App to save text history - myTouch 4G Themes and Apps

Is there an app available to allow me to export text conversations, or save the conversation to my sd card? Been searching for a hour now but I guess I don't know what to call it in order to search properly. Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys!

MyBackup Pro and Titanium can both do that.

I use "Sms backup and restore "
Search "ritesh sahu" on the market
You can enable which conversations you want in the settings otherwise all of the conversations will be backed up

Download Go SMS pro. It's a good texting app and it has options to back up and restore individual conversations/threads or in bulk.

Chomp SMS allows you to email text convos...but mybackup root if pretty awesome, too.

Question about text messaging

Is there anyway you can make your text alert come up like an iphone?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I use go sms, I think its similar...

Yea. Go SMS has that option along with a ton more.

To clarify a bit: no, you can't get notifications this way right out of the box with a stock or AOSP-based ROM. But there are apps from the Market that will give you pop-up text notifications. You can use GOSMS as the other posters suggested, but if you don't want to use a different messaging app, there are also apps that will take over the notifications while you continue to use the stock messaging app to read and compose your texts. Search the Market for keywords "SMS notify popup" or similar and you should find what you're looking for.
Along with Go SMS there's also handcent sms which is similar.
If you want exact iphone replica messaging, then try chomp sms. I've been using it from a while and I love it.

SMS customization

Is there any way to customize GO SMS or Handcent SMS to have it show the contact photos in the conversation itself? (Like on Stock Android)
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I don't know about Handcent, but I can't find the option in Go SMS Pro.
The pictures must be already placed under the contact in the phone book. Then they will show up. (Gosms)

I was referring to the conversation itself (bubble or list) . In stock in the convo. Itself the image appears next to the text of whomever sent it

They show up just fine for me. I am using handcent but I used to use go SMS and it worked fine as long as i didn't sync Facebook. Syncing FB caused issues
^ nice member! ..... sorry I misunderstood ur question.

Is it safe to delete the stock messaging app?

I use gosms and for some reason the stock app notify me more times then the gosms.... I was going to try and delete it but I don't know how embedded it is in the system and I don't want to break something.

I would used Titanium Backup to freeze it and test whatever sms client you are using instead. I use Google Voice for everything and have had my messaging frozen (disabled) and everything works.

I use Handcent and have uninstalled (with TiBU) the stock messaging account on just about every ROM I've flashed on all 3 of my EVO's (4G, View, and LTE) with never an issue.

Is it possible to password protect the messages app?

How would I go about doing this? I'm currently using the Omega rom and would prefer it if I didn't have to switch but I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks.
Play Store is your solution. Search it.
You can try SMS Lock apps or use Hancent SMS.

Try go sms. U can passcode lock ur messaging app, block people and customize

I liked Textsecure. I didn't use the encrypted message function just for the encrypted and password protected storage with a timeout. You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.thoughtcrime.securesms

Ohh great i know now what Bloat means thanks so much...
Why remove it? You can download and use an alternative such as handcent and customize the notification settings for each so that your new messaging app becomes the default
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
The reason for that is to have protection for incoming text messages
i would like to see a SMS app where can have two password to protect some of private messages coming in..
or to have SMS app that will have protected page will only list the private sms messages and all will go in there
