Slow touch/response! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why is the touch so slow on my x10? When im using an Samsung Galaxy S or even an HTC Wildfire the touch response is very good, for example when i drag down the status bar it follows my finger perfectly. But when I drag down the status bar with my x10 it rolls down after my finger. Iv'e installed alot of roms, but none of them makes the response faster. Is there anyway I can fix this?
Im on an pretty old baseband, can it be that?

That's the 32fps cap doing it's thing. There's not much you can do about it right now, unless you wan't to try zdzihu's alpha-kernel, but it has it's problems and I'd rather wait for a properly tested and supported kernel instead.

add this to your build prop
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=260

I'm also aware that..I've tried freekernel but it is still the same..it is not so responsive..for me iphone has the best responsive..

You mean freekernel as in the one jerpelea cooked, or the alpha-kernel as in the first kernel that was released for use to the community? Because the freekernel doesn't unlock the FPS while the alpha-kernel does.

It just can be used with baseband .52,and bb .52 is not supported by 2.2 rom..if I not mistake usb debugging is not working and many more probs, that why it is call alpha-kernel..Maybe it take weeks or months before our devs can make it stable and support all baseband versions..

I dunno since when was a dev jesus? Maybe he doesn't know about it?

Im currently using trips miui with the custom kernel and I must say that finger tracking is HUGELY improved. It may no be up to par with the galaxy s or iphone but its much much better

No! If you would read you would see its not a complete kernel its nothing more than a proof of concept. Z's announcement was meant for developers to know he had accomplished the bypass and would be providing source for custom kernels. The current kernel will never be developed or supported. There is absolutely no reason for 99% of the people here to flash this kernel.

As of now, I don't think it's a good idea.
Just wait patiently for devs to do their work.

Backup you're current ROM and try flashing it. I tried it on 2.1 and 2.2 but on wrong bb. For the few seconds it worked (before it restarted) i was amazed at how much more responsive it was. Back to SE kernel for now. If was on the right bb i would gladly use it as a daily rom.
Flash the right bb, it's worth it
Nah, I think I keep my 2.2 until SE releases Gingerbread.
Flash-support and JIT really makes my phone smooth even if its still locked in FPS.
But it will be really interesting to see what the devs can do with custom kernels.
I can't even think of going back to the fps capped froyo roms now. Its just so smooth. Like a new phone.

its well worth it! everything is so fast and smooth espesiaclly launcher pros scrolling between homepages. i have had no problems with this custom kernal at all so i think its fir for daily use.

How do you define perfect? A fully functional firmware or a speedy ROM?

I have always been confused by members who complain about the official SE firmware and the SE devs being completely incompetent and slow, when all of the custom ROMs have insufficiencies of their own and the devs are considered Gods. Especially, when our devs haven't brought us any of the major implementations themselves, like fully functional camera, 60 fps cap, 16mil colors, or multitouch.
No offense to our devs, because they have limitations by bootloader, but the problem isn't just bootloader, it's having someone who can create all the drivers, which was the case before bypass.
What is important to you? Fully functional or speed? Which bugs are major? A little lag on timescape or rebooting, or a touchscreen that freezes or becomes partially unresponsive?

It's a Question, dumby. How about an actual opinion rather than playing moderator?
Many people have questions about the differences between custom ROMs and official firmware.
What about fully functional AND fast? try wolfbreak's rom
Jokes aside, remember that SE gave up on x10 updates before going back on their decision and giving us gingerbread. And honestly, only the 2.3 custom roms don't have fully working cameras, Froyo is pretty much complete and has been my daily rom for many months now, i can't thank SE for that.

There are ZERO 2.2+ ROMS that are fully functional. PERIOD.

If SE released a ROM that didn't have a fully functional camera, xda members would lose it.

Why not try out ericks 2.1 rom which is extremely fast, like gingerbread speeds and literally everything works. Want teether then grab barnacle for free off the market. No, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941745 fully functional and possibly the fastest rom out there. Camera and video recording work 100% perfect. It's a custom rom, it all works, its fast and i wish you try it out before accusing me of being a liar.
Edit
My daily choose of rom for about 2 weeks, i left cm7 for this
Sent from my X10x using XDA Premium App
The reason Erick's rom is so speedy is that many features(which most people do not use) are disabled. Once you add them on again, the speed is comparable to stock firmware. I would say that is the closest 'custom rom' to being fully functional.
All the 2.2+ roms, while very nice and speedy, often have things that don't work.. like camera, and all of them suffer from poor battery life. A big gripe for me is the wifi disconnect issue with all 2.2 and above custom roms. I find it hard to believe that most people would prefer speed over functionality.
I've tried most of the roms out there in my year with the x10, and I always found myself coming back to stock.
And now with the arc, I don't have a choice There are no custom roms for bootloader locked arcs

gingerbread VS MILK'CM7

most of people said, milk's cm7 rom definitely over modded gingerbread 2.3.3, actually what is the real diffirence between it?
is only different between battery n quadrant score?
actually the quadrant score gt affect the phone performance?
Official GB ROM is bugless and with better battery life..
mik's CM7 has some bugs, but its performance is incredible! it's amazingly smooth (it's the smoothest ROM I have ever used).
You can try to flash both of them and choose, which one is better for you..
Currently I'm waiting for andy's new ROM. I think, it'll be a bomb..

In v20c update, icons in notification bar are fixed..
For me USB transfering is like in other ROMs, also proximity sensor is working..
But, after some using I have to reboot the phone because it usually becomes slower (scrolling is laggin').. With CM7 I didn't have this problem.
Oh, and what's the animation bug?

[Q] Best ROM and Best Kernel?

Hiya! Okay, I'm quite experienced with Android now, and I know this is a noobs question, and possibly frowned upon, but I was wondering what the best Kernel and ROM for my X10 is?
I previously used an X8 with CM7 (2.3.4) v.138 HACKDROID, and I pretty much want the same awesomeness on my X10 but better. There are a load here, and the Master Thread doesn't have any recommendations like the X8 Master Thread (which recommends HACKDROID).
I just need a few pointers and I won't post a noob question again. This is all I pretty much need to know.
Thanks
DM
If your into Cyanogen, check out CM7-ZMOD, butter smooth. If you want a more Sony Ericsson feel, check out Wolfs 2.3.3 rom. Again, butter smooth.

Thanks. Yeah, its just like Hackdroid I found a 'Power to The People' Kernel by DoomLord, but it seems to turn off my signal, wifi and the USB cannot be recognised at all?
Only two quams with the ROM is lack of Governers - Not unless this Smartass one is good enough?? And the Volume in general is far too low.
Wish there was a Kernel to improve the ability even further. It's got the potential.
if you want a fast, reliable rom then j's cm7 j004 with doomlord's custom kernel can't be beat. until se release sources for gingerbread. this is the best custom setup around... in my opinion...

As I stated, I'm no expert, in fact, I could even be completely incorrect. I have however read other peoples responses to similar questions about SE releasing their kernel sources. They state that the Linux kernel sources, which are licenced under the GPL, must be disclosed within a certain period of time, which I believe to be 15 days.
Apologies for my somewhat limited knowledge about such licenses.
