So has anyone found a way to enable 4G on the vibrants?
Thanks
not gonna happen. our radio physically can't (wasn't built to) handle that speed.
I have two friends one with a galaxy 4g the other with a infuse 4g and my vibrant is faster than both of them. They both get around 2.5 down and 1 up. I rountinly get 3.5-6 down and 1.5-3 up on my vib......im good with vib...then again their phones are stock so maybe their not being utilized to full potential
Thanks for the quick reply guys.

What rom are you using??
The best you can get is 3.5 G, our vibrant not capable of 4 G

how do you get that?

3.5g has been lumped into normal 3g. 3.5g is the speeds at about 3mbps and up. And you automatically get that when in the range of a tower that supports that speed.

No one has made a mod because the 4g modem is a surface mount device, and more than likely isn't anywhere near the same shape nor will it likely be the same pinout as the vibrant 3g modem.

okay guess it'll have to stay like that. thanks for the reply

Yes...when i first got here i was scared to break my phone and even confused with terminology....but it was the best thing i did. The stock version does not even come close to tapping into the potential of this phone...just read and read again...watch some tutorials and take the jump...you wont be disappointed...besides this phone is almost impossible to completely brick.....good luck
4G,is joke.
tmobile does not have 4g, that is fake.
only 3g

I just bought the prepaid 4G prepaid plan using my atrix and I'm only getting 2G speed. I read that it has to do with the frequency. I can't afford to buy a new phone, so I'm hoping to be able to change the phone frequency or hear any other solution that someone has already tried to get 4G speed. Thanks!

Hey, sorry I dont have a solution to your question but a question myself lol. I'm looking to switch to t-mobile pre-paid or month to month also. What all did you have to do to make the switch? Pretty simple?
someone already asked about using their atrix on the T-Mobile network.
search for it. I'm sure you'll find the answer with about 15 or less of search time.
----
and I found it already. took me like 5-7 minutes. and it's only because I read a few different threads as well.
so yeah. search. quite easily found.
Frequency=radio=hardware
Get to soldering and hacking drivers if you want to change the freq.

Its impossible to change the frequency of a device. There's a reason these things have to go through the FCC before they hit the market. Enjoy your EDGE. I recommend checking out Opera Mini, if you can live with some weird looking pages it'll speed up your web browsing quite a bit.
Not possible by software. Sorry.

Hi guys, I want to buy a HTC Rezound & keep my pageplus service. Just wondering if anyone been successful activating it on Pageplus with everything working (Besides 4G)?
I'm coming from a Droid X2 & The community is great but it's also pretty much dead since the bootloader is locked.

Are you happy with your page plus service? Do they really use the verizon towers? Thats what I have been told. I am looking into switching to them. There is a company near my home in NH that will unlock phones and you can get any service on them. I am seriously considereing it......But am a little leerey about it...I need my phone for work and home so I must have good service. They told me it would be $100-150 to unlock my 4G phone. They are not 100%sure they can do it yet, so if they can;t theres no charge.
I was thinking of just getting a regular used 3g smartphone on craigslist and setting it up with pageplus...just to see how the service is, before cancelling verizon.....sound like a good idea or a bad one?
Thanks

I have a trip to Europe coming up and I'm making plans to stay in touch with my office. I'm thinking of picking up a Photon and using a local SIM when I get to France.
I know it mostly depends of the network, but what kind of GSM data speeds could I expect on this phone?
I'm mainly interested in tethering it to my laptop.
Thanks.

It's ok for mobile browsing. I didn't try tethering in Scotland, but from what I saw on the phone, I would only use with a laptop as a last resort. Light e-mail is ok, but you'll be waiting a long time if you've got one of those co-workers who likes to send that 30MB presentation on his reply-all response.
And, of course, 4G is out of the question while over there. Good luck.
My phone is rooted and running the Viper ROM and I was thinking about the Wal-Mart Straight Talk plan, been reading lots of stuff but a bit confused. Being rooted, what do I need to do to use the ST plan? Will I still have 4G LTE with them? What do I need to know?
Thanks-Dan
I am looking a this myself. But I don't want to lose 4g.
So, I would love to hear more info also.

That didn't really make sense.
Yes, 4g is fast. That's why I want to keep it.

I rooted my rezound, and loaded cyanogen's countershrike... ended up using the familytalk from walmart, on tmob. cyanogens ROM has an awesome installer, lets you pick a CDMA or GSM carrier. I had to play with the settings for the networks, but they are all available. I started here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943767
also look for the GSM unlock threads...
good luck!
Where is Viper Rom for the Rezound? Trying to set a friend up on it
