Can't get out of boot loop! Help? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've managed to get into a boot loop I can't get out of because of some human error & the new firmware bootloader I think. Here's the history of it all:
I was running VEGAn 5.1.1 then decide to go back to stock to try the new 4349 firmware. I NVFlash back to stock but get stuck in a boot loop because I originally didn't partition to 2048 0. So I do the fix for that by loading CWM through NVFlash (change CWM img file to part9 & edit bat command) to change the partition values. After rebooting, tnt loads up and I get back to the home screen. I then upgrade to 3588 & then 4349. I still don't like the stock firmware so I decide to use gojimi's zip to flash back to 3588 but it doesn't run. I decide to NVFlash back to stock again & now get stuck in a boot loop at the tnt graphic & can't get into CWM recovery using NVFlash to clear data or anything. It just says entering recovery but doesn't load, it just sits there.
I'm guessing since I didn't clear data before flashing is the problem or the new bootloader is causing issues? Any help would be appreciated.

jcflman,
What an odyssey??!!!
I agree with you the clearing data or partition problems might be the answer.
to me that means you need CWM again.
Can you NVFlash CWM again and get a working copy?
If you can, go to the Advanced Menu and Partition 2048/0, Fix Permissions and Wipe
Dalvic Cache. The return to Main Menu and Wipe Cache and Wipe/Reset Factory
Data. The done, shut down CWM and the tablet.
If it were me, and the above works, then I would NVFlash back to stock Bekit 1105 (stock
Version 2638). If successful, then I would set up wifi and let it OTA to 3588.
If you can get back to a good solid, working 3588 then you can go wherever you want.
Hope this helps,
Rev

Unfortunately, that is the problem. When I run NVFlash to get into recovery it installs but doesn't run. It's the black screen right before CWM pops up. It says "Entering NVFlash recovery mode / Nv3p Server" but just hangs there. I honestly think I bricked this sucker. If only I had did a data wipe before.
I guess it wouldn't make a difference if I tried running recovery from a micro sdcard.

jcflman,
If you are getting the "NVFlash" message, you are going into APX like to flash.
Are you holding down Power/Volume + to boot into recovery?
Rev

You can clear cache and data from stock recovery.
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030915

I'm back to the home screen! Thanks guys! (insert group hug smilie here)
Sorry for not replying sooner. I just got it working a few minutes ago. I went to bed last night early but woke up with a fresh mind & the help of you gentleman to get it working. Thanks again.
Also, I updated the original post with the correct firmware #. Hope that didn't confuse anyone before.

[Q] Freeze on any Custom Rom

I'm working with my new (from woot) Viewsonic G Tablet.
I managed to flash clockwork recovery (v .8) with little to no trouble. However, I am having some difficulty flashing a custom ROM. I have tried several different versions, including many of the ones posted on this forum.
Whenever I try, clockwork says that the install completed, but when I reboot it hangs at the Viewsonic bird-logo screen. After about 25 minutes I give up, reboot. It happens again. I reboot into clockwork and restore to stock and it works fine. I don't think I'm missing a step, but I'm pleading for help.
From clockworkmod -- Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache. Repartition sdcard to 2048 and 0. The repartition will format your user partition, so back up any data to an external source that you don't want to lose.
Re-flash ROM of choice, hopefully boot all the way, if not then try wiping data again after flash and then fix permissions from clockworkmod.
I'll give it a shot!

No luck.
My steps:
1) Shut down
2) Boot into recovery (hold the vol+ and power)
3) Wipe data/factory reset
4) Wipe cache
5) advanced, wipe Dalvik
6) advanced, partition sdcard 2048, 0
7) mount usb, copy rom & gapps over (both from xda with reports of success)
8) install zip from sd (CorwinCM7RC4Beta.zip)
9) install zip from sd ( gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip)
10) re-wipe data
11) rewipe cache
12) rewipe dalvik
13) fix permissions
14) boot & freezes at the birds

Can you flash a stock rom like 3588 and see if that boots?
Stock roms are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000
They have to be flashed with stock recovery, not clockworkmod.
I would probably use nvflash to get a working stock image on it first. This thread for those instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
Nvflash bekit's images then flash 3588 through the stock recovery, and you'll be back to latest stock image. Then you might have success with the custom ROM again.
Some tabs had a slightly different partition structure, mine was one of them. I nvflashed bekit's originals and it straightened out some things for me back in December.
It seems like a lot to do, but you may only need it once. I've only needed to use it twice since owning the Gtab, and the second time was by choice.
Having similar issue on the batch recieved from woot. Stock and Vegan 5.1x works but everything else gets stuck at the viewsonic birds screen.
I have no idea why. I'm going to try to do the old nvflash push method of installing cw .8 bekit today, since on the two I had in my possession this weekend got stuck and I used the install via recovery on cw .8 on them.
(btw. My original tab loads any rom(g-tablet) i want to throw at it, I used nvflash in december so it's the only thing i can think of)
Model on the tabs from woot is upc300-2.2 so yeah I am baffled (unless it turns out the way cw .8 installs....)

[Q] Trouble installing CWM now wont boot

So I got my Gtablet today and after charging I immediately began to flash a new rom. My first step was to install CWM. I downloaded CWM internal and loaded the two files onto the root of the internal sdcard. It initially booted into CWM. I rebooted. It would boot into the stock rom but would not load CWM. I would press the + volume and power. Every time it would hang at the birds. I attempted to delete CWM from the internal card and reinstall. No luck. So I searched around the boards and someone mentioned they had the same problem and fixed it by resetting to factory in the settings menu. I tried that. It immediately rebooted and now it hangs at the birds. It says loading recovery kernel but nothing happens. It won't load into the stock rom. It hangs and says loading recovery kernel image, but doesn't do anything. So as of now my brand new gtablet isn't working.
Any advice?
Sounds like you have a 1.2 bootloader and tried to load CWM for the 1.1 version. You'll probably need to nvflash a good stock recovery image into place to let it finish that data wipe or nvflash back to a factory stock condition.

bricked, again

I just did the biggest F-Up of my flashing life. While following QBKing77's Rooting & CWM with unlocked, at approx 3:50, during the flashing of the root SYSTEM.img file, rather than that file, I used the wrong file to flash used an IMG file that was meant for cwm, which is a completely different task.
So now I am trying to get into fast boot and try to do it with correct SYSTEM.IMG, then to find out I never got it downloaded, the link was deadand now I can not find where to DL it from. I must've not been paying attention and got ahead of myself.
Anyone know where I can a mirror of the file found here. Its the first link in the root section labelled "moto-fastboot flashable /system image".
Am I screwed? Does anybody have a copy of that system.img file laying around. I can not find any mirrors. That is the only way I can see this getting fixed bc I can still go into fastboot mode.
ckeck this ????

Important files
Thank shabbypenguin for those
If you can get into rsd mode and connected/recognized in rsd lite you should be able to flash one of those sbf files and return to stock.
I read the instructions carefully! It said to put the oven on 350 degrees for 10mins but for some out of this world reason I put it on broil and let it cook for 20mins :/

LOL no kidding Custodian. I did get a laugh out of that.
Thanks CubanLuke & ShabbyPenguin. I did use RSDLite to flash the current sbf you directed me to, I can boot into the phone again. Thanks again.
Now as to how to proceed, I will have to unlock the bootloader again, np, but when I run into that very step where I broiled it, the rooting via speedboot.... would it be okay to root using AIO instead because I can not find the SYSTEM.IMG needed to follow along w/ the video using this method.
Can I just root a different method, then proceed on with CWM recovery, then flash rom from the video?

Thanks KTT. Okay, I'm back on track now. I am unlocked again, rooted as well. but I am not sure about 2 things. This will be my very first android rom flash and just coming from a big whoopsies, I just want to be sure.....
1) Format system: in cwm recovery, which option is that? I don't see "format system" in the main or advanced menu. Maybe its worded differently?
2) Flash ROM: I can only assume its either "Apply Update from SD" or Update from SD". Not sure which one though.

1) Format system is in the "mount" options. Although it's unneeded to flash a ROM. Personally I just wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache and have zero issues. Others may tell you different though.
2) "Install .zip from SD Card" then select whichever .zip you're looking to install.

Okay well I am in some trouble again. successfully flashed an alpha cm7.1, but it didn't have market and the one i installed did not work so decided to flash to cm7.2 via CWM. When it booted I didn't really see anything change, later realized that maybe I was suppose to wipe/format in cwm first(idk).
So I decided to flash 198_7, same one that I used to restore back to stock earlier. But I did not get back to stock. The process was 100%, it told me to manually turn on the device, which was in rsd mode. So I unplugged, pulled batt, reboot. The phone now starts up until the pulsing Moto logo then screen goes black, then it loops.
In the process I lost CWM & unlocked. So trying to flash a ROM via cwm is no longer an option. Any thoughts?

Flashing the 198_7 sbf unroots and relocks, so you're back to square one.

Reboot into stock recovery, when you get the recovery logo thing push both volume up and volume down at the same time to get the recovery options. Then do a factory reset and it should boot for you. After that, root and unlock again. And you didn't have the Market because you forgot to install Gapps...

The reason cm7 didn't have the market is that you needed to flash gapps. Try doing a hard reset. http://www.hard-reset.com/motorola-photon-4g-hard-reset.html That should do it.
try the 154 sbf

i had the same problem i think and was going thru boot loops but some one told me to start into recovery when you try you get that ? android screen from there hold down volume up and down at same time then wipe phone booted up fine after that.
It worked like a charm. Thanks. I'm still very new to android and hate to admit it but will be running into problems like these again. The best way to minimize it for me is, not only follow certain directions correctly to get out of these binds, but to understand them.
- So theres an image of the stock ROM stashed away on the phone regardless? And it can be accessed only via the stock recovery? Because after I succeeded in flashing cm7.1, I did a factory reset once from settings>privacy and that restored me to a fresh CM7.1. The factory reset from settings>privacy and in CWM is the same, but both different from the factory reset via STOCK RECOVERY?
- Also what would be the correct method to go from one custom ROM to another? Would it be this? :
(in CWM)
- Format system
- Wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache/dalvik
- Reboot recovery
- Flash ROM
Or can I just jump to install from zip ?
- Also regarding SD Storage (internal), only holds storage files? So on any fresh ROM there shouldn't be anything in that partition relating to that new ROM yet right? So I can delete things without worry?
You should not have to reboot into recovery, once your wipes are complete, normally you can just flash your ROM of choice in the same recovery session.
Before I flashed anything I would make a backup with CWM so you don't have to keep rooting and unlocking. You can just restore your backup.

After flashing 198 7 sbf, all u need to do is flash derpunlock not go through oem unlocking, then reflash recovery.
Simple generic process for going between roms (assuming already unlocked + cwm recovery flashed; process may be different for some roms, always make sure to read directions, but this is the general concept)
1. Download rom (and gapps if necessary) and put on your sdcard
2. Boot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3. You made a nandroid backup right?
4. Secure your nandroid backup (move it to your pc or something).
5. You know where your nandroid backup is right?
6. Wipe data/factory reset.
7. Install zip from sd (flash), choose the rom.
8. Reboot system.
At this point your rom should be all set. If for some reason you don't like it, simply boot into recovery and restore your nandroid backup. You can even make nandroid backups of various roms if you want to swap between them for whatever reason.

[Q] Stuck on bootscreen

Hey,
First off i hope i have put this on the right sub forum.
I've been stupid (I Think) I've olso looked around on the forum and the [READ THIS] Got a Boot Loop? Don't post a New Thread!
topic.
I'm using my SGS2 for a year now and was using the ressurexionRimix rom for a while.
I've been plaing around with my phone so i got lots of folder that were not used etc, so I wanted to get it back to factory settings, here is when all went down.
Via Settings-Backup and recovery i gave my phone a factory reset (while using the latest ressurexionremix rom, i think this is the misstake i made) When my phone went into the reboot is got stuck on the splash screen, it kept reapeeting the boot animation.
The second mistake i mad was not puting back my back-up but thought well i want it back to it's first state so i'll use ODIN to flash the stock ROM onto it. now, 4 hours later and about 10 trys with diferent versions of the stock roms i'm still stuck on the boot screen.
I've also tryd flashing a cwm so i could get in cwm recovery, this also without any luck
Does anyone have a idea what to do!?
go back to recovery - mounts andstorage and format the following :
cache, system, data, sdcards if you have it in recovery. reboot
you have a bkank screen as your phone has been wiped. reboot into download mode.
Connect odin and flash a stock rom. reboot and your phone should work provided that you have not damaged the flash chip on the motherboard.
Is this in CWM? the problem is i dont have that anymore because i've flashed it toc stok. I now get in the Android system recovery
The option i get there ar:
Reboot system now
apply update from external storage
Wype data/factory reset
Wipe cache parition
apply update from cash
test redbend fola[FS]
Will try this, thank..will let you know if it worked
Wiped data/factory reset and cache after this i ebooted my phone and i got the message installing application, now i'm in the setup menu. Looks like it is working.
Did'nt realice there was a recovery besides CWM Thank yoy so much Cosmic Blue!!! You saved my life!!

sm-t380 - Boot loop when I tried installing TWRP

I did something stupid when trying to root a SM-T380 that I just got as a backup tablet. I am new to the samsung world and ODIN.
I got as far as flashing TWRP and booting into TWRP using the instructions from androidinfotech and I actually had to do this multiple times as the system kept rebooting (I did not uncheck the auto reboot at first) and resetting the boot loader.
So I got TWRP installed, but...
I was trying to clear the cache as the instructions were saying, but I could not get anything mounted and cleared. So I followed some stupid video that had me go into the advanced and change the file system to F2FS, wipe and then go back to I guess EXT4. Well, Now I am in a boot loop. I still can get into twrp and at this point would love to go back to stock and call it a day. I am "Slow" downloading a stock image for the device, but that is still hours from completion.
Is there anything I can try in twrp while i'm waiting?
