[Q] Should I Unlock first before Debranding and Rooting?

Hi! Newbie here. I have an X10a locked to Rogers.
I plan to do all three to my phone: Unlock, Debrand
and Root. Is there a particular or ideal order on
which one I should do first?
Sorry if this question has already been asked. Thanks!
either or, it doesn't matter dude :-D it will stay unlocked no matter what ROM you put on it, no matter how many different ROMs. but if you want to 'debrand'(no need when you can flash generic ROM) you need to root it.

The real question is when will we get the 2.3 update from at&t. When the official 2.1 came out for the x10 at&t was late by 6months or more. I suggest you spend the time to read and research about using & installing custom roms because eventually a 2.3 custom rom based on official se sources will be available.

Another option is to debrand your phone, which will remove all of the att bloatware by flashing the global generic firmware, which will allow you to get the update as soon as it is released instead of waiting for att to release their version, it took them around eight months to release their 2.1 update. If you aren't comfortable flashing it youself there are sites, like davinciteam.com, that will make it easier for a price.

How do you flash your device to remove all the att crap and id like to be able to overclock my x10a, any help would be great

Flash a custom rom after rooting. If you find that too complex you can use TotalGSM or Davinci to debrand the phone, but they charge.
Debranding from att is easiest by just flashing a generic version with flashtool. Or root google debranding xperia x10 its super easy with root explorer

But how do I get a flash tool to do this?

Do just like hoskopico said, root your phone, buy Root Explorer on the market, and edit the build.prop file to one that can be updated (see how to debrand and the list of updated kits, do a quick search for how to debrand and look under "General" for the roll-up to see what kits are available.).

Can I still install custom roms after update?

Hey everyone,
I did the AT&T stock OTA upgrade to 2.3.4 on my ATRIX.
Will I still be able to load custom roms at a later date? Say when CM7 comes out =)
Or did I just stuck myself into AT&T bloatwareland?
You will need an unlocked bootloader to install ROM's such as CM7.
Lol, I think your question should be... Will cm7 ever come out?

[Q] How to go back from CM7 to Motorola Original ROM of Atrix?

I have a Motorola Atrix from Orange UK. I unlocked the SIM to use it in India, Unlocked the BootLoader and flashed CM7. Now I want to go back to original Motorola ROM. Is it possible, if yes, HOW? Kindly post other links of this procedure if anybody knows about some way to do it.

Look in the stickies section of Atrix development forum. And find the sbf for unlocked bootloader. Or if u just want the blur UI try the Aura Rom. It has a lot of mods but the theme is basically stock.

You will never get brick by flashing/restoring through recovery.

[Q] when to put in goldcard

Hi, i will soon try to root my legend with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223950 and i´m wondering in witch step i has to put my goldcard in to the phone because its not saying when, only create goldcard.
Thanks in advance
When I rooted my legend I made my goldcard then put it in my phone.

Ok thanks, how do i update to android 2.2 after rooting?
Why bother with 2.2? There are other great rom's out there, Goto dev section and have a look.
If you really want to stay with android 2.2 you cannot go past blay0's froyo.
Oh btw follow the guides available on xda for flashing new rom's.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
i would like 2.2 because your able to move apps to sd card, is that able on all custom rooms?
Forget apps2sd, that is the crappy meathod of making more space not every app can be moved either, best method is to partition your SD card to enclude an ext partition then use a2sd or dat2ext,
Blay0's froyo has native a2sd.
I really think you need to do some more reading in the forums. If your going to root your phone then you want to take advantage of the full benefits rooting has to offer otherwise just stick to the stock version of froyo...
Anyway just my opinion.
