[Q] Can anything undo a SIM-unlock? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, noobish question. I ordered an unlocked AT&T Atrix (done presumably with a code) and would like to go through the usual phone tinkering. My question is, do any of the procedures like rooting, updating, etc. undo the sim-unlock that i have to avoid?

nope, nothing should revert the sim-unlock

[Q] Unlocking Question

Currently my wife's phone is unlocked. I am a noob and I am just getting into the flash/root android community so I upgraded her stock phone to JI6 on Eclair. As a result, her unlocking codes are not easily accessible anymore but the phone is unlocked. I'm wondering if I need to risk going through the steps in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822008&page=11 (under Helroz) to find the unlock codes for the phone or I can just continue flash in Roms and kernels on her phone.
I guess the real question is: how important is it to have the unlocking codes if your phone is already unlocked and under what circumstances would the phone relock itself?
Thank you in advance for all replies.
Unlocked as in.... you can change out the sd card? Otherwise, if you have already flashed a differnet ROM, kernel, or modem or whatever, I don't think it would be different if you did it again.
But I would assume once you're unlocked...well you're unlocked, right?
Lol I am unlocked...I'm using the t mobile phone on the wind network I
n toronto so I can say with certainty that I'm unlocked. The reason why I'm asking is because we have two viberants (one that I have the unlock code and one that I don't ). being the noob that I am, I retired to manualy root my phone (the one I have the unlock code) using the update.zip file found in the sticky noob guideline.that one somehow re-locked my phone but I had the unlock codes so out was no problem. That's why I'm paranoid now about the phone relocking itself and I won't have the unlock codes.
Your right about it not asking for the unlock codes after rom and kernel updates.I'm hoping the situation where I re-locked the phone is a special, rare, and unique case. I'm going for some confirmation on this.

[Q] Restore simlock (carrier lock)?

Silly question, but just play along if you would
I have a Bell Atrix that I unlocked to use with Rogers. I'm wondering if there is any way I can relock my phone to only work with Bell.
I used the search function and found some similar threads about accidentally restoring the simlock on the Atrix, but nothing about purposely restoring it.
I have never unlocked myself, but I read that once your unlocked your always unlocked. Meaning you dont have to unlock after updates and sbf, and if sbf doesnt relock it i dont know what could.?
Yeah, that was kinda what I was expecting to hear
Thanks though!

[Q] re-lock bootloader?

with all the security related threats recently i'm realizing i really need to re-lock my bootloader.
any links on how to do this? i've searched and it's all about unlocking and a few on un-rooting.
i need to retain root, but want a locked bootloader so if i lose my phone it's less likely to have its data siphoned.
CWM, unsure of version
thanks!

[Q] Remove twrp, SuperSU, unlock and return to stock

Not sure what else to do and/or the safest way to do it. By law I am not sure how they can even sell a Locked phone in the US anymore. I asked my Virgin dealer to UNLOCK my phone and just got dumb looks.

[Q] Do you throw in the OTAs?

I have not followed the "rooting without BL unlock" dramas of the Z-Series unfold since my Z1C was unlocked...
I just vaguely recall that sometimes a rooting method was found by some dev, but it required very specifically Version xyz and of course many had already upgraded via OTA.
So do you run the OTAs on your phones? Hoping that downgrading will be possible? Or is the risk I perceive, i.e. putting in OTAs as they roll out and then removing yourself from those able to do whatever procedure might pop in the future real?
I am kinda torn on this... I am not in extreme need of root, but when / if a solution is found that keeps the DRM intact or allows TA backup beforehand I will certainly use the opportunity.
