Has anyone ever worked on bringing this port to the Vibrant? I really love the Espresso rom, but haven't seen it for the Vibrant.
Please be kind enough to let me know if there is the Espresso port running out in the wild or at least why it hasn't been done? Is there a lack of demand for it or is it a very hard port to do?

It's the same concept as porting HTC sense. Yes it's hard. And technically, illegal to a degree.
Check out the vibrant dev section.... There is in fact a Sense port being developed at this time... In that thread there are youtube videos which the developer barakinflorida has posted showcasing the progress he has made... unfortunately, he seems to be working solo at this point in time but I have a feeling Eugene will jump in at any time... My feeling is Vibrant owners are closer than ever to having a full Sense port..

But when you say sense port are you talking about mytouch 4g or stock HTC Sense? Thanks to both of you for the quick response. I ask because it seems like the Nexus One its the only phone with that port. I tried it before on my N1 and it was almost good enough to be a daily driver.

Dude like I said all the answers you need are in that post, in addition I do not believe it is the mytouh4g sense port but the Desire rom version of sense, which I have heard is superior...

pffftt...id almost trade my vibrant for a mytouch 4g at this point
Lol! Thank goodness for all the projects with potential going on....

No offense to you, but I clearly stated that I am looking for the myTouch 4g port not HTC Sense. Thanks anyways. I guess we do not have a Dev working on bringing Espresso Sense to our Vibrant.

Lol, and I clearly stated all the answers including what version of sense is being ported can be found in that thread. Also, this may be considered wishful thinking but perhaps once that sense port is fully working this may open the doors to other versions of sense being ported, however this is not an easy task hence the wishful thinking...

Ok, well hopefully we get a stable port. Until then I'll just stick with Nero.

Im good with porting roms, so im not exactly asking anyone to do anything, just asking for some advice/help.
IF i were to port a Rom for the inspire or desire, with gingersense, miui, whatever, would the 4g work? Thats all i want to know. I can replace the icons that make it say 4g rather than 3g no problem but i need to know if porting would be easy while keeping the 4g radio working.
Any help would be appreciated
I bet it would be easy. The 4g capability is just another driver if I'm not mistaken. But we really won't know till someone tries it. Id love to see some ports though its nice to see you here trying to get involved. Thank you and I'm here if you need anything. Oh and id go on Twitter and ask @teamandirc about thunderbolt they know a lot more then most.

Bump cause I really wanna see this happen. But if I remember correctly it took cyanogen and co some time to get Wimax working on the evo

The only problem with GingerSense is that GB + the newer Sense will be available sometime in the next two months (or less), so we'll be seeing an official release with new features that a mere Sense 2.0 + AOSP GB combo cooked by an independent developer will lack.
I don't think we will see an update till June. HTC usually is a little slow. No harm is trying

Are we going to get the new enhanced sense UI like the new EVO 3D has?

I think its safe to say that nobody knows. Supposedly were supposed to be getting Android 2.3 with Sense 2.1 but thats still a rumor
I hope so. After seeing videos of the new Sense on the Evo 3D I can't wait till it comes to the TB! Hopefully they'll be a custom ROM in the future.
Cool thanks for the input, thought I might missed something when hey showcase the new UI

I actually prefer sense 2.0 right now. That's what I bought into, not 3.0(which I'd never even seen) My device is running really fast and smooth and who knows how 3.0 will run on the T-Bolt. I'd rather try it thru a custom ROM than have HTC/Verizon do an official update.
It's 2.3 not 3.0.
Its runs smooth on my G2. I think it's a huge improvement over 2.2.1. I agree with the above poster. I'd rather flash a custom port than an OTA.
bleh, my sense seems to hang up when i go into my txt mssgs, like ill click on a txt, and jus sit there, then open up someone elses txt (txtd the wrong person a cpl times, not good if u dnt wanna get caught -_- lol)

SENSE 3.0 is what he's talking about
not Android 3.0
We currently have sense 2.0

Again sorry for he confusion but all this is asking is... Will we get the Sense UI that the new EVO 3D just displayed at CTIA

I looked through the forums briefly but i was just wondering if anyone has heard of any ports from some of the new sense roms. I got to play with the sensation briefly and was impressed with the new sense. I haven't used sense since waaay back on the original desire so I'm really eager to play with sense.
Who else would like to see sense on there sgs2?

You probably already know this but.....The Sensation has like 1000 roms its ridiculous, but we have the same screen with the same size and resolution, only thing that would be diffrent is BT radio right? Because I just peaked at the Sensation development and I died a little

I have been dying for a while. It must be very hard a lot of the roms want the phone to be S-offed but even then...IDK Its ridiculous the amount of roms i mean i kinda just want a sensation to play with you know?
The only similar parts in both devices are the screens (which are made my different manufactures) but that doesn't matter. its not hard to port a rom just because of screen differences, that's never been a problem. its the internals, the only part that is similar is the cpu/gpu which doesn't really matter either. there is a lot of differences. much different wifi as well
I think there is a thread covering this?
i dont have either of the phones... but i want the amaze because it is better than the sensation 4g, but i want the sensation 4g because of its wide variety or roms.
tough decisions!!!
but yeah roms arent hard to port... theres really only a couple things that you need to make a rom from another device boot on a different device. (i will let the more knowledgeable users take it from here)

you answered your question yourself "the amaze is a better device". doesn't matter how much better the development is. that's like saying I should get the g1 rather than the amaze because the development is amazing there lol
roms can be really hard to port if you don't have the right information (drivers, radio, etc). yeah, im sure it can be easy to port and boot up but no luck getting it stable so its pointless
Mabey if someone made a tool that was specific for porting sensation roms to the amaze, that would be sexy

But yea getting it stable is hard, and is the most challenging thing, we have ICS booted and we almost got Sense 4 booted, but they can't be daily drivers so no point in that right now

this has been discussed previously, the sensation is a completely different phone on the inside...EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PHONE is different...porting from sensation to amaze is not even a good ide, they don't use the same hardware at all, ergo they don't use the same drivers, kernel, modules etc....HTC Vivid is the closest phone you will find to the amaze.
It's really not that hard guys, I'm working on one now actually, here's some information on how to do it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224311, and theres also dsixda kitchen which make it even easier

Wow really, you ask a question, then try someone when they give you an answer, I can see why devs are leaving this place. And what makes you an expert, have you tried, I have everything but WiFi working, if I get that working and get rights to post a port of it, I will

Wow really? Thin skin? The guy just asked what ROM you have running smooth... A question you couldn't answer apparently.
If no devs were here to begin with, what do you mean devs are leaving? Are you talking about the ONE dev that was BANNED? Lol. Good luck running your ported ROM on the Amaze... Hope u have a good Kernel guy

Thin skin, at least I have the balls to try, which is more than I see from most people here that just want to complain or ask question without doing there home work first. As for our one dev, that's false, we had others, but stupidity ran them off
