[Q] Stuck at bootscreen, What do I do - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Basically I went to flash the alpha kernal through xrec and when I went to reboot my phone it just hangs at the "Sony Ericsson" screen. I cant access xrec either. What do I do? Do I have to use SEUS?

Ok The first thing you have to do is to post in the RIGHT FORUM! What comes to your mind when you see a [Q] in front of a thread? Anything but Development!..
2nd... Yes you'll have to use Seus or the Flash tool. I'll said use the Flash tool first, easier than SEUS....

flash the complete stock rom. search for it and you will find many.

Use this (if you want):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
Flash it with FlashTool.

This happened to me, and flash tool would not work. I had to fudge the darn thing to finally get into flash mode (green LED) Took me quite a while of trial and error hooking up the cord and pulling the battery but I flashed with SEUS and got 2.1 then re-rooted and started all over. Once your stuck like that its a bit of work to get out of the loop.

if your not a dev n00bs shouldnt flash it

I had it to, but xrec works but you must keep trying it on a few boots on mine works with charging the battery then I try to get in to xrec hoppa itworked.

yea I got it to flash with the flash tool. I dont know what happened, when I was flashing the alpha kernal xrec just seized up so I had to restart it and then yea thats where things stopped working.

Need help restoring my phone

So pretty much my phone is not useable atm. when you unlock the phone it goes to a black screen where the only thing you can do is pull down the menu. you cant lock the phone back up or anything. you can also no longer get into xrecovery to flash a new rom onto it or anything. I can still use flashtool but from what I know you can only flash BBs onto the phone.
Does anyone know a way to maybe flash a new ROM onto my phone or restore it from a nandroid or anything?
I think the best way is to restore it with PC Companion to the stock ROM and then root it and put some custom ROM in.

When I try that it says there is no software available for my phone
Hey,
I am having the same issue when trying flash with PC Companion. But am running CM6.1.3 fine for a week now. I wonder what I'm gonna do when I need to go back to stock SE.
Any thoughts?

just use flashtool.... it's the best way to fix any problem.. turn off your phone, let it stay off for a minute or two, and just flash the latest firmware...
you can use flashtool like said in above post from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746&highlight=flashtool
and then I think the best thing is to first flash original ROM from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733&highlight=flashtool
When you have done that use the flashtool to install the latest recovery menu.
And when u have done this you can use the recovery menu to go back to your latest nandroid backup since it is still on your SD
good luck, and sorry if you already know this
Think you already found this but here is it anyway in case you didn't : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Is is guide for the flashtool with stock ROM in the thread.

[Q] [HELP] urgent!!! my sgs2 doesnt boot!! someone help please

ok. i flashed using odin to root the phone but the jerk that wrote the thread said to check the kernel type at the end, i flashed "XWKDD_insecure" and the phone doesnt even boot up, after i press the power the phone details come up with a yellow triangle and it stays there, stuck....and its always like that
the phone is not mine and i dont want to lose any info
i know i can fix it with flashing some other kernel
PS: I am new to sgs2
Calling someone who wrote the guide that you followed a jerk isn't going to go down well. What guide did you follow?
Anyway, what's your exact model number?
Can you get into download mode (volume down+home+power) or recovery mode (volume up+home+power)?
Anyway, if you actually do have an I9100, follow [READ THIS] Got a Boot Loop? Don't post a New Thread!.
No i dont think its a boot loop, the phone doesnt restart, and it doesnt go into recobery mode cuz i didnt even download it, i have an xperia arc , and i thought roothing was the same process, without knowing anything like kernel name, odin...... i simply followed his guide, but that is what i said, he wrote to check the kernel name at the last of the topic, so i tried almost every kernel for the s2 (official ones) and i had the same result with all of them, and then i decided to lose my info by flashing a whole firmware but odin doesnt flash it, it gives an error after flashing the boot.img file, no matter how many times i tried, its the same
The root was to flash a xkdd_insecure and flash back, but my phone didnt even start with the insecure kernel, it displays a yellow triangle with the device name written at top, and it stays like that

i had smiler problem .. 3 months ago..
you can try this method if you want..
go to http://www.sammobile.com/
register with them. and download full pack old firmware.
flash it with odin.
make sure delete old (Odin) and use the one from firmware package.
and also delete cookies/cache's on pc/laptop.
Do just keep flashing kernels ..you need to get your phone back as working order. Then do experiment
this is how i get my SGS2
good luck..
Serves you right imo for not reading start to finish before going off half cocked. Do you have a usb jig? Have you tried entering download mode?

Flashing green LED

Hello,
I have a problem. Yesterday i upgrade my xperia to 4.0.2.A.0.58. At some point the phone is turned off. Now i can't turn it on, the green LED flashes.
Please help.
Did you try to restore it via SE Software?
Flash stock using flashboot!!!

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I have the same problem as the OP had.
My phone is Xperia Mini Pro.
I had CM 7.2 on it. I wanted to go stock, but flashtool didn't work.. So I extracted the FTF file (SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.62_(1251-0103)) and using ADB I flashed kernel.sin and system.sin.
Phone started normally. I didn't wipe any data or cache.
Then I installed KRsH Kernel v3.0 and the wlan_modules.
Then (don't know why) I wiped Dalvik cache..
After a while using, the phone asked for software update. I installed it and phone didn't boot. I wait about 10 mins, and took the battery out.. (USB unplugged)
Put it back in and the phone did nothing when trying to turn it on.
I tried updating with SEUS but it said, "the phone contains modified software that cannot be updated."
I tried flashtool again, and it worked! But after installing, reboot, and keep saying "Device connected in flash mode. Device disconnected. And keeps repeating this.)
I unplugged the USB and when I tried to turn it on, the green light flashed once. If I hold the power button it keeps flashing in interval of 1 sec.
*The light is not as bright as when I plugged the USB cable*
If i plug the USB now the LED turns bright green and I hear the USB connected sound on my PC(win7 64 btw).
Anyting I can do to fix my phone?
Thanks!
le fix
This can be fixed using the free debranding flash Wotan client. just google it as i cannot post links yet.
You have to create an account but this is a service that doesn't require any credits - which I would have been unhappy with. Download the flashing tool and sign in. When you sign up for wotan you get two accounts. The username for the account you sign into in the flash client is just a number. The only way I discovered this was by re-requesting my password on the web page - then it gives you the numeric username.
Make sure your phone has been on charge for at least an hour before doing this - my phone was quite flat first time i tried and it actually failed twice with different errors. Once it was fully charged it worked fine though. I recommend a couple of retries if you get errors.
Just flash it with the latest 4.0.xxx image which takes a couple of minutes and hey presto.
If you have a unlocked bootloader and you update phone firmware over the air(OTA), it gets "bricked".
Relock bootloader(Flash relock_bootloader.ftf file with flashtool) and then install stock ROM with Flashtool or WotanServer.
EDIT: Attached the file.

nood question sir,
since this would relock the bootloader,
in case my phone needs repairs, would the service center detect this???
thanks!
If you have completely stock phone(ROM/firmware, kernel, etc) and relocked bootloader, then they might not notice it.
Don't take it as sure answer, I don't have information about it, so it's a guess.

another question sir,
i found a thread here in XDA about how to flash to stock kernel,
it says there that flashing a stock rom would also flash the stock kernel, is that true?
need your opinion on this, thanks!

Using Wotan server will leave it stocked even the kernel but it will be generic. It's kind of using seus.

Yes will flash stock kernel too cause stock rom contains stock kernel. But you can install a custom kernel after you flash stock rom.Just flash custom kernel you like, of course your bootloader must be unlocked
is the green blinking led is also the indicator for complete charging??

[Q] Help me I bricked my SGH-i717R

Hi I tried to root my phone using this method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218 ) and it left my phone stuck on the reboot. I then tried to flash the stock kernel via odin, and when that didn't work I flashed cwm via odin and then a rogers kernel through cwm and it is still stuck on the rogers logo.......?
could someone help me......?

I see your post count and realize you cannot post in the development section yet. that should not however stop you from reading. maybe you have but you may not have read the whole thread. i know that may seem like a daunting task, it is for me. so what I o is go to the most recent post or last page and start reading backwards. that way I get the most up to date information even on an older thread as you are referring to.
if you did that you would have seen a post from AGOATTAMER.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/how-to-root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
this is also the method I used. believe me, if I can pull it off, anybody can.
more tips..............
make sure you have all the files you need
rehearse the process
I know it sounds crazy, but these phones aint cheap and if you mess it up, can be pretty screwed.
so what is more valuable???? your phone or acting crazy and talking to yourself for a few minutes.
if you can still get download mode, your good, no brick
good luck
You flashed an older incompatible kernel with a newer ROM, but I guess you know that now. Flash the stock ROM found here using odin.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213010140/75bf7e2/I717RUXMD1_I717RRWCMD1_RWC.zip.html
Go into recovery after install and do a factory reset. Then start over. Many have used the link that captemo has mentioned. There are newer versions of recovery than the one listed on that site but it will get you rooted. Look at this thread also. Since you are installing the stock ROM via odin you will not have to deal with the script mentioned here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485336
Just flash twrp with Odin, don't reboot into android, not directly into recovery after the flash finishes...
In recovery wipe data/factory reset.
When you go to boot it'll see you're not rooted and ask if you want to.
The easiest method to root.

Can't Flash any Rom

Greeting Devs & thanks in advance.
My t959 got bricked where it wouldn't go passed the vibrant screen, found a post called ** [GUIDE] FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK + ODIN SUPPORT! N00b Friendly ** followed instructions on it to take it back to stock with Odin, rigth now my phone is running Android 2.1 eclair, rooted and with CWM Recovery version 2.5.1.2. im trying to flash a custom rom and when i go into recovery mode and try to do it, the progress bar at the bottom comes up and when it is at about 10% the phone reboots back to the vibrant screen and wont go passed it so i have to take the battery out put it back in and get the phone into download mode to retake it back to stock using ODIN, so i guess is safe to say that my phone gets bricked whenever i try to install a custom rom so im stuck with eclair wich blows specially after having 4.2.2
my phone got bricked the first time when i was trying to update the rom from SlimBean 4.2.2 Build 7 to Build 8 (had done the process many times and never had a problem) did the usual, put the Rom and the Gapps .rar files in the sd card and performed wipe data/ factory reset only this time i went into mounts and storage and wiped everything that was under there as well (dont know why) so when went to flash the rom it was no longer on the sd card (cause i wiped it) so rebooted my phone and it got stuck on the vibrant screen with i fixed already and my problem now is the one mentioned above
i have browsed the different forums and have tried many different methods to try to fix it for example: have brought it back to stock with Odin also with AIO Vibrant Toolbox and even tried UVKB5_Stock_Heimdall-One-Click wich is a froyo 2.2 that comes with CWM recovery with voodoo lag fix and root. even though all these methods work as far as bringing the phone back to stock i still get the same problem when trying to flash a rom, i also have installed CWM through Rom manager and also through the update.zip file i think im doing everything right and have tried multiple forums yet havent been able to find a forum about this specific issue so decided to create this thread as a last resource
this is my first post and id really appreciate any assitance and if any additional information is needed ill be happy to provide it, thanks in advance

What version of android are the ROMs you are flashing?
are they above or below android 2.3?
and on the same note, do you know what bootloader you have?
some roms 2.3 and above require gingerbread bootloaders.
(an easy way to find out is by figuring out which button combo you have to use to get to recovery)
you might also try re-flashing recovery.

Try flashing a 2.2 rom or below.
if that works you probably just need to flash GB bootloaders before flashing the 4.2 rom (See Below)
if that doesn't work I wouldn't worry about the step below until we figure out why its not working.
To flash GB bootloaders go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990

Flash the rom again instead of going back to stock when it hangs. You have to flash JB roms twice most of the time when you are on stock 2.1, the first flash simply upgrades your recovery mode. Pull the battery after the first flash and boot back into recovery (should be blue now) and flash the rom again.

Glad you figured it out. Just so you you know, your phone says GT-I9000 because you flashed gingerbread bootloaders. They provide better button combinations to recovery and download modes, much easier than stock combos.
