I don't know if you guys know what is an HDR Picture is, but it is a very nice picture, even the iPhone 4 have it on their phone and they only have 1 camera on the device.
HDR is capable by taking images in diferent exposures and then combine it.
HDR video is capable by using two diferent cameras at the same time using the same as above.
Now that this device, the EVO 3D, is capable of doing 3D imaging and video, it will be nice of doing HDR too.
I have a feeling that it will be capable if you program both cameras take diferent exposures at the same time and then combine the photo/video for an HDR to come out.
What do you guys think?
Anyone knows something about it?
It better be...

I'd be interested in hearing how you could do HDR using both cameras since they're both seeing two different perspectives. The cameras need to see the exact same thing, or it would look terrible. Current real-world examples of capturing HDR video with 2 cameras is done using a beam splitter, which you would not be able to use with the EVO 3D since you can't correctly aim each camera at the beam splitter.
I was kinda hoping you could take 3D images, and then view each 2D image separately... In regards to doing pure 2D photography, I'd love to see HDR as well, and even multiple focal points... imagine a video being recorded with a close focus, and an infinite focus, that you can use software to pan between on-the-fly, (and after-the-fact.) I think that would be awesome.
I would be surprised if the iphone4 can do HDR very well, honestly. I just purchased a Canon S95 and without a tripod it is nearly impossible. You get all sorts of ghosting.

So am I the only person who would prefer having a single, high quality 8mp (1080p recording) camera as opposed to the dual 3D cameras? I already pre-ordered the EVO 3D, so no matter what I'm excited about it, but personally I could have done without the 3D and instead would prefer a better quality single camera. I might switch over to the EVO 4G+ if it ever comes to Sprint because it seems like exactly what I'm looking for.
Either way, can't wait to get my 3D! I've loved my EVO 4G since I've owned it but I've always hated the crappy Adreno200 GPU
The lens and camera hardware are so small on these phones that 8mp vs 5mp has nothing to do with quality. The iPhone 4's camera is 5MP and takes better pictures than the EVO 4G's 8MP camera. From what I've seen, the EVO 3D is better than the EVO 4G in that department as well.
I HIGHLY doubt Sprint will get that phone. And if I had a choice, I wouldve gotten the 4G+.
the photos from the E3D are on par if not better than the EVO 4G's pictures
I would rather have one camera with a bigger sensor, that being said the 3D takes just as good if not better 2D pics than my Evo 4G before it. And I don't see what's wrong with the reviewers it isn't hard to take a good 3D photo on the phone either.
i wanted a larger 8mp or higher camera also but after using the 5mp with the E3D im happy to have a decent camera on hand when i need it, if i need excellent pictures ill take my Nikon
Yeah I love my Nikon also but I just hate lugging that thing around LOL! Hopefully the E3D camera is decent and more importantly FAST! Like, I want to be able to take a quick snapshot and have the picture come out decently. I don't want to have to buy an LX5 or an S95. My idea of a good camera phone is the iPhone 4, just so you have a point of reference.
How fast/responsive is the E3D camera? Gosh I can't wait, just a few more days!
I personally love the 3D camera. I mean, do you really need to take Cinema quality video with a cellphone, no. I think it will be a pretty fun camera to have and interested to see what else this phone will do once more 3D content is available.
So far I have noticed strange behavior when taking pics... when I hit the shutter in low-light situations, the picture on screen when the shutter sounds fires off is not the same as the one saved... it's a significant delay and subjects have moved, etc. Not sure why the camera 'blinks' or whatever... reminds me of the iPhone.
only problem im seeing is the pictures that we see are saving INVERTED not on all but some pics and i don't know why
To be honest, I really don't care about the camera on the back. I post all my pictures worth saving on Facebook, and that resizes the crap outta them, making even an awesome camera look meh.
As for the people saying they'd rather have the Evo 4G+...
Evo 4G+
Pro: Bigger Camera
Con: Doesn't exist yet.
You don't have that choice, Sorry.

Here is why that happens. In low light situations, the shutter needs to stay open longer to allow more light to hit the sensor and "burn" the pic. So the shutter sounds when the digital "shutter opens", but if it stays open for anything more than 1/60 of a sec (which in low light this camera shoots at about 1/30), there is going to be a significant delay and you will end up with a different shot that you thought you would get. In low light - make sure the subject stays still until the preview pic comes up - or use the flash...
hi guys. im just curious how the video and pictures on the evo3d look compared to other 5 or 8mp cameras. are they sharp ect. how would the evo3d compare to say the iphone 4?
im in the market for a good camera phone
I personally feel the evo3d only takes great pictures sometimes - meaning it is hard to get good pictures.
The pictures tend to look better on the phone than when you look at them on a computer, where they tend to look more grainy when not in the brightest light. This feels like a step down from HTC's other offerings, which can look as good if not better than iphone pictures when pulled to your computer. I have gotten some fantastic pictures, but for the most part the camera has left me a bit wanting.
Playing around with 3d pictures is quite fun, and video recording is very good - particularly the audio, which was lacking in the evo4g.

It takes a much better picture than the Evo4G did. Much sharper looking, even with 3mp less.
However in low light it still gets grainy...the sensor can't help that, but the software can...but it doesn't. It does, however, take fantastic macro shots for a cell phone...surprisingly.
The 5mp cam on the NS4G I had for a few weeks was phenomenal. When I came back to the E3D it really made taking pictures with it seem pointless...and that's not even taking into consideration the .5-1.5 second shutter lag from when you push the button.
For a freakin' cell phone? It's fantastic. I've never used an iphone4 camera but I've only heard good things. But after seeing what a Samsung 5.0mp sensor/lens/software combo can do I am completely down on the E3D's camera. Granted it does 3D and it is a rather compelling effect...though the problems with the 5.0mp single-cam shots get even more pronounced in 3D at 2.5mp.
YMMV, etc etc etc. It is a cellphone after all.
EDIT: Also any shots with motion are pretty much ruined before you take them.
I agree with nhutpham, post number 2. The camera is not nearly what it should be. This phone revolved around its camera's, I mean come on its not called "Shooter" for nothing. 3D pics turn out good, still shots do anyway. But standard pics, thats a whole other ball game. Low light produces bad pics, even with the flash. Some pics will get a greenish tint to them (whites) when using flash. Rather then use all the "auto" settings I find setting things manually will result in better 2D pics. The device was not purchased by me for the camera though. I bought for the dual core processors Though now that I have my dual core I am wishing HTC would have stepped it up on the 2D camera
i think at stock the pictures look ok. but when you adjust iso, sharpness, exposure, contrast in the settings it makes them look much more vibrant and sharp.
i took a compartive shot of small rocks and the evo3d looked crisper and better overall compared to the iphone 4. so the camera cant be all that bad
Maybe this might help. I'm actually surprised at some of the pictures on here.

Being a photographer myself, I am impressed with the camera... but not all of the time. It takes phenomenal pictures outside in a good sunny day and even in overcast. Take the camera inside in average lighting of just about anyone's living room when the sunlight isn't dominating the light, then I'd be reluctant to show it of.
The poorer the lighting, the harder it is to focus and the photos can get very grainy. HTC also chose to compress the photos quite a bit which affects the picture quality, but makes it easier on the phone and network to share and upload. This goes back to a previous comment that they look better on the phone than on a larger display - its the compression.
If you're willing to root and mod this phone, there is a camera mod in the CDMA dev forum for this phone with camera improvements which makes me that much more impressed with the camera. Although, I think all that was changed was the compression for photos and video.
If you are taking a still picture under good light they look really good. If you have kids and are planning to take any pictures of them forget it.
Let's just they are playing baseball and you want to take a picture of them at bat. They get up there and you click the shoot button. The picture is then shown to you for review and you say wait, who the heck is that. Well while you thought you were snapping a picture of your child, by the time the camera actually took the picture your child got a double, the kid after him grounded to third, and in your picture is the batter who was batting 2 guys after him.....Great picture of someone elses child and of course that kid moved so the picture is blurry as well.
Okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little. You would probably get the batter right after him and not 2 guys down in the lineup, but it would still be blurry unless he batted like a statue....
Green, but otherwise good
Ya unfortunately the shutter lag makes the phone worthless in taking non still images.

Specwise the Evo 3D is having 2 5MP cameras on the back. But some websites say that the Evo 3D captures 2D images in 5MP and 3D images in 2MP (correct me if I am wrong). And in 2D mode The Evo 3D uses the upper camera to take photos and videos. So the camera below it can be 2MP instead of 5MP.Then what is the need of the having 2 5MP cameras instead of 1 5MP and the other 2MP.
I'm lost with what you said...but I will try..to many damn numbers...so the pictures will be of equal resolution since you can take 3d pictures at 5 mp.
It is in deed strange, why can't E3D take 5MP 3D pictures. Maybe there will be a firmware update in the future who knows.

I think it has to do with the processing power to "combine" those two separate pics into one 3D image. You think the camera was laggy before, try waiting for the CPU to stitch together 5MP images...
I thought the camera take 2 seperate pictures and use parallax barrier to make one preceived as depth, aslo E3D has more processing power than ordinary point and shoot 3D cameras.
From what i have read the Evo 3d takes 2 x 2mp pictures in 3D mode and links them together to get 4mp.
Regardless of that, the phone takes great pics in 2D and 3D.
Love that dedicated camera button..no more yoga finger stretches to tap on screen while trying to keep steady..
Simplest answer may be the best answer... It was designed as having to take a 2MP 3d image because of how the screen displays natively.
Why 2 5mp cams? Because they are cheap and identical, from the same manufacture and they could only use 1 cam assembly Chinese kid instead of 2 to install 2 different non alike cameras. Allows them to just buy 1 sensor in greater bulk than 2 model sensors. Hence, cheaper to produce.

but the indian GSM evo 3d have the upper 5MP and lower 2MP cam
Think of 3d as blue ray It's twice the SIze of the file. And it seems I get 5 mp in both. I miss the og EVO camera. And panorama. In windows there was a hack in the registry where we bumped up from 3.2 mp, to 8 mp in panoramic. Up too 7 stitches. Problem is we ran out of memory for more than 3 stitches. I miss those options.

There's many Roms that add panorama camera mod. And there's a ROM that claims it boost camera up to 8mp but I havnt tried it myself
I've seen a few posts about how camera 360 takes better pictures than stock and how camera zoom fx fixes the poor video capture and audio. I have yet to find any comparison samples though, especially of the supposedly better video. Would like if someone would upload a video to youtube with audio if they are feeling generous.

I haven't had any issues with my camera or video. I hope the link works that I posted, hopefully you aren't a Green Bay fan Considering the distance I was shooting at, not too bad quality and stability. I had it zoomed in maybe about 1/2 way or a little more, then when I panned to the crowd, I zoomed back out a bit. Stock DNA, stock camera. I did try to use the Movie app to tie these two videos together but it said something was wrong with my files!? Tried several times and was disappointed, tried lower resolution, etc. but it would not go. I did use Movie Aid to stitch these together but that's it.

Hello,
have anyone found a way to capture 3d photos? Facebook has rolled out 3d photo capturing for dual camera phones, but I don't think g5 will get that feature.
I use phogy but it's a bit old and outdated.
In order to take 3d photos, we would need two identical cameras. The two cameras of our phone are too different for the view angle and for the sensor size and quality.
The software would need to know how to deform the wide angle photo to make it look like the one taken with the main camera, and I think they still would not match perfectly.

Well, you can still get 2d image + 3d depth mapping from different dual camera. LG g7, v35, V40 (with matching 78° & 107° camera) will support this Facebook 3d format soon
