I've tried with force_cdma=1 (Select network is disabled) and force_cdma=0 (SIM unlock to use Phone). Please guide me to use Froyo/Gingerbread with GSM SIM.
My phone is a unlocked global phone which woks fine in (Verizon HTC Touch Pro2) WinMo 6.5/ Not sure how to make the network working with Android.
If you are GSM you definitely want to remove the force CDMA command completely.
And define 'NOT WORKING', does it freeze on boot? radio not work at all? etc.
Also what model is your phone?

Not working: Its not exactly not working. Its mobile network is not available. It says "Setup SIM unlock" or "Enter SIM PIN to use Phone".
My phone is from Verizon (CDMA). I was able to use the phone with a GSM SIM in WinMo. But the same SIM is not working under Android Froyo (I guess its 2.2, the latest stable android posted here)
My spec is attached below,
RHOD500 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.72.000
MicroP (LED) 0x0A
MicroP (KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW

Please revert if you need more details.
If it's asking for a SIM PIN, you need to disable PIN request on startup (do this in WinMo).
Pin unlock at startup is not available in Android. Yet.
Nope, it's not mobile phone's PIN unlock or security unlock. Its about SIM PIN to use the GSM SIM installed in the mobile can be used. It shows no network coverage (at the top next to battery status) or "No Service" (on the mobile phone unlock screen).
I'm able to use a GSM SIM in WinMo 6.5 without any issue. Because its an global unlocked mobile.
Lemme give a brief summary of the steps I've followed to setup Froyo/Gingerbread.
1) Downloaded the respective ROM (Froyo/Gingerbread)
2) Extracted and copied in to my microSD (8 gig) card (I've never formatted)
3) Copied the relevant (RHOD500/startup.txt) in to the same level as haret.exe. Modified the startup.txt/force_cdma=0 from force_cdma=1 (cos my phone is a Verizon or CDMA version - at least as per my understanding)
4) Selected haret.exe to load Android
5) After the bootup process is over, tried to explore the loaded Android. Everything else is working almost smooth (though with slight response delay) except the mobile network.
I'm now unable to make/receive calls or send/receive SMS or anything which requires mobile network. When I selected at Wireless Network/Mobile Networks, it shows some "Searching for mobile networks" and freezes. And when I tried to uncheck Location & Security/Setup SIM PIN/XYZ "not sure of the item, but something related to clear lock", the mobile was showing some "SIM PIN".
Note: Also I was unable to install any kitchen ROM or custom ROM, even can't HardSPL. I've attached my mobile spec from the special rainbow color screen (displayed when vol- + reset button pressed)
Hope I've briefed my issue completely. Please help me to resolve the issue. Many thanks in advance.

I don't see any attachment?
So just double check the SIM PIN is totally cleared in WINMO.
What kernel and rootfs are you using?
Also, are you using the default RIL or highlandsun's?
I meant the attached detail as,
RHOD500 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.72.000
MicroP (LED) 0x0A
MicroP (KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW

805,196 217,194
219,846 Calibrated
I'm not a very technical person. Please let me know the steps I need to follow to answer your queries.
1) How to totally clear SIM PIN in WINMO?
2) How to find the Kernel n rootfs version? I've downloaded the "Froyo Complete build - Stable" version from XDA HTC TP2 Android Forum.
3) I donno how to find whether I'm using Default RIL or Highlandsun's one??

This is a very technical process - running Android on a WinMo phone isn't exactly "easily done". Hopefully when it gets more stable, it will get easier to install - but at this stage, there's a lot of things being tested, and you really need to learn your way around the system if you expect to be able to use it - or troubleshoot it.
With that said, if you haven't downloaded a test RIL and mounted it, then I'd say you're using the stock one . If you didn't change anything with the bundle, you're also using the stock rootfs from 2/24.
Disabling the SIM PIN is a WinMo problem - I'm not quite sure how to disable it, I don't use WinMo sorry . If you're not a very technical person, it might be best to stick to WinMo - the phone was after all designed for it. Android may never run flawlessly on our phones, even when NAND flashing has stabilized. So perhaps play with Android, have some fun with it - but don't use it full time if you're not willing to accept the issues.

That's great.
But I'm using an unlocked WinMo. But I've checked with my Service provider. Its nothing to do with the SIM PIN it seems. Its just the default 4 digit (for example 0000) should be entered. But that didn't solved my issue.
I guess its something to do with the device lock, 'm not sure. Cos I was unable to install any customer ROM or even HardSPL. The device easily switches to Airplane mode. But not able to access any mobile network. That's the main problem. Prob.ly if I continue using Android, I mite be able to find out some issues. But using Android that too in my TP2 is really cool (though slightly slower). But I'm stuck with mobile network connectivity issue.
I've seen few threads about "No service" or Airplane mode issues. But I was unable to find a proper solution which could work for me.
Not sure whether it would give any clue, I'm using a i5 win7 64-bit laptop.
I guess I got the solution. I've found the network to "Global" under WinMo. Changed to "GSM Only" and reboot Android. And now I'm able to see all the networks.... Wow!!!!! What a relief now.... Thanks for all you support in this matter

Heh, awesome. I need to remember these little tricks that trip people up .
Something to note: There is clearly something odd about your device. A SIM lock of any sort should not affect your ability to install HardSPL.
Of interest - what radio version are you running? Most people who flash ROMs update their radios too, you might be running an old radio firmware that behaves differently from those most other users have in use.

Yeah even I can sense there's something odd. That's why I've attached the complete environment (PC n Mob) I was using for flashing. Please refer to post #3 in this thread where I've attached the details which you can use for your analysis and suggest me how can I flash my WinMo ROM?
When I tried the ROM/update from Verizon (MR1,2,3), it worked w.o any issue. But when I tried with any customer ROM, I was stuck @ 0% with the error "262" or "260" (I don't remember the error codes, but I guess this can give some idea).
Might be able to get a unique type of CDMA TP2!!! lol.......... ;o)
What does the device say in bootloader mode? (Edit: Saw your third post and that looks like a stock SPL.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425922
Error 262 implies that you didn't actually flash HardSPL. What happened when you tried to flash HardSPL as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578660 ?
What's your radio ROM version?

No matter what radio I upgrade to I have no service on my 8525, some radio roms even say no service even when the sim card isn't in. other roms just continually search and then eventually say no service. It is not the sim card, it works perfectly in my other cingular phones, and my device is unlocked anyways.
Does anyone know what the problem could be and how I would fix it? it is not the OS rom, it happens with both WM5 and WM6, everything else works with the phone, well actually my microphone wasn't working for cellular calls (when i still could make them) it would only work for the voice recorder
when I used the check image command in mtty, i got this
Cmd>checkimage
IPL CRC checksum = 0x50C4A5F0
SPL CRC checksum = 0xC27E0E42
CE CRC checksum = 0xF21F01B9
ExtROM CRC checksum = 0xB924B6BA
Radio Image CRC checksum = 0xB845CC64
Cmd>
BTW, why does it say Cmd instead of usb, what does this mean?
I got the same CRC in my Radio (version is 1.51.00.10):
IPL CRC checksum = 0x80C8FEE6
SPL CRC checksum = 0x327DEB48
CE CRC checksum = 0xE6F4D57A
ExtROM CRC checksum = 0xA9AB06C9
Radio Image CRC checksum = 0xB845CC64
And I got no problems with SIM. Maybe it's a hardware related problem (antenna or something like this).
When you flash a radio rom, does it change everything that has to do with the cellular connection? or could something have been changed that wasn't supposed to be like how people were losing their wifi because the eeprom chip was getting erased due to OS flashing
Iv'e given up, i've flashed countless radios, and they all say no service, even when there is a sim card in it, and for some reason it doesnt even say when there isn't a sim card in there. Does anyone want to buy it off me?

Scratch that, how about I pay the first person that helps me to fix it on my own $30 via paypal, and you will help me over AIM (---------), so no one can "copy" someone else.
It seems that the only radio that recognizes when I do and do not have a sim in is the 1.16 one, and even then it has no service, although it ocassionaly searches, only to say no service once again.
Also, Sim Manager, and the Phone under settings will not open
Check with your provider that the IMEI of your phone has not been blocked. You should test this with a sim card from another network, but also it's worth phoning up your provider and asking them to check if your IMEI has been blocked as it doesn't propagate to all networks instantly.
This happened to me with similar symptoms, fortunately it occurred as a mistake of T-Mobile when they were blocking the current phone of the person who owned my phone originally.
my radio too would not connect.
also my mtty.exe would not connect,
i put the phone in bootloader mode and open mmty.exe, select US to connect but get error says "usb port can not open"?
I have a white Softbank X01HT version of Hermes.
Since the OS is Japanese i cannot read but i am a WM user already so i could find my way through.
I turned it on and did not let the ext rom install, also Also, i ran the Hermes Unlocker V3a.
It said Unlocked SIM and Cuper CID unlocked.
Also, i checked the Windows folder on the device and could not see a file names upd.log, so i assume
the ext rom did not install.
Now i put my sim it does not ask for an Unlock code so i guess phone's unlocked. But i got an USIM screen
asking for passsword i guess in japanese, which i think is the vodafone software lock, so to remove it i ran
the file from imei-check.co.uk and i think it worked although my phone had frozen showing a large unlock icon
on screen, so i soft reset and this time i dont see the usim screen again with my non vodafone sim inserted.
But neither does it get a gsm signal, all i could see is an "exclamation !" sign besides the signal icon.
I then did the HardSPL v7 Flashing and then upgraded my radio to 1.43, still no luck with GSM signal.
What to do?
Shall i flash to a English ROM? if yes then which one?
Plss help.
Thanks,
Michelle
I put in a t-mobile sim, and its recognized, and I get a couple of bars, however if i turn off the radio it will not let me turn it back on, and sometimes, randomly i will get no service, normally where i have full bars.
also, i have to softreset the phone to get a signal no matter how long i wait
Radio Worked Now
Okay i was not sure what it was but i ran the Hermes Unlocker like 3 times and on the third attempt it worked, now i can see radio signals and make/recv. calls.
Wonder what caused this, may be i made some mistake running the unlocker first time around but even then phone should have asked me for an unlock code if sim unlock did not happen, but i am happy it works now.
But i dont think it would help you cos yours i guess is an 8525 and you are on ATT network so you dont require unlocking, but no harm in trying if you wish.
How do you usee mtty.exe?
would not connect for me - i put the phone in bootloader mode and open mmty.exe, select US to connect but get error says "usb port can not open"?
Can you write me the steps for this pls?
I just want to know what my Boot loader version is.
Even though you have bars on T-Mo, make sure you can make calls etc - when my IMEI was blocked, o2 would report no service, but T-Mobile gave me a signal. However, I could not make calls on text with the T-Mo sim despite having signal.

I wish it fixed the problem, I have to turn my phone off during school, and its a hassle to have to reset it every time I lose service, and after i turn the radio off. Also I called cingular and they did not block my IMEI, and I tried a different cingular sim and it didn't work. Thats very odd, maybe it has something to do with the band.
This seems hopeless. Does anyone have an estimate of how much it would cost to have HTC repair my phone?

Alright so here is the premise. I had a good ol time trying to figure out what to download and where to go, what to do, etc, so i thought i would give anyone interested a step by step tutorial (only for you alltel people, vzw can fend for themselves). Please read all the instructions before you do anything, i can jump around a bit sometimes.
Yes, this should enable your GPS and Rev A. No, I will not be responsible if you destroy you phone (although highly unlikely...)
1. download the newest bootloader.
1a. file can be found here
1b. install the bootloader.
1c. this opens up a dos prompt. read it carefully and make sure your phone is already connected when you open the application.
1c. i believe the second time it asks you to "press a key to continue" you need to disconnect your phone and plug it back in. it tells you to do this so just read the directions.
1d. if it reads out that your phone cant be contacted and to check your cable, its probably because you didnt do step 2b.
2. download and install the new radios.
2a. Dont freak, we are going to download a sprint rom.
2b. Download it from here
2c. Run the exe with your phone plugged in.
2d. IMPORTANT: Once the flash is done, the phone will boot up. It will ask you to tap the screen to begin. If you tap, you Fail. Dont tap the screen.
2e. Move to step three.
3. Almost there, now we are getting a good ol' cooked ROM to run on it.
3a. Download DCD's kitchen here. You will also need to download Visual C++ and .Net Framework from here and here
3b. Once downloaded, click on build rom, you will see a bunch of fancy command prompt windows. Just let it sit there for a while. You will see a window come up with a bunch of check boxes. Really click whatever you want. The default selections should be enough to satisfy you. The only thing you need to make sure to do is click on "Alltel" in the carrier screen and click off of "Sprint", the default.
3c. Once you have selected what you want (again I encourage to just use the defaults and maybe add office or entertainment or something), then click the play button at the top. Once the window shows its done loading, click the x to close out of the builder. The command prompt window will start spewing information again at you. Disregard that, its not really vital.
3d. After the command prompt finishes the tizzy it got itself into, the HTC flashing application will automatically launch. Follow through in this window and it will eventually flash you phone. Thats really all you have to do!
Final Thoughts: This guide will also work with any of the other carriers that DCD's new kitchen supports. Thats pretty much everyone because, he is, you know, the man and all. The only thing you have to change is the selection of you carrier when you are "building" your rom. For the specifics of this guide I choose alltel but you can use whatever you want assuming it matches your carrier.
Please write down your Programming information before you do this flash. And its important to know your MSL if you have one of those BS carriers that changes it (unlike alltel). If you need to reprogram your phone, dial ##000000+send and put in your nam information. If you need to still set you A-Key or HDR password (more advanced stuff, the A key allows some sort of authentication and HDR password (located in the security section) allows you to connect to EVDO networks) then you can access the more advanced EPST menu with ##778+send.
Make sure you update with *228 to get the latest PRL or search around online.
Happy Flashing!
Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or if i left something out
ALSO THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE AT XDA, GREATEST PHONE SITE IN EXISTENCE
Finally, a step by step for Alltel folks...Thanks. My head was spinning trying to piece together everything from all the various posts.
Terrific write up.
If you can, include where to find the MDN, MSID, and AKEY before upgrading so that these can be re-installed if erased...
Old roms don't work
Nice guide, but you should also note that older roms have a compatibility issue with the new radio upgrade. it seems right now only dcd's cooked rom works; for me at least.
The information you are looking for can be found by using the advanced EPST feature in the phone. assuming you are using a stock dialer (or one that supports codes) inut "##778" and then press call. it will bring up a menue and ask to view or edit. If you are getting your info, of course, press view and if you are replacing info, just click edit. all the info like your mdn and min (which you should know without having to look in here) will be here. clicking the menu on the taskbar will let you choose an entire metric ****ton of info to view. a key is one of them. I noticed now that going back, my akey is not inputted. i dont know what this value is but in the past i think i have seen it as just "0" or blank. I was foolish and didnt write it down before the flash. if anyone has anything diferent in their akey, wanna post it?
update prl
alright so i think i solved the problem with the roaming issue and the EVDO connectivity. and i feel like an idiot. for some reason i just kept on putting off updating the prl since i flashed it. and for another reason i didnt think it would matter. but i have since used the latest prl and updated completely and, wouldntyouknowit, it works perfect. steps?
1. download the newest prl here.
2. bluetooth or copy to your phone
3. open the dialer and press "##775" (this spells prl)
4. enter your unlock code, should be 000000
5. click on update prl, then menu at the bottom then edit
6. browse to where the prl is on your phone (probably my docs if you BTed it)
7. update and restart, voila!
8. enjoy having EVDO and no triangle again! WOOT!
just wondering, after following through all those steps, do we need to relock it?
Also want to note that, this method does indeed work for all providers (alltel, vzw, sprint), it's just the step where you have to flash your rom (DCD's or any other) make sure it is the one with your provider. I made a mistake of downloading the Alltel rom when I'm really a Sprint user :x.
Have any of you folks been able to get OfficeSync to work with this ROM? I can surf the web but am unable to register with my account.
I was hung up in between steps 2 and 3. The screen was stuck on the Alltel screen and I couldn't connect with my pc to install the ROM. I followed other instructions to use a FAT32 formatted SD card with the ROM renamed to TITAIMG.nbh. Reset into bootloader mode by holding the power and camera buttons and hard reset. Run the setup from there... Hope this helps someone else.

I never locked my phone and it works fine. So I am guessing no, you dont. And yeah you are correct it should work fine with any of DCD's roms, i just know the alltel one was a success for me, didnt want to lead someone astray. I know the telus one, for example, was bugged at first. idk
This is my first modification to my cell phone...just got it! Is there a setting I check to verify the GPS is working? I just looked around and all I saw were settings for connectiong external GPS devices. Also, when i go to communications manager...there is no setting for GPS. Shouldn't there be a way to turn GPS on and off? Thanks for the help!
Ok....I don't think mine is working because I installed Google Maps and clicked track location and it just stayed at Contacting Satellites (0)...I think I may have messed it up because I installed the SPL first, then the DCD's OS and last the radios...i went back and tried to reinstall everything int he correct order, but now the radio ROM says it's not created for my device.
Is there a way to start over with a fresh install so I can try this again and do it in the correct order this time? Please help! Thanks!
Well im having problems. I installed the new rom via sd card. Everything seemed to go smooth, but when wm starts up and goes through the align screen thing it just restarts and never starts up.

If you want to start from a blank slate you should be able to install a factory ROM and then begin again from there. It's my understanding that the proper order should be: New SPL --> DCD's ROM --> New Radio
I myself, when following this order, got stuck at the Alltel splash screen after I installed DCD's ROM, but before installing the radio. A reboot with the camera and power buttons held down simultaneously got me into bootloader. From there the ROM installer could recognize the device and proceed with the radio install.
If you click on the data arrow icon at the top, what does it say?
Mine says:
"Alltel Wireless (Dial-up) Connected"
I cant remember before what it said when connected but my download high was 497kps & 97kbps for upload. Either the area I am in doesnt have Rev A (Which I think is the case based upon EVDOMAPS) or my data connection is now hindered...

I personally have not been able to reach an EVDO signal at all. in an area where i was always at EVDO, now im mostly shown as roaming and in 1x. I have most recent prl and my SIDs are correct. i think there is a reason this rom is still in beta....
Have you tried the *228, press 3 then *228 then press 2? I had the roaming indicator flashing with 1X until I completed the steps above...
axcess shop
downloaded wm6.1 and it work great but is there a way to get alltels axcess shop back or no thank you
evdo
i am not romeing but i cant get a go evdo ether just 1x i did *228 and still only get 1x any way to fix this thank you
Check my Reply in this Post! The instructions will get your phone locked back onto EVDO. Not sure what your problem is with the roaming, haven't had any problems with that. I would recheck the SID in EPST again!

Ok, this is a real noob question but im pretty stuck right now.
Ive successfully flashed roms on the touch diamond in the past, but this is getting the better of me.
My phone was on orange contract. Not sure if that makes any odds, but it wasnt unlocked from that network either.... (which wasnt a problem for me, I intended to use it with Orange anyway).
I flashed:
ROM_TG01_Clone_D2_6.1.21056_WWE.7z to the TG01.
Great. All fires up. But no radio at all. Nada, nothing.
So I downloaded the radio files, did the whole rename to orginal.tsw and changed the radio versions, hoping to find one that worked.
Again, nothing. Just keeps searching constantly for a network and I cant access the network settings for the phone.
So I reflashed back to a standard Orange UK rom in the hope that radio would be restored.
It possibly has, I dont know, because now the phone is locked with "enter sim unlock code". This isnt the standard sim lock code I use on my phone normally. Im guessing its the network unlock code.
I really want to get the HTC feel on the TG01. Tsunagi is perfect, if only I can get the radio working.
Any help please for a noob....

which radio did you try flashing?
the new ones are built with a new IMGFs structure, which doesnt fit well with the kitchen etc... perhaps a bad flash? dont forget to hard reset after a flash!

I always had trouble using Miros radio changing kitchen out of the box, so i reverted to using tgtool and the radio file to change radio, doing it manually always seemed to work for me. I successfully changed the radio on that rom to 0321, so i know its possible.

Thanks both you guys, but i'm still no better off. Did what you suggested "insertnamehere", but its odd... I get the familiar imgfs signature not found where expected error, do not use....
Is it possible to brick only the radio side of things??? Ive yet to find an OS Rom that has a built in radio that functions at all.... let alone changing it....
Totally confused now.
I will persevere, its actually an old phone my mum is interested in using, but the generic tosh menu is a load of well, tosh, and I thought the HTC variant would be easier for her to get to grips with.
Bloody phones!!
Thanks for the pointers anyway. I will continue....
I would add to that, Ive just tried another ROM that lets me see more info under the "about phone" menu. In software information, Radio version, Protocol version and ROM date are all empty.... makes me think there really is no radio installed....
Would a locked phone do this...? do I need to unlock from orange before attempting a mod?

This is very strange, makes me think your device has a hardware problem. What happens if you flash back to Orange stock rom and master clear?
Ive reflashed the main orange rom, without the SIM I access the main system no problem, but cant see any networks (since theres no sim)...
With the SIM in I get, "Phone is blocked. Enter password to disable SIM lock."
So I cant tell if theres radio there in any case.
Catch22?

Sounds to me like a simlock, unless you put in the right network sim, you won;t get any network until its unlocked.
Yeah, I thought that too. But its an orange phone, orange sim card and I have no idea why its coming up. My last resort is to purchase the unblocking code from orange...

Cheaper is to contact Vitamise.
Send your imei with £10 paypal payment to:
[email protected]
He is very quick, you will have a code within hours.
ok this phone a brand new, i can receive calls and text but when i dial a number and try to make a call the phone restarts
This is factory unlocked and not rooted
Try flashing a newer radio rom.
I dont want to root it incase i cant get the original rom back.
It is weird as, i have tried with every sim card to make calls and it works but when i put the 3 sim in does plays up
We experienced the same issue on some Turkish networks as well and flashing a newer radio rom fixed the problem. Flashing roms and rooting are totally different. What you need is a newer version of your current baseband ( radio rom ) sbf and official motorola software flasher " RSD Lite 5.3 "
Hope it helps.
Thank you so much for that Semseddin.
My problem solved, i just flashed it using RSD lite 4.9
Thanks everyone
Hi. I've been having the exact same issue. I've got an unlocked AT&T Atrix and I'm trying to use a Three UK sim (I'm in the UK). I'm a bit new to the world of android, can someone post a link to an appropriate Radio Rom?
Thanks for any help!!
OK after a little more web searching I've found a (sort of) solution -
"Here's a quick fix for it thou, (not permanent)....
1. type *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer
2. Chose Phone Information
3. Set preferred network to GSM only
Viola...its fixed
problem with this fix is that you wont be able to use your 3G network but the dialer should be working."
Problem is of course that you can't use your 3G connection. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.

Why is it always 3 that cause a problem?
When the Nokia N900 came out, that wouldn't work with 3 initially until a couple of updates later!

May not work for Pay as you go? I didn't think that it had 2G fall back?
Hi All,
I have an HTC Desire 601 phone that won't connect to a network service. This phone is a side project I've been working on. I replaced the screen and digitizer (the screen was shattered). I also unlocked the phone with a SIM unlock code.
Now, no matter what SIM card I input, it won't connect to a network. I've checked that the IMEI number is not blacklisted (it is not). It registers a sim card is inserted, but won't connect to a network -> I receive the error "SIM card doesn't allow a connection to this network"...every once in a while I'll also get a random "ME returned a temporary error".
I've attempted manually and automatically connecting to a network, but to no avail. I've manually input APN's for different providers, but still nothing. I've basically tried everything that was offered on XDA for other phones with a similar problem but didn't get any positive results.
The phone was previously locked to virgin mobile. I have a couple of theories as to what could be wrong but I'm not sure (I'm newbie when it comes to cell ware and its software, I just like to take things apart and put them back together etc.). One theory is that the unlocking wasn't complete in some form; not sure how though, considering it no longer asks me to input an unlocking code when i insert a different SIM card (i used a Koodo sim card). The other theory I had was the antenna, which I've read is often located in the SIM card slot (or in this case the frame), is damaged (the phone fell and had a shattered screen).
I no longer have a warranty on the phone, so I can't just send it back to replace (plus I like solving problems). I like XDA forums because they helped me flash my ROM on my samsung (after it completed a faulty upgrade and was stuck on download mode). I was wondering if anyone knows what I could do, from a software perspective, or if I should look into finding antenna replacement? (I don't think the sim card reader is broken as it registers a sim card is in there)
PS. sorry for the essay message, I just wanted to provide as much detail as possible

Before investing in some hardware, did you tried a factory reset? Maybe flashing a RUU to set back your phone to 100% stock (this doesn't remove the sim-unlock) could help. If the problem persist after flashing a RUU then yes its probably an hardware problem, its hard to tell what exactly.

I've definitely tried a factory reset, but that didn't work. I haven't flashed the RUU. To be honest, I"m not sure what the RUU is. Is it related to the ROM (I've flashed the ROM on another phone)?

A RUU will restore the original firmware and software on your phone like if it was brand new. If the problem persist after flashing a ruu, its most likely an hardware problem. I have posted a few RUU in the general section, maybe there is one that fit on your phone. Check link in my signature.

Ok, so I've looked for an RUU that matches my model (details below) but I can't find anything (I'm probably looking in the wrong place):
Android version: 4.4.2
Sense: 5.5
Software: 2.14.666.15
SDK APi: 5.69
Can I use an RUU that's close like the one below?(from your thread link)
2.14.666.3 (Bell Mobility) Android 4.4 Sense 5.5
Link: androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347841561.......etc.
