So I have a friend who has a droid eris, and i have a galaxy s. He saw what i had done to my phone... Kernel, ROM, and themes and was asking me to do it to his eris. So can anyone point me to a thread or anything to help with rooting, flashing ROMS and anything else? Thanks.
Download Root and Me from the market. It's a guide for rooting etc. I found it very useful
do a little searching on here, you will find everything you need to know about your Eris,

You can find the most important information via links from the Eris Roll-up Thread.

I'm sorry, I know I'm in the wrong part of the forums, but my friend just bought an Optimus S on Sprint and I was wondering if the root methods were the same for others in the Optimus series. If so, can anyone link me to a root method guide?
Again, I'm sorry, I've owned a bunch of Android phones but never worked with an LG before. Thanks for anyone's help
FYI, no need to flame, I know I'm probably not where I'm supposed to be.
In terms of rooting, it is exactly the same method with using z4root. You can find it here, and just follow the instructions on the page.

Since the optimus s is just a rip off of the optimus t, does that mean roms will work on both as well?
Just find z4root v1.3 it's the best. google it or download at this forum

Thank you, the prior poster posted the link.
Need roms though, preferably something that's been optimized, deodexed, zipaligned and bloatware removed. The phone is great, but anything to increase speed and performance.
I do appreciate the help, thank you! If ever you need Evo help, PM me!
I tried a few Optimus S roms on my p500, they all failed LOL so unless someone else has attempted to do the same, and has said that it worked, I would highly recommend you to flash Optimus S roms. There are plenty for them here.
I am new to the forum and I am looking for the easiest way to root my fascinate sch-i500 phone. It has Froyo 2.2.1 currently. Any help is appreciated.
No worries. Use Z4 root, its a one click method which will do what you want rather easily. I posted a link below to a thread which includes the apk file and instructions on how to use it.

If you just want to root, find a one click root app. If you want to flash roms :
One tip: Read the stickies in the Development section. Your better off knowing what your doing instead of blindly following our advice. Sorry if this comes as a bit of a downer, but its for your own good.

^ Yup, he's right...The z4 root apk I posted does work 99.9% of the time without a hitch but sometimes things don't always go as planned and you may end up having to Odin because of it. Like TheSonicEmerald recommended read though the stickies and see what it will take to get your samsung fascinate back up and running again if something were to go wrong. It will save you a lot of time when it does happen, and believe me, if your going to be flashing roms and such things WILL go wrong. This isn't to scare you or anything, it is to assure you if anything goes wrong the forum is here to help. I've learned this one word of advice over my time here and thats, "YOU CAN NEVER BRICK AN ANDROID PHONE."I hope this helped you out a little. Happy modding.
I'm not new to rooting at all, I have rooted several devices. A friend of mine just got a Fascinate and all the info I'm finding seems old and depricated. Will this z4root still work? Is it simple enough for a newb to do? She really just wants root for the wifi tether for root users.
I couldn't agree more. I read a ton of stickies and it paid off big time
Hey guys well I am coming from a Desire HD which was pretty simple, you basicly have roms and kernels to install and I got the hang of it pretty quickly.
But I am upgrading to an S2 tomorrow and reading through the forums everything looks a lot more complicated, and I am reading about things like Modems (whats that) and so on.
Just wondering if any one could link me or give me a complete guide on everything to do with rooting, improving galaxy s2's?
Did you miss all the stickies and FAQ's?

Nope, I looked through most of them actually...
SGS2 flashing once you get root is as easy as it could be with any phone, just flash the ROM via CWM.
The "new" part if you come from Desire is the use of Odin to first enable root on the phone, but you can see good tutorials/guides here in the stickies.
Please don't flame, I tried searching but I'm apparently not using the right keywords or maybe it's already staring me in the face.
I have Arctic ROM working perfectly on my RAZR, just the ROM thread provided themes without a guide to installing them.
Yes I know it's probably a noobish question but any help would be much appreciated.
Apparently through CWM Bootstrap, wish it was stated somewhere a bit more obviously as I had to tinker with it until I got the idea to try through Bootstrap.
Oh well, solved.
Can someone please help me step by step how to root S3 i9300 and install recovery and custom rom? Or can anyone link a good video tutorial?
Is it safe to use ROM manager to install a recovery? I know some years ago that program was not safe.
Search and read, all covered in the sticky threads.

I knew someone would say that and I would say that myself to people if I was experienced, but I am asking because I want to be sure, the sticky threads and all that can be old information, there may be new versions out etc..
But okey, nvm guys I figure it out myself.
even being old the process remains the same... just folow the instructions in this link and you will be rooted
