Have u heard of the new HTC Evo 3D its freakin insane check it out here
htc.com/www. triple cameras front facing and 2 back cameras for 3d 1080p video
and picture taking with a totally redesigned version of sense ui. Also with DUAL
CORE processor. YEA I SAID THAT. 1.2 gh. We need to try to get this new sense
ported as soon as the dump gets released and I really want as many people as possible to contribute with this thread and when it gets released this summer we need to get
porting asap. But it will hard and im not sure if it is possible because it has a
qHD display. I did see the HTC Eris get a QVGA sense rom ported to it even
though the Eris is HVGA and it worked but had a lot of bugs. So im very serious about this I really want this rom and I think we can do this. We just need to try to get qHD lowered to WVGA if possible then it will be just like porting a new rom.

Did you see the new Sense UI? Amazing! Do we already know if it's gonna be in the Gingerbread-update for the Desire HD & Co?
--> Have a look at pocket-lint.com/news/39228/htc-sense-ui-updates-new
I talked to HTC and they said that the Droid Incredible will get android 2.3 but not sure weather it will be a sense ui update or not. If so it may have that version of sense. So if the Incredible will get 2.3 desire z/hd 100% will but not sure if it will have this new sense.

I can do the same, if I make sure I unplug it at the right time, run juicedefender, don't use the gps and all that... it would be really nice to never have to think about the battery ... plug it in before I go to bed, wake up - use ... but if I use the RunKeeper w/DoubleTwist playing - I lose 15-20% in 90 minutes (a good bike ride). I have the Evo battery - running Lou's #8 and Skyraider - I do ok, but stock - the battery life is crap.
Well it's official I am completely addicted to the status of AOSP for the Evo 3D and the Sensation.... I'm checking every couple of hours. I didn't even check daily for root...

It's been a couple days(stupid hurricane) is anybody getting really close? I kinda liked the new sense when I got the 3d, but as time goes on I keep replacing all the sense stuff anyways. The only thing sense I use and like nowadays is the notification pulldown.

That was my dilemma on the OG4G. I liked the snappiness and vanilla feel. But I couldn't see killing a feature that made the phone unique. (4G). So I always went back to sense.
I don't see me moving to an AOSP if 3D and MHL die. :/

We can, or will be able to. EMMC phones are quad booting roms! Nobody has made it work for us yet because there is no reason, yet. All the roms are pretty much the same. Some roms look this way, others that way, in the end they all have same mods to them over the same base. CM can be had faster IF cyanogen got more involved, look how fast they got CM booting on the TouchPad, maybe a bounty would speed things up around here

No NEON. IMO, that is a fail toward Nvidia since they are supposed to be "revolutionary" and all. The atrix didnt have support for a lot of apps for a long time and became annoying as hell. it needed so much optimization as well since Nvidia didnt do much at all lol. The only good thing about it was the games, which our snapdragons are just as good.. Maybe it got better with drivers, im talking quite a few months back. whenever i got my sensation from the atix i was so happy. (i had CM 7 on the atrix no motocrap) so cant blame it on bloat lol. the g2x was a fail because its plauged with so many issues. makes our screen bleed look perfect. people who complain about it should go to that phone xD

I don't believe any version of sense below 3.0 was made for qhd devices. Therefore to port an older version of sense would require a lot of re-sizing and m10 editing I believe. I think someone would have to be really dedicated to the project to put in the time required. That being said, I think sense 2.1 would run extremely well on this phone. The downsides would be that you'd have to run gingerbread, you'd lose some features, and of course the tedious re-sizing of many of the images. The idea is interesting though!

what about just using an AOSP rom? you get 4.0, NO overlay (so faster), and there are already people working on it.
Sense
What about using other launchers, like GO and others?
IMO a monumental waste of good development time that can be better spent with ICS and soon to be JellyBean. We did everything we could to get rid of it on the Hero as fast as possible. We ported 3.5 and never looked back.
Just my 2 pennies. If someone did put the work into it. Kudos. But I sure am not going to.

Kinda agree with nineinch and drachen. If u really want to go that far back just use a senseless Rom. The android 1.5 and sense 1.0 is really such a step back that aosp should give u the speed your looking for and actually look better. And I am a huge sense fan saying this

I've thought about pulling down the Donut branch from AOSP and testing it on these modern devices.
It was arguably the fastest Android flavor ever. I remember going to Eclair from Donut and feeling let down by the speed, requiring a faster processor.
Cool idea OP on doing Sense 1.0
I'm genuinely curious if this big kernel source drop is going to be beneficial to us or not. I've heard two sides to the story:
1. "HTC b trollin' man, they drop source and release a new kernel..."
2. Devs can use the old kernel and fix the issues that HTC fixed, along with the other issues AOSP ROMs were having like sound and MMS.
I have no idea what's going on, and I'm curious whether I should expect things to blow up here soon, or if this kernel source has been essentially useless. I'm generally unaware of how long it takes devs to pick apart the kernel code and utilize it. Any input from those with knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Both are correct. It doesn't really help sense based Roms because sense kernels are going to be newer than source.
However, aosp roms can now be fully functional. Aosp is what many people on here care about and are waiting for.

It's only been a little over a month since the phone first came out. Give more people time to transition and we should start to see more activity. It isn't that bad so far, but most development is based around Sense because no one wants to wrestle with AOSP. Once they get AOSP stuff finished though, we'll be golden.

Yeah, I'm sure that's true. In my head, I figured everyone would be working to get to that point as quick as possible once kernel source was released. Like a giant team project, haha. We just need the support of the big guys. For some reason it feels like most of the big time devs haven't moved on to this phone yet, or went with Samsung instead. I know that Preludedrew is working on JB for our phone, I talked to him about it yesterday on Gtalk. Deck mentioned in IRC that he was working on it as well, I believe.
The kernel developers are hiding so far, probably because we don't have the big guys working for us yet. I'd love to see a Tiamat kernel, even if I'm personally not a fan of custom kernels.

So far my experience with HTC phones have been a very disappointing one. Coming from the OG Epic, all I've kept hearing was how awesome the development for the OG EVO was. So of course when the EVO 3d came out it was my phone of choice over the Epic Touch. That was disappointment number one. Then when the LTE came out, I've noticed all the OG EVO developers and owners was all excited about this phone, so i decided to give HTC another chance. So for I've been more disappointed then at any point. The lack of ROMS, the pitifully performance of sense 4 and HTC's new stance on locking bootloader and sneaky updates with new Hboots was the last straw. What phone will I get next? Im not sure, but it won't be a HTC.
