after a call to lock it. I also know you can activate auto keylock, but I need to keep my keys open sometimes. I would like to be able to just short press the Camera button to Keylock the phone. I have got as far as remapping the Camera button by changing the shortcut Short_Camera.lnk. Tried it by renaming Internet Explorer shorcut and it works! So far so good. But what shortcut to use or how to setup a shortcut for keyLock to remap to Short_Camera.lnk.
I know this sounds really petty, but can't wait and hold the End Key for 2 seconds every time!

I don't know if it's possible by clean way without installing anything, but I have done this by assigning one harware button to 'turn off display' in AE Button Plus (which also locks keypad)
btw, I really like behaviour of some touchscreen htc devices where is device switched to standby by upper hardware button, and no other button can wake up device. It would be great to set up my S740 this way - anyone know if it is possilbe somehow?
I come from a G1 where the Dialer, the End Call, and the Camera all had dedicated buttons. I feel like the Vibrant would be so much better if it had these. I'd like to develop an app or simply code something myself that we could flash as an update but I don't know where to start as I am not a developer though I wish I could be.
Pretty much this is how I would map everything:
Menu: Menu
(Long Press) = Dialer
Home: Home Screen
(Long Press) = Recent Applications
Back: Back
(Long Press) = End Call if making a call/Sleep if not in a call (Could possibly be Voice Search)
Search: Search Function
(Long Press) = End Call if making a call/Sleep if not in a call (Could possibly be Voice Search)
Power Button: Camera
(Long Press) = Power Options (Silent, Power Off, Reboot)
Note: If this is in the wrong section, I apologize and please move it. If you are a developer and like my idea, please to get to me as I'd like to work on it as a project. We could possibly sell it on the market and provide it for free for the people her on xda development.
It'd be awesome if they changed what the power button did when the camera app is up. It makes sense to lock the screen when in camcorder mode so you don't accidentally stop or pause it, but in camera mode it's essentially useless. It'd be awesome if it was changed to a shutter button even if it doesn't have the two stage button.
This phone would be so much better with just a few little modifications.
