Pretty straight forward question -- is there any way we can port the Honeycomb google talk application to the GTablet? They have a system dump of the Xoom on their forum, but I had to send back my GTab for repair so I cannot test that application on the tablet.
The video chat on that version is the sole reason I would like it ported to Android 2.x. I've tried the Yahoo Messenger application, but a) not enough people I know use yahoo, and b) I get horrible quality through that application.
XD. i am in almost the same situation with quick office pro hd; the difference is that , because it is a paid app, it would be illegal to port it.

Running a Vibrant with Bionix-v 1.2.1 and I am wondering is anyone seeing any google apps with the print option yet. I see a cloud print app in the market but it's not by google, its by some third party. Would really prefer to see a actual google based version. For cloud printing to have been around since the beginning of january but still no apps available for android from google, whats the deal? And what adds insult to injury from everything I have read online Ipads/Ipods already have it. Come on google stand behind your stuff!
Anyways I have all apps updated to their most recent versions but still not seeing a print option in gmail/gallery etc.
Anyone running a gingerbread based rom? is it built natively there?
I tried searching but no app for Android. (other than the one by google)
I think the google voice app by google inc is good. But i just wish it had a character count. It messes up the texts when you go over 160 and it sends it as multiple and they dont even arrive in the right order to the destination.
Also i wish it wouldn't hang every once in a while when i press send. It's like its trying to send but it just hangs there. wish they could fix that. A timer there would be nice. I have to stop it by using task manager.
And be able to use have themes.
If there is an app that could replace the current that would be cool. If anyone knows of one that works just post me a link. I tried searching but no success..
If there is a mod for the current google app that adds these features that would be awesome. OR if there is a good API to access the google voice. Or a project that is currently being worked on. That would be cool too.
I have been looking for one for a while too, I tired pairing it with text plus and textfree but recent changes have lead to no avail. I guess we can't complain to much for what we are getting but oon the hand textplus is an amazingly beautiful app and I just want that level of design and features from Google, I don't feel it's unfair to look for Google to pick up their game. If any one knows of anything please post, I feel like a lot of people would appreciate it.
AFAIK Google does not have any API's for Voice, which is why you can't find anyone aside from Google with an app. One thing a lot of people don't realized is that just because Google made Android open source, doesn't mean they have to make all the apps for it open source also.
Is there anywhere we can go to request the release of an API or at least a redesign of the app?
Some of you probably already heard of Raccoon For those who didn't: It's a Google Play Desktop client with a focus on archiving your APKs.
The question that constantly seems to pop up with Raccoon is: "Will you be doing a native version?". And I keep asking myself "Why would anyone want to ditch the official play app for a third party product?" Of course, I can think of some reasons, but I'd like to hear it from you:
Would you want to get rid of the official Play app?
If so, what's the thing about the official client that ticks you off?
What would be on your wishlist for a replacement?
Would Gingerbread have to be supported
Bonus question: Would you be willing to fund development (an honest "no" is preferable over a dishonest "yes")?
I think it sounds like a great idea. Especially now.

Of course you cannot compare Ubuntu with Android
Ubuntu is on early stage of development
and also Google Play Service is Only for Android Devices (However some android not supprt it like Amazon Phones)
If you want Stable Apps for your Ubuntu phone search and look for Developer name that include canonical or Ubuntu Core App
There is Calendar App By Ubuntu Core App Developers
:good:
yeah i fully understand that no prob but i ve seen image of ubuntu touch goin on for long time now, i thought these basics were more achieved.
no prob, i am patient, i am more interested in the terminal function anyway, i d like to get native classic linux app like nmap and other working
There is actually a Google calendar sync.

Hello everybody,
i just got an acer liquid e700.
unfortunately, there's no cyanogenmod available for it, and scanning this and other android forums i soon realised that, if i use some inoffical rom, i will most probably loose the triple sim functionality.
so, how can i make sure my acer liquid e700 with stock android 4.4.2 kitkat does not call home to google?
it is rooted already.
i do not have a google account, so there's already quite a lot of stuff that wouldn't work anyway and can be disabled/uninstalled: drive, gmail, google (search?), google settings, google+, hangouts, maps, google photos, "play movies & tv", play newsstand, play store.
(that in itself is an impressive list. phew)
however, is that enough? there's still some questionable apps. most of all, acer's own apps.
...before i go into much more detail, maybe some guide is already out there?
bonus if it's for acer devices that ship with their very own brand of spyware.
in the end, i'm not a cryptofreak, but i'd like my phone to be as safe as my linux desktop:
i want to decide who and when uses the network, and i want to make sure that apps don't spy on other apps.
i want to listen to my local (on my desktop computer) music collection without google & the world knowing about it. just an example.
ps:
i'm planning on using f-droid as much as possible.
i read an article on a german android forum that said: things to do BEFORE your android phone goes into the internet for the first time:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/c...es-das-1-mal-ins-internet-geht-afwall.611866/
it comes down to having a working firewall and block everything, before you put data cards in or use wifi.
there's an older article here:

and these were also helpful:

here's a similar thread on that german forum:
