Hi all
I havent visited here in some time and would like to know what the current "best rom" is. You know, stable, fast, doesnt drain battery. Working Camera and camcorder with flash. Whats the hottest one out right now? So many to choose from!
I think it wrong section
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
Personally I flash baseband .52 - then use xRecovery to switch between the CM7 Gingerbread (FreeXperia) and Wolfbreak CM 6.5 (version 5 but 6 is out now) and think that this is a really nice setup as it gives me everything of Froyo working perfectly and ability to check into the upcoming development being made with the GingerBread work from the FreeXperia team.
As a developer this is perfect for me to check, then I also have a stock Eclair 2.1 to go back and ensure compatibility on that front.

I don't know if there's an OVERALL best ROM as such (they're all quite good).
But you can split it in different categories.
Most stable: Tied between Wolf's CM 6.1.3 v54 & Z's AOSP 2.2
Most complete: Again as above (working camera/camcorder including Goggles/Barcode scanner - and pretty much everything as stock SE ROM but faster! ).Now you also have achotjan's and rendeiro's ROMs.
Fastest: For 2.2 ROMS I think it is easily Trips's MIUI ; for 2.3 I'd say rdannar's ArcBread.
Doesn't drain battery: ?? - It all depends on everyone's APPS, serttings etc. Though, I'd say Trip's, Z's, and WB's are the fastest.
Hottest right now is easily J's CM7 (over 1 million views!). Plenty of promise with 2.3.
deffinelty by far trip's MIUI rom its the most stable and the best rom for daily use
Z's FreeX10 beta4 is really good too that roms stock android 2.2
I really like CM 6.1.3, however if your a fan of the iPhone interface the TripNMiUI FINAL 1.0.3 is an excellent option. I have used both and they are both solid
Not playing favorites but depending on what you are looking for the following roms are probably the most complete and stable out.
Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 v054 (v06 is on it's way)
TripNMiUI Final 1.03
Jerpelea's CM7 J015 (2.3.3 mod) (Don't think camera is working in this one yet)

Goggles definitely works on those tow. But I think you may have to use Scanlife or Neoreader as your QR/barcode readers.
why not just use goggles to scan barcodes ?
Rendeiro2005 has a nice ROM also. Give this one at least a look. I get a quadrant score of 1301 on mine with over 100 apps total counting system apps.

No another best rom thread.
Thread closed. What's the best for you probably is not the best for others. Please try them.

Hi!
I'm new here and first of all I'm sorry for my bad english
I buyed a SE X10 mini pro but I don't really know which ROM I should install!
Please, can you tell me the best one with its advantages and disadvantages?
The best would be Android 2.3 but I have read a bit about it, saw that it could work (is that right?), but 2.2 would be good to see youtue vids and play some games from the market.

Edit:
Am I always able to put a new ROM on my mobile?
I installed "[ROM] Froyobread | v023c | 28/07/2011 (Mini Pro)" today, works a treat, marketplace a bit slow for some reason but looks a lot better than the 2.1 marketplace.
Can finally get my apps onto my SD card too.
If you can live with VGA video go for Ginger. Otherwise go for Froyo
Do you want eyecandy over stability go for a the "packed" ones. Otherwise go for the stabel ones
Eclair (2.1)
Sony Ericsson W8 E16i Port
Iridium rom (U20i)
Froyo (2.2)
Froyobread
CyaNoComb (stabel)
Cyanogen Froyo CM6
CyaNo (R)Evolution (stabel)
Gingerbread (2.3) (VGA-cam only)
SonyBread 4.0 Final
Andread
xCyanogenPro - Gingerbread
Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7
Did I miss anyone? Or misleed?
New to installing custom ROM? Go here: [TUT] From stock ROM to custom ROM for n00bs (X10 mini pro)
Thank you for your answers but I don't know which I should use...
The Market should be fast, most apps should run and I want to see YouTube vids. VGA isn't really good and the X10 mini pro has got a 5MP camera!
So, I don't know what to use!

@Emperor.dk: Can you watch Videos (YouTube etc...)?
What are the advantages at the different ROMs?
Thank you for all answers!
Edit:
One question left:
Whats the baseband? Can I change it? Or could it be that I can't install another ROM?
Sorry, double post!
Delete this!
Yes, YouTube app plays video with no problem.
btw... just swiched to FroyoBread. More stable ROM if you ask me. (YouTube app also works here)
The ROMs are not that different in look, byt might be in feel (lag, stability, speed).
No harm in trying some of them.. The first custom ROM install might make you shiver. My first install went wrong and the phone keept bootlooping (i think the ROM wasn't a mini pro ROM, haha), but Sony Ericsson PC Companion fixed that for me.
Your baseband is shown i Settings. It MUST mach the required baseband by your chosen custom ROM.

Since CM6 beats CM7 any time performance wise (at least it seems to me that way) it would be a HELL of a ROM, MiniCM6+custom Linux kernel compatible with 2.2.1 with enabled performance goodies OR even a sweet HTC Sense ROM at 2.2.1 with a custom kernel. If no dev is willing then plz reply or pm me with general guidelines on how to do this myself, never done linux kernel dev but have had my share with low-level programming and asm optimizations, (e.g. code that calculates exp(-r^2/s) using SSE and is faster than ICC and GCC )

Well, in my point of view, at this time MiniCM 2.1.3 + nAa kernel 05b beats minicm6 in every side of it

with cm6 in my phone battery discharge 6% per day (cpu 600~122 mh), I belive that can long one week but I use much my phone
we want custom kernel in cm6
I got pretty much the same battery life with minicm6..
Never went of above 2 days, even with stock eclair ROM
Not talking about battery but performance, use linpack to confirm
both roms on stock kernel with stock frequency and scheduler set to performance
Naa.. I don't trust linpack or any benchmarking app when it comes to x10 mini..
I just test it to play games, 3d games,
currently with minicm 2.1.3 and nAa 05b kernel, for the first time, I repeat, for the first time, for GB ROM on x10 mini, I can play smoothly NFS Shift, Crazy Snowboard, Trial Xtreme 2, and Plants vs Zombies without crashed out.. those things are only achieved with STOCK or FORYO ROM only before.. but now I can do it with GB
Plus, that so many additional features that GB has,
now I can say that MiniCM7 beats any ROM available for mini at the time, I'm 100% sure
note that, MiniCM7 2.1.3 + stock kernel >>> IMPOSSIBLE!
My phone setting:
- 600 MHz
- smartass v2 governor
- compcache 18%
- all animation enabled
- image dithering enabled
yes i know that it is impossible use a pre-customkernel version.
All i am saying is that CM7 performance prior to custom kernel was inferior to that of CM6.
I have tested 2.05 and 2.06 of cm7, I could not run more then 3 aplications that the last used had closed so easy, the brightness of cm7 was more glossy then cm6 - its one fact that I think let the battery drain more fast then cm6 (test by your self, cm7 is like cm6 in ultra brightness)
Im sure when I say that battery consumption in cm7 was 20%+ per day and cm6 6%- per day
all this let me be in cm6 and let me think cm6 is better then cm7
nAa could update cm6, fixing same things that have fixed in cm7 (like radio) and add custom kernel
One more vote for miniCM6 with custom kernel. Currently using miniCM7, would prefer cm6. At least it's worth a try, maybe minicm7 is far more advanced in development right now and therefore already better than miniCM6 could ever be, but until recently miniCM6 was the best ROM out there.
Hello XDA-Developers,
I´m looking to flash my OS on my LG P500 to Android 4.0.3.
How much is there Speed diffrence from Android 2.0.1,2.2.1 and 4.0.3 ?
What is the most progressed Custom ROM ?
Hope for help
kind regards SyntaX
Well, in my opinion, there's a huge difference both in speed an performance. I currently have lupohirp's CM9 4.0.3 ROM and i can say it's beautiful and it's worth a shot if you want a good ROM.
The only major problem is that camera doesn't work, but apparently it will soon be fixed.

Do you mean the spped diffrence in a positive way or in a negative way?
So more fluent with 4.0.3 than 2.2 and 2.3 ?
Another Question:
How is the Battery lifetime ?

Oh, fotgot to mention )
For me it happened like this :
2.2 -> 2.3 : The speed increased very much when i updated to 2.3, so this would certainly apply to 4.0.3 aswell
2.3.7 -> 4.0.3 : It wasn't such a big difference because the CM7 ROM i used for 2.3 was pretty fast itself, but i sensed a good improvement going to ICS.
If you OC it to 480/748 (conservative governor) it will work flawlessly.
The battery time is not so good, but i still hope they'll do something about this.
This is all personal experience and i can't assure you that it will apply to you too, so do a Nand backup before flashing ICS so you can go back anytime.
Good luck !
I tried KANGs CM9 but i got a BootLoop.

As of right now, Ice Cream Sandwich roms shouldn't be recommended as daily drivers. Major bugs such as Camera/Video still need to be fixed and from my personal experience, the battery life is absolutely terrible.
All 4.0.3 roms are fine. All things work. Even camera (no preview yet but it is solved already)
Battery life is ok. I can reach 20 hours for now. Will be improved later.

what is the best rom for gb? :good: In your opinion.
thank you so much
idk cause i use ics..but you can try forsakengb v3.0..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752953
Here are some : repack4pda V7, Rayonium, forsaken (and maybe more that i forgot?)
Your choice depends on what you personally prefer ...."boring stock, but no bugs, or more themed and tweaked, but higher chance of bugs.
Repack4PDA is as stock as possible, which means it has no bugs and is extremely smooth without any tweaks as it doesn't need any.
As Repack4PDA is like stock GB, for some people that is "boring", so if you prefer more theming you should use forsaken or rayonium
The more themed and tweaked roms need more maintenance, and have longer threads due to that , which result in regular updates for minor bugfixing en more tweaking.
I tweaked a lot on GB and ICS ROMS, but in the end it didn't help me much, which is "frustrating" sometimes. It's like tuning a car....you can put an open-air intake filter, another exhaust, a spoiler....but with the same engine inside you wont gain much in the end Theming is like painting the car in another color you like.
P.S. for ICS (also close to stock, no bugs) I would suggest Superleggera ICS, as it's smooth too and the only "odexed" ICS ROM.

Michel
