Has anyone tried ordering the Telstra Mozart for use in the US with AT&T? I did that with my HD2 and it worked great.

Can't see a reason why it wouldn't work for any Telstra phone. 850 / 2100Mhz. I don't think they are locked.. Will try my Vodafone SIM tomorrow.
Does Telstra work on the same 3G band as At&t ?? ( 850/2100 mhz I think )

I have a Telstra Mozart handset. I can confirm it is on the 850/2100mhz HSPA/WCDMA bands and are unlocked.
Also note that there is very slight telstra branding on the battery cover. You could most likely get a battery cover on ebay if you wanted to get rid of this.
I'm seriously loving the Mozart, great phone. Although I noticed AT&T is getting the focus, so I'd look at one of those too if I was you.

It does. I purchased in HD2 from Telstra that worked fine in the US until I lost it.
AT&T 3G
I bought a Mozart Telstra brand from On The Go Solutions. I have not been able to get 3G on the phone. It should work they are both 850. Would using the Chevron unlocker make the 3G band work do you think? Anyone have any other ideas?
How much do you guys pay for it? I got the Focus as an upgrade but AT&T switched my $15 unlimited media-net plan to 2Gig smartphone plan once they detect I use it on their network. Thinking the Telstra Mozart shouldn't have such issue (been using X1 for years without being detected).

just to confirm you got the 7 Mozart T8697. if yes, then you should be able to get 3G. Check Settings->mobile network-> and make sure your 3G connection is set to On. i have the 7 Mozart and at&t 3G access is working fine on my grandfathered $15/unlimited smartphone data plan.
@jackleung - your data plan was likely changed because you upgraded with an at&t supported phone. the 7 Mozart is not sold/supported by at&t and i suspect that's why my data plan hasn't changed.

Thanks cortez for your info and confirmation. Maybe I am under their business plan (with 22% off the phone bill), just upgrading the phones alone did not change my plan.
Almost a year ago, I went to their online shop and got two AT&T Pure as a upgrade (I am on their family plan with ONLY one line has the $15 unlimited media-net plan, the other has no data at all).
Then 2 weeks ago, I walk by their retail store and just looking at the phones (didn't realize I was eligible to upgrade since the last one was less than a year ago). Somehow, the sale lady told me my primary line was eligible while the secondary wasn't (too complicate to understand how AT&T calculate the upgrade time frame). So I can buy the Focus for ~$200 but can't get the BOGO promotion. The contract I sign didn't change my data plan (except it automatic add family map and roadside support which I could remove them online).
Long story short, I am still on my media net as long as I don't use the Focus.
Can you tell me where you folks get the Mozart T8697 and how much you pay for that?
I wouldn't bother if I was you. Australian electronics are notoriously expensive - a Mozart from Telstra is almost $800 outright, and with the Australian dollar almost level with the US...

I just received my Telstra NextG Mozart 8697 Brand New, Sealed handset from an Aussie ebayer. I paid a total of $590US and that included shipping to the U.S. Ebay is full of sealed Mozarts from Telstra and some are a very good deal.
By the way, non-ATT branded phones which work on the ATT 3G bands in the U.S. are eligible for $10 unlimited data plans. I've been using Telstra phones on ATT with $10 unlimited data for a loooonnnngggg time. Whenever I get a new phone, i put the SIM card in, wait a day or two for the compulsory ATT message about the data plan, then head to my local ATT store, see "Clayton" and he changes the data plan to the $10 unlimited. Works great. YMMV but check with an ATT store that is not a company owned store (franchise).

$590 is really a good deal (hopefully I could sell the Focus to cover some cost)
And $10 unlimited is probably a grandfather plan and maybe hard to get. (Although I already satisfied with my $15 media-net unlimited plan).
@Lumic, Austria device price maybe expensive. But the long term cost is still cheaper for us if we could avoid the smartphone plan from AT&T(not to mention unlimited plan is not available to new user)

Hi
So I see a few threads containing info on shipping to other countries, and very limited with specific info with regards to Canadian interests. I am in the Toronto area of Ontario, Canada.
Questions:
1. Can the UK version work without issues with the Rogers network? Based on what other folks are saying it seems like it should be able to.
2. Who would be the best online reseller to go through to get an unlocked sim version to be shipped to Canada? What would be the best shipping option, assuming several options are available? Would buying through a US online retailer make sense?
3. Warranty? Should something go wrong, what are my options? Would Samsung only look at it if the unit is sent back to the UK for warranty? Can I buy extended warranty of some sort?
4. Costs? What's the general cost for unit, shipping and other taxes as I know we can't get the 'gift' label scenario going.
5. Any other info worth mentioning?
SGSII and Canada

1. In theory the phone should work on Bell Mobility, Telus, and Rogers 3g network (850 MHz and 1900 MHz) as the SGSII has HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100.
2. Clove.co.uk, Handtec.co.uk, mobilecityonline.com (US), etc..
3. Warranty is Samsung only, so you have to send it back to samsung in uk. In terms of extended warranty there are third party options like SquareTrade.
4. Its around $700 CAD (clove and handtec), $730 US for mobilecityonline. Both are with shipping costs. However, the kicker is the import fees. You have to pay taxes (13% HST) on the original price of the phone when the phone arrives in Canada. so you will end up paying something around $800 CAD in total.
Edit: It is confirmed that you will be charged tax (region specific, 13%HST in Ontario). No brokerage fees, apparently FexEx Express doesn't charge any fess for clearing customs. So no import fees other than the tax.
5. There is an option with imports where if the product is a gift worth less than $60 then there is no import fees charged. However, all three retailers listed above have refused to declare the product as a gift or worth lower than actual price.
At this point it seems like it might be a smart idea to wait but then again you never know how much the phone will cost when it arrives in Canada. The atrix is selling for $600 without contract so Im guessing SGSII will cost more.
I am going nuts trying to decide if I should preorder or not. As you can tell Im with Windmobile and today they announced new voice and data plans. Basically, now I am paying $35 for unlimited everything including data and voice. Now, if I buy the SGSII then I will have to move to Bell, Rogers, or Telus and I will have to pay atleast $50 for a smartphone plan. I keep asking myself, is the SGSII worth paying $800, changing your carrier, and paying more every month on your phone plan?
Hope this helps.
I'm in Richmond Hill myself : )
I had pre -order from clove and handtec (both UK companies) but cancelled from handtec even though it was cheaper... they were changing dates way too much and doing it quietly too as in on their website only while Clove would send me emails every few days with any updates regarding my order and the phone itself AND if there's any changes at all they always ask if I want to cancel my order or not. That's worth the extra 15 pounds to me.
As for buying through US retailer, well... you can't cause this phone isn't out in US either. You are correct as it will work with AT&T in US and in Canada it'll work on Rogers/Telus/Bell/Fido/Virgin/Koodoo (all the subsidiaries of the big companies). it'll work on other bands too like wind mobile and such I think however, no 3G coverage there because of the band difference. Cost wise its around $750 incl. shipping.
If i were you i'd be in a very tough situation as well haha. But... I get the exact same plan for the same price (a little less actually) through rogers minus the unlimited Data. i have 500 mb and i never seem to go over 150 in a month so thats never close to being an issue. plan inclues unlimited text / voicemail / evenings starting at 5pm and unlimited evenings and weekends too.

So you are saying that you get 500mb Data, unlimited text / voicemail / evenings starting at 5pm and unlimited evenings and weekends for around $35?
wow thats news to me, I actually dont mind 500mb data but I was under the impression that the minimum that you have to pay is $50 for smartphone plans with rogers. Please elaborate more on how much you actually pay.
If what you say is possible then that eliminates one of my worries. I dont mind changing carriers as rogers has better signal than wind. As far as the money for the actual phone, I can sell my current phone that will help me out.
well if i was to go with rogers' regular price for the closest plan its about $85 maybe a month. but even with that cant get 5pm evenings (earliest they have is 6pm) also for some of this they require you to activate a 3 year plan.
I get special rates from rogers thats why i end up paying under half the regular price which is why... im happy with them and didnt bother going to wind or any others
edit: also a few other things i get... enchaned text messaging and enhanced voicemail (whatever those are) and also super caller id.. whatever that is
I'd love to get this phone in Canada but I'd also hate to give up Wind... and waiting for an AWS version will probably take forever.
Just can't find a plan that comes even close to $40/mo unlimited EVERYTHING (even US calling which I use a lot) =(
youre not going to find one and also just so you know Wind Mobile I believe works on the same band as T mobile USA, i have the vibrant from T mobile and it works on wind.. 3g and everything. other than that if you dont need super fast internet access this will still work with Wind on Edge i believe.
$800 is really steep for a phone... but this one makes my mouth water. It probably won't be coming onto any of the big three until Q2-Q3. That's a lot of waiting... Yeah screw it I'm going to preorder this bad boy.

I'll probably end up pre-ordering as soon as I get payment for the phone I'm selling. I'm really afraid of the import charges, we know about the duties and HST but I heard that FedEx charges handling fees (Brokerage and Disbursement) so I think I'll end up paying even more than $800.
Hola
I will be going ahead and ordering my S2 via Handtech hopefully sometime tomorrow (Tuesday). I'll be watching this forum closely to ensure those folks who ordered in the UK received their phones without issue/delay.
One other question:
Who should I use for shipping and handling? FedEx, UPS or DHL?
Thanks.
I live in SWO. Pre-ordered from Clove yesterday. Then Handtec posted the fact that they actually have stock. I'm expecting that it may take 1-2 weeks before I actually have it in my hands, so a day or two difference isn't going to kill me (though the anticipation anxiety hasn't kicked into overdrive yet Just hoping I don't have to wait for a 2nd batch to arrive before my order gets fulfilled!
Also looking forward to the first person that confirms 3G on Rogers with an actual handset! :-D
i ordered mine from gum. Should ship tomorrow ups express.
I cound't help it... I ordered from clove too. hope I still make the first shipment. don't wanna wait too long, the anticipation is crazy!!

Expansys charges 5% premium but does anyone know if they suffer from the same duty/import charges as Handtec / Clove?

That 5% turns into 7.5% at checkout page. Strange, what kind of "tax" is this?

When I added the Galaxy S II into the cart on Expansys.ca website...it shows this:
$709.51
* Tax 5%35.48
* Shipping Information 24.95
* CDN $769.94
So the 709.51 is basically 430 GBP (price from Clove/Handtec) converted to CAD...then Expansys adds a ~5% premium on top.
If you go back to the beginning of the thread, np231 says there may be import fees in addition to handling charges from FedEx/UPS etc. That's why I want to know if anyone had experience with Expansys and how much more I should expect to pay at the end of the day...
Wind doesn't have an EDGE network so I don't see how it would work at all on wind. They only have a 3G 1700/2100mhz network so basically you can only use this phone on the big 3 with their ****ty plans. Not sure how long it will be before a T-mobile variant of the SGS2 will hit the US, only then could it be possible for Wind users to get it.

I'll let you all know just how badly I get bilked by Fedex/Canada Customs. My SGS II has shipped from Handtec and apparently due tomorrow in the Great White North via Fedex (though NOT holding my breath!). I'll be happy if it arrives by Friday (travelling next week and would love to have it!).
I generally only order from the US via USPS to avoid the brokerage/customs nightmare (rape!). In this case obviously not yet an option.
Considering you are in Montreal....I won't be surprised if you are slapped with the 13% GST+QST.
Glad I'm in Alberta
But yes, please keep us updated regarding import duties / handling charges.

Is HTC EVO 3D available in the UK? I can't find it on cariers website but ob websites such as buymobilephones.net I can...
Not available directly from the networks but places like Carphone Warehouse and buymobilephones.net etc are selling it on contract and sim free
Not sure if Orange has an equivalent, but I bought mine from Chitter Chatter, T-Mobile specialist, a few weeks back.
If your planning on buying one sim free, you can probably get it from there as they are meant to be unlocked. Double check first though.
Oh well, Orange is my current carrier in Slovakia. In the UK I will probably go with T-Mobile, because of their unlimited Internet, or maybe Three
I checked Chitter Chatter, found a deal. Is it the same one as this one?. Because I couldn't find any data on Chitter.
And I'm planning to buy the phone as a pay monthly deal.
As far as I know, the tariffs that Chitter Chatter have are the same as the T-Mobile direct tariffs, it's just that they sometimes get phones quicker than T-Mobile.
Wouldn't want to advise you on the best tariff as it's down to personal usage. This site might also help though:

Got my Evo 3D for free with an upgrade on T-Mobile through buymobilephones.net
I'm paying £35.75 a month over 18 months for flext 35 with unlimited data.

Instead of buying a prepaid SIM, consider getting VZ global plan $25 for 100MB. I will be travelling to Europe in July, few countries, and this is by far the cheapest option.
You can get a pre-paid SIM for like $30 and have a better plan and better service, when I was in Australia the signal sucked so I got a pre-paid SIM with 1500 minutes, 400mb data, unlimited texts, and unlimited data for social networks. Better deal than the Verizon plan.

Uhhh... what? You can get much better pre-paid SIM's for $25. 100MB will allow you to update a few apps, upload a few pictures, and navigate for a day. That $25 also doesn't include voice and SMS fees.

Tell me where in Italy or France I can get anything cheaper. In France there is couple day waiting period.
I don't know about France, but in Germany, for 25 Euro, I got a prepaid SIM with 300MB data and a 10 euro credit for international calls at 0.09 euro per minute. SMS are 0.09 each (a bit expensive), but local calls (in germany) were included in the price of the SIM. I think there was a different pricing structure you could choose at 1 euro per day for unlimited data, charged each day that you use data but my german language skills are quite shaky, so I may have misunderstood. T-Mobile DE was/is the carrier.

So I am ready to get a new phone to replace my 3+ year old Galaxy S4.
Replaceable batteries and expandable storage are must have features for me there aren't a lot of options out there.
Being rootable is also a must have feature and an unlocked/unlockable bootloader is a very strong preference.
I'm currently on Cricket (which is owned by AT&T and uses the AT&T network), the coverage and pricing are good but I may want to switch to T-Mobile in the next couple years. If I'm going to go T-Mobile that means I need a phone that supports T-Mobile Band 12 (I've used T-Mobile before without Band 12 and would not ever consider that again due to abysmal coverage).
I have searched both on XDA and on Google and I've found conflicting information about whether I could use the European H850 and have it work with T-Mobile Band 12, specifically I've seen several places where it's listed that the H850 supports LTE Band 12 but I don't trust T-Mobile to find some way to block their implementation of Band 12 for non TMO devices.
Does anyone here know for sure that I can use the European model LG G5 (H850) on T-Mobile and use T-Mobile Band 12?
Thanks in advance.
I have H850 on metro pcs, which uses T-Mobile network.
I forget which LTE band they use, but my LTE is faster than my WiFi...and yes it does have band 12 available as shown on the box my phone came in.
The H850 supports every band T-Mobile h830 supports plus like ten more.
I've had no dropped calls or any other problems in regards to my service.
Also T-Mobile doesn't care enough to block non T-Mobile customers from using every band they are paying for...
I use metro so I don't have access to the full T-Mobile network, just as cricket doesn't access full AT&T network...but my internet is beyond fast

What do you mean you don't have access to the full network? You're just prioritized lower than T-Mobile users, meaning you'll get throttled if the network is under heavy load, nothing else.
OK guys follow up question I'm ready to get an H850 where is the best place to buy one? Want an EU model that's bootloader unlockable and needs to come SIM unlocked obviously.

Definitely. There are others on here who pointed me in their direction. They are well established with tons of great reviews. I almost got scammed on with a bait and switch on eBay then somebody told me to go with Clove. They are legit. Use PayPal and enjoy your phone. My device from them had had no build quality issues and I've been nothing but pleased with my purchase
Clove have been around for a long time and are a respected retailer. Though they aren't the cheapest though.
I just bought one sim free from EE on the high street for £399 including taxes. I had to buy a payg sim for £10 though.
On my box it says B12 so no reason why it wont work.

Following up on this, I did end up buying from Clove, ordered on 6/16. it shipped on 6/20 but did not arrive until 7/9.
Bigger problem than the long shipping time was that there was very poor information on the status of my delivery. When they shipped (dispatched) they sent me a Royal Mail tracking number but whenever I checked it the only thing the Royal Mail web site said was that shipment was "on it's way" with no detail or progress let alone an estimated delivery day. What's worse was that about a week into the shipping time the Royal Mail site stopped providing any status at all, saying that they had no reference of my shipment. After a few days of this I was getting really worried that my phone was lost in the mail but eventually the tracking number started returning a result in the USPS system.
It took 2 weeks for the phone to get from the U.K. to the U.S. and another 5 days to get the last 25 miles to my house.

thats odd as clove are a good fast shipper. usually shipments into the USA are held up by lengthy customs clearance on the US end. most USA mobiles unfortunately are a waste of time as they are pre loaded with crazy carrier bloat and the network restrictions are absurd. steer clear of the h830 etc like the plague.
sorry you had to wait
