Let's collect some statistics regarding battery discharge rate when tablet suppose to be asleep, like overnight.
I'll start:
ROM - TnT lite 4.2, WiFi On, BT Off, in 10 hours 14% charge drop - 1.4% per hour.
with WiFi Off - around 1% per hour.
I was killing all apps on background before going asleep but this does not affect discharge rate too much, maybe 0.2% and as well might be just measuring error.
What is your tablet's discharge rate?
vegan 5.1.1 clean install, no additional kernel/OC tweaks
lost 30% over 6.5hr of sleep. battery usage shows very little idle time and alot of "android system". i wonder if that means something stayed awake and kept the tab from sleeping or what. o, and wifi was on and awake the whole time too
anyway to put this thing to sleep and last a few days like my HTC mytouch3g when i put it into airplane mode? that phone would drop to the lowest clock speed and sleep with very little battery drain

Why not just power it all the way off? Deep sleep is essentially Off anyway, minus the bootup time.
Cold start is about 50 seconds. When starting from standby - almost instant.
It would be nice if our GTablet can go into standby and don't lose charge with that rate.

Nice, but impossible. Just plug it in overnight. If you want it "always on" you can expect about 16 hours of standby with 4-6 hours of use mixed in. I'm so used to daily charging it doesn't even bother me anymore. Just really happy this thing goes all day on wifi without deep sleep... good enough.
Well, I am inclined to think that this is a software problem (Android OS). Xoom with HC does ok when in sleep mode. Someone say 3%-4% overnight.

Only way it would do that is deep sleep. As in, nearly off - everything powered down except ram, CPU halted.
That's essentially the same as putting your laptop to sleep, vs power down.
The GTab's deep sleep sucks. Not sure what's wrong with it, but it's below the level of android. So it could be a firmware issue. I'm happy with the 2-3% per hour drain when "on" but screen off, connected to wifi, able to generate alerts and alarms.
So, my interest was piqued
I use pershoot's UV/OC kernel, keep wifi on all the time, and use softlocker to make sure my gtab *never* deep sleeps. This is on Vegantab-ginger.
I installed batterymonitor widget, and am collecting data.
First interesting tidbit, my "screen off, but wifi on/not really asleep" power drain is 125mA
Given the 3650mAH rating of the battery, that gives me 29.2 hours total standby time in this state.
Working backwards, that's a drain of just under 3% per hour.
You're actually seeing MUCH WORSE than that, at 4.6% per hour (30% over 6.5 hours) so I agree with you, your software is doing something very bad. You can get nearly 50% better battery life by using gingerbread, pershoot's kernel, and keeping it from going into deep sleep

Any more details? Number of hours on standby? ROM version? Was it deep sleeping (wifi off, clock/time not updated until a few seconds after power on?)
Assuming 8 hours or so sleeping, this is much closer to the expected 1.125%/hour discharge rate for "deep" sleep, or about 90 hours total on deep sleep standby.

if that was indeed true (that you manage to get your tab to sleep for 8 hrs and only losing 10%) then i want whatever you got. I want my tab to be able to sleep for 3-4 days, even if it mean having to settle for JUST 1.0 Ghz
The lowest I've seen so far in batterymonitor widget is ~108ma draw (screen off, 214mhz clock, wifi off)... if the thing goes into "deep sleep" then batterymonitor (and everything else) stops dead, since the cpu is halted - you'd need to poke it inside to see what the load is when deep sleeping.
108mA gets you to 33 hours. To get to 72 hours you need to get the load down to about 50mA. That's the budget to keep the ram chips powered, and the on/off buttons
Battery drain with ext3 partition and S2E?
Is there a perfect way to check what's draining your battery? Recently I've been noticing that my battery consumes almost 20% of charge during night, whereas it used to only eat about 5% in my previous installation of CM7.
First install of CM 7.0.3 - Good battery life, night drain is only about 5-8%.
Second install of CM 7.0.3 - Worse battery life, night drain is about 25%.
The main difference in the second install in that I have made an ext3 partition in the sd card and I am using S2E and have moved some apps to the sd card. Will this consume more battery?
Had a look at the battery history in spare parts, and I see that the partial wake usage by Maps and K9 mail topped the list. Uninstalled both to see it they were the issue. I have Juice defender plus where I have configured data off hours from 12:30 am to 6 am. Still it drinks battery. Any thoughts?

Hi guys,
I'm using GingerMod v0.3 with the default kernel (ninphetamine 2.1.3).
My battery was at 100% when i went to sleep. After about 8 hours when i woke up, it dropped to 92%. Is that normal?
I have turned off automatic sync as well as gps. Even "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" was off. Display was at a minimum 3%. Most of the battery % was used up by Android OS.
given the percentage of the draining 8% over 8 hours i quess is pretty good. I quess different rom + kernel produce different effects. Yours is considered ok.
ya the drain is quite normal

1% an hour during sleep mode is considered good? i had the impression that it would only drop 3-4% during sleep.

More than good I'd say. And you never can have a constant rate, one night it will be 3-4%, other night it will be 9-10%, depends on the processes running at that period. If you have Better Battery Stats installed then you will be able to see what had cost that extra drainage under Partial Wakelocks section.
I normally have 3-4% drain in an overnight period of 8-9 hours, but yesterday it was 15%. Then I saw it was Camera360 Ultimate which was running and searching for GPS!
Regards.
That's about similar to what i get on standby with data enabled so yeah good battery there/
Thats good ? Mine drops 1 percent overnight (+-10 hours) with original battery Or stays at 100 until morning when I wake up with 2000mah bat... Data and wifi turned off.
But I presume thats just me being battery friendly user
I tried better battery stats and it seems the Email app is consuming the most resources during sleep. hmm...
So i put this unnamed rom v 1.1.0 over a day ago and also put the entropy kernel. after i did this initially i wasnt gettin any deep sleep but now after removing facebook widget it went into deep sleep. during the first day i got great battery life , almost 24 hours with one charge. then i charged it last night and now the battery life is pretty bad. it went from 100 to 90 within less than an hour with minimal use and nothing was really working... then i started playin music and that really drained the battery , but even after i close the music programs, they still show up in the partial wakelocks in betterbatterystats.. ive closed the app using running services , app killer and task manager but its still there.. and i have no idea how to remove it.. i tried to reboot but it still showed up...
also besides this the last time flashed unnamed rom on to my phone the same thing happened.. great battery life for the first day but horrible for the second day and so i had to remove it.. any help would be great? thanks
Exactly the same combination.
Still testing this but I do think the battery is dropping really quick.
4% an hour with no operation and deep sleep. Android OS is (the one with no sub items) consumes 18% of battery while cell standby only 3%...

4% an hour with no deep sleep = something's holding a wakelock
I came from Cynogen and was also noticing a fast drop in battery life. Things got much better after killing the battery life twice.
-> So far after 2 100% to 0% drains (Calibrating), the battery life has changed for the better.
-> I use wifi when I can. Set sleep policy to off when screen is off, in Spare Parts. I also have frozen half of my OS with Titanium Backup Pro, but I had bad battery even with this. CPU spy says Deep Sleep is working fine. I sync data manually.
My running services are:
Settings (1 Proc)
Task Manager (1 Proc 1 Serv)
Device Management (1 Proc 1 Serv)
Google Services (1 Proc 1 Serv)
Smart Keyboard (1 Proc 1 Serv)
-> Manual Screen Brightness. Using the Status bar sliding finger method if I need brighter.
-> SetCPU conservative seems to work great with Entropy

Sorry Entropy, it's with Deep Sleep. I made no operation, not even lit up the screen and info shows it does go to deep sleep. Still drains battery.

Placebo effect - our fuel gauge chip requires no calibration, and in fact, cannot have any calibration method applied to it other than pulling the battery for a few minutes.

What's the deep sleep percentage? Check my Known Drainers thread.
Does anyone else get this issue? If I turn it on in the morning, by the time I am home from school, it's down to 60% without even using it. I am on 2.3.5 if anyone wants to know, and I don't have any cpu intensive apps installed
You might try installing http://www.appbrain.com/app/powertutor/edu.umich.PowerTutor to see if you can pinpoint the problem. If wifi is on it will drain 3-4% per hour anyway. Make sure you don't have anything trying to sync (auto-sync off), like weather or news widgets. If you're on wifi all day and syncing, you can easily lose 40% in a day.

3-4% per hour if wifi is being actively used, as opposed to connected and in power saving mode I would imagine, as my device still has ~80% battery (from inside Settings, the battery icon on the main screen is still full) after sitting on my bedside table for just over 13h (I wasn't asleep for all of that, unfortunately!)
YMMV of course.
Not too "active"... but the battery is real wacky. It will "sit" at 80% while charging, and "sit" at 100% or 80% much longer than others. Yeah, mine with wifi off at night will only lose 0-5% in 12 hours. Sure wish it would do 1% increments and be more reliable! Using Batt Monitor Widget, the mV readings seem MUCH more accurate than system % readings... just wish the system would use mV readings to determine % left.
Before flashing CM9 to my mopho I had only used the stock rom, on Gingerbread my battery would last for 1.5 or 2 days, but since i updated to ICS it dies whitin 10~ hours of idle...
it usually goes from 100 to 70% overnight (6 hours). Recently I purchased Juice Defender Ultimate hoping it would help fix this issue, well... it did help but id didnt solve it, went from 30% overnight battery drain to 15-20% with airplane mode enabled in JDUltimate.. wich is ALOT from what i've read most users are getting (1-2% overnight, am i right?).
I've wiped my battery stats over and over (even tried the market app method) and nothing has changed.
I installed BetterBatteryStats and Watchdog from market, and both of them and the android battery stats show that "suspend" or phone idle are the cause of my battery dying so fast.
If anyone experienced anything similar and knows a way to fix this I would really appreciate it!!
Ive never seen my Photon go overnight with only a literally 1-2 percentage loss.. Not on stock, Cybiks CM7, or on CM9. but it usually only drains maybe 10 or 15 percent on higher end so nothing major. Talking ~8 hours off charger idle with random text or two and led going nuts blinking all night with data/wifi/bluetooth etc off but NOT in airplane mode. Are you on latest CM9 build? My bet is you have a random app screwing with phone keeping it from entering sleep mode or whatever its called. Check the "Awake" time under the battery settings to see if the awake time is allot higher than the "Screen off".
I have the same problem, no matter what kernel, no matter what cm9 build, still draining too much in idle. I know, others don't have such draining. But I give up and I am back on cm7, where everything seems fine.
I noticed that this happens to me as well. Previously, I fixed this by re-calibrating the battery. Now I was suspecting skype, but it is not causing this. I have noticed that having both GPRS/3G enabled and Wi-Fi drains power very quickly (about 4 times faster than having only one of those switched on). I'm using Photon in Europe in GSM network, so not sure is it the same with CDMA.

during night, "Awake" seems to be up about 50-60% of the time, a lot more than "screen on"
I´ve read that setting your phone to "never turn screen off" shuts down suspend process and battery actually lasts longer, has anybody tried this??
Are you guys logged into Latitude? I signed out of it yesterday and now after 10 hours on battery, although 6 of it was sleeping, I still had 86% left.

I am not sure, but never logged in latitude myself, so I think, no.
And CPU was perfectly sleeping with turned off screen. But still the same draining. And what I know, it has nothing with gsm.
I as well am having the same problem, dropped from 88% to 72% within 20 minutes.
phone idles killing my battery at 50% any fixes?
try wiping battery stats in recovery with a full charge
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Huawei Mate 9's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Same as me.. hoping it gets better though..
from 23:00 to 9:00 battery drained from 14 to 8% with everything on (2 sims, 3g&4g+, wifi on - not connected, location on.
I think that at some level depends on how long we have it. I find that the the power consumption raises as day goes by.
I loose 1-2% of battery per night. Tweaked settings a bit. . Wifi/Bluetooth/NFC off during night. Check which apps are are eating your MaH in battery usage details during night time. For example my biggest eaters are Google Fit with approx 5 MaH per night and Swift Keyboard with about same + Hardware consumption of course, phone standby, device idle,... I have set most my applications to automatically close after I lock my screen. So I don't have to do that manually.
3% in 9 hours. 3 apps left running in the background (FB, FB messenger, and trigger). BT off, Wifi & mobile data on (2 active SIMs).
Very simple solution how to conserve power and increase standby time during your sleep is to turn off wifi and bluethooth. Unless it's critical for you during your sleep. For example today I went to sleep with 66% battery left, slept 9 hours and woke up with 66%. Less than 1% battery consumed over 9 hours.
I will try this.. thanks
I just got this phone 3 days ago, on its second charge and I went to bed last night at 11 o clock. Went from 92 to 91 percent when I got up at half Pas 6 this morning. Can't complain there
Still on the 126 firmware tho.
Edit/
So I got the update to 138 a few days ago and things looked real bad. At first, for some reason the battery got about 20 percent worse than at 126. I'm not a Facebook user so I can't blame Facebook nor messenger for that, I don't have those apps installed.
Now after a few days battery had gotten a lot better with this firmware and now I can say it's pretty much the same as the 126 update. Maybe even better!

My standby drain is pretty bad for a phone with such a huge battery. I just wiped the phone yesterday (for the third time), didn't recover from backup but set it up as a new phone to avoid the Google Sync problems I previously had. I installed just 8 apps: Twitter, Whatsapp, Telegram, Snapseed, Yelp, Youtube Studio and Spotify.
After 50% have gone, I have 2:50min of screen on time. As you can see, the phone wakes up way too often. In the very beginning of the graph I just unplugged the phone and let it rest. It seemed to deep sleep, but still lost about 6%. I also turned off wifi for an hour somewhere in the middle, but it doesn't show up. The battery life could be just so much better.. It's just disappointing.
I put the screenshots in the Google Drive. Can't post them here for some reason?! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzAs5-iV39iCTUpnYmpiLXJ5WEk
