Hey, see my video and comments on the youtubes;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksn0...kWMsk5R04udqVqG4tPaPOweoEdRCCkM&feature=inbox
Basically, it seems like some kind of memory allocation issue. You can go a few areas just fine, but going to one too many new areas kills the emulator. Also, I got WORSE performance on 2.0 than I had on 1.1 , and it crashed just as often. At least 1.1 had a smoother framerate.
I'm using a stock MyTouch4g, no software upgrades or patches.
Doesn't IT crash way more in older version I haven't had a crash cus they supposedly fix that problem in this version just freezes almost every time I open the start menu to change items or save

Hi,
I'm experiencing severe problems with 3D-video-playback since I updated to ICS last week: They no longer play fluently.
It happens with ALL 3D-videos. Even the ones recorded with the device (BTW: Playback on a PC is still OK. So the camcorder itself is still working correctly).
Once I switch the videos into 2D-mode, everything plays fluently again (even 1080p videos streamed over network).
A complete reset didn't help either (but at least the calendar works again!
I guess there is no hardware defect and I'm not asking for a fix here. I was just wondering if someone else experiences the same problems.
My device: EVO3D GSM unbranded, larger 2048-2nd sensor
PS:
The LG 3D would have been the better choice!
The Evo's 3D-photo-quality is just unbelievably bad. And video-recording in real life does ALWAYS suffer from sudden FPS-drops. Not only in dark scenes, but also with fast motion and flashing-lightsources. The firmware seems to be total crap. I'll probably not buy a HTC phone again.
It already wasted a lot of my time just because it does not work very well. I even started to write my own native-camcorder app (but hoped ICS would fix most problems). I hate apple, but at least their phones work.
Yea.ics has ruined 3d vdo playback.its not really choppy.bt there is micro stuttering which takes the fun out of it.yea should have gone for lg.my fon suffers from light leakage and dust inside screen.and where i live there is no warranty on htc phones.so pretty scrwed i guess.since the ics update as the 3d playback has gone bad i now really regret buyin it.

Thanks for the quick reponse/confirm.
It was more helpful than the reply from HTC (just contacted them for fun... didn't expect something useful as long as I don't get the lucky chance to meet that developer in taiwan who obviously screwed it up
Hope they port Android 4.1 soon.

Try installing something like 'system tuner' from the market and set the governor to 'performance' or/and setting the second core to 'always on'

haven't rooted the device yet.
anyways: playback of 3D-1080-videos in 2D-splitscreen works. So it's not a CPU/GPU-performance problem.
They must have done something wrong with the split + sync of the source-material...
Damn, thought it was just a setting I'd messed with and would eventually find. Please keep us up to date if you find a fix...
Ha thought it was me can't play any mp4 vids even on ms player I'm in chubbz boost ics data speeds are crazy good but Ive had some camera problems and now can't do any video playback... I'm goin back to 2.17 based gb
I thought it was a flash isssue so of course wiped and flashed even changed from 4 ext recovery back to Twrp touch still nothing waiting for this gb Rom to finish going back to synergy
Try installing an app called SD speed booster. Then set the read ahead speed to 2048 or 3072 and see if that helps. If any of you guys have system tuner its an option in the tweaks settings. Also select apply on boot. Hopefully that will help. Let me know if it does. Also you have to be rooted to use both apps.

I tried some other players and now I'm sure there is something wrong with the HW-decoder (since 4.0.3!)
All HW-players show the same behaviour:
- 2D-splitscreen playback @ 30fps = OK (e.g. with that chinese 3dvplayer)
- Switch to 3D => Drop to ~15fps
And sadly there is no software-player that is capable of 720p-playback. The FFMPEG guys should really invest more time in GPU and NEON-ASM ;-)
The bottleneck must lie somewhere between the decoder and the display-driver.

Seconded.
Tried the 4EXTRecovery app to flash Superuser, it seems to require a root access... Whats up with that, isn't it supposed to BE for rooting?
Tried installing Superuser from the apk which seemed to work, but the pref I needed didn't show up (something to do with tuning/syncing USB?).
Any instructions for an easy method (or complicated, as long as it WORKS!) please, stock ICS.
Cheers

If you have 4ext recovery installed just install superuser from the actual recovery. boot vol-down+power, select fastboot then recovery.
If you have standard htc recovery you'll have htc unlock and use the fastboot command from your pc ... from dos prompt type 'fastboot boot recovery.img' (have custom recovery.img in the same directory as your running the command promt from)

Hmm, 4ext didn't work for me, but hearing of HTC recovery led me here - how-to-root-evo-3d - from where I sort of managed it. Anyone else trying it, you won't need HTC's entire SDK zip, all neccesary files are in the one from that link. Also, pay close attention to the comment from a user about step 18 - the ...shooter.img needs to be ...shooteru.img from here - shooteru.img.
So I appear to be rooted now, only there's not much I can do as I appear to have lost my internet settings - I get 'Limited Service' on startup, and no connection at all (I have no Wifi).
Nevermind guys.. figured it out.. check your SD cards my problem was I had gotten a 32gb SD card with no class switched back to my 16gb class 4 and everything just works 2d playback of all types now 3dvplayer actually works I've downloaded acoupl movies no need to get sick flux VIP I think

That's good news, I'm about to get a class 10 card.
My connection problem is sorted too, turns out Tesco's service chose the exact moment I rooted my device to go down. Imagine the odds of that! You wouldn't believe the time / data / hair I lost trying to figure it out, and potentially dangerous things I did to my poor lil Evo!
Hi,
I'm new to this phone and getting the same choppy 3D video playback problem on my ICS 4.0.3 EVO3D too. Been a year, so did you guys ever get a solution to this issue or is it still with us? I tested with a class 10 card already and made no difference to choppy 3D video playback. (besides I think cautious911's class 10 card solution is for an entirely different problem of not being able to play back "any" video rather that the issue of the thread title relating to "Choppy 3D-video-playback")
Thanks in advance for any feedback you have on choppy 3D video playback.

If anyone on the EVO3D with stock 4.0.3 who can report they can playback 3D video recorded by the phone itself or 720p 3D downloaded video from youtube (via tubeMate app) and view it without dropped frames I'd be very interested to hear it.
So from the lack of replies, I have to presume everyone with an EVO3D on stock ICS4.0.3 suffers from choppy 3D video playback.
That blows...

Any Amaze users running FPSE (playstation emulator for andriod)?
I've been playing Final Fantasy IX for a few weeks now and I am generally happy with the quality and speed that the game is running (using opengl). The developers of fpse have been sending out a lot of updates recently and most of these updates have caused forced closing issues, worse, I lost and forgotten what my settings were to make the game running smoothly. Does anyone have experience with FPSE with open on their Amaze? Can you share your "best" settings?
Thanks!

I wish I could say yes but... I haven't had the chance to get into it yet. But I'll happily keep bumping the thread till you get some answers - I'm interested as well.
I'd love to get some FF running on my Amaze. 7, 8 or 9 would be awesome and 10 would just be incredible lol

Since these setting may be device-specific I thought I'd start a thread about it. Here are my current settings in case you have time to fire it up:
- FPSE version 0.11.36 (newer versions force closes on me when I use opengl - version is up to 0.11.39 as of this writing)
- FPSE defaults to software gpu, so I switch to opengl (settings/misc/opengl plugin; I download to SD and use the plugin "libopenglplugin.so"), then quit and restart
- video settings (settings/video): check the following: frameskip. Print FPS (optional, shows fps on the top left of screen), Original Screen Size, OffScreenDrawing, Alpha Multipass, Anti Aliasing, Texture filtering, Special frame limiter
- audio settings (settings/audio): check: spusync
- misc settings (settings/misc/framelimiter level): 60 Fps
- quit or restart to let settings "stick"
I've tested FF7 too, but I'm trying to finish FF9 first.
I get 60 Fps more than half the time. 20-50 Fps at the world map. Pauses (drops Fps drastically) for a few seconds before battles during the "swirl".

Yeah, the newer FSPE updates are working perfect for me as well now. However, what I needed to do to prevent force closes was to uninstall the old version first, then install the newest version. But in doing this, I need to re-do the opengl/video/audio settings and start from a "memory card" saved game. FPSE is getting better and better and I'm on Disc 3 of FF9!
Nice!

Good morning,
first of all i present myself. My name is Gianni and write from Italy, so excuse me for my bad english.
I've a HTC EVO3D unrooted, bought in may 2012 updated to Ics 4.0.3, HTC SENSE 3.6, software number 3.28.401.1, kernel version 3.0.16-ge733189, browser version WebKit/534.30.
Sometimes i have some troubles:
1 - sometimes touch doesn't work, i can't touch any app on the screen, or any button (home, menu, find or backbottom), it's like freezed
2 - sometimes when i scroll screen to find gadgets it freezes and the display is uncontrollable
3 - sometimes during a calling i can't close, i must remove the battery
4 - sometimes using qwerty keyboard it doesn't work good (with and without swiftkey3).
I thought that, installing a lot of third part apps, i use something uncompatible:
- es file manager
- office suite pro
- photo resizer
- tomtom
- sygic
- realcalculator plus
- skype
- aptoide
- app backup and restore
- sms backup and restore
- swiftkey 3
- something else.
So, i resetted to farm settings 5/6 times.
Now i'm testing it installing 1 app a time, anyway i don't install Es file manager (maybe it causes problems).
It freezes again, but not like before.
I write to ask you if there are any troubleshooting known, and if there are solutions, or apps uncompatible.
I hope to receive an answer ASAP,
all the best
Gianni

Uhhhh. Your digitizer might be going bad, Go to developer options and check "show touches" you'll be able to see what's going on.
And all of those apps are fine and are not causing your problem.

Yours is still Locked and unrooted, so maybe running a RUU specific to your device might solve the problem. But before that try using your phone for few hours with the simcard removed and see if it still freezes. I cant say if thats what is causing it but one of the carriers tower near my house had some issues and it made all the phones using there service freeze and unresponsive to touch every now and then. When they use other sim card the phones were working fine.
R: [Q] troubleshooting in Evo3d unrooted - ICS
I don't think that is caused by simcard. I try. Anyway it freeze Aldo during a calling so i can't close.
The apps i've now:
App backup and restore, colornote, convertpad, Skype, file manager, dea developer.
This morning it freezed two times during two calls.
Any advice?

It freezing is just your screen being unresponsive No app out there (for the most part) are gonna break your phone, At the worst they'll drain battery. So listing your apps isn't helping, Though it is nice to be thurough.
I also suggest find a RUU for you specific phone and hboot and resetting all of your software, if that doesn't help you'll have to buy a new screen or take it into a repair store;

QUESTION
Hello. Before you read the title and assume I haven't done any research, please continue reading
What I'm looking for is a way to record my phone's Android OS screen. I'm looking to start doing tutorials and reviews on games so I need to be able to record actual gameplay. I've tried various ways to do this, but all unsuccessful unfortunately.
I initially purchased Screencast Video Recorder which does an amazing job at recording screen and movement, but whenever I launch an actual game is when I would experience problems. As far as me looking at my phone went, everything was fine. But when I would go back and look at the video file it recorded I noticed it would basically stop at the moment the game got graphic-intense I guess. Some games it would completely stop until I closed the game out, or it would literally play a frame every 30 seconds it seemed. I played around with the settings to increase/decrease FPS and quality but neither fixed the issue even remotely close. And I'm pretty sure it's not any problem with the power of my phone as it's a decent one (see end of thread for specs)
Considering this is basically the best application on the market to record video, I assumed that the best way to get around this issue would be find an application that displays my Android screen onto my PC and use a normal desktop application (like Camstudio) to record it on my desktop screen.
Next I gave [email protected] a try but ran into similar problems. The FPS/movement was so slow that it was worthless. Upon reading the FAQ on the [email protected], they said there was no way to increase FPS because it was dependent on the USB. I monitored the bandwidth and it stayed above 2MB so I don't see what the issue was.
Next I tried androidscreencast which pretty much did the same exact thing that [email protected] did - on top of that it was said I could control my phone via the java application but it didn't work for me.
What I ultimately am looking for? This video is a perfect example (my apologies for linking to this particular video, however it's the best example I could find). It's great quality/resolution, they are able to control it with their PC because I see a mouse moving, and they also launch Angry Birds at the end of the video and I don't see much of decrease in FPS. One thing I noticed about the video is at the very end they stop the video and I see they are using Screencast - so of course with me have already using that I was extremely confused as to how they got such great quality and can control it from their PC.
If anyone has any links, suggestions, recommendations, or anything that can help me do this, it would be greatly appreciated!
