Okay I've tried everything, full charge on batt, pull batt out and replace while holding back, still it won't go into flash mode. I have debugging clicked. Any ideas?
Update your flashtool, let it prepare your flash and follow the steps it tells u to (turn off phone and connect the usb cable while holding back). No need to reinsert the battery anymore, that's outdated P:

Got Flash Tool 0.2.8 installed and tried again, still nothing. The green light comes on like normal then goes out. After that the screen comes on with the SE. The light turns yellow and the charge batt symbol shows on the screen.
I'm a little more confident in trting to clean my phone so I'd like to get it to flash mode. I have flashed Generic 2.1 so I know it did work.
Are there any settings that might have changed?
EDIT: Alright it works with SEUS. I guess I haven't been holding the back key long enough. I'll give it another try.
EDIT 2: Well still nothing. Acts the same as described above with both 0.2.6 and 0.2.8. Any ideas???

Iv'e been having the same problem with my X10,can't boot into Flash Mode. Did you ever fix the problem with yours? If so what was the fix? I could use some help. Thanks
Had your issue today itself but i fixed it by doing the following i pulled battery out and was already holding the back button when i saw the picture whit the instructions on how to connect i took out my phone before it boots up and reinserted while holding back button it worked

Tried your method but had no success. Nothing seems to be working to get to flashmode.
I'm just now experiencing this as well. I notice too that I can't get my phone to go into usb development mode, or mount USB like normal either. Has anyone found a way to recover from this? Normally flashing is the solution, but I'm unable to get into flash mode!

If anyone is still looking for a solution to this mine was pretty stupid, but I'll share anyway in case it helps. Windows update had apparently been doing some things I didn't know about, which messed up my USB drivers in a weird, half-functional way. When I rebooted and the updates completed, I was able to get back in. Once again, turning everything off and back on fixed my problems...

so i bricked my vibrant yesterday. i was running macnut r12 and i tried to flash one of my backup roms. since then my phone gets stuck at the galaxy s gt-i9000 screen. i've searched all day for a solution and nothing has worked.
none of the button combinations i read to boot in recovery or download mode has worked. odin sometimes does detect the phone as com3, but that's as far as i can get it.
is the phone pretty much dead? any help would be great. thanks!
I had the same problem when I tried to downgrade from a 2.2 ROM, to a 2.1 ROM. give this thread a read, and you should be able to fix it in under five min.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458
I did the same yesterday.
My fix was to remove the battery, re-insert, immediately go into download mode, do not try to boot. Then use odin to put on a stock ROM.
Worked for me.
FYI, this anso allowed me to get into clockwork, but I could not successfully recover anything using it.

You're phone's fine...last week mine got to the point where I couldn't get it to do anything at all (caused by my first attempt to use odin...ironic, huh? haha). It was my first brick, so I was sweating bullets.
You need to get into download mode...once there you'll be good. Here's the thread that saved me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9370249#post9370249. I had to pull everything (sim, sd, battery), plug in the usb, hold both volume rockers, then reinsert battery. Presto...dl mode.
And it might matter what version of odin you're using. Version 1.0 is what bricked my phone b/c it froze part way through a restore. I downloaded v1.3 and it worked flawlessly.
thanks for the reply everyone. i've tried getting the phone to boot in dl mode, but nothing seems to work. i've tried pulling out the battery, sim, and sd, holding both vol. buttons and plugging in the usb and all i get is the charge screen.
another question i had is when i plug my phone into my computer should the computer still detect the phone even at the state its in?
Mine didn't. But I also was able to do what the previous post said.
Remember you have to have both volume buttons pressed while you put the battery in. not after.

Hey, I am running Free X10, and I recently re-flashed Bin4ry's "Dualtouch for all roms" file because it was working incorrectly. Now, that works, but when my X10 is turned off and I plug it in, it goes into Flash Mode for a few seconds before going into charge mode. It does this automatically, without me holding the "back" button, and it even does it when I use the wall socket. Any ideas as to what might be causing this and how to fix it?
Any suggestions/thoughts appreciated.
P.S. The phone works fine otherwise.
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, please move accordingly if so. Thanks

have u made a backup before flashing dual touch...??
Simply reflash complete firmware.
1. wrong forum.
2. it is not going into flash mode. just because the green led comes on does not mean it's in flash mode....it is just showing that there is power to the phone..It does this by turning on the led for a second since it can't just show a notification on the screen if it's powered off.

It never really did that before. It would simply stay blank, then come up with the orange LED and the Battery charging icon. Also, it takes longer to get to the charge mode because of this. Reboots when plugged in also has this happen.
Edit: No backup before reflash of dualtouch because it doesn't mess with any user data, its more of a plugin. Full article Here
yo ive had the same problem forever.. Sorry to say it but you can't get rid of it.. Well I can't at least.. Flashing new firmware..repairing withpc companion etc..
lol..
You can even take battery out while its in "flashmode" Right?
And it still stays green...
lmao..
Anyways if you figure out the solution...... Pm me please..
Best of luck ..

Can't even flash
I have a somewhat similar problem. When I try to plug the phone into flash mode, the green light goes on for 9 or 10 seconds, then goes into charging mode. I'm basically stuck with what I have. I can't flash to repair, and when Gingerbread comes in July I won't be able to flash into that I hope you find a solution cause this is killin' me.
If the loader is not sent within a certain amount of time it will either go to charge mode or power on.
Besides, when gingerbread comes out for it, do a factory reset, and then use the SEUS like you would.

You can not just put your phone into flash mode without a separate app to tell your phone to be in flash mode...like seus or flashtool.
If you're using flashtool you must choose a file to flash for it to tell your phone "get ready to go to flash mode" If you aren't prompted by either app to put it in flash mode you won't be able to do it.
If flashtool doesn't work for you, use seus and go through the steps until your phone is in flash mode....once the green led is on & stays on you're in flash mode and you can close seus, then continue to use flashtool to flash your files.

same problem
so i was reflashing to cm7 #71 last night and i always do a clean install by formating boot system and cache. after i formated the 3 idk why but i let the phone shut off.
now i am stuck at just the vibrant logo. i have tried getting into cwm and download mode with no success. i plugged it in to the computer to see if i can at least access to adb no help there either.
does any body have a solution to this on this?
Um, first question; why do you format /boot? No where in any directions do they tell you to format that as that's where you're kernel is located.
And, if you can't access dl mode with the hardware buttons, why didn't you headed the large red letters telling you not to use CM7 if you can't access dl mode without the hardware buttons?
Have.you tried vol+ vol- and then USB? If you're running gb bootloaders (which you shouldn't be), then I don't know the button combo.
But the only way to recover is by geting into dl mode and Odin back to jfd.

try this always works. take battery out phone, plug in usb to pc and phone hold vol + and -, and insert battery at same time, should put u in download mode.
Assuming u have a froyo bootloader
1) Power down ur phone
2) hold volume up + volume down then plug ur phone to a PC or laptop....don't let go of two volume buttons...
3) should b in download mode...

You could get a JIG which will automaticly put it into download mode. It can be found here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0053H73JQ/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/188-7446597-2980456

yea i was able to make one for 2 dollars and it works beautifully just now i cant get the computer to reconize the phone. i have the right drivers loaded but its seeing it as some crazy junk
edit: well got all the drivers working. made a new better jig and was able to get odin to reconize it.
didnt flash though. seemed jammed up. so i took it off of odin which left the phone in the phone to computer screen( PROGRESS) plugged it back into the computer. odin saw it and presto! back up and running on JFD
Ditto
I have done the same thing! Sent you a pm... Let me know what driver config you had to use to get it working.
Thanks!
Hello!
I read for hours now, bot no luck
I flashed my x10a with flashtool with generic rom.
After flash, as the flashtool says, just turned off and on the phone.
But nothing happened(green led blink one and do a sort vibration, thats all..)
no logo, no sound nothing happens.
I tried to reflash again, but windows says: Cannot recognize the device
In the control panel device manager show "unknown device".
Because of this , cannot reflash with the tool, because it's waiting for the recognized device too..
when i press the back and connect the cable, the green lighting for a minute , and turns of..
Yes, i have the correct drivers(as you can see i flashed before).
Help me guyz, please, if U can
Does it go into flashmode?
Did you try flashing it regardless of unknown device in windows?

Try flashing back to stock non root. It may suck but at least you'll have a starting point. It'll read. Ust make sure you have newest flashtool. Just had the same problem with my x10. Its still havin troubles tho.

Try removing battery, insert usb cable, insert battery while holding back button. I spent 8 hours last night just trying to get back to stock. Your phone is semi bricked. Its a pain in the ass but it eventually works.

Hey go back to stock 1st then try rooting later,
1) launch pc companion
2) select support zone
3) now select phone software update
4) then click on repair phone
Now software will download the stock ROM along with stock kernel..
When the software asks you to connect in flash mode, do the following
1) turn off the phone
2) Remove battery
3) Connect the USB cable to phone as well as to the laptop
4) Place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from the left)
5) Green light should glow and the stock ROM and kernel should be flashed automatically..
When it's done you should have a stock unrooted X10, if you want then flash custom Rom after rooting it, be sure to unlock the boot loader if u want to flash custom kernel... Good luck

what do you mean by flashtool cant be done?
try this:
1) open flashtool
2) press the flash button and select any stock ftf firmware
3) now after pop up comes to connect phone in flashmode---- remove battery, connect the phone via usb, and lastly pressing back button insert battery simultaneously.
Now the flashing should start hopefully.
if this doesnt work please post the error you get in flashtool
i have the same problem with my phone only mine is x10i i reflashed 2.3.3. ftf ..like 7..8 times ..and still not working..btw smth the flashtool give me some error ..and other times works and says that the phone was flashed ..but phone still only 1 virbate and 1 blink green light now i am kinda bumped because i repair it once ...and now has the same problem
hello all!
thanks for all help.
What happened:
Hopefully i found the USB port have error. If is stand in half leg, not breathing for a minute and beg for christmas the connection made successfully, and first the SEUS , after the flashtool can recognize the phone well.
Now the phone working perfectly and going to my friend's service for fix the usb port problem.
Ok, hi guys... yesterday I misinterpreted some instructions before flashing Rajeev's PureX v4.1 rom... was on Niaboc79's ExistenZ Y v2.6.0... so went on, wiped and factory resetted... then, instead of formatting system/data, I formatted data AND system so obviously now it gets stuck at the Sony logo when booting because it has nothing to boot up and the only way to shut it off is with the small red button on the left side until it vibrates, resets then shuts off...
I then told myself I could simply flash a .FTF back from FlashTool, but alas, not this time... ok, I'm on D6503 Z2 with locked bootloader which is not unlockable... and now, when my phone's off and FlashTool asks to connect phone in flash mode the phone doesn't act as it normally would. when plugging usb cable, instead of the original green led, it quickly shows red, then green then nothing and on flashtool we can now see an error which is shown in the screenshot below.
Drivers are installed and I guess the problem now has to do with the bogus leds as they are the same just trying to connect in flash mode out of FlashTool... I Googled and read a lot about it yesterday on XDA and the only potential answer I could find was telling to flash a .ftf whrough FlashTool which was my first bet anyway but now, I really can't think of anything and would please appreciate your assistance about that... I hate to say this but I must admit what I'm requesting now is some help to get me through my own f*** up, please...
Might be a corrupt .ftf , try downloading another one or build your own with xperifirm+flashtool.
You can also try repairing with sony pc companion app...
Thanks for the quick answer... In fact I tested with 4 different ftfs I know are working... and as I said the problem is with the inability of phone to enter flash mode and its wrong leds when connecting to flash mode; not a software issue... I also tried with PCCompanion but it fails at detecting the phone since it freezes at the Sony logo and doesn't boot anything...
EDIT it also doesn't charge when I plug usb or ac. Instead it quickly toggles leds red, green, none one time and stays off... same way as when I try connecting it to flashmode holding vol-...
I've flashed many sony phones that don't boot / bootloop with flashtool and they always come to life again unless there's hardware problems
You phone is beeing detected in flashtool as beeing in flashmode so it's entering the correct mode. As a last resort i would try flashing on another pc/os , i still think it's pc related... are you using any android emulator on the pc? bluestacks / andy or that kind of stuff?
They cause loader.sin errors too... had that happen once on my work computer, uninstalled bluestacks and flashed fine afterwards.
Sorry i can't think of anything else right now...
I don't have another pc, but I reinstalled a pc backup so it is as when I originally set it up... reinstalled flashtool, reinstalled drivers and launched FlashTool to flash a .FTF. It just did the same as before flashes red, flashes green then nothing but the same errot message in FlashTool... but I noticed one thing, everytime I just plug phone to pc, Flashtool states it's in Flash mode as it is not. it was simply plugged in... and I don't use such as BlueStacks... and anyway the phone's leds react wrongly first then the asked action, flashing, cannot be applied hence the error message in FlashTool... thanx for your help...
I'm really used to flashing stuff and I know my mistake now was to format the system partition. From that time, it became impossible to flash any .ftf and the only info, signal I've got is the led quickly displaying red then green led intead of just green then starting to flash, when cable is plugged in, holding VOL-...
Damn formatting the system partition should not hard-brick your phone bro i've done exactly the same mistake on my also unlockable BL Z2 a long time ago, wiped everything and rebooted the phone without flashing the rom xD phone would only show sony logo (can't remember led status) but it flashed normally and came back to life. maybe you got really really unlucky and your bootloader got messed up somehow :| You already did everything i would have done without success, i'm also out of ideas... but xda is full of great minds, maybe someone else can help you better.
You are absolutely right... I had done the same mistake on my xperia T, a while back, and a simple flash from flashtool had taken care of it... I don'T even come to ask for help, usually... when I mess things up, I have always succeeded in bringing the thing back to life... until now...
thanx a lot for your help.
EDIT: Oh, even worse now... when flashtool is done preparing the FTF to be flashed and asks to plug in phone holding VOL-, I tried just plugging the phone WITHOUT holding any button and it did the exact same error I screenshotted earlier, with same red/green/none scheme... So computer really sonsiders phone to be in flashmode from the moment it's plugged in...
No problem, wish i could help more. It does seem like your phone is stuck on fastboot or flashmode. If you just power on the phone and connect it to pc (no flashtool running) does your pc device manager detect your phone? what device does it detect? If you connect in fastboot mode (vol up + plugin usb cable) what do you see in the device manager? Maybe try completely discharging your phone, leave it powered on for a day or so until the battery dies completely, maybe it'll "reset" to normal mode? Just throwing some ideas now, at least we're keeping the thread alive, maybe someone more expert will look at it too
