3rd party batteries fix?? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched all over but haven't found much info. Does anyone know of a fix for 3rd party batteries on Froyo??

What do you mean by "fix"?

If you buy 3rd party batteries (eBay, other sellers) using Froyo, the phone will display a "non authorized battery" warning and won't charge the phone.
Since this is a software protection, there must be a workaround/fix... but what is it?!?

Check out the Imnuts Kernel's or JT1134's Kernels they both have support for non-oem batteries.

Awesome, thanks! I have the 2 month old cleaned up fascinate froyo rom. Can I just update the Kernel or will I have to wipe and install a fresh rom?

I'm not sure if they work on the older froyo. You might want to update to the EC01 Rom and radio. It is a lot less buggy and seems to run faster.

I'm running EC01 with comavolt voodoo and my phone is running very smooth

I am still on EB01 with nv Comavolt and everything runs great for me also.

Just finished installing EC01 with the recommended voodoo kernel.... the "non supported battery" prompt is still popping...
Do I need to install one of the kernels you recommended? Do I just Odin/CWR it in?

Isn't your battery life terrible though --staying with eb01, I mean.
On ec01 I just hit 30% after 8 hours of semi-idle use,2 hours of intermittent Internet usage, another 4 hours of idle in bad reception, and a 3 hour phone call.
I'd say that's pretty sweet.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

I have NO idea what all the kernel versions mean.. but i went on and installed 0415_imnuts_50_voodoo.zip. No more battery issues!!
It was so easy.. and i'm a noob! Thanks!

I get a full day now since flashing the comavolt kernel. I have been holding off on ec01 waiting for the new community rom coming. I might just go ahead and flash ec01 tonight though and see how the battery does for a few days. Just that it got so much better after flashing the comavolt that I have been hesitant to change.
EDIT: Well just flashed the ec01 radio and the new imnuts -100 nv kernel, still using sc 2.9.2 rom. All I can report for now is everything is working good. Too early to report anything about battery life, will let you know in a few days.

Super IO kernel

I hear it has excellent battery life. And im on stock froyo no bloatware with a jk2 modem, I just want to see good battery life. Also. Could I flash any kernel over any rom? Or is there 2.1 and 2.2 specific roms? Help!!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes,there are different kernels for 2.1 and 2.2,but JK2 is 2.2,and so is the superio kernel. You should be ok with flashing the kernel, but just in case, make a nandroid backup, worst case scenerio just odin back to jk2,then restore nandroid backup (nandroid doesnt backup/restore the kernel).
not really liking this kernel.. my battery drained 28% overnight.. that has never happened with any other kernel..
I went from Saturday @ ~4pm until Sunday @ ~9pm
This was with full GPS while driving, listening to podcasts, watching videos for nearly two hours, and general calls and webbrowsing.
I still had ~20% battery left.
I pulled the phone off the charger this morning, and will run it dry to see what my "normal" uptime would be, and will post it tomorow.

well it seems like it is the kernel.. i went from DoW 1.4 to this and my battery life went down instead of improving. i dont run any widgets and dont have anything running in the background. so i dunno
Odin JFD, root, Axura 2.1ve, SuperIO kernel... Super flake.
With the kernel it takes at least two minutes to get a cellular data lock on the phone. Without it, it takes less than a second for 3g or 2g to lock in.
While it does significantly speed up the phone, I will use a lag fix instead until the "real" fixed kernel comes out.
Honestly, I have never had much luck with Eugene kernels. Every kernel I have tried has had something flaky going on. Without exception so far.
To be fair, it could be the ROM I am using. I will try another ROM just to check it.
if you are switching from 2g to 3g frequently, your battery might get sucked dry due to the radio issues mentioned in my post above.
I suggest you pay attention to what the radio (H/3g/Edge/GPRS Icon) is doing. Might not be related, but I could see it possibly draining the battery.

I'm running the same set up! Flashed this kernel yesterday. Battery is amazing! I wiped the batt stats to do conditioning last night at 8. I was trying to drain the battery as quick as possible so I had gps and wifi on and I played youtube videos and media hub trailers non stop till it died finally at 130. So streaming with the screen on the entire time I got 5 and a half hours. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
Do I need to disable oclf before I flash this kernel? I'm using nero 3 right now with oclf.

It is based off of the stock Kernel, however Eugene in all his brilliance fixed all the battery drain and greatly improved the IO. Hence why there is significantly improved battery life along with no lag.
On typical use, web browsing, messaging, phone calls, my phone easily lasts about 2 days. Truly amazing work

The new bionix or the old one?? what do you think??

Hey guys im wondering for the one's who have tried bionix v the old version and the new one, can you give your feedback about it???
in my opinion i dont see a great change of it. and i even think that the old version works better i dont know how about you guys???
Had bionix-v and flashed 1.2 yesterday night. So far I don't see anything different. For that matter, I haven't seen any real changes since Nero 5 which I thought was a great ROM. I just flash the newest because - well - because I can.

Lol yeah me too!! but the Nero rom is the one called nero-5-voodoo??? i have that zip file and never use it.
For me just having the Percent of batterly life number bigger was worth the 2min. it took to flash.
There was no real cosmetic changes just some "behind the scene" changes. Getting geared up for 2.2.1 i guess. I like the no wipe option now although I still wiped.
Only difference I see so far is my GPS isn't nearly as good. Before I start a "GPS sucks" war I am going to re-flash and test again. I want to do a few battery cycles before I flash to see about battery life as well.
If you are a cosmetics type flasher I would just stick with V. If you are an avid updater and ROM whore such as myself then flash away.

the old bionix rom has excellent battery life. I use a combination of bionix v1 with the kb1 modem. Standby battery is amazing. 28 hours with moderate usage (xda, engadget, texting, web browsing, etc). So I am hesitant to switch, I would recommend keeping the old one until 2.2.1 kernel

Yea dude no problem. Hey if you come up with a good combo that helps with the battery life while the phone is awake, pm me and let me know your ideas. And so far bionix v has been doing wonders for me but axura has a kb1 based rom out and I can only imagine it will be good. I choose to have bionix because I DESPISE axuras theme.. lol
Ps. To test your battery life just download the battery left widget and check it every once and a while. Once you use your phone (from 100% to 0%) the readings from the app will be fully accurate and can tell you how much battery you have left and how long. The battery accuracy is set as you lose battery, so the more you use it, the more accurate. So to test your combos use this widget to determine battery life and which ever one has the most hours, should be the best. It will take a while but it will be worth it lol

Nero 5 v Bionix V
I can only compare Bionix V to Nero 5.
Both are very close. Battery is much better on Bionix 5. Was using KA7 modem on Nero 5. Just installed KB1 modem on my Bionix 5. Will have to see how that works out. So far I can tell that I get a better signal and faster D/L and U/L.
I am getting lower Quadrant scores on Bionix (1300)compared to Nero (1500) on stock cpu not overclocked.
Overall I am happy with what I got so far.

Bali vs Glitch YOU choose

Which one would you guys recommend to me most?
I'm currently on Bali, have been for about 12 hours, and its given me a few hours extra on battery life, but i'm wondering, is Glitch even better? I don't like to flash things I don't need.
So you guys tell me.
This is to help me, AND others that wonder the same question...
Havent tried bali yet. Luuuurve glitch tho. Voodoo color is a plus and my battery life is much better, about 5 hrs more than stock redux. But as doon as bali gets voodoo color [which is soon] ill try it.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Well, I'd say glitch is for the more technically/tweaking due to it have voodoo color, up to 1.7ghz oc, insane work into UV and oc stability based on your chip quality.
But Bali might have slightly better vibrant specific support since it's from a mostly vibrant oriented dev. But Bali might be more generic in the features it has (this sentence is not meant to be read as a knock or rude in anyway).
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
glitch is awesome, previously terrible battery life and stability was questionable, but after latest update v11 battery especially is amazing, and getting some good UV aswell

Im fairly new to flashing kernels as well, but you DL it, put it on your internal SD and flash it like you would a rom. Thats all I did when I flashed Bali.
So far no real difference on Bali, my battery drain on cm7 is still terrible but I just flashed it today so Ill give it a couple more days
I always had crappy battery on Glitch, and I'm talking 8-10 hours completely unused. Bali is vibrant-specific and gives MUCH better battery life, 15 hours and still had 30% left.

for bali, you do it normal, and for glitch to be safe, theres a script you have to download, and first flash that, then the kernel.

IDK if there's a version for Froyo ROMS.
Glitch is for CM7, specifically, idk if it will even work for miui- you need to pay attention to the title, which i never read.
but it is for 2.3 roms as far as i know, and there MAY be one for froyo in the future if enough people contact the developer asking for it.

Bali 1.2

What are you looking for with the kernel
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
^ what he said.
To expand on that, you have two Bali variants to choose from if you're looking for battery life to be better. There is Bali-X 1.2, which is overclockable to 1.2ghz and gives you total control of undervolting (with the use of Voltage Control app). This is more for hands-on use, where you can tinker with different voltages for potentially greater battery life savings with deeper UV action from -25, -50, -75, and so on across all frequencies.
If you just want something simple right out the box that you don't have to tweak anything to, there is Bali 1.8.8UV. This is a kernel (kernel, not kernal, please make note of that for the future ) which is -25 all across the board. This is the "flash it and forget it" kernel if you don't feel like doing any tinkering around and want the benefits of an undervolted kernel and don't really have or feel the need for the 1.2ghz availability.
Link for Bali is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043947
Happy flashing!

Allows you to OC/UV whichever way you want. Use Voltage Control or SetCpu to play with the settings.

I agree, if you want everything to work correctly and be iron clad go with Froyo based roms. I personally like the Evil Fascination. But the Com Rom2.1 has more features and customization. But once JT figures out the GB roms they will be what you want.
This where I'm a bit of a n00b...
Right now I have CM7 build #19 (the last two haven't downloaded for some reason, they get stuck at around 20%)..
I like the themes I have gotten my hands on with the CM7. I've been told CyanogenMod is the way to go always.

Im getting almost 2 days battery life on powerwash with normal usage. If im constantly web browsing, downloading files, or excessive talk time, then 12-14hrs. Basically it seems like my battery life almost doubled vs stock.
Here is my setup:
Powerwash v1.2 rom
otb-fusion kernal
ec09 radio

Quick question: with this ROM, where do I go for themes?

In the theme section... there isn't a lot of themes on this rom tho. This rom is a daily driver per say.
I like MIUI better than cm7, it's got all the same things working (and broken) and runs just aas well but i really like the look and customizability.
This damn cm7 has made me feel like I'm going deaf at 28. The radio is so quiet.
