I am running Froyo aosp right now, if i want to switch over to touchwiz are there any precautions I should do , or can i flash touchwiz right over aosp?
Just wipe data, cache, like normal, and flash over the Touchwiz rom of choice. Just make sure that you flash a Touchwiz kernel after flashing everything else if the rom didn't flash one already.

so, this may be answered somewhere else. but i couldnt really find a straight answer. i have bionix fusion flashed right now, so if i want to flash another rom, can i just flash it with bionix still installed? or should i reflash to stock then flash a new rom? sorry if this was confusing, just trying to get straight answer.
You can do either, most customs roms do a wipe for you automatically so it's like a fresh install. Just remember to disable any lag fix you have running

No. you must start from fresh (stock). Odin back to JFD then root then install the rom. If you have voodoo installed, always disable it before you flash anything.

I have flashed many times over custom roms, you don't need to go to stock unless you are going from a 2.2 to a 2.1 rom
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
but to avoid future errors it's always a good habit to start from stock, especially if you're from bionix for instance and would like to install froyo. That huge modification requires a start from stock in order to avoid future errors. if it's minimal flashing then you can just flash without going to stock.

I would agree with that

That's not true. You can do a straight flash over another rom. However, after you flash 4 or 5 roms over and over, it is good on occasion to flash to stock rom. I must have flashed every single Sombionix and Eugene rom available and only flashed to stock before flashing one of their roms once or twice.
Honestly if you flash to stock rom everytime, then flash a custom rom, you're really doing extra work for nothing as a few posts up had stated " most custom roms wipe everything anyways"; so just flashing back to stock, then flashing a custom rom is kinda pointless.
Moved to Q&A as not development.
Answered my question
I was just about to ask the same question. Thanks to all for this thread.
Ok so i am wanting to install the Evil Fascination ROM and i currently have ICS build 6.5 with the glitch kernel. Evil Fascination says that it is a ED01 based rom, so what exactly does that mean? I have the DI01 factory samsung Odin package, so if i odin that, and then install the CWM recovery and wipe data/cache, will this rom work?
I am just confused and i have read all over but not found my answer. Thanks for anyones help!

Evil fascination was a froyo based rom from about a year ago that is very outdated. Ed01 was the first official Verizon over the air update to android 2.2(froyo) and evil fascination was a custom version of that.
I would recommend updating to your current rom to ths 7.1 or one of the others ics (AOKP, gummy, or codename)
But if you just want to try a really old rom for fun then go for it.

Really what I want is a nice dark ROM (like evil fascinate) that is based on 2.2 that isn't that outdated
The reason for the switch is because I need to run an Android app that doesn't fully work on ics so I wanted to switch to a different one

Unless you need/love touchwiz I would suggest CM7 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385624
With cm7's theme Chooser app you can browse themes available on play store (market) that will satisfy your needs.

SUPERDARK aint based on GB ,
get the EH03 (official verizon GINGERBREAD) based ROMS , they are all extremely good and work pretty well, provided you follow the instructions carefully.
here are the three ( not in any order )
1.. [ROM][KERNEL][RECOVERY][02.03.2012] GeeWiz 2.6 EH03 TouchWiz Debloated
2.. (Rom){EH03}[1.19.12] SuperClean3 Milestone 2
3..[Rom]{2.7.12}[EH03] TSM Resurrection 2.2 (touchwiz4/tsm parts)
the superclean and the resurrection Roms have many themes available , there are ca few available for GEEWIZs well in there .
chk here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218257
just choose the ones u like
all these are Solid ROMs , just depends which of these ur fascinate prefers .
my 2 cents .
aokp has a dark theme...

So I have had a nightly CM9 on my GT for a while now. I recently got a Samsung Epic 4G Touch for my phone and there are tons of restrictions on which rom/kernal/recovery that you have to be on to go back and forth between ICS and GB.
Just wondering if I want to go back to a HC rom that I can just flash away and now worry about that. I can't remember if I ever when back to HC from ICS on my Tab.
Thanks
overcome rom
I have had some booting problems when trying to go from ice to hc . I tried a few but if u flash overcome hc rom u will be safe then you can flash any other Hc rom u like. I have done it a few times. Or if u are familiar with Odin you can use that without a hitch. Make sure u do a data wipe cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe Before u flash.
I go from ics to honeycomb on my tab all the time, and don't have any issues. Just remember to go into cwm and factory reset and wipe cache / dalvik before you flash.

What's your favorite ics rom if you don't mind me asking
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
I've switched between Overcome and CM9 without any issues - just make sure you do the usual backup, and wipe data/cache/dalvik cache.
I'm currently playing with CM9 Nightly, and AOKP - both seem pretty stable apart from the touch screen locking every now and then.

Unless you're totally bricked you can always restock with ODIN.

I have used both Cyanogenmod9, and AOKP build 36. Both are excellent ICS builds, and both have different options that make them stand out from each other. I can't say either one is better, but I started with CM9 so I tend to lean to that one more. My only gripe is probably the same gripe everyone else has: the camera doesn't work. It won't work until official ICS comes out, and I've accepted that. For that reason, task14 is my go-to ROM.

Thanks all, I just wanted to make sure since the Epic 4G Touch has so many restrictions on how to flash back forth between ICS and GB.
I have to restock my Tab with Odin and an 'official' ROM from samsung-updates.com first.
Trying to go back directly from AOKP to Overcome or Infamous with CWM Recovery leeds to bootloops for me or the ROM just won't install in Recovery...

I'm assuming you don't already have clockwork recovery on your phone? If not go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 and flash clockwork mod recovery with the update.zip in section B) in the guide. Once you have that taken care of you simply go pick a rom from the development section and follow the instructions which are usually factory data reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache from recovery menu then install zip from sd card. Some ROMs recommend flashing a gingerbread ROM before flashing an ICS or JB ROM. If you want a completely working phone I would recommend one of fishman or moped ryders 2.2 ROMS, ICS has the EU bug and bad gps, and JB is still in beta builds I believe. Just remember you can always upgrade by flashing with no problems but if you ever want to down grade you must Odin to stock 2.1 then go from there.

Look at my signature for a guide on how to install ICS ROMs. You'll need to look at it on your PC though and not the phone app.

I don't think he can see or SIG on xda premium, but anyway flash a froyo GB or ICS rom then flash the jellybean ROM.
Sent from my Jellied out Vibrant sandwich.
Check out the Hellybean nightlies Here and here and the Devil Kernel for ICS here and Jelly Bean here for the Galaxy S and variants.
Or you could use Odin to flash a gingerbread bootloader then flash jellybean right then.

Hi I've flashed my s2 with sentinel rom (basically cyanogenmod) so it's like a nexus 4 and I would quite like to flash a stock rom but not like the s2 rom like is there a way to flash an s3/s4 stock rom to my phone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No. Pls don't flash a rom that's not made for your phone as you will probably brick it. Look in Android development for what you want
I double dare you to try it.
Is there a way that I can go back to my original stock rom test it out and if I don't like it go back to my flashed rom?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
Make a nandroid backup from you current rom und flash an other rom. If its not fit you can restore your backup
Maybe you have to flash the kernel that you used to make the backup before you restoring.
Basically I want jelly bean but the stock version. Currently I'm using a rom that is jelly beans but is like a nexus 4 but I want the Samsung features. Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
i know, you wrote on OP sentinal rom. Just make a backup from your current rom in the recovery. And then you go to the download modus and flash a stock rom via odin. If you dont like it, flash a recovery and restore your backup.
Easy
Ok! Where can I get the stock rom from and can it be jelly bean? I know that when you buy the new s2s they have 4.1.2 installed! And how to you flash a recovery? Everything else I know.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Okay... do you flash the sentinel rom oder someone else? If you did it than you have to know what the recovery is. It the menue that comes up when you hold VolUp+Home+Power and boot. There ist an option "Backup and restore".
Here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ you can get the official stock roms, just search for I9100. To download you have to register, its free
Andi
Get your stock rom from samfirmware. Just scroll down and download the required Android version. You can get temporary recovery from recovery tools in play store or if you want permanent recovery you gotta flash a custom kernel.
